It's getting there, to be fair. £20 groupon deal for a bottle of prreseco and a 2 course meal. Don't be shy and walk on by, pop in for food or a drink and give it a try. I had previously had a bad experience at the g-town Lounge but I had been given a voucher for my Christmas so thought I'd give it a other go. When we arrive it was as though they weren't expecting us and they had to ask a man that was having a drink to leave his table. We sat down and weren't told anything about the menu. There was a crumpled piece of paper on the table that turned out to be the menu to order from. They had ran out of 2 out of the 7 main meal options. One of the people that I was there with shared a starter that was mediocre. We all then order the brisket burger but when it arrived it was a standard beef burger. No barbecue or brisket in sight. Mean while the chef was having a tantrum in the kitchen And flinging things about. Theatre was only one waitress who was working and she was also working behind the bar. Two of us ordered the sticky toffee pudding and the other ordered the chocolate pancakes. We were told that they only had one sticky toffee pudding and one chocolate sponge available. But when they arrived we were both given the chocolate pudding. The pancakes were shop bought with chocolate sauce on top. We were there for sunday lunch but this wasn't available.

We had some cocktails too which were very nice. It had a nice and relaxed atmosphere as it was lunch time, and we will definitely be back soon .

Booked a Groupon deal 20 pounds and after looking at reviews didn't expect much. When we arrived quite a few people eating but not many staff. Served prosecco very promptly and selection on menu was excellent both black pudding with poached egg and pear with cheese mouse starters tasted delicious, also well presented. Right amount of time between courses, bar staff also had to serve food but were very courteous. Mains of cod with mash and brisket burger were also nicely presented and very tasty better than some more upmarket restaurants where food looks good but has no taste. The couple next to us were also pleasantly surprised although wrong meal given in first instance which was order taken wrongly but this was changed no problem and there dessert looked really good so didn't have any complaints either. This is more a pub than a restaurant but I enjoyed relaxed atmosphere could be better organised and more praise for staff to create a nicer environment. Excellent value on deal but could be a little more competitive on normal price because of surroundings but happy with night.

I bought a Groupon deal for a 2 course meal for 2 and bottle of wine , £20 seemed a pretty good price. G-town Lounge reviews on here weren't reassuring to read. We had been looking forward to a night out with friends. I called Gtown and spoke to Brian the manager. He was aware of the bad reviews and said the previous chef was rubbish and to come along, he'd be certain we would have a lovely meal. We dinned out last night. Our table was booked for 715 and we arrived on time. The place had maybe a dozen customers , only one table appeared to be eating. The waitress showed us to our table and asked for our vouchers. We had a look at the menu. There was a choice of 5 starters, 6 mains and 3 puddings. Our main took over 40 minutes to arrive. We did see the chef a few times out of his kitchen looking under pressure. We thought that funny as there was just one other table eating! Thought this shocking as the place wasn't busy. I had the risotto ,it was alright. The other mains there was no real complaints.. I had to enquire at the bar to where our puddings had got to, this was alomost 9 o'clock!!! Gtown lounge had mayb another 5 customers , all drinking nobody eating. The bar tender said sorry she would find out ...It was another 15minutes or so the deserts appeared... I was really looking forward to pancakes with chocolate ice cream with cherries. The waitress said sorry they had ran out of cherries. The ice cream was vanilla!! The sticky toffe puddings were not home made. They were shop bought. I can't understand why the meal all in took over 2hours!! Glad we weren't in a hurry but 2hours , wow!! There's no way I'd pay £10 odd for risotto in here. On the plus side the DJ did play all the songs I asked for.

Went here for a leaving do, ordered from their dinner menu and felt totally disappointed. My husband had the fish & chips which was £12.95 and I had the risotto at £8.95. The fish was frozen and the chips were like little bullets. My risotto actually consisted of a bag of microwavable Uncle Bens (which hadn't even been microwaved properly) and some grated cheese. In fact, no one from the leaving party finished their meal at all. I would avoid this place at all costs!

