Franco's in Neath Port Talbot

Met a friend for coffee, we were seated and attended to straight away, I had beautiful prepared flat white paired with a homemade carrot cake with my choice of ice cream, my friend had an equal prepared latte, with gluten free apple pie with cream, delicious 😃

Had fish,chips,mushy peas,latte, and for dessert was fruit crumble the fish&chips were fab Latte lovely but the fruit crumble you could not eat because it highly spicy with cinnamon couldn't taste it and it was apple it would have been better if it was berries ice cream was nice to me fruit crumble is not apple crumble

Ordered meal at 4.20pm, finally arrived a 6.25pm, If they have not got delivery drivers available, don't advertise delivery. Unable to cancel the order as no refund would be given, as they had started to prep the order but tracking shows they had not

Excellent service and food. Lovely vegan breakfast. Accommodated us with five minutes to spare for breakfast orders.

Love Franco's! We tend to pop in with the dog and love that they have a dog menu and blankets. It's a fantastic dog-friendly place. They have plenty of options on the menu and the food is great. The staff are wonderful and can't do enough for you. It's a great place to visit when you're walking on Aberavon Beach, great year-round. One of our local favourites. The dog always enjoys visiting too.

We went to Franco's for a hot drink after a walk along the beach. We waited at the 'Please wait here to be seated' sign... Several staff members saw us, nobody said anything or even acknowledged our presence. We noticed two parties from two different tables stood up to try to pay. They were also noticed and after a couple of minutes of them standing a staff member walked over to them, with so little enthusiasm I was surprised he was able stand upright, and attempted to help them settle. The significant lack of engagement in customers, arriving or leaving left me feeling like they did want or deserve my custom, so we left without getting to see if they were any good. They have two stars from me because the place looked okay and while we waited I did see some people eating, so the food must have been edible. But I can't comment beyond that. Pity as I was hungry and might have persuaded my partner to stay for food after our hot drinks.

Excellent customer service, food nicely cooked, large brown toast, wouldn't go back as only 1 bacon rasher, very expensive. Sounds like your on diesel ship, big droning noise in the background.

Had a lovely Fish, Chips and mushy peas. Children’s meals come in a little beach bucket which is something I’ve never seen before. Big portions, worth a visit.

Very expensive for a hot chocolate and cup of tea! Bonus is they are dog friendly and a couple members of staff make you feel welcome. Not the quickest of services even when quiet.

We had breaded plaice and chips. The servings were very generous. The fish was lovely and crispy and the chips were dry and tasty. The service was excellent with very pleasant staff.

Normally been ok but Saturday was just awful overcooked fish and chips and pasty and chips kids meals were bit better waited quite a while for the fish don't mind waiting but it was all overcooked batter hardly any fish! Very disappointed

The staff here are always polite and friendly. Food arrives promptly and is very nice. Have been here twice recently, of an evening with family, and have not disappointed.

New review- Sept 2024 Was ok, food was cold, overpriced and substandard. Service was ok. Toilets dirty and opened out onto the kitchen! New review- feb 2022. Arrived at 11.40qm to be told they weren't serving lunch at 12pm as usual and there would be a wait. Finally ordered at 12.20pm. Food arrived at 12.45pm. Considering they had only just started cooking the peas were cold and the chips certainly weren't hot! No difference between the large cod and chips and the small cod and chips. Member of staff was stroking dogs and letting them lock her hands; then didn't wash her hands!!! I flagged with a member of staff who then did speak to that staff member, but it made me feel very uncomfortable given that in my opinion hand washing, especially in covid times should be a VERY high priority. Overall, we keep giving Francos a chance but it remains overpriced, poor service and substantial food. ......................................................... Really expensive and poor quality. The chips were rubbish, the sausages I think had been in the heater for hours. Nearly £8 for 1 bag of (small) chips, 2 sausages and a diet coke...just so expensive. Its disappointing because their clearly using their position, as their the only chip shop on the seafront to take advantage. Kids chips and sausage in a bucket, with a carton of cheap juice, £3.60!! Literally a scabby little sausage and maybe 15 chips (tiny tiny portion)....but comes in a bucket with a spade so of course kids want it. Again, feel like their just ripping people off. We won't visit again. I'd rather call somewhere else on the way home and get proper quality food for better value for money.

Plaice was very hot and a little overcooked. Chips were quite bitty but the portion size was fair

I asked specifically in the notes no salt and vinegar on any food and l had both salt and vinegar smothered over my food

I had an awful experience here 18 years ago, I refused to go for years however my son dragged me more recently and the staff were really welcoming and we really enjoyed our food and kindness shown to our dog.

Staff are always friendly. I sat outside and watched the sea. The sausage and mash was a bit disappointing, it could have done with a couple of vegetables as it was mostly mash and gravy.

We had a family day trip to Aberavon today and had already decided on having lunch at Franco's, for anyone who's never been you have to try it. The cod & chips were amazing, chips cooked perfectly, & the fish was delicious with a crispy batter 😍😍 curry sauce was incredible and my boys said their battered sausages tasted great The service was excellent, very friendly staff, great value for money and will definitely be coming back again when we visit Aberavon....Hopefully we get better weather next time 🤞🏽

We stayed in Neath Port Talbot for 3 nights and ate at Franco's twice. First off we had takeaway Fish and Chips - a busy summer evening and we weren't waiting long. Batter was super crispy, chips were great, fish was fresh. And the ketchup was free! Ice cream from their kiosk rounded it off with good selection of flavours - I loved the Turkish Delight. Later we stopped in for cake and coffee (surprisingly good coffee). Huge teacakes. Lovely friendly, attentive service with the best South Wales hospitality.

