Frankie fish and chips in East Hampshire

A great local fish and chip shop, good range of price, fast, friendly service and an essential service to our village. Eating in or take out you won’t be disappointed.

In the area visiting family and we needed lunch. We decided on take out from Frankie’s Fish & Chips. 3 haddocks, a couple of chips, mushy peas and curry sauce later we had a reasonable lunch. Not bad, but we have had better. The interior of the shop is nice, though.

Our first visit to Frankie for our yearly fish & chips. More than happy with the quality, freshness & juiciness of the cod – cooked to order & really well done. I felt that chips were more average but my wife really liked them. Will definitely be returning.

Everything is cooked freshly to order and they are amazingly careful with my daughter's order. She has a serious allergy and they are always so careful with our order I can not recommend them highly enough.

The quality of the food has greatly improved. Cooked fresh. I wonder if there has been a staff change since last year.

After a beautiful family walk we decided to visit the local village Grayshott. We heard that there was a fish and chips restaurant that that was amazing when we decided to give a try. Wowwww The fish was so succulent and crispy and so were the chips....We were amazed with the service and the food. We have tried most of the famous fish and chips in London but this is by far the best one. Frankie fish and chips we are your fans! What a stunning place to visit and eat we recommend to all our friends and family.

Just thought I’d say how amazing these fish and chips are! We ordered over the phone to collect at half an hour later and we got there and it was all ready. Just tapped my contactless card on the machine and walked out as a happy customer. We had some delicious chips, white bait and haddock. Would recommend these guys to anyone! With everything that’s going on at the moment with the Covid 19 virus I would like to help and support our local businesses. They were great, helping the community.They delivered people’s fish and chips to the boot of there cars and also gave people there fish and chips though the back door. I even witnessed someone doing a contactless payment though a window to stop the contact and kept there social distance. It brought a smile to my face knowing that people can still get there yummy fish and chips whilst being safe.

During the covid lockdown decided not to cook and to support a local takeaway and decided on Frankies. Called them with order and picked it up from the car at their back door - very easy and safe. Very much enjoyed the delicious fish and chips.

My husband and I have had take away fish and chips from here since moving to the area a few years ago. Generally speaking the fish and chips are pretty darn good but unfortunately it can be hit and miss at times. Their portions are fair but feel the chip portions have been shrinking recently. The sausage in batter is nice but really lacks the batter aspect.Overall I will continue to have fish and chips here, but it would be nice to see the consistency improve back to where it used to be.

I have given really good reviews on Frankie's in the past but it appears to be on a downward slide. The Haddock and chips I had last Thursday was quite poor. The piece of Haddock was tiny compared to what it used to be and was mostly batter and the portion of chips seem to be shrinking in size as well, which is a shame as I have always rated Frankie's high. Maybe I just hit it on a bad day but considering I travel 35 miles to meet with a friend once a month there we may be considering our options in the future.As usual though, the staff are very pleasant and welcoming.

Usually good fish and chips.This last visit not so good.Chips lukewarm , fish batter dark brown and over cooked.Fish dry and old tasting. Shame on your usual good standards

Haddock and Chips was our order. The haddock consisted of two tail pieces cooked, I guess, in stale oil. The smell was 'off' for both pieces and the taste was none too good either. The Chips were very hot but quite soggy.The shop itself was untidyWe will not be returning

Frankie's isn't the closest chippy to me, but it's the one I always go to. Small cod n chips with mushy peas for me! It's always been beautiful.

My Mum lives close by in Hindhead. Hindhead has a fish n chip shop, but I always drive the extra 2 miles to Grayshott and Frankie's. The fish are always tasty and fresh with excellent batter.Chips can be a bit hit and miss.Also it ain't cheap, but hey, this is Surrey (or just into Hampshire) and with the fish, you know it will always be good.

Some of the best fish & chips we have ever had. We have been three times and the quality is always good. The staff are great. If you sit in the decor is simple and has the traditional fish & chip shop feel. They make a great cup of tea as well.

As to the previous review it sounds nothing like the Frankies I visited on Friday. This place is top class for fish and chips of which you won't get better, certainly around this or any area locally.

The whole place looks like it needs a good clean. Dirty furniture. Smells of cooking oil so very unpleasant. Chips dry and hard.

Friendly, straightforward, good value, they really look after their customers old and young. Have never had a bad experience. Best fish and chips in the area. Had lunch there today and we all really enjoyed the food and the service. The low-cost corkage (with an off-licence opposite) is a nice bonus.

Excellent fat free cooking with an eating area where a bottle of wine (corkage £2) should be considered. Very popular locally

This is by far the best fish and chip place this side of Padstow. It's served fresh and owners really have a passion for getting the food right. It's all cooked fresh and even on the busiest of days standards are maintained. Do not be put of by the furniture. It's all substance above par

Nice fish & chips, good portion sizes, always seems busy which is a good indicator too! Decent selection but could do with a cheese and potato pasty on there! The mushy peas are really good too. There are a few tables so you can eat in, you can even take your own wine or beer for a small corkage fee!