First time we booked to use Groupon voucher they phoned one hour before meal to say chef had phoned in sick. It was rescheduled and agreed new booking by them by email. When we went next time kitchen was closed as chef (due to illness) only works on certain days. Offered to reschedule and bring grandchildren who would get free meal. Also offered extra bottle of prosecco and if we wanted to stay and have free one we could. Thought taking grandchildren for free meal and us having two bottles of prosecco was not best idea. They are too young to drive us home! Groupon were great and gave us money back. Libertine was great bar and food was excellent and main reason we booked. My advice is use money for another of the Groupon on deals and steer clear of this one.

Used the same groupon deal as others have said, when we first when in they seemed shocked we were there, and could probably of done with us not being there as they were already struggling to cope with not many people in! They had no table for us and had to ask someone to leave there table and sit elsewhere. Took forever to take the orders, had no fish, so the four of us went for the BBQ brisket burger with hand cut chips and slaw, which ended up being basically a cheese burger with some chips. No brisket, or slaw. After a bit of a wait the desserts came, which again wasn't what was on the menu, for myself 3 small pancakes most likely shop bought, with chocolate sauce and no cherries. There was a lack of such basic stuff for example there was never enough cutlery for each course. Meanwhile the chef was having a tantrum and storming back and forth from the kitchen, would of been a better meal if he spent more time in the kitchen than out. All in all I was glad it was a gift, which will sound bad but there was no way I'd have paid for what we had. Average food at best, bad service, and lack of any basic hospitality skills! AVOID!

Visited to use a Group on Deal we had been given as a Christmas present. Pre booked table 2 weeks ago through Groupon. When we arrived they had no table looked like they weren't expecting us. Waitress told us to sit at a large empty table with the very welcoming phrase 'you'll need to share with another couple'. We were given a sheet of paper with the menu typed on it, a very different menu from what appears on the website. I ordered blue cheese mousse with poached pear and walnuts and my husband pea and ham soup followed by fish and hand cut chips for him and brisket of beef burger with slaw and hand cut chips. The starters finally arrived 45 minutes after the order was placed, the blue cheese mousse I'm sure was simply a dollop of Philidelphia with a few walnuts sprinkled on top. Another wait of around 45 minutes after the starters were cleared before the main course arrived. When I complained to the waitress she told me the kitchen was busy and she would get us a complementary drink to make up for the wait. When it finally arrived the burger was tasty enough but the top of the bun was charred. The hand cut chips were frozen chips and were way overdone and the slaw no where to be seen. The complementary Drinks we were offered never materialised either. By this time we were so cold and disappointed with the total disregard of the place to provide any kind of customer service we left.. The couple sharing our table had ordered at the same time as us (7.30pm) and were still waiting for their desserts when we left at 10. Wouldn't go back

We bought this as a Groupon before Christmas, offering two courses for two people and a bottle of prosecco for £20. When we first turned up (having booked), the manager said the kitchen was closed (he hadn't checked his bookings). He said if we came back at a later date, we could have a third course each and an extra drink, to make up for the first visit. So, we booked and went last week. First problem - the manager we had spoken to (and who had written a note on our Groupon) was no longer running the place, and the new manager couldn't honour the previous offer. Disappointed but very hungry, we stayed, although I was offered unlimited soft drinks, which turned out to be rather flat imitation diet coke. Long story I know, but let's move on to the food. The menu was different from that on the venue's website, and far inferior in my opinion. Fewer options and higher prices. For starters, we ordered pea and ham soup, and black pudding with poached egg. Both were tasty enough , but somewhat lukewarm, and served on cold plates. The soup bowl was only half-full. For mains, we had brisket burger with chips and chicken breast with mash. The brisket burger was well cooked, but wasn't any better than one I had from Wetherspoons, and I'm only glad we didn't have to pay the £12.95 asking price. The chicken breast was okay (what can you do wrong with chicken breast), but small in size (list price £10.95). Again, served on cold plates, which meant the food cooled very quickly. The prosecco was not the best, but considering we'd only paid £20, what could you expect. If you get this as a Groupon and don't mind food being less than piping hot, then you'll get a reasonable deal. If you go in and pay full menu prices, then I think you'll be very disappointed. I'll end on a positive note. The service was very good, which the new manager has obviously decided was most in need of improvement. However, they'll have to focus on the quality and temperature of the food, as well as the prices, if they want to attract punters from the numerous other bars and restaurants in the area. To me, they want to be an attractive bistro, but at the moment, the food is no better than a run-of-the-mill pub.

