Fuller's Fish 'n' Chips in Daventry

I just wanted hot potato with salt and vinegar. I also wanted roe so hoped for battered roe and a potato scallop. None ready so I opted just for chips, half an hour before closing at 8pm. Cold, old, horrible chips.

We came in today 09/10/24 @ 15:50pm As anonymous Google Food Reviewers, we ordered 2x battered sausage, 2x chips 2 x curry sauce and one large battered Cod, I'm gonna put it out there and say it was one of the worst Battered Fish I've had in my life, the batter was thin and soggy, although the chips were the correct colour the chips were Luke warm and not roasting hot, the battered sausages wasn't very good either although they had more batter than the fish the sausage was very pale looking on the inside. I would highly recommend buying a temperature probe to control the temperature of any foods before they leave the store/shop as I'm assuming the food wasn't the correct temperature legally to sell it, something in which Enviromental health may consider wanting to look at. Overall the service and atmosphere was 100% it's a real shame that the food was a mere 10%. If that. I've heard that this chip shop many years ago was very different and that people would come from around Northampton to eat the chips !!! Now I highly recommend that people travel to a different chip shop and avoid this one.

First and last time - worst Fish & Chips I've ever had. Fish greasy beyond belief and chips hard like they had been reheated.

The food was good, but the service was slow, and although I got there first two other people got their chips before me for some reason.

Just spent over £15 in there for two pies, with chips, plus a bottle of "Vinegar", one onion and a gherkin. Food was shocking. It was a slow night and ours had obviously been hanging around a long while.

Down side was fish not boned or skinned. Pineapple fritters were amazing however.

Had the haddock, nice batter and well cooked but not skinned or boned.

This was the worst fish and chips I have ever had. The chips were white, hard and cold. The fish was small and the batter was soggy almost as if it wasn’t cooked. The mushy peas had no taste. The place was filthy could do with a good clean and decorating. Staff were rude, waited over 25 minutes for food that was obviously reheated but was still cold. If you don’t want food poisoning stay away.

Sounds like it's changed in the 4 years since I reviewed this chippy,so many one ✨ stars,sounds dreadful now.

Not used these guys for a while - just popped in for a Saturday eve chips n doner kebab and it was absolutely spot on - chips where perfect - doner meat was tasty and the salad was fresh - oh and the chilli sauce was banging! Keep up the good work guys

Best fish n chips in Northampton very friendly well worth a visit.

This chip shop used to be very good, however over the 18 months it has changed and the food is not nice. The oil is over used to cook the food and the quality of the ingredients are poor. I have chucked three meals away from there over the past year and will not be going back. I’ve had meals from there that were okay, but given it’s never good or excellent I now go elsewhere for chips.

Have been here on various occasions as my uncle is a local resident, have always had wonderful food and good service, in fact my uncle recently lost his car license and so I have got him a mobility scooter, on the first outing down there the staff came out to greet him and make sure that he was ok. This level of service and care is above and beyond what you could possibly expect.

Hit and miss on the food, really not welcoming, every time I have been in there it's like I am an inconvenience and they can't be asked, watching, everyone gets treated the same.

So far they have been consistently great quality and I always make a point of dropping by whenever I'm in the mood for fish and chips 🌟👏👏

Having never been to this chippy I thought I’m in the area so I’ll try it.. bad mistake chips was fresh but the pie must of been in there for days couldn’t eat it had to throw it in the bin!! Pie was solid must of been reheated loads of times .. avoid food poisoning in the making!!!

Sadly not what it was . Staff miserable and talking amongst themselves. No aprons on . No hygiene certificate . Fish and chips were not very nice . Such a shame could be a lovely addition to the village .

"Under new management" is often seen as good thing, when new people take over a tired, failing business. Unfortunately, in this instance, it's the opposite. These people have taken over a good business with a solid local reputation and made a complete mess of it. You could cut them some slack if they had only just taken over but it's been a couple of years now and they are still useless! "Under new management" really should read "my first fish and chip shop". They could have at least grabbed a job in McDs for a couple of months before taking on the business, at least they'd have some sort of idea on how to run a kitchen during busy hours. Everyone knows Friday evenings are the busiest time for fish and chips, I mean, who hasn't heard of "Friday night, fish night"? The owners of this fish shop apparently. Why isn't any food precooked on a Friday evening?! What exactly is the point of the heated food bins?! When this place gets busy (mainly self-inflicted through disorganisation) one owner just hides around the back, the other just freezes like a rabbit in the headlights and goes silent, no help to the poor staff. Ignore the 4-star rating, they inherited the previous owners reviews. Look at recent reviews, this star rating is only going in one direction. Lucky they don't have any local competition.