We just got a take away to eat on the sea front but it was reasonably priced and there was lots of choice for vegan and vegetarians.

Great seaside chips. Poor quality seating. Many benches broken. Quick service, even though it was extremely busy. Great staff, great view.

Been waiting 1hr still no food has arrived also brought me the wrong drink slowest service I've ever had

A really excellent place. Extremely dog friendly...place down the road only allowed dogs until 5p.m and only arrived at 4.30pm ...here blankets provided/ made fuss of whilst also given space. Friendly team, sea views, good range of food. We had three different dishes so maybe food took a little longer but was fresh and hot. Scampi/ Battered Halloumi, Curry (with half n half) all enjoyed. Pudding looked great but had our fill! Was happy to leave a tip...loved there options of tip amounts "Tidy' "Lush" and "Bangin'" It isn't fine dining but it did the trick...update...we we back the next evening as well. Still great!

Absolutely rude terrible customer service/ blonde waitress staff member on entrance podium. Came in today 02/08/2024 about 4:15ish very heavily pregnant to use the bathroom let the blonde waitress know and to my surprise I walk out to her mimicking me, had her back to me but I heard everything and her colleague spotted me and both went quiet. Very childish behaviour and rude. Not a nice atmosphere. Won’t be recommending.

Place looks great and waiting staff are fantastic. Food looks great but fish was soggy and swimming in heavy fat inside the batter. Also very expensive for just chips didn't realise there was a potato shortage.

Looked forward to some takeaway chips this evening .I waited 20 minutes for a cheese risible and chips which cost me six pounds.ive never been served such awful food .the rissole was like a rock and I can't find words for the chips absolutely dreadful.there were at least five staff behind the counter and no other customers .To add to it just glancing behind the counter I was taken back at how shabby and grubby it was .so disappointed used to be such a good place.Never again

Came on a weekday wasn't even busy. Queed for 10 mins because no one was taking orders and was told there was a 30-45 minute wait for 2 sausages when the food heater was full of food.

Was rather disappointed the battered sausage was over cooked the chips were over cooked with the dredges of the batter thrown in also! The food was not hot when it turned up! This is the worst meal I’ve had from Franco’s very disappointed indeed!

Greeted at the door by rude staff we asked for a table and it was obvious we had a pushchair and didn't want to accommodate us because of that , table for 5 and a baby walked out went to the front instead, , shame because it wasn't busy at all , maybe aberavon sea front needs another chippy would be nice to have some choice!!!!

Wrong order and Francos WOULD NOT HELP AT ALL!!!! Putting in a complaint about a lady there, who told me to go get my food from the other customer myself!!! She gave me the other customers number!! Uh uh bad move!! Both customers now are complaining about this lady as her attitude stunk and she gave out personal information about someone else! When I find out her name I will be shamming her! How hard is it to sort out a wrong order!? And why can’t they get hold of the just eat drivers??

Worst fish and chips I have ever had, and over 20 quid for 2 so-called 'large' cod with 1 chips, that was so over cooked it felt like it was 2 days old, chips ok but cold. TBH it couldn't get much worse.

Ordered a childs chips for my dad, he's 86, with dementia he has a very small appetite, a bucket of chips arrived when I queriy this I was told we don't do child's chips and the waitress walk off !!!!! Very disappointing

I ordered a chicken burger and small fries, got regural fries but it was way too big, and looked like left over fries from yesterday. Not even in a container, just in paper. The burger wasn't any better. The bread was cold, the bottom "half" was falling apart, because it was that thin. It was a big burger, but half the size with some more veggies would be a huge improvement. Couple slices of tomato, gherkins not just some lettuce.

I had a chip butty one fine day last week and a can of pop. It was more expensive than my chippy but... it was lush, just what I needed for my treat day, could I finish it all, no as it was massive.. but really nice.

Took 30 minutes to get 2 plates of food (only sides and one main).the plate was DRENCHED in oil and there was tons of batter on the mozzarella bites.more cheese than the chips for the cheese and chips.pee's were also cold.dont come here.

We bought take out chips.... they were nicer than ones we have had before but due to them being so busy, the chips were undercooked and had no salt.

Last time I visit here, left waiting 20 mins with no staff to have the courtesy to take our order - when it wasn’t even busy. However they truly took the biscuit serving the table next to us who arrived 15 mins later! Worst part is staff saw us leaving and didn’t even have the decency to apologise. Can’t wait for the day someone is able to provide reasonably priced chips with some decent service

Had a takeaway sausage, chips and curry sauce. Was really good but a little to expensive. Almost £6 for 1 person. There was a mess on the floor behind the counter too.

Lovely food. Very warm welcome. Dog friendly with doggy treats/food available. Queues at lunchtime and gets noisy because it’s popular and central.

We were recommended this dog friendly restaurant by friends and we weren’t disappointed. We have two Labradors, one is disabled and in a dog pushchair, therefore we were a little apprehensive about access. However, the staff couldn’t have been kinder or more accommodating to both our needs as well as our dogs. We ordered the Franco breakfast and would highly recommend the food. Beautifully cooked and well presented and very reasonable priced. We will certainly be visiting Franco’s again.

Superb food, lovely restaurant and the staff were fab what more could you ask for. Our first ever visit but definitely not our last. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant well laid out, well organised and lovely and clean. Would highly recommend.

Lovely little cage on Aberavon seafront, great cakes and coffee selection and chip shop to boot! Staff very friendly, also a dog friendly cafe which is great after a stroll along the beach.

What a delightful little restaurant. The food was much better than expected (though it wasn't cheap) it offered a lovely dining experience right on the sea front in a spacious yet cosy room with bright and cheerful decor. The staff were all really nice and they even gave us a blanket so our small dog could sit up on the bench of our booth with us.