We went here on a groupon that we got for Christmas. Not a very welcomIng place and very cold. The voucher said it was a 2 course meal for 4 people with a bottle of prosecco or wine. We were just brought a bottle of prosecco and were not asked whether we would like that or a bottle of wine. It wasn't very busy but after taking our order we waited over half an hour for our starters - 2 ham hough terrines and a soup. The starter was nicely presented and tasted good. After another long wait our mains came, nothing spectacular but edible. Burgers should have come with coleslaw but that was nowhere to be seen. 'Hand-cooked' chips were more like the frozen variety. Fish and chips was greasy and stroganoff was ok. Dessert was a classic! Menu said American pancakes with cherries (of some sort) and chocolate sauce, this was actually served as scotch pancakes (cold), squeezy chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. Not very appetising. When we mentioned to the waitress she said that we should have said earlier but we were not given any apology. Surely she should have known this was not what was on the menu. All in all a very poor experience that we will not be repeating and certainly won't be recommending this place.

Attended G Town Lounge in Glasgow recently for a nice meal with my better half, but sadly we were left very disappointed. Let's start on the positives. The food was very tasty and presented well all be it there wasn't a great choice. The girl who served us was pleasant and quite attentive. Now for the not so positives... The place was freezing cold and draft you. The decor was very tired and the general appearance was grubby. The toilets are in bad need off well being totally ripped out and started again to be honest. Very dirty,no hot water bulbs out and flooring lifting up and in even. Don't get me wrong I understand you get what you pay for. The prices are as you would accept for the area. And this place has bags of potential given its location. But they really need to improve the basics and then build on that. So in conclusion...Not the place for a nice romantic meal. Maybe more a burger and a beer with your mates watching the football.Would we go back. Probably not.

I came here on a Groupon deal that I received as a birthday present which was for 2 courses plus a bottle of prosecco for 2 people. It was a very cold afternoon and on entering for a heat I was very dissapointed as it was no warmer inside than it was out. The guy behind the bar told us that they were waiting on a delivery of prosecco so offered us wine as an alternative, although he didn't apologise or even seem all that bothered (we were the only customers except 2 guys drinking). I wasn't expecting much from the food but was pleasantly surprised as it was actually nicely presented and tasty. This place does have a lot of potential as it's in a good area, nice size and decor (although toilets need a make over), but lack of heating and not having what is offered in a deal, staff attitudes. etc lets it down badly.

Booked on Groupon, £40 2 courses for 4 and a Bottle of wine or Prosecco.Just what we wanted for a wee afternoon out prior to the bells with some family to enjoy a catch up and some drinks.Just a pity the menu that we got to choose from was now limited, due to the festive Christmas menu being sold out, although their were only a few people eating when we were here. Managed to finally get the chef to agree on an alternative to the missing products on the menu. The eating area was freezing with small heaters located to boost the temperature but these were to small to make any impact and when asked if they could close the mains doors to keep the heat in an apology was given but remained open so that a delivery could come in.As noted above, great deal but fell very short of expectations and service.

Barman was prompt and efficient, Guinness was good and served to perfection....If rating this 2/5 because as a sports bar (which it proposes to be) it wasn't good enough. If I make the choice to watch the match at your venues vs the vast choice of competition I expect the atmosphere to be good. Glare in the screen meant the viewing experience was poor and there were random sound checks and songs played throughout which meant commentary was intermittent at best. Not how I like to watch sport.