Called in for a bag of chips to share ,unfortunately they weren't cooked , took them back and made them aware had another bag but unfortunately not much better probably we just had a not so good portion

Such a shame as this chip shop used to thrive but now has no menus all the tvs are gone and a microwave to heat your food up absolute let down should be closed down for many reasons 🙁big disappointment

Fish and chips tasty even though the batter, for me, was a bit to thick and stodgy. It would of been nice to have a smile or even a how you doing today, the only conversation with the 3 guys was "do you want salt and vinegar"?

Absolutely disgusting went in at 8.15pm to be told no chips what kind of business are you running

Had high expectations but the food was just basic. Chips were average and portion size was small (I ordered large but it small in comparison to many others). Ordered a regular Cod too, this was fairly tasteless and the batter was not crispy, it was very thin and soggy to the point it 2as falling off the fish (not in a good way). Sorry guys, I'll give you another chance at some point in the future if I'm around the area but first impressions on the food is just basic.

Try stick to kebab meat instead of trying to be a chip shop

All cooked while you wait. Best batter ever

Pre ordered my food arrived 5 mins after they said it would be ready and food wasn’t ready. Waited for 20 mins and then they tried to give me someone else’s order. Turns out that another customer had been given my order and had been holding it in the shop for 10 minutes. Then they tried to get me to pay more even though I’d paid the price quoted over the phone. No apology was given from the staff or any offer to refresh the food. We placed a large order and the food was cold by the time we ate it. The batter was totally soggy and the paper surrounding the fish was completely soaked in oil. The shop wasn’t particularly busy, the staff just lack attention to their customers and no customer service skills!

Worse fish and chip shop ever, order took down wrong so then had to have a refund then waited over 20 mins for 2x pie/chips and curry sauce. Got home and wasn't able to eat it as uncooked so went straight in the bin. Waste of 15 quid and I'm still hungry!! Normally go to lovely Boothville chippy but it's shut Mondays so lesson learnt no fish and chips on a Monday.

Dreadful service took our order fine then 20mins later of waiting I ask I think fhat customer as taken my order they replied no chance we’ll guess what he had so I had to wait another 20mins fine mistakes happen but not even a apology from the staff unreal kind regards Maurice

Lovely meals, nice and hot, large chips serves 2-3 people.

Just popped in for cod and chips. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. There's free parking out the front but it's only for about three cars and it can get quite busy. Well worth the wait though.

I and my partner, who is a regular customer, have just had the worst kebab we have ever had!!! I return to Fullers for a replacement, and to be honest! It wasnt much better!!! Will never use them again!!!

First visit back in Moulton after a few months away. Fish and chips tired - always used to be cooked fresh. Can’t speak for other items on menu. I’ll give this one a miss in future. Counter staff polite and friendly.

I turned up at 1830 18/10/22. I ordered a large chicken kebab & salad. I see the guy bringing the chicken in a “vacuum packet” and started cooking the chicken. Within a couple of hours, I was getting feeling ill. The next day I had regular sickness and diarrhoea all day. When I spoke to them on the phone, he said “what do you want me to do about it” and when I said “well I don’t want any food!” He told “f@#k off then” He said it’s was something else that made me I’ll. the last time I ate before this was 17/10/22, as I intermittent fast for health reasons. Disgusting , food and attitude

Be aware that this business has changed hands since most of the reviews were posted. It's now basically a kebab shop, and not even a very good one at that.

Food was very nice however wait time was far to long.

Stopped en route in my Asda van for chips. First time visit. Chips are gorgeous as was my Chicken & Mushroom pie on par with my home town favourite chip shop. Highly recommend if your in the area. You won't be disappointed. Will be back.

They have a tendency to under cook. On two occassions I have been served savaloys cold in the middle and today the batter on the fish was undercooked and doughy inside. Sadly thats me done with this shop which is a shame because when they do get it right it has been good but three seperate underdone experiences is too many.

2years ago this was a brilliant fish and chip shop. Since it changed hands isn’t as good . Food very greasy and slummy raw batter in the fish not really even worth one star. Won’t be back

I waited about 15 mins for chicken to be cooked but when I got home it wasn't cooked, chips were nice though

New management lovely chips yesterday

there is a lady that puts to much keckup on my chips and she just dabs it on she doesn't do it nicely like one of the men that work there and the lady is rude because she keeps saying if your not buying anything get out the shop and she keeps rolling her eyes because one lady said can I have some tissues please and she just rolled her eyes and gave it to her

I go there every Friday for Cod & chips. It's always great.

