Does what it says on the tin. You get what you pay for - the place could do with a good deep clean and a coat of paint, and it smells a bit musty and dusty. But the linens and towels were clean, the shower hot with good water pressure and the bed comfortable - a perfectly adequate place to spend the night if you want to catch the ferry in the morning.

The beds were freshly made, the rest of the room was not. Garbage from previous visitors was still there and dust could have been vacuumed. Furthermore, it is well located for the boat to Hoek van Holland.

There are a few hotel rooms behind the pub. We had booked 2 rooms: no window with a view, only a window above the door. Hot and stuffy, dirty (crumbs and dust, dirty bathroom). Old container with tea/coffee/sugar, also covered in dust. Door to room and associated bathroom is stuck, difficult to close. Alley runs past rooms, the pub's toilet is also in the alley. We heard a pub visitor vomit three times.... Furthermore, we had no noise pollution from the pub. Not again for us, the price per room was indeed cheap, but even then you expect at least hygiene and a reasonably pleasant immediate environment. Not recommended in our opinion. Very close to the boat from Harwich to Hoek van Holland, only 5 minutes by car.

Basic hotel with renovated room that would certainly receive more appreciation if the plague of sewer flies were not present. Bedding and bathroom are clean. The fixed pillows and bedspreads also need to be washed from time to time. Provide more sound insulation between bar and rooms. (tip for the manager) Comparatively better than nearby Premier Inn.

Beds were dirty under the sheets. Lots of sweat spots and sagging.

Spent 2 nights. Room basic but clean private bathroom clean a good shower. Towel hooks and plug for the basin would have been useful. Bed and pillows comfortable. Quiet at night. Lovely friendly atmosphere in the bar. Would stay there again

My email request for room with separate beds ( as shown on website) was ignored. The barman (in not a clear sober state) showed us the way to room 2. The matress of the double bed in this room is falling apart. Because of the old carpet the atmosphere was very dusty. We had a bad nightsleep.

Good value, safe parking, convenient for harwich ferry

Room was clean and comfortable, just noisy people in next room disturbing sleep

Warm and quiet room. Bathroom hadn't been cleaned. Only one light. On-street crowded parking.

Nice quiet room. Room was clean enough but some things require urgent attention. Radiator needs cleaning properly, pillow, mattress and duvet protectors needed, bed runner needs cleaned after every guest as it is very badly stained

Never been in a room were the bed looked clean and you still can smell the parfume of the person before you lying on the same sheets. The carpet in the room was not vacuum cleaned for quit some time and the shower needs a good scrub!!

In a quiet area but still close to Colchester and motorways. Very elegant classy hotel with posh fixings. The room is very clean and the staff are extremely friendly.

It couldn't be any closer to the harbor...that was the only positive thing. After the drunken visitors to the pub loudly greeted us, we were taken to the room by a (this is serious) nice young man. (now please look at the pictures below) We then looked for other hotels in the area. Unfortunately everyone was fully booked. We then preferred to sleep in the car. Ps.: Cancellation was not possible

It is better not to keep your expectations high.
