Friends in Leicester

We had a great night. The food was well prepared on the day, I could taste the ingredients were fresh and care was taken in the cooking process. The dhal was flavoursome and smokey, breads were soft, fish was tasty. Spices were used well, not too much not too little. We even got a free dessert, which was excellent, Gulab Jamun and cream with beetroot halwa. The the staff showed us everything was handmade. Portions were great, starters were generous. The staff were excellent, took the time to talk to us and explain things, they were also entertaining and extremely friendly. Thank you for a great night. 😊.

Absolutely superb food, I highly recomend, from the serive they cant please enough, and tot he food whic is delicious. Bring from Indian Heritage and tried most restaurants around Leicester, this is by far and away the best. Dont hesitate

Really delicious food. Friendly service. Karachi chicken and achaai gosht (mustard lamb) delicious. Fresh chutneys with pops. V clean. Definitely will be back.

Superb food…. Always delivers a quality meal with solid curry flavours and just the right heat. Staff are very attentive and very helpful marking sure you get the right curry for your pallet. Would always recommend to anyone in the area on the look out for a quality curry

Excellent as usual. We both had the chichen biriyani. It was the best that we have ever eaten. Good service as well. Will be back.

My 2nd visit. I raved about it after first visit and my family thought couldn’t be as good as I said. They are all very fussy about Indian food. They did not disappoint! All said was best they had ever had. We tried each others and all amazing. All meats were cooked to perfection and sauces all delicious. Food not too heavy or oily but still filled me up as so delicious couldn’t leave anything. Service so friendly and even given bunch of flowers for Mother’s Day. We have all tried a large variety of Indian food and this is by far the best.

Love queens road always there in vsrious bars. So excited to get a new Indian especially one with the recognised name of Friends which i have loved over the years . I really wanted it work so it could be my new local. Alas despite the warm welcome the staff where beyond useless . Ehen ordering thry seemed to be unaware of the dishes with me having to say the word bhaji several times before they understood. When the main finally arrived it was delivered to the wrong table then dumped on our table without tellingus which meal was which. I got up and asked eventually somebody pointed out which was which. When the main man wslked past and asked ok i replied well we despite anybody not knowing what they doing we got food eventually. His reply was " staff are staff mate don't worry the management are even worse" I so wanted this this to be good but it wasnt to be.

As always Friends never disappoints. Friendly attentive waiter and waitress and the food was delicious. The Aloo Cholley and king prawn goanese were so good. Clean, friendly and always top food.

Amazing meal. Accommodated to a big group booking - staff were attentive & helpful. As so many of us was a set menu with plenty of choice the food just kept coming. Will be back!

Wow - I love Indian food and am so pleased to have discovered this place! Pleasant restaurant environment with friendly staff who accommodated our largish party easily. I had the vegetable biriani, which was a joy to eat, fresh and tasty and not oily at all. We also ordered lots of side dishes to share, and each was distinct, cooked in its own sauce (unlike some places that seem to just put different vegetables into the same sauce!) and delicious. The dal was especially lovely. Others in our group really like the lamb dishes they had, and the naan bread was fluffy and excellent.

Used to go years ago when it was on Belgrave Road and I lived in Leicester. Delighted to now see it on Queens Road and it was a curry for the ages. Lovely restaurant where you from start to finish were made to feel most welcome. The food was as good if not better than I remembered and the whole experience was brilliant from start to finish. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in Leicester (I’ve tried a lot). The food is always so tasty and fresh, with plenty of vegetarian options. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our go to restaurant for takeaway and eating in.

Yes, we would buy again (this was our second time) but compared with another restaurant from which we enjoyed take-outs, it is I bit on the expensive side. So, it's a treat when we do get a meal from them. We haven't used the eat-in option of the restaurant other than to collect food, but the atmosphere feels pleasant enough with no irritating loud music. The staff are always very friendly too.

Friends has managed to maintain takeaways of a consistently high standard. The dishes are always the right temperature, full of flavour and as ordered. Full marks to Friends staff for providing a high point to our weekend despite the lockdown restrictions.

Delivery guy phoned me to make sure my address was correct as he couldn't find it in sat nav. I told him more than once the correct address and postcode. He then said to me I must be wrong. I pointed out to him that it must be right because that's where I live! Also bare in mind I had put instructions of the address with the order as I usually do and no other take-away has had problems. He had't left the store yet and said will be ten minutes. Food eventually arrives. It was warm, not hot. I had sweet and sour chicken. The batter was chewy and came in the sauce rather than separate. My husband had Cantonese chicken. It was like flavoured water. The spring rolls were tasteless. The consistency of the fried rice was as if it had been in the tub for a while. Not fresh. The noodles were tasteless also. Just a bad experience from start to finish really. Won't be returning .

We love Friends. The food is always hot, portions are large, food tastes fresh and always full of flavour. We use Friends quite a lot, this one of our favourite takeaways.

always order from here but not no more tonight at 7:05 i got told i would get a call back from the manager within 20mins i am still waiting 2 an half hours later. we ordered a mixed burger which is suposed to be quarter chicken & quarter beef and wen it arrived it was a beef burger with a small chicken strip on top, we also ordered a large mixed kebab which was not worth the money at all a few small thinly sliced pieces ov chicken and a bit ov salad. very dissapointed

Ordered salt&pepper sui mai n crispy duck, enjoyed them both only negative is duck was slightly overcooked so a struggle to shread maybe shread before delivering. Friend ordered cheeseburger meal and said she wanted another so definitely be ordering again.

Ordered a kebab weren't much meat maybe less then a handful and duck and pancakes duck weren't shredded and burnt a whole in the box which melted on to the actual duck and smelt really bad.

1 hour over estimated time arrival. None of the food was correct and was not hot atall it was cold. Tryed to ring the shop itself to speak to someone, nobody would pick up after trying for 30 minutes. Would not recommend this place to anybody! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! I Would Never order again!

Disappointed ! sui mai tasted stale, chicken & sweetcorn soup not as expected for price, savoury cake was grey !! chips and curry nice but overall will not order from here again !.
