A party of 9, service was brilliant , everything explained throughout service, not hurried and the food was excellent

Been on the list of places to visit for a while, finally got the chance to go over the Easter weekend! The first thing that stood out was the decor, really nice vibe with bright bold colours and great artwork. I wanted to try the entire menu but here’s what we had: Totopos to start with guacamole and pico de gallo. The tortilla chips were great! Gambas - Grilled Tiger Prawns with Achiote, Citrus, Honey, Chilli. These were amazing, our fav thing we tried. The prawns were huge and super tasty. Al Pastor Tacos - these aren’t traditional al pastor which is cooked on a rotating spit but more pulled pork style. Still great flavours and anything with pineapple on always tastes great. Arroz Con Pollo Bowl - these bowls have lots of goodies in. The grilled chicken had crispy skin and I enjoyed the picked cabbage. I personally wouldn’t get one of these again, I’m glad we had ordered a couple of the salsas to give it some extra flavours. Can’t forget the margaritas too. We had the Picante and it was sour and spicy just the way we like it. 🌶️

It was fairly empty the Wednesday afternoon my wife and I went but we felt relaxed and the service and food was great. Very friendly lady serving us.

Have been here twice now, food was lovely. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I had the prawns and they were special. Will definitely be back again.

One of the best restaurants in Leigh! I love visiting here, always great food, some plates are a bit expensive for the portion size but others are more than their value for money. Great wines too!

Great food, Mexican food done well, no props around the restaurant, burritos or cheesy music, Service was as good as the food.

After a few recommendations, I went and tried the set menu and it was just as good as we heard! Food was amazing, the prawns were the best I’ve had! Great service and will definitely be going back!

Fantastic restaurant in Leigh offering some of the best tasting and well presented Mexican inspired cuisine you will find for miles around. The staff are always welcoming and accommodating. Food is perfect every time. The cocktails and specifically the tequilas on offer are incredible. Me and the wife have visited a few times, and we are never disappointed. Always looking forward to our next visit!

Food very good but on the expensive side…good atmosphere…helpful staff..if you want to walk out feeling full up you will need to spend money ..

Amazing fresh cocktails! The food is always good and never disappointed. Particularly enjoy the new set menu for only 23pound on Wednesday’s and the two for one cocktails on Thursday are a great cheap night out. Also found good vegan/vegetarian options for my mum.

We had a fantastic meal at Frank's, we ordered the set menu for 2 of our party and 2 separate mains. Lots of really delicious food that we shared. Great customer service when one of our meals took a while to cook after the rest had been served they gave us complimentary chips. Really well prepared tasy food and great drinks options. Loved that they had a few alcohol free options too. Would highly recommend this place

Great tapas of chorizo, fish tacos, chips n dip, chicken skewer, calamari and the best chunky chips! Service couldn’t be faulted. Lovely eve.

One of the best quality places in the area. Brought a friend who had been touring europe and said he had his best meal to date here: gambas, catch of the day, baja avocado, pisco sour, trio de maiz. Special mention to the arroz con pollo bowl. The only suggested improvement is to make the pisco sour a bit stronger.

Great service, delicious dishes. Different from the originals but amazing fusion mexican food. And I love the Pisco Sour drink, the best I tried in UK.

Return visit as 1st visit was out of this world. Best Tapas I ever had, but the return visit on Tapas Tuesday was very limited and not the same quality as we 1st had. The crispy potato braves we 1st had, were a little soggy, the tortillas a little dry. One dish the chicken was very good. The meal was OK but Tapas Tuesday needs a bigger choice. We will go back but on a day they have their bigger menu. Hopefully it will be as good as our original visit.....please!

Cannot fault this place. As a pescatarian there was plenty of choice and dinner was sublime. I had halloumi & mango skewers, calamari, fish tacos and a chocolate crème brûlée. Genuinely some of the best food I’ve ever had. Such fresh, amazing flavours in every single dish. Really nice atmosphere and staff, too. Absolute gem.

Easily the best Mexican food I’ve had in the uk

Absolutely smashing. It's moved to my #1 spot in Leigh for a relaxed late afternoon dinner. Everyone was friendly, service was extremely quick ( any quicker and we'd suspect over prepped food, which absolutely was not the case ). The tacos were delightfully full, the aubergine was really flavoursome, but the star of the show was the lamb cutlets that arrived in a smoking banana leaf. Bonkers tasty.

