Fox & Hounds Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Waited over an hour for our food, hardly anybody there, so not busy, it was only burgers, chips etc, so not exactly difficult. Disappointed when it finally did arrive too.

This is a nice pub with good food and a great pint of Guinness and the staff are charming I would recommend it to anyone

Absolutely lovely meal & excellent service, only one dislike which made us uncomfortable was the dog being in the bar .

We joined a charity run in the memory of a paramedic called Del. This is where we met all the other riders.

Proper home cooking well worth a visit you won't be disappointed

Have been here many times over the years and the carvery was very good. How ever this year only once as we booked and on arrival was told they couldn’t find our booking. Then asked three of us to sit on a small table cramped in the corner. When I looked around and asked if we could be seated at a different table I found one with my name and time on a stand. The waitress seemed in a dither but agreed we could sit there. My fish pie was very lacking in fish, alot of potato and sauce and over priced. My friends scampi looked nice but my wife’s ham egg and chips was small and not good value for the cost. We paid and left rather unhappy with the experience. It’s a shame as we were in Cornwall for three weeks and would like to have gone back as we had in previous years. Perhaps training staff better and pricing may help in the future It’s a lovey setting inside but feel very let down this time.

We went in the middle of the day, midweek so a little hard to judge the atmosphere. However walking into the pub was immediately like you've entered an old cottage with all the charm and nostalgia associated. The landlady was very friendly and accommodating for us and the kids. The food was basic, but tasty, fairly priced and well sized portions. Plenty of parking too, which is handy given its location on a busy road.

A proper ‘ Pub ‘ a fine selection of ales , special offers , and non alcoholic wares . Now as to the food , prepared by Sara , the Chef - outstanding . Good old freshly cooked food - prepared to order - home cooked . Wide range to cater for all needs . Curry’s and sirloin steak , with all the trimmings , keenly priced , and a real treat , my favourites to date - but I am new !! Audrey is lovely behind the bar - very welcoming . Ample parking , a cosy pub . Go on - give it a whirl

Went for a roast. Well worth it. The place was warm and friendly with a great atmosphere. There's also a big garden to sit in should the weather be suitable. It's also on the mineral tramway so a serious distraction to completing the coast to coast! Call in!

Sam and Dean run a really lovely pub, and are very friendly and welcoming, as are their regulars! Had a delicious steak and chips and a few pints of very well looked after local beer. The pub is really full of community spirit too, from charity raffles to gigs, poker and karaoke. Well worth a visit, and I'll certainly be back!

Lovely looking pub.visited several times, the last time I will ever visit this pub was yesterday. When, as always I was being careful of drinking and driving so after drinking one pint of tribute ale I ordered a zero alcoholic bottled beer, 300ml I think, cant remember the name, was charged 4 pounds 10p should have asked first I, suppose, on top of that I was charged ten pounds 10p for a pint of Tribute and cheesy chips, last time they'll see me no wonder so many pubs closing, it's not all wether spoons fault.having said that, the staff are always faultless..

Super friendly staff and good prices. If you want a good classic pub this is the one to go to.

Friendly staff, good service and meals

We were two couples aiming to eat at a different pub but missed their dining hours. We were directed to this pub and we were not disappointed. It is a little off the beaten track but quite a find. Huge car park and quite a substantial pub with tables to the front and a beer garden to the rear. The staff were really friendly, helpful and efficient and showed us to our table. Plenty of choice for seating as it was mid-afternoon. The menu was varied enough and we had moules and frites, fish and chips and king prawns on a sizzling platter. All the the food was great except that the moules were slightly over cooked which is why 4 not 5-stars. I would not hesitate to return to this pub and it is worth noting that it serves food all day until 9pm.

Gorgeous place to stay. They let us camp the day we turned up and was very helpful. Would love to come back again in few weeks for a few more days. Lush location small and nice and quiet at night. Lush walks along the moors. Very welcoming. Thank you.

Popped in on the way back from Falmouth after spotting the pub in the morning, glad we did excellent food, friendly service and the regulars could speak any more highly of the place, we'll definitely be back in

Welcome stop on the route of the mining trail between Portreath and Devoran. Local beer from Keltek Brewery in Redruth.

A welcoming friendly, cosy pub. Great local ale n bitter as well as some of the usual brands. Our food was well presented and very tasty! Toilets were spotless. I would recommend this pub for food and drinks. Local chat too. Come down you would not be disappointed.

