French Martini in Basildon

Apparently 27 years old is too old to get in according to the security 😂 who where pretty rude when a group of us turned up. Aged 21 - 40 odd. A family infront of us similar ages where also turned away. Now it did look like a school disco as we walked away so I’m glad we didn’t go BUT that does NOT excuse rude behaviour or attitude or telling people in their 20s they are too old to get in on a Saturday night. Good luck with the venue but yet again more lost customers here 👏

Would not return, expected a bottomless brunch with Prosecco and cocktails of choice. Was served undercooked chicken with packet rice that was smaller than a children’s portion. We were told that we couldn’t have cocktails as there was no bartender on shift, and were given two shots to make up for inedible food. Absolutely disgusting that they think they can serve that kind of food to people and charge £45 per person. We were the only ones in the whole place which was obviously for a reason !!!!!

The restaurant should be closed down. Keep it as a bar and stop serving grotesque food. Truly one of the worst meals we have ever had in our lives. My friends and I booked a bottomless brunch and were not aware that they were only running a "festive menu" - which had 3 options for the starter and the main. This was not advertised online. Had we know we likely would have booked somewhere else. Well, where do I even start. The salmon "en croute" came minus the croute...just a cremated salmon filet alongside roasted veg (no greens as advertised). The turkey dinner "with all the trimmings" was abysmal, trimmings included some roasted veg and one burnt miniature pig in blanket. The roasted butternut squash was literally just that, with zero seasoning, some rock hard overcooked quinoa and the "creamed spinach" was merely some oversteamed soggy spinach. The "bill" came (a handwitten note...says it all really) and they tried to overcharge us. The service was beyond strange, a 14 y/o boy brought our meals over and said "I haven't got a clue what this is" when he put it in front of us. The only saving grace was they offered extra drinks/shots to compensate, which meant staying in a restaurant even longer than we wanted to and getting so drunk on empty stomachs that we headed to the nearest KFC which was michelin star in comparison.

I’m disappointed to say we had a really weird and bad experience here yesterday. We was greeted by an obnoxious waiter as we walked in who didn’t seem to understand “we have a table booked”. After repeating it several times, another lady had to take over and show us to our table. As soon as we sat down, the staff were polite and friendly, however their manager was openly telling them off for looking miserable. Was just awkward. The music was good and they had a waiter with special needs working who was seemingly really enjoying the atmosphere. However, the evening took a turn. He made a real effort to chat to all the customers, however there was lots of inappropriate dancing and we felt like management should have stepped in and stopped this given he was quite clearly vulnerable. For want of a better word, it felt like he was there as a novelty or gimmick for people to laugh at - it was truly uncomfortable!!! After a short while the DJ changed the music to calm everyone down. The waitor I mentioned above came to clear the table but instead of just removing the plates he was scraping all the food from all the plates onto one big plate in front of us. It went on for ages! He clearly just hasn’t been trained so it wasn’t his fault at all!!! Then he gave us drink off of someone else’s table who had since left which obviously we didn’t touch. The manager was really friendly and kept offering us drinks, she didn’t have to do that. But other than that everything was just terrible. The food was below average - not a single vegetable on the roast dinner. When we left our starters were still on the table where things weren’t being cleared away. I returned to French Martini as remember it being nice but they must have changed management. Really really bad! Was like faulty towers!

I am writing to express our extreme disappointment with our recent dining experience at your establishment. Our food was delivered an hour and a half late, which caused great inconvenience for our group. Additionally, a member of our party ordered soup, with no bread, when she inquired about this, she was given a small slice of baguette. Furthermore, we were appalled by the unprofessional behavior of the head waitress, who openly complained about her staff, calling them miserable. The most distressing part of our visit was witnessing the mistreatment of one of your staff members, Luke, who has Down syndrome. He was polite and attentive, but it was clear that other customers were taking advantage of him, with no intervention from your staff. This behavior, including people grinding on him, made us highly uncomfortable and was completely inappropriate. Overall, the quality of the food was not great, and these negative aspects of our experience have left us feeling upset and dissatisfied. We hope that you will take our feedback seriously and address these issues promptly to ensure a more positive experience for future customers.

If I could give it less I would. Booked for an 8pm a la carte meal for 17 people. Turned up to be told to hurry up and order cos the chef needs to go home and the only option is the set menu. Ordered salmon en croute with seasonal greens. Got given a piece of salmon (which was actually nice) minus the croute and minus the seasonal greens. Instead I had a cold Yorkshire and the veg from the other main which was also stone cold. That's before I get started on the tomato soup that was passata, the roast swimming with oil and the melted ice cream for dessert. Add to this a waitress that was beyond rude (re-presented a soup that had been sent back for being cold as 'reheated soup', asked me to hurry people along who were queuing at the bar to order and pointed out she wasn't a silver service waitress) Yeah.... avoid like the plague.