Tasty small sharing plates which all taste fresh and well presented. Little bit echoy inside so were overwhelmed by nearby table of lively ladies. Waiting staff very friendly

someone say taco tuesday? it is at franks, but other than tacos and a few sides, that’s all they do… food choices were way too small, tacos or potato’s, nothing else, so maybe up the menu as well. the price? way too high, the food was good, but not worth it when adding all the pieces of the day together.

Love what's been done with the place. The ambience & comfort to sit & dine were spot on. Unfortunately though we found the food way too expensive for what you got. A beetroot salad at £15 consisted of Beetroot ( obviously) leaf, cucumber & sweetcorn which I could have made at home for a fraction of the price. None of us were wowed by any of the food & sadly for that reason we would not return

So excited about going. Menu sounded delightful. Firstly takes alot to get myself and my husband out of Rayleigh...but this was worth a visit. Arrived 15 minutes early. Our table which we were shown was not quite ready. So sat at the bar ordered our drinks then a lovely young lady proceeded to take us to our table. As we went to sit down 2 ladies sat in our seats which the bar manager showed them to. Awkward moment for our waitress who...bless her tried to sort out. I could go on and on and on here. But what is the point. They couldn't accommodate us in a suitable table. We were put in a position by the door and the reception desk with myself a view of a large vase of plastic flowers. So I am not on here to slag of Franks food...didn't get to try it. The waitresses were amazingly 👏 lovely and apologetic. But SHAME ON YOU BAR MANAGER.. couldn't even come over and say sorry. Needles to say ended up in home town of Rayleigh ...tried a little new Mediterranean restaurant which we will review later. All I can say is superb. So Franks basically go it looked lovely. But one stupid yellow bellied man let his whole team down. Well done 👏

I went here for lunch and the club sand was gorgeous with a lot of vegetable and well sautéed children! Patatas with spicy cheese sauce was also tasty!! I'd love to go for dinner as well !

Such a great find. Frank’s is deceptively spacious and airy. The food was plentiful and delicious. We chose the set menu - the portions arrived as they were freshly prepared and we couldn’t fault any of it. Service was great too. We really recommend Frank’s.

We visited franks in Leigh on sea last week and we had cocktails and food it’s was delicious and fabulous place to be staff was amazing we felt so special to be there. We definitely enjoyed the restaurant and we enjoyed everything we come for. Super happy with everything. We will be back . Thank you all at franks to make our night special and memorable!

Come here for the Taco Tuesday evening. Margaritas were brilliant! Also had a beer bucket and 3 tacos which tasted really good. Would definitely come here again.

Brilliant food and service. I would highly recommend Taco Tuesday, and the Steak Asada Taco. The Margaritas are also really good and really good price.

Unfortunately have to agree with some of the other reviews on here, came here with my friend for taco Tuesday expecting it to be good deals. Felt that the food was very overpriced, the service was not great and our food came out at different times and by the time my friend had finished their food mine then came out, we also did not receive all of what we ordered, the margaritas were nice though!

Had a great evening at Franks. The food is excellent and the restaurant is very clean, casual and relaxed. The servers could be a little more attentive.

Shocking service, and the cocktails tasted like dish water. I wouldn't normally leave a review but was quite disappointed by the experience. If you want regular customers please pay more attention to your customers and sort your cocktail makers out.

Really lovely restaurant. Excellent food, beautifully served & the portions are quite fine. There is a great choice of drinks - the wine list is very interesting & the cocktails are delightful. The venue looks better & better every month. And the ambience is always relaxed as the staff express really friendly, yet professional attitude.

Went in for lunch around 12 had to wait 40 minutes for food there was only 2 tables with customers food very poor also for the price in my opinion

Portions very expensive and small. Amazing taste! I guess this is what you pay for... service was slow. Food did not come out together but in stages. I wanted the selection of Food i chose to come out together. A bit disappointed by the whole set up. When i asked the waitress when the other food would be coming out, she replied it comes out in stages... overall, an okay place to eat out but not a place I will return to. Too pricey! I gave 2 stars because the plates were very tasty. Improvements: service, check backs on tables more often, maybe an option to order more drinks! Food to come together? Price changes? Too expensive! Or bigger portions!