Had a voucher for afternoon tea with a bottle of prosecco - absolute bargain at £19 for two. warm welcome from the very witty and affable manager who, on learning we were a couple of fussy vegetarians, brought the chef out to discuss what we wanted on our sandwiches instead of meat or tuna- and boy - she did a great job! our tea stand was overflowing with a nice selection of sandwiches and way too many cakes for two people in the afternoon. The staff were all lovely and friendly and the Glasgow banter was in full flow. this is not a luxurious place and you may even just walk by if you are in the area but give it a wee go- you'll be surprised. we finished off with a couple of cheeky wee cocktails- again an absolute bargain at £3.50 each. will definitely make a point of going back.

My mum and I went for afternoon tea at G-Town Lounge using a Living Social voucher. The deal included prosecco, I was expecting us to be given a glass but we were actually given the whole bottle which was a nice surprise and very good value for money. There was football on the tv screens which took away from the atmosphere a bit, generally going for afternoon tea is a chance to escape football on the tv at home! The food was average, there were plenty of sandwiches and they were tasty but the presentation in general lacked any finesse, huge chunks of cucumber and tomato in the sandwiches and the salad just dumped on top of them, there was also no butter, mayo or any sort of dressing on the sandwiches. The cakes provided were almost certainly all out of packets, some looked suspiciously like Mr Kiplings finest. While they weren't bad it's not really what you would normally expect when having afternoon tea. In saying that there was plenty of food to fill us up and none of it was bad, just a little basic. The staff were all lovey, very friendly and helpful and definitely the highlight of our visit.Overall it was a plesant experience and good value when using our voucher however I would not return and pay full price for afternoon tea as it seemed like the food had been rushed and there are so many other options for afternoon tea in Glasgow where a bit more care is taken.

Visited this pub at the weekend on a Groupon voucher - two starters , two Sunday roasts and a bottle of Prosecco . Firstly the standards of cleanliness are poor , floors needed swept , toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks . I'll start with the few positives , the Prosecco was fine , the starters were also decent enough but you can't really do nachos badly . However , the main Sunday roast was truly awful , a bone dry chicken breast which was burnt on the top , frozen veg , frozen Yorkshire pudding , frozen roast potatoes, instant mashed potatoes and gloopy gravy that definitely wasn't home made . I've never had anything like it served to me before . Safe to say I won't be back and I won't be recommending to anyone . I will also be contacting Groupon as I feel they should be monitoring the standards of deals they offer .

I took my family here for an afternoon tea on sat 22nd Aug. This was the worst afternoon tea i have ever had & i have them often. Most of the sandwiches were white bread, you couldn't see the meat on the sandwich it was a tiny piece. The cakes were all mr kipling cut into tiny pieces & no scones with jam or cream which I would expect with an afternoon tea. We weren't offered tea or coffee, I had to ask for it. The barman came to tell us the machine for the coffee wasn't working but could offer as instant coffee, when it arrived it looked like dish water, he made the coffee with filter coffee & hot water, it was absolutely disgusting. He used the coffee ground instead of instant coffee!!! My friends and I regularly go for afternoon tea in the city and I'll be advising all of them to avoid this place.

After walking around in the lovely sunshine trying to find somewhere for a nice simple dinner we decided to give this place a try as the menu looked good. After a long wait we were eventually given menus, after ordering at the bar and waiting about 15 minutes we were told that there was no steak pie so I had to pick something else. Another long wait and the starters came, I had garlic mushrooms which were raw & tasteless my partner had BBQ chicken wings which had hardly any meat on them! Another long wait for our plates to be cleared then a long wait again for our mains.. My partner ordered a Cajun chicken burger but was given a plain dry tasteless chicken burger, with the horrible square plastic cheese not even melted shoved in the bun. I had hunters chicken which to be fair wasn't that bad but chicken was quite dry even with the BBQ sauce, perhaps over cooked? The coleslaw is absolutely vile and the chips were cold. I had 1 coke & my partner had 1 cider and our bill was £38, definitely not worth the money!! All of the tables were dirty, the toilets were absolutely filthy and the food was horrible. Will definitely not return here & wouldn't recommend it.

i had a voucher for 2 starters and mains with a bottle of prosecco and my friend and i were really looking forward to it. when we got there we were early so bought a glass of wine each which was actually warm but we thought we would give the place the benefit of the doubt. we ordered our starters and my friend ordered the jalapenos which she couldn't eat as they were raw, we waited and waited for our prosecco and there was no one behind the bar for at least 20 minutes. eventually we ordered our mains and eventually the prosecco came unchilled and with a 'fresh blackberry' in the glass which was covered in 'white stuff', needless to say we never drank it. the mains were disgusting, cold and inedible. I know this was a voucher and maybe shouldn't expect too much but the service, food and wine was just the worst!!! I have contacted the voucher company to let them know about this place.