Disappointing experience overall. Only 2 of the 5 meals ordered were served and it took another 20 minutes before they all arrived despite chasing a number of times. Despite it being lunchtime and having been open for a couple of hours, staff were still cleaning and vacuuming from the night before. Despite the food being good, would not visit here again.

Was going to come with friends, turned up and didn’t even go all the way in, there was what seemed like an entire extended family loitering around, talking loudly in a foreign language. They all turned and looked as we came to the door but no one said hello or welcomed us. I don’t know if these were staff members or public; but it didn’t make for a warm welcome and I doubt I’ll come back again.

Brilliant night out for anyone looking to enjoy good music and a dance! All the staff are so friendly always with a smile on their faces and dancing away. The manager Paul…a true gent, making sure everyone is having a good time. French martini…see you next time!

Really nice place great evening

Reason for 1 star is because I booked brunch for a birthday celebration on Easter Monday When we arrived there were 2 members of staff running around trying to clean from the night before as the cleaners, chef and managers had not turned up They were trying to contact the above but none of them were answering They were very opologetic to us and the other group who had also booked. Not sure of the outcome as we went else where

Unfortunately this place is now gone from 10/10 to 1/10, everything you touch in this place is sticky, the breakfast toke so long to make and I was alone in the shop, and breakfast came out warm not hot, there were fluf from cloths or whatever they used to dry the plates, it looked so non appealing from all these, in beginning I thought there were human hair . £17 for breakfast for 1 person, that's included the long nails 💅 who were deeped in your item in your plate on the way to the table, extremely unhygienic in a different level. Ladies who serve there don't have a uniform, or look presentable for eatery. They were eating in the bar for themselves and serving at same time. Not really a pleasure to return back to. £17 down the drain.

French martini Ibiza brunch was so much fun. They was really accommodating for allergies, gluten and vegan options. The hosted an amazing event which was used to celebrate my hen do. Everyone had a brilliant time! The staff are all so lovely especially Dan and Lou! Great atmosphere and music!

This is a lovely place food and entertainment was good not outstanding by any means, but the charge when we booked said £45 and still is today £45, when we got there we were told it had gone up £55 the food wasn’t worth that could be a lot better unless the Perseco with the meal had gone up 🤷‍♀️, someone really needs to sort this out, if you book a meal at a set price like the menu says then that’s the price you pay. Felt ripped off as many of my party did

It's rare that you get a bar that has both excellent food and a great night time vibe. This place has it.

We had our Company’s Christmas Lunch at French Martini and, especially with everything going in in the world at the moment, we had a lot to ask of them to ensure the safety and protection of all in attendance. We had the private room upstairs which was clean and had been kept unused until the event to ensure that we were all safe. With numbers changing day by day, we were not sure of attendance until the morning of the event. The staff at French Martini went above and beyond to accommodate this and were only too helpful and understanding. The food was delicious and would highly recommend FM as a venue for any event or meal.

The food here is so good. We had the christmas menu and it was so lovely. The presentation of the food was amazing and the taste was absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend having dinner here!

I had a Christmas party last night with @envy_aerial_arts and we went to frenchmartinibillericay It was definitely an experience…….We booked the table for 7:30pm and pre-ordered our meals. Our starters arrived at 9pm. We had to repeatedly ask for our food. In the meantime I ordered water and had to ask three times for it. I was buying a drink too so it’s not like I was being tight, I just wanted water. The dance floor opens at 9pm which is conveniently where our table was situated, knowing this they still served our food at 9pm. Whilst trying to eat, we had people grinding in our faces. It was also freezing and I was hungry so I ordered a hot chocolate which looked nice but was watery. When our food finally arrived it was ok, however my friend is wheat intolerant and allergic to mushrooms. They brought her out normal bread with her soup. So not only did she have to wait until she dropped a dress size to actually eat it, it was just liquid. These requirements were given to French martini months in advance. They also served mushroom with her steak after specifically saying she’s allergic causing her to not eat the vegetables provided. And yet again they provided wheat in her dessert. The risotto rice was solid and when sent back they stated it was meant to be like that as it is ‘alla dentty’. Al dente means ‘with a bite’ not with a jaw breaking crunch. This was remade which means our party are seperately also causing our desserts delay. The dessert was chocolate orange tart, however the orange must have been forgotten and replaced with cement as it was a workout to eat. If I knew this I would not have woken up early to go to the gym. No one ate their chocolate orange tart. There was no offer of any sort of compensation to accommodate for the shocking standards which left the person who arranged it feeling upset. We were given shots but most of us were designated drivers.I did not appreciate the wait for low quality food, although the duck croquettes were divine. The service was poor and the lay out was diabolical. When we finally went on the dance floor it had a leaky ceiling