Absolutely fantastic meal, we’ve eaten in a lot of Mexican places and they struggle to get to this range of flavour. Who would have thought corn would be the star dish? The server we had was also really friendly and attentive. We had a great night

Been to Franks 3 times now and there’s been a running theme, the service is truly shocking! The first few times they had recently opened so gave the benefit of the doubt, but one year after opening it’s still the exact same. It’s hard to describe just how bad it is really but I will try my best. Slow and inattentive is an understatement, takes forever to get your food ordered, drinks made and even plates cleared away. Today on the my last visit to franks It took one of the waitresses 40 minutes to notice we had finished our food and the plates needed clearing away. Finally she came over and I asked for the bill so we could leave. She cleared half the plates away and came back with the bill, I kid you not I waited another 20mins and she had not come back for the other plates or cash I left to pay the bill. We got up and left and I would wager the cash and plates are probably still on the table as I write this review. It’s a real shame as the decor, atmosphere and some of the dishes are really nice but ultimately service is a huge part of hospitality and franks is hands down the worst I’ve ever experienced!

Such a nice evening, really relaxed setting clean and casual. Pros : Brilliant food Knowledgeable staff Lovely cocktails Nice atmosphere Cons : Maybe a touch expensive if you're quite hungry, but I didn't mind paying. Smoked negroni gave a nice aroma but aftertaste reminded me of smoking 🚬 (that could just be my preference though.) All in all a fantastic experience, will definitely be going back.

Probably the worst service I've ever experienced. After our food was pretty much chucked at us we were ignored for the rest of the evening. Couldn't get drinks, didn't ask how food was, couldn't get the bill and then even when we did ask for drinks and bill it was 20-30 min wait for both those things. We had to complain twice and STILL we were ignored. Staff need retraining, no one was taking care of their actual sections, other tables were full to the brim of glasses and empty plates, the place absolute chaos. 6 waitresses passed us over 3 times each and not ONE made eye contact to see if we were okay while all three of us tried multiple times to get their attention. All three in our party worked in hospitality for 10 years and I don't think I've ever seen that many staff doing such a bad job. They knocked 20% off our bil which we had to wait 20 mins to pay, even after complaining, but they were very lucky we paid anything at all. Where was the owner on a busy Saturday night in his first year of business??? Certainly not over seeing his restaurant. Food was average and REALLY over priced.

Slow, inept, bland food. Ignored through dinner . Impossible to get service. Really, really poor service and massively over priced for mediocre food.

Interesting quasi Mexican style restaurant. Nice variety of dishes that are also ideal as sharing platters. Friendly staff and pleasant open interior.

My friend had this really horrible 'taco' - see the grey sludgy thing in the photos. Tasted as bad as it looked. We sent it back but they gave us another just the same. I've travelled a lot in Mexico and never ever seen something like this. I had the rice bowl. It was a bowl of rice with 4 or 5 ingredients thrown in - no sauce, nothing to bring the thing together, and almost cold when served. Not sure if there's been a change of chef, given the other positive reviews on this site. My experience was awful.

Great food slightly over priced

Lovely Mexican restaurant! They use the soft corn tacos which are the best! A little pricey, but it's what you have to pay to get good quality Mexican food!

6 of us had dinner, seated promptly, we were advised well on the menu as it was our first visit, food and drinks were exceptional, service great and the atmosphere was buzzing, throughly enjoyed it and will be visiting again.

Excellent food, slightly surprised the bar shut at 9 but it was a Wednesday!

I’ve been to Franks on 2 occasions. Both times the food and drinks have been really nice. The cocktails are divine! The only downside was that service was a bit too prompt: because you order tapas style food, you don’t necessarily want it all turning up at the same time as it then gets cold. On the last occasion, we ordered cocktails as an aperitif, with wine for the meal but it quite literally all turned up together so that some of our food was pretty cold by the time we got round to the last dishes. It didn’t take away from the taste of the dishes but because they are small, they do become cold quite quickly. The waitresses are all quite young so I’m not sure if it’s inexperience on their part or on the chefs but either way, I will definitely return but maybe order in a more informed way!

Food was really good and staff were friendly but the kitchen closed at 9pm which seemed quite early. We would have ordered more food had it not been for that. Maybe book an early table or load up straight away when you get in there.

Poor service, waited for food for it not to arrive. Then asked and again forgot one dish. There seemed lots of friends in from the waiting staff who had their attention rather than other customers. Shame as food was good when finally arrived.

Went for lunch on Sunday with my wife. Must admit I was highly impressed with the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious. The soft tacos were amazing as was the grilled chicken (Pollo). The flavours of the various dishes were lovely and complimented the various dishes. Was particularly impressed as it was their first weekend. There were a few items off the menu as they had run out (had their official opening night the night before). But that was OK. Lovely ambience and great decor and good service as well. Looking forward to going back soon!