We booked vip booth here for my friends 22nd birthday! What a lot of ****! The staff are so rude and ignorant! We were sat at a table and made to wait 1 hour before we were sat at our vip table! Prior to entering the club..they refused my friend as they said he was 'too drunk'.. he had 2 drinks before entering the club! Unreal! They however decided to let him in then 1 hour in the club decided to throw him out! Again he wasn't drunk... I was more drunk than him. Absolute Disgrace!!!! I would defo not recommend anyone to go to this club! Staff should be ashamed of themselves! Will be sure to tell everyone of our experience here!!!! Mad is an understatement! !!!

Had a two course for two with prosecco voucher. Glad I hadn't paid full price. Although I had booked over a week in advance we were sat by the door squeezed beside a group of people who were on a drinking session. The food was average. If you want a quiet meal then don't go here. If you want to watch football on a big screen and get involved with a noisy bunch then you'll be quite happy. Toilets a bit grubby too.

Three of us had express lunches there today and they were really very good indeed. The Nachos starters were amazing. MMmmm. I would go back for those again! They were a really filling starter which went down well with us. The mushroom starter was ever so slightly overcooked but was very tasty. If you are hungry I would recommend the Nashos rather than the mushroom for starters. We all had burgers for mains with chips. Proper, proper chips made from proper tasty, rustic potatoes. It;s been a while since I had such tasty chips. The whole plate looked and tasted really great. There seems to be several negative reviews of this place but our experience was terrific. The decor is interesting and it is so much more open having the big windows. Staff seemed very friendly. However I would say that even although the lunch was called Express Lunch I don't think that speed is their strong point. But it was a good deal. I would certainly go back again.

We purchased a living social deal for a 2 course meal and bottle of prosecco! We called ahead and booked in advance. Our booking was at 7pm - upon arrival the bar was exceptionally busy where 2 staff members appeared flustered and serving - I walked around to see if there were seats while the other person waited in the queue. The bar was full of celtic fans watching their European leg, in their football colours!! I am a football fan myself and of the two of us who were out our choices are mixed, however I do not feel it's appropriate for football colours in the bar! We spoke to a member of staff and advised them we had a booking but that there no seats - one member of staff frantically checked a diary before saying to someone who appeared to be a bar manager. At that point we were told they would sort a table - the manager could be seen going over to a group of fans and pulling a table infront of them. At this time we had to speak to him and say that this was not fair on the fans to put us at a table infront of them which would block their view or fair on us to be sat literally in the middle of someone's view attempting to enjoy a quiet night out! The manager Stated that he was sorry and didn't know the game was on so didn't know to expect such a crowd - which we told him was highly unbelievable as they advertised on their website that they were showing the game so they knew it was on & knew we had a booking - poor managing...definitely would not recommend! Thankfully received a refund and went somewhere much better!

Popped in to take advantage of the 2 cocktails and nachos deal advertised on the website as all day every day to be told it's not on today. Something to do with the merchant festival or just false advertising. No wonder the reviews are poor for this place. Get it right and don't offer what you can't deliver

Visited recently with friends for cocktails and was greeted with very friendly staff and the cocktails were really well made and presented. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to go out on a night out as it has a great atmosphere and is reasonably priced.