Such a cosy and calming vibe… went there last night with friends to celebrate my 25th and the bar staff and waitresses were so kind and we had a nice chat with the manager who gave us a free birthday cake with a sparkler! The food was really good, loved the burger! Would 100% go there again and highly recommend it to anyone else considering going here! 🥰

Went on Thursday night for drinks and a Christmas meal. We found the staff very friendly and attentive. We had the three course Christmas meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. Two of us had the steak and both of them were cooked perfectly . Lovely cocktails followed by a delicious meal , would recommend and will be back.

Really nice venue, quite small but they did not overfill their covers so our group of 8 had enough room. Waitresses were really attentive and checked on us throughout, we were not left waiting for drinks although there were a few drinks orders they got incorrect but were corrected.We had the 3 course meal, the smoked salmon & spicy white crab meat & the spiced lamb sausage were particularly nice starters. The steaks were cooked as ordered and flavourful, and the roasted cod wrapped in Parma ham was also reported to be lovely. We had an issue where one of our parties pre-order was not recorded. But, the manager & staff went above and beyond to get this rectified.The atmosphere was good, after our meal we danced the night away…one small critique of the DJ was he should have stuck to 80s/90s R&B rather than Garage but this is personal group preference.Would definitely return.

Went with friends for a UK garage night on Saturday and booked a meal before the DJ started. Really wasn't expecting a meal as good as we got! It was beautiful! The food was hot when it came to the table and the portions were perfect. Food was delishous and this definately will not be our only visit. The music was great and the MC was super friendly. DJ played good garage mixes and the crowd didn't stop dancing all night!

One happy repeat customer. I have been frequenting since they opened and have never had a bad meal. Food is always outstanding and service is at equal high standard. No questions, French Martini is the place to go in Billericay xxx

What a gem, in the heart of Billericay. I can't say enough about the lunch service, and delicious food! I have food allergies and the staff went out of their way to ensure that my needs were met. Highly recommend that you try French Martini! I had halloumi sticks as a starter and the pictured chicken souvlaki as my main - scrumptious!! Great food at reasonable prices.

Once again my friend and I embarked on French Martini's 241 steak and cocktails.As per my last visit the steak was cooked perfectly and all the trimming were on point.Our waitresses Maisie and Elle/Ellie were incredibly attentive incredibly professional and delivered first class service.I thoroughly recommend a visit as you will not be disappointed with the food, the setting and importantly the service. We shall be back in a few weeks.

Visited on Saturday night and omg it was brilliant. Then entertainment was fantastic and the restaurant was decorated lovely for Halloween with a lovely Halloween ballon garland. The cocktails were amazing with great effect smoking and bubbling!!Came here to celebrate with my husband and our waitress Paige was brilliant. She honestly did not stop all night she was like a duracel battery non stop always checking if the customers were okay, if they needed a drink and she even remembered peoples drinks orders . Just the service you want The Manager also was such a lovely lady as well Great place highly recommend ❤️

We came here last night for the Halloween event and honestly we had the best night The Bongo player was unreal We was a bit unsure at first as you are not doing any bar service but honestly i can say have a waitress come to you even when standing on the dance floor is quality,We was lucky Enough we had the same girl coming to us and just wanted to say how great she was me and my mates wanted to show appreciation to Paige as she had great banter and was always making sure our drinks were filled up Quality night and will defo make this our regular

I just wanted to let people know that the food and service are top quality I came in here just on a wim as a walk in with a friend this Saturday Morning and with my 1 year old son we ordered our food which they had a great selection on their brunch menu When our food arrived i was trying to get my little one to sit in the high chair and eat so that i could also eat my food The lovely lady with Glasses came over to ask if everything was okay with our food and could notice i was struggling to get my little boy to get in I have to say honestly iv not had this before in restraunts but the lovely lady took her time to speak to my little boy and helped me get him in his chair and even got him eating his food so that i could still eat my lunch whilst it was hotShe then kept coming over and checking on us and interacting with himI just want to say thank you as it was real lovely gesture and made me feel at ease as i was worried we was disturbing other diners eating Im not sure what her name was or if she was some form of management but i just wanted to say what a credit to the business she is . I will be defiantly recommending to by baby group mums Thanks againE x

