Outside and in a bit shabby but food great. Seemed to be the only eatery open in Bishop Auckland on a Sunday evening.

As an unbiased and balanced reviewer, I would highly recommend the pizza & pasta options and strongly suggest you avoid the steak and (oven) chips. (You’ve been warned!) I won’t be too judgmental as the waitress was obviously trying her best, but clearly inexperienced as it wasn’t until we left that we found out about a ‘famous’ 3 course specials menu. Nice setting, and once they’d figured out how to make the CD player work, a nice atmosphere but unfortunately not hitting the standards of any of the other Italian restaurant past and present in and around the town. At nearly £100 for 2 adults and 2 kids (plus a teen eating a starter for a main) the price is definitely on the steep side considering the quality. I wouldn’t return or recommend the restaurant (for reasons above) but would order & recommend the pizza or pasta as a takeaway.

Good food well cooked with friendly efficient service

My first time in Franco’s and it definitely won’t be my last. Lovely place for a nice meal at reasonable prices. Couldn’t fault the food or service at all. Thank you to Franco and lovely serving staff 🙂