What a beautiful looking pub. When you get inside it is clean an has fresh decor. You'll get the warmest of welcomes. The carvery is available in three different sizes. If you like karaoke 🎤 then you would be happy. They weren't seeing food that evening ( admittedly they did do Sunday lunches) but the barmaid wasn't particularly friendly and I can't say that we felt welcomed.

Lovely country pub and bike meeting place on Wednesday night

Had the steak sizzler , was amazing and plenty of it to, served by the friendliest waitress ever would recommend highly.

A lovely pub stop for the cycle on the coast to coast trail many years ago. From the nice lemonade and lime pint in a hot summers sweat day of cycling and also sandwiched between two roads so it's easy to find if parking or part of the trail if cycling

Proper pub, great staff, quality food, cracking pint, perfectly priced, warm and friendly, plenty of parking.

Second visit for Sunday Lunch. Lovely people running this pub who provided warm and cosy atmosphere and a real value for money roast which was tasty and plentiful. Good coffee as well. They obviously go out of their way to give their guests an enjoyable experience.

Service was exceptional, not over done but polite and timely. Good Covid precautions - which actually improves the experience. You're called up the carvery (which I had!) table by table which means no queue. Food was excellent, great selection of veg, all hand prepared, awesome cauliflower cheese, perfect roasties. Meat was insanely good. Three choices and all succulent. Pork was perfect, turkey was moist, beef medium. I've only written so much as I'm so impressed. It was worth the money and there were choices for all appetites. A table of ladies had dessert. They were huge!! The table fell quite as they mined thier way through thier choices. Table opposite ordered from the main menu and although I wasn't aware of thier selection, the couple were more than happy it seemed. I'd go there again for sure. Hope that helps.

Huge great beer garden with a large undercover seating area. Welcoming staff. Dog friendly. Popular stop off point on the cycle trail. Great community. Regular evening entertainment.

We were on holiday near by and went for a cycle ride and passed by the pub , on the way back we decided to go in for a coffee, nice pub great welcome, two roaring fires and quite a few customers in , as i say we only had a coffee but it would be somewhere i would return to if i was in Cornwall again, it was so inviting and it does cater for cyclists. Thank you .

Had a really nice steak and ale pie accompanied with a fine local ale, the staff were friendly and it was a warm and cosy atmosphere with the real fire lit. We will be back 👍

Arrived at the beginning of December and was expecting to stay the night as its a registered pub stop. The pub was cold with no central heating turned on or fire. I was told it would cost £10 to stay as they don't serve food on Mondays or Tuesdays. I was not impressed and left for a much warmer welcome nearby.

If you want good honest pub grub at a fab price ( about £6.00 for proper beef cheeseburger and huge amount of chips or the same for 3 veg Sausages with same amount of chips)with lovely people then come here. Very friendly landlord and lady and lots!!!! of food!!

Had a lovely dinner here earlier this week, very good portion sizes and the chef even came out to check we were happy with the food. It was the best meal we had all week. Very friendly staff and a lovely country pub. Would definitely recommend.

Great atomosphere, staff, bar snacks and beer. Haven't tried their cornish cream tea yet, but it looks lovely with homemade scones, yummy.

This is a great pub and the people who run it are very friendly and helpful I would recommend it to anyone.

Outdoor dining was well thought out for all weathers with a gazebo in place. There’s was heaters but these were off, even though it was pretty chilly! Not much choice on the menu- basket meals, jacket potato’s etc. Quick and easy. Came here as read reviews of good menu with home cooked food, we were slightly disappointed- nowhere stated online about having a reduced menu in place. Diet Coke was flat and cider tap was switched off (told could buy something close to what we wanted in a bottle) Waitress was friendly but we could tell this was a locals pub.

Lovely food and drink, great prices, shame about the member of staff who walked around smoking while we were eating on one of her several breaks, would still go back though and recommend it.

Absolutely awful and rude service. Took almost an hour in an empty restaurant to get our food. They had no food in stock. Then to to top it off they charged us too much.

Really friendly service, steak and ale pie was delicious. One of the best we've tasted! Felt very welcome, and our pup was very spoiled with treats. Very pleased to discover this is our local, and we will be certainly be back for the live entertainment, quiz nights and the Sunday Roast!!

This was a lovely homely pub. It was really welcoming and it was lovely that it was dog friendly and welcomed well behaved dogs. Our meal was served quickly and was presented beautifully. My steak was cooked as requested too. The prices were very competitive and service was excellent. Would recommend.