Some of the reviews online seem to be negative but the owner Brian could not have been more friendly or helpful with our party of 4 for Afternoon Tea & Prosecco. The sandwiches and cakes were fresh and delivered with a smile. Give the lounge a chance - it is not The Ritz and you only get what you pay for but the friendliness of Brian takes it to a really good level for a good place to chat and have a bite to eat. What more can you look for - Brian is the new owner and is doing his best with different ideas to please his clientele - so make sure you support him and pop along for a visit - come on Glasgow !!!! - we are well known for our hospitality so give him a chance - maybe some of the previous reviews had some teething problems but you should inform the owner Brian before you leave his establishment if you are unhappy and he can then deal with it. DO NOT say nothing then vent your anger on Trip Advisor.

Had my hen night booked since February when this was still the libertine, was going to change the venue after it was bought by g town but was convinced to keep it there by staff and lots of promises of what they could do for me on the night to make it special. Epic fail. Arrived for my hen do at 7 only to find that the tables I had asked to be reserved were being used, was told there would be prosecco glasses on the tables for us and reservations and there wasn't. Had to have an uncomfortable chat with a lovely member of bar staff who quickly fixed this but disappointed given that I had been told this would all be done for us arriving. Bar ran out of prosecco at one point, debit cards weren't accepted which was a pain, price of drinks depended on member of staff, seemed inconsistent, and security /staff were overly pushy at leaving time. Was told the bar was open til one when I booked. It closed at 12 much to everyone's surprise. Was told the dj would make a fuss over us. Didn't happen, was told the club downstairs would be open and I would get free entry and accompanied by butlers in the buff, club wasn't due to open for another week. No one let us know this till the very end of the night. The venue seems a bit tired even though its just been acquired. Overall the night was great as it was my hen and we made the most of it but wouldn't rush back. Much better bars in the area.

The worst eating out experience of my life, booked a table for 4 using a pre paid voucher, offering 3 course meal with 2 bottles of wine. After handing over our voucher we were to,d there was no white wine only red or rose, which I immediately stated would not suit as I do nor like it, we were them assured the White wine was on it's way and would only be 5 mins as the manager was on his way with it, this I accepted with no problem...meanwhile my future daughter-in- law went to the ladies only to find that in all cubicles there was no toilet paper , after pointing this out to the one member of staff who appeared to be doing everything, she was told she would inform manager when he came in ( perhaps he has gone for the toilet roll along with the wine) Eventually after 40 mins the wine arrived along with our starter we had only just poured the wine when my son bit into his chicken wings only to find they were frozen on the inside despite being steaming hot on the outside..after complaining and saying that we were leaving as we had had enough by this time..we were met with abuse and a refusal to return our voucher which they later redeemed and were paid for...voucher company refusing to take any responsibility, as they are only agents for restaurant..needless to say we will not be back and have been £41 out of pocket with nothing to show for it

This place was very quiet when we went in - only 2 other tables occupied. They had handed flyers into our office which is why we decided to try it. Staff were nice and pleasant I have to say, We ordered our food - simple order 4 cheeseburgers. We then waited 35 minutes for our food to be delivered and the cheese was in a little container beside the burgers! The only good thing I can say about it is that the chips were nice. The burgers were dry, cheese was dry, bun was dry - it was basically awful and considering we had waited 35 minutes for it to arrive certainly not worth the wait!We asked for the bill and the girl came up and asked for £28 - we asked for an actual bill - so she went away and came back about 10 minutes later with a handwritten bill which was for over £29!!!! We then said that on the flyers they handed out the food we had asked for with a glass of wine should have been £6 each (there were 4 of us) - so she went away then came back with another handwritten bill which was for under £24!!!! Not impressed at all - there is so much competition in town for the lunch business that I doubt anyone who has eaten in here recently will be back. We certainly wont.

Been using this chippy since a was a kid (like most folk my age in the drum) Under the last owners it had went right down hill by the end but since its been taken over and done up,it really is back to its best. Staff are always cheerful, again this wasnt always the case towards the end of the last regime) and the foods lovely. Solid wee chippy overall.

Stopped by for lunch and had the lentil soup which was great. Decided to treat myself to the £5 raspberry pistachio traybake cake- which does not taste of either. It is lemon loaf traybake with cerise fondant and a few pistachios sprinkled on top. Looks better than it tastes, very disappointing. Far too sweet.