Had to wait too long for chicken leg (over 10 mins - think they forgot to put in frier). Had wrapped my fish together with chips and kept warm while waiting for chicken, hence batter was soggy. There seemed to be an atmosphere between staff, no smiles for customers … and despite the rules, staff didn’t have masks! Chicken was a little dry and not much meat … chips were just warm. Will not return.

Really good and popular but dropped a star because of the 10 minute wait.

Will never use it again, I ordered ahead so I wouldn't have to wait while they cooked my food, only to find that they only started to cook my food after I had payed because they were to busy filling delivero orders.

Been absolutely brilliant until this week total waste of money was my treat for the week swimming in oil/grease roll not fresh bottom of roll rung the oil out cheese that was non existent it was disgusting oil not fresh either had to bin it would have put no stars but couldn't post until I put one star 🤑

Sign outside said "Under new management", that should have been my first warning! I ordered a medium fish and chips, the fish was pre-battered and frozen and dipped in hot oil in front me. The chips were from a frozen bag and literally opened in front of me by the frier team. The cooked fish was extremely oily, and the chips were burnt. The portion of chips was good, but quality was too poor to even finish half of it. If your primary selling point is you do fish and chips, a British classic, don't cheap out and do the least amount of effort. The quality of the food is so subpar that you would be better off buying frozen breaded cod from Tesco and cooking that in an oven, you would get a dramatically better meal.

After looking at the latest reviews we decided to go. When we pulled up to the shop it said “ under new management “ well we should of left then. There was three people behind the counter all looking like they didn’t no what they was doing. Ordered two sausage and chips and at this point no one else in there. It took 20min to collect and the chips were under cooked and batted sausage soggy. If we wasn’t so far away at the time, I would of took them back and asked for a refund. Don’t waste your money, just a shame the it’s changed hands.

10 December 2020 Very poor hygiene: no hair nets, no overalls/aprons, no gloves and no evidence of cleaning hands between taking payment and serving next customer. Very disappointing. Doesn’t matter what the food tastes like if it comes out of a dustbin, it still came out of a dustbin.

I fancied a change from my regular chippy and decided to try here. It was quite busy at the time and after waiting around 20 mins, I picked up the order and drove 10 minutes home. The food was a bit cold when I got home and I had to put it in the oven to heat it up - the chips didn't seem to be wrapped too well and lost their heat quickly. Once warmed up a bit, the fish and sausages were fine but the chips were very dry and not a patch on my regular chippy. I really wanted to like it after having heard good things about it but to be honest, I was disappointed.

New owners. Food was good. Large Fish and chips. Impressed with the new packaging. We will be back again

I ordered 3 large kebabs they were all very small compared to the preview owners . I asked for my chilli sauce to be separate as my young son could have some . I did get a separate sauce but the sauce was also all over the meat

We have recently moved to the area. Tonight we decided to have our first chippy since we moved in back in December last year. I have to say the food was just about edible. We ordered two regular cods and shared a large chips, and had a saveloy on the side to share. The cod was average at best, the chips tasted like they had been through atmospheric re-entry - dry cold and tasteless, and the saveloy was so appalling we both took one bite out of it, spat it out and stuck the rest straight in the bin, it tasted like it had just been sat boiling away in a pan of water. Price wasn’t bad but I’d rather travel a bit further and pay an extra few quid if it means our food is fresh and hot.

Amazing food, amazing staff. Highly recommend going here. They have a massive menu selection and Preeti’s Indian food is a true reflect on how proper Indian food should taste like. Never disappointed.

Probably one of the best chip shops in Northampton now plus they sell Indian food as well havnt tried curries .kebabs are good too.And too boost real mushy peas not processed .Seems very hygienic too.

Great chips, great fish, service with a smile... If you are lucky. Woman barks orders at staff and you get the feeling you are a hindering them finishing early. A smile goes a long way.

What a disappointment, ordered 2 regular fish, when unwrapped one was half the size of the other and covered in thick stoggy batter. The actual amount of fish was minimal, this is not the first time this has happened. Definitely won't be returning, wish I had taken a photo of it.

This is my favourite chip shop in the world. Along with fish and chips, the shop serves kebabs, and Indian food too, plus has a fridge full of drinks (including Irn-Bru) and a milkshake machine. Service is generally quite fast, and portion sizes are good.