This is the best fish and chip shop in the area. I've used it for takeaway bug they do have a few tables in situ. What else can I say? It's very good.

Really great fish and chips. I had the Haddock and it was perfect. Chips were really good. They were very busy but didn't have to wait long. Very friendly staff to. Brilliant.

We wanted a takeaway for about 20 people. Frankie's sent through their menu in advance to us. We then messaged them the order ( lots of fiddly odd bits) . All sorted exactly as we asked. All done with a smile . Its a good 15 minutes from Grayshott to where we live , but they packaged up the food really well so it didn't get cold- all marked up too so we knew exactly what was in which package. And then the food - excellent fish and chips ( and the rice flour batter, the burgers, mushy peas , curry sauce!). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Frankie's . Very reasonable price too.

Just perfect traditional fish and chips. Crisp batter and perfect chips. You really only need one portion of chips for two people. Beware of queues on Fridays and Saturdays. It does get really busy.

Visited Frankie’s fish and chips tonight. I had arranged to collect some keys from my son tonight so we met half way at Hindhead. Decided to try out Frankie’s and we were so glad we did. It is a little shabby looking but homely and clean. Service was great and very attentive. As a coeliac I am usually pretty limited to what I can have especially in a fish and chip shop, however they cooked me the most delicious grilled fish. The chef checked out my needs before cooking it. It is a busy little chip shop with lots of people coming in for takeaways but there were also several people eating in. I would not hesitate to use again , the only problem is the 50 mile round trip

stayed at my paradise at rostock ritz where the stay was the best in my life. the food was great but was surpassed by the sleeping quaters and the service.

Hemos estado aquí dos veces y me encanta el lugar. El pescado hamburguesa es maravilloso. . . . . . Yo sueño. Nos vendrá de Chichester para cenar. El servicio es excepcional y es genial poder llevar su propio vino. Un fabuloso hallazgo!

Frankie's is one of those fish and chip shops that you are likely to return to again and again. The quality of the fish and chips is excellent and as well as chicken and sausages they also offer grilled fish and salads if you choose to dine in. There is a wine shop opposite and you can bring your own tipple to the meal .The service in Frankie's is always friendly and fast and there is usually a lovely atmosphere in there too, especially on Friday nights.

Went 1st time for me on Thursday night (9th Feb) with 3 other guys.Blown away by service, charm & pleasantries of waitress & staff. This was followed by the best fish, chips & roe I've ever had; honest!Better than at Littlehampton which I thought was good but this place is closer, more pleasant with a relaxing atmosphere and a damn good selection of fish!Probably go again soon but will definitely be going again.Love the option for fish to be grilled too!Highly recommend & 5*

Well have to say it was very good indeed. Great portions all prepared with care and attention to detail. Toilets were spotless (always a good way to judge the standard of a restaurant). Loved the guy and his crew that run the place all great guys with sense of humour. Lastly there is a decent off licence across the road open till 9pm, you can buy your beer and wine and drink in the restaurant which was a nice touch. These guys deserve to do well as everything is done properly.

Frankie's is consistently good. The service is cheerful and the fish freshly cooked to order. If you do not eat in the café, there are comfortable chairs and newspapers to browse while you wait for your order.

I visited today with my daughter and mother. The restaurant was very clean and bright with comfy chairs. The large couch was also a good idea if you didn't want to sit at the table. The service was spot on, 10 / 10. Friendly and helpful and efficient. The food was served hot and tasted delicious. Very good portion sizes. There were reading books and colouring books with pens for the kids which is a great idea. We would definitely recommend and revisit again. Thank you for a delightful lunch!

Absolutely amazing fish and chips. This place was recommended and it will be the first of many more visits. The food was served promptly, piping hot. I ordered haddock, which was the best I've had and my partner had sausage, chips and beans, which was very good too. The staff couldn't be more welcoming, and made us feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble.

Whenever i want a take away i always pop into frankies. It's the best fish and chip shop in town ( and trust me i'm really fussy) . The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is delicious, what more can you want? Its true that when its busy, you may have to wait a while, but that is because they get lots of orders in the same time and cooked from fresh. The waiting is worth while. If you are not satisfied, give it another chance!

Very surprised at the below comments. I've been a regular customer since the shop opened. We are only human after all and mistakes can happen. The staff are very approachable don't let one bad meal put you off, especially as it was just a sausage you should go back again try something else, the fish, and the cod fillet burgers are to die for. The chips are always great in my opinion as I have always been more than satisfied with their food and service.