We came to french Martini for our friend’s birthday And this did not disappoint Paige was our waitress and tbh she really made the evening From the moment we sat down she was on point and highly professional The food was amazing and anything we asked Paige for she done with a smile on her face. Even after we ate we stayed on for the evening Dj and Paige continued to serve us and we would all just like to praise paige on her amazing service as she even remembered what every single one of our drinks orders and what we had been drinking She kept the drinks flowing and we all had a great nightThis was just amazing restraunt and i highly recommend to anyone

My friend and I took French Martini up on their 2-4-1 steak evening and was not disappointed.The service was attentive and delivered with professionalism, our waitres was called Maisie and was incredibly well mannered and offered sterling service! Her recommendation on the dessert was on point and did not fail to disappoint, the raspberry and white chocolate cheese cake was divine.On the main event the steak was cooked to perfection the sides were fresh and hot and well seasoned.Thoroughly recommend and will be there again soon!

My first time in Billericay, I had a meal here last night with a friend and and I was very impressed. The Seafood Sharing platter was excellent and a lovely atmosphere. Shelly is the hostess with the mostest!! An absolutely amazing lady!!

I came here as part of a hen do for Brunch and can honestly say we had the best time. From the moment we arrived the service was brilliant Paige was fantastic and very professional. she was always ensuring that we were topped up with drinks and having a good time. she was even our own in house photographer Nothing was to much for Paige and the other members of staff were really friendly. The brunch was amazing and really quality food. I would definitely recommend and will be returning for the bottomless brunches paige recommended us to come too. Thank you again it was lovely to be out and be treated so well

Had a fabulous lunch today of Monkfish. Absolutely delicious and the attention to detail and taste was amazing. Would certainly visit again and recommend it.

I have scoured Billericay in search of a good English breakfast for sometime now. Some establishments have come close but usually something lets them down (come on, it’s not difficult to source a decent sausage and it makes all the difference). I’m pleased to say that my search is over. The Full English at French Martini was great, both generous and tasty. The avocado on toast received top marks from my partner too. Will be a frequent visitor from now on

Nice and cosy place. The live performance of the evening was the best part for me. Bar staff and waiters were friendly and attentive to everyone. I had a really good time and can only recommend it.

What an amazing brunch, with great service. I would go as far as saying the best I have had, there was a group of 6 and the service was great. Everything was fresh and hot, Avocado stack, Full breakfast, pancakes and the healthy options was enjoyed by all.

Another great evening here, great service and drinks, friendly and inviting venue with a great host. Highly recommend. Shelley the manager is fantastic and nothing seems to much effort for her. Will definitely return again.

I've eaten here on many occasions and the food is always to a great standard and the staff are fantastic. I have to say a huge special thank you to the management team for supporting a local charity event with a £25.00 gift voucher recently as well. Thank you French Martini and I can't wait to go back!

We visited here a couple of weeks ago and went back for our second Sunday brunch today. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The food is great and nothing is too much trouble. It’s a great setting too and perfect for the gram with the live wall inside. Pricing is spot on and good value for money. Highly recommend the Avo Stack or the Chilli Avocado

I visited this place during afternoon time, although there was many staffs around, the service was so slow and reluctant. The staff were just chatting each other or tables instead serving and caring for customers. I had Malbec but I think it was from a open bottle that is why the taste was so bad and off. I would not visit again unfortunately

Very bad customer service when me and my partner came here for breakfast. When we arrive we was told to ‘find yourself a table’ So we went and got a table and ordered some drinks and our food. My partner ordered the full English, and asked for chips instead of beans and tomato. And I ordered the chilli avocado.. Food arrived, which I cannot fault the actual food itself as it was really nice. The chips never arrived. I asked one of the waitresses and her reply was ‘oh yeah’ . We finished our food and another waitress come over to ask if we had got our chips yet (which we hadn’t) so I said no and not to bother as we had finished our food. There still hasn’t been no apology!I looked over 5 mins later, and all the staff were sitting round the bar eating the chips that obviously were meant for us. We’re sitting there with empty plates while they are all chatting and eating chips. I asked someone to clear our plates and get the bill.There was still no apology or remorse. I completely understand things do happen and things are sometimes missed but there’s no excuse for rudeness and bluntness.. As I have said, there was no fault with the food taste wise.. just really bad customer service..Really disappointed.

Great bar , professionally operated, friendly accommodating staff …. Good food … top draw.

We had the most amazing night here, the atmosphere was gorgeous, the staff were amazing, very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful venue, great music and all COVID rules were adhered to. Looking forward to coming back ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤

Very friendly and welcoming staff, gorgeous set up, delicious food and lovely cocktails. We all had a lovely afternoon here and will be returning without a doubt.
