FRITES Belgian Hand Cut Fries in Glasgow City

Love the yummy curry loaded chips, some portion for the price , struggle to finish a medium portion, the server is also brand new, would highly recommend 👌⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I thought a place called frites would have good chips. I was wrong, awful chips with very average toppings, wouldn’t recommend unless your very drunk

Food is overpriced and the owner likes to short change you, especially when the food is overpriced, so if you ever fall into this place, please check your change, another thing he handles the cheese and chips etc with no hand protection, and tbh the owners a wee ✊️💦 with an attitude problem another reason I've barred myself from this place.

I do wish I'd read the reviews first before going here. First the good, service was great. The guy chatted away asking how I was, if I was going back to work. Then the fries were nice, now they are not Belgian fries, I was in Belgium this year so can attest, but they were decent. The bad, I think I paid just under ten pounds for my meal. The toppings (peri peri) were not good at all. That brought the food rating right down. I think if it's a night out and you've had a few drinks you will enjoy this but it wasn't for me. I don't think I'll be back.

Pleasent surprise grabbing a burger chips before a train. Burger quality was night and day above any fast food place, chips were chips, salad was fresh. Staff were friendly, place was clean and food was a quick turnaround. Definitely be back in in the future

Absolutely the most disgusting takeaway ever been to in my life the hygiene inside the takeaway is horrible and i feel bad for anyone who tries these disgusting oily fries🤮🤢 Please i beg take this as a sing to never EVER come here because u will infact get food poisoning 🤢🤮🤮🤮

Service was excellent, food was bad. The chips are soggy and the toppings were not nice.

Cheap and fast food, and you can negotiate the price of your combo meal with the owner.

Fantastic food place. I’ve been here a few times to get the loaded fries as they are fantastic. My favourite is the chicken tikka loaded fried. Cooked fresh in front of you. I usually get the large size for around £7 and it is a push to finish them all. They don’t skimp out on the meat either. Staff are very friendly and always happy for a little chat. I bring all my friends here for food every time they come to visit.

I live on the same street and thought I would give them a try. I didn't go for anything adventurous, just chips. Not sure what Belgian Frites are meant to taste like but I enjoyed the chips and found the staff to be super friendly. I will return to try other things on the menu.

Absolutely terrible service, owner is so abrupt. So entitled and rude, nothing like the service in Edinburgh one. Guy needs a reality check!

The Belgians will be severely disappointed. Frites rip off with soggy chips, hardly any cheese and poor communication from staff. The only bright sides were the ok masala chips and irn bru. The server also under charged us. Still not worth the money we paid.

Tried for the first time yesterday, never had chips like it they were amazing! Went back for a second round later. Very helpful staff too

Awful, everything was just awful. Terrible people trying to skimp on the food. Barely any cheese on chips, pizza was way to greasey which wasn't what I ordered but ate because it took so long. Chips were quite dry as well

The peri peri chips are outstanding, staff are friendly and chatty. The chips are cooked fresh and are crispy and light in the middle. The peri peri curry tastes amazing.

Cheap supermarket chips deep fried and sold at a premium. Pointless, if not actually insulting.

So, I think their Indian food is nice, but they need to work on the rest. We ordered 3 things. Chicken Puri puri fries: the chiken puri puri was really good. The fries were nice inside, but do need to be crispier. The hamburger was generous meat, but was just okay. The pizza was our least favoite. I think the dough was not homemade or something. They're super nice people. I really hope they can make the necessary improvements to stay in business.

Don't confuse this with pomme frites that used to be on sauchiehall street, it's nothing like it. The chips are not crunchy, crispy fries that you would expect, they are soft, chunky and tasteless. Got the garlic mayo on them and they were drowning in the sweetest, overly tangy mayo I've ever tasted. Tried to pick out the ones with the least amount of mayo but I ended up binning most of them. Definitely avoid

Ordered a pepperoni pizza all I could taste was garlic. Think the garlic factory exploded,everyone in the taxi queue was complaining of the garlic smell. Good job I wasn't trying to pull.

I got their chicken tikka dirty fries and they were delicious.

It has Improved massively since it first opened. Chips were much better now and pakora is lovely. Hopefully they start home delivery

Belgium should take this place to court. I travel alot to Belgium/Netherlands and had their frites. These were a poor imitation. They were more like chips you get at the burger fan at the football. Pale in colour and undercooked. Not at all like they are advertised. If I did not have to catch a train I would have went back. Seriously disappointed as was looking forward to them. If you are on Hope St and want good chips go to Crollas further up. Will not be back

This is the first time that I put one star for the rating. That all happened because one of the staff said to me that taking a photo is not allowed. And I told him that I wanted to help you, you should thank me for this service because I want to put your restaurant on Google maps! He said that taking a photo of the kitchen is not allowed, and he knows that I'm not taking pictures of the kitchen. It is just for the blackboard that it mentions (Special Burger). I hope the manager tells the staff members how the rating is critical.