Have to agree with review below! it's the first and the last time I've been there! I had to wait ages for a sausage and chips to cook the chef was so busy standing around talking nonsense to the other staff who quite frankly had no interest in his frivolous stories!!! When I got home it was swimming in grease! I cut the sausage open I needed kitchen roll to get all the grease out it was coming out like water!!! I'm very happy I went there though because I'm so much more inclined to start my diet tomorrow!!

We have been eating at Frankie for years and in our opinion it is the best fish and chips in the area but on our last visit we noticed that our large fish and chips was much smaller! Plenty of chips but a much smaller piece of fish, my daughter also noticed this as they got take away the same evening and commented on the portion size! It's a shame as we loved it before it was taken over.

We have enjoyed take away fish and chips and dined in at Frankie's. The fish and chips are consistently delicious. Service is prompt and friendly and you always feel welcome.

Once we discovered this place we couldn't find any other chip shop that could match their perfect chips. That was else until it opened another site in Bordon. Luckily the same standard was provided at a much closer location. We are now regular visitors.

Our walking group did a walk followed by fish and chips here. It was a bit of a crush but we managed to get over 20 people seated in the restaurant area. The staff were very good, though there were a few mix ups. Good fish and chips, served fresh. It is also possible to bring your own bottle.

Rave reviews sent me here but I wasn't blown away by the food. The staff were lovely and efficient but the fish and chips were really average and served in those horrid styrofoam clamshells.

Get take away here approx. once per month. Always excellent. Great portion sizes, they never skimp on the chips either - in fact, small is usually more than ample. Great quality fish and proper British batter too. Nice and crispy. Highly recommended.

I have eaten at this gem of a fish and chip shop many times over the last few years when visiting my mum from Australia. Not only is the food always been excellent but thstaff are just delightful - down to earth menu, delicious fish and the nicest staff that look after my mum and sister whenever they visit. My favourite is the cod - yum

We have used this restaurant on a number of occasions food always good and tasty, however this is the third time they have messed up the most basic of orders. How difficult is it when the shop is not busy to order 2 fish, 2 chips, 1 sausage and 1 mushy peas...........answer - sausage and mushy peas forgotten only realised when we got home and unpacked. Phoned to let them know only to be told that they were really busy and they couldn't hear us on the phone.......need to do better Frankies, perhaps the new chippy around the corner might be more on the ball.

Never received such awful service in my life. The food was terrible and I didn't care much for the manager who seemed to bark at his staff constantly very loudly. I would not recommend to anyone I know and definitely won't be going again

Nice place, lovely staff and faultless food in a friendly, family atmosphere. Chips were excellent without any excess oil. Great fish battered, again, without excess oil. They also offer the option of grilled fish for a small, extra charge.

They say they are the best fish and chips you ever had on there hordings not sure about that certainly I have had better that being said they are very good I did try the other local chippy at hindhead parade but they were not as good in my opinion so let's say they are properly the best in local area I like the fact you can seat down and eat inside if you wish plus they do OAP discount so all in all a good local chippy who serve quality fish and chips and you do get a good portion of chips so full marks there

Visited today. Great fish and chips. Don't expect it delivered to your table in 5 seconds as it is all cooked to order which means it is fresh and hot. Really pleasant staff. Although on Trip Advisor is says it is open from 4.30pm it IS OPEN at lunch times. Recommended

Regularly have take aways and have had a couple of sit down meals here. Always fantastic fish and chips without those little crunchy bits and fish cooked in a light batter. Great menu including the usual plus whitebait, calamari and an option of grilled fish instead of batter. Tidy sit down area, not a posh restaurant it is a Chippy. Friendly staff and very tasty food cooked to order. Cannot fault as a fish and chip shop

This is the best fish and chips in UK, I am solucky its 5 mins away. The fish is cooked to order, thechips are always fresh, thebatter is light crunchy and delicious.

Great food!!! We went with a large group with various food preferences. The staff was friendly and did a great job feeding 20+ ruggers. I was told my my cohorts the fish and chips were incredible. I had a delicious meat pie and chips. We had a vegetarian traveling with us and the staff went out of their way to find her options. Although it sounds a little weird they made a mushed pea fritter that was delicious! The burgers looked a little anemic but average for England.

I love this fish and chip shop! Having lived near Grayshott for nearly 3 years i have become a regular at this chip shop. Though never actually dined in, i should make the effort to do so one day.The fish is always cooked to order and never disappoints. My partner doesn't like fish so always orders a burger and chips instead and he says that is always delicious, that is also cooked to order fresh. The extensive menu has the traditional varieties available all at a very reasonable price. It is a rare gem that offer's something quite special, whilst they realise they do this they don't try to rip you off in the process by charging a near bankrupt price. Definitely recommend to everyone!

The best fish and chips ever, anywhere! You will never taste better f & c than Frankies. It spoils you for anywhere else. Be prepared to queue a bit in the evening, but it is SO worth it. Fab!
