Frydays Traditional Fish & Chips in Derby

Is this place under new ownership? Used to be a really good chippy. The portion sizes more recently have been massively reduced and the chips and sausage tasted like they were fried hours before they were served to me. Not good!

Poor had a bag of chips today had to throw them away all rotten black and grey you shouldn’t serve chips and use potatoes that are rotten. It used to be a good chippy, but I don’t know what’s happened lately. I was that disgusted. I actually took a photo. I just don’t know how to attach it.lol

Good was great, however i don't expect to smell unwashed staff over the smell of fish & chip's

Never going to these ever again I was on the toilet after eating their kebab the food is disgusting I don't know what they put in their kebab meat but it's really horrible the first time I had one off these that it wasn't so bad but I had one last night and I was on the toilet every five minutes discussed in

Long wait as food was being freshly cooked so not a complaint, really enjoyed the fish and chips.

What a disappointment! Ordered chicken tikka, i.e. chicken cubes marinated in yoghurt and spices and cooked quickly. The picture on their wall assured me this was what I was getting. When it came, I could see a bit of chicken sticking out of the tray and it didn't look red like in the picture, so I queried it and was told it was indeed chicken tikka. At home I found it was the chicken doner meat and not chicken tikka. Soggy chips too. So I ate a bit of it and found no spiciness whatsoever. Threw it away. Also had asked for a cheese and onion fry and hash browns. The cheese and onion fry fell apart, so they added a potato scollop to make up for it. All were found to be soggy and not crisp and tasted like they'd been fried in old pol. Most of this got thrown too.

Under new management now and way better than before 10/10!

Food was delicious especially their garlic naan with tandoori chicken. Delivery guy was very friendly and was on time.

Food portions are generous, tasty fish and chips, will defiantly buy again.

we have ordered here so many times thru just eat however today it said it was no longer on just eat so we ordered through the website for 7pm, it is now 7:50 and we have called numerous times to which we have gotten no answer and they have collected the payment too. used to be our favourite place however we are very disappointed this time.

Good food, prices cheaper than others, plenty of chips.

Always pop in here with me little girls before a home game ( Derby County). Lovely chippy very good service aswell.

Im a regular here for their Donner Nuggets! Something different and taste amazing!

The pizza is very doughy, the sauce had no flavour. Would not recommend. The chips are usually OK however. The batter needs some work

Where do I start charged me way to much.When confronted was very rude and told me prices are cheaper online. Been going here a while now and never been bad until new ownership recently. Ordered a chicken Donner and chips the worst chicken donner I've ever had no flavour what so ever just like plain chicken.Also got a pizza a while ago thought maybe a one of made me feel sick cooked within 5 minutes also got a chicken burger same time which seemed yellowish inside signs of spoilage. I can honestly say I will never be going back here

Chips were ok the was a pie and was decent. However worst quality fish/sausage and nuggets. Very poor quality meet. The batter was soggy and chewey.

I've Had better, but I've also definitely had much worse. I'd say mid level quality. I'd possibly buy from there again. I'd definitely say they were worth a try.

Chicken nuggets with fries please

This is one of the best chips shop in Derbyshire curry sauce was out off this world and the chips were bang on fish the chicken wings battered sausage worth the money .guys keep the hard work going .thank you

Portions could be a bit better. Food was Cooked well.

Chips were ok, but the saveloys were stone cold. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect my food to be hot.

I go here every Thursday lunchtime and have a kebab meat and chips. Portions are great, and the price is good

Been a couple of times, food is good and the prices are great. Definitely get your money's worth.

Fish and chips £9 but make sure you say you don't want salt n vinegar because he puts it on and asks you later.

Ordered over £30 on just eat waiting for 30 min to find the order cancelled from frydays end.. not the first time this has happened

Great chippy. Apart from the chicken kebab

I’ve rang up for a delivery, the man wasn’t polite he tried saying they don’t do beef burgers. After that I started my order he put the phone down I called back and him and another man both said they would call me back in 10 minutes as they were busy. I requested to have my order completed as I have a child to feed and they then went and put the phone down again.

Excellent food both times I've been here, the fryer was also serving so the food was hot. The unfortunate thing is the fact it has a near enough derelict pub next door which gives an unloved feel to the whole row of shops

Wow oooo wow!!! Just left the chip shop after a arguement with the male ( assuming owner) after he charged me £8.80 for a Donner kebab and cone of chips... I stated it should have been £7.30! The board shows £5.50 for Donner kebab £1.80 for the chips.... I questioned the price and he said it's because I've had it on nann bread... So hence why the extra £1.80 charge... So I asked how is this? So just Donner meat on its own is £5.50 😕🤨 and he basically threw £1 back at me... Pure and utterly rude will definitely not be returning after this encounter!!

Amazing food from a family run business A*

I’m sat here eating the hardest chips ever cooked, served with attitude , hideously over priced and I’ve seen raw chicken placed on cooked chicken on the skewer, I’m no health and safety inspector but even I know that’s an absolute madness.

been in numerous times hoping for a better experience as its my closest chippy by a long shot. the woman that works there has the worst attitude, the food is always stale, the battered sausages are like rubber. they over charge you, that or there prices on the menu are incorrect. avoid.

Would have given it 0 stars if I could chips was awful luke warm and soggy eaten 1 thrown the rest to the birds if they had the guts to eat them never again

Just started using these and really impressed. I'm a bit fussy about new places and risked a doner kebab, but it was great, proper chipshop chips as well, well worth a look, added to my [small] list of regulars!!

Great chippie food is fantastic best fish in Alvaston and possibly Derby.Not had better at any chippies in Derby.Chicken kebabs are very nice,well seasoned and descent quality. The staff are very polite please try them out you will not be disappointed.

Why do most Chippys fail to do fish properly. Batter too thick and soggy, fish inside tasteless. Chips were average and the peas were average too. Only went there through laziness, won't be going back. I'd rather go hungry

tried to tell me chicken breast should be so hard you cant even chew it. never going there again, sooner starve to death than pay to eat the poop they serve there

Cheap and cheerful chip shop. The choice to also be an off license is a strange one though and I'm not sure it works...
