Service was impeccable, and the food was restaurant quality, I would highly recommend. Returned to this pub today and wish we hadn't bothered. Ordered chicken strip's and fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce. Batter was soaked in grease, nothing was seasoned, not even a hint of salt and pepper let alone any other kind of seasoning. Atmosphere was non existent didn't even feel friendly. Won't be going back.

Popped in for lunch after a long walk. This place is so welcoming. They found us a table straight away even though we hadn't booked. The food was restaurant quality. We will definitely be back. Amended Review Feb 2025. Oh how the place has changed. Regrettably the food has gone downhill in a very big fashion. The fish chips and mushy peas were not good. I could taste nothing but grease and my fish was overcooked on one side. The mushy peas were awful and the tartar sauce didn't taste like it was home made. Unfortunately we will not be back.

Really gutted as was excited to try this pub after a 2 hour walk. The roast was appalling, I’ve genuinely never had such flavourless food. The gravy was pure coloured water, even bisto is better than this. The potatoes were rocks and no flavour or herbs, the vegetables came in a bowl and was like my granny serving me boiled slop from 30 years ago, no effort or taste. We were so hungry after a 2hr walk with our baby and had to wait 45mins for the food (which we were fine with) that we ate it, otherwise I’d have left and not paid after one bite. I genuinely don’t know how the food could be so tasteless. My husband eats everything and he was mortified we had to pay £25 per roast for it!!! I never season my food with salt and I used it 3 times as tasting salt was better than watery nothing. He also ordered cauliflower cheese as a side and the portion was for 2 and tiny and low and behold tasteless. Very shocked as there are clearly good reviews for this place but it’s shocking tasteless food (roast) especially for the price! Admittedly the pub is small but there was no baby changing station and we had to use a dining table around the corner to change my 1 1/2yr old. The pub is clearly popular and friendly nice staff and atmosphere so I’m gutted to leave this review but I feel for the price I had to say something.

What a fabulous pub. Service was attentive, polite and efficient. Food was delicious and we didn't have to wait long. Good food and drink with brilliant service. What more could you ask for, especially in a local pub. Highly recommend a visit.

After a 7 mile walk with friends a warm welcome and great 🍺 the burger with blue cheese and goodly portion of golden chips hard to beat. Others chose the fish and chips and seemed to agree 👍. Currently thinking when I might return with family

A fun little pub near Bath with a lovely atmosphere. The publican was friendly and accommodating, and the service was lovely. The Sunday Roast chicken was good, although the potatoes were a bit chewy of the outside and the cauliflower cheese was a bit stodgy. Can’t wait to come back and try the Sunday Lunch bream with chorizo, which looked delicious.

Superb. Nicest arancini ever. Delicious rare beef, lovely fresh vegetables plus cauliflower cheese and decent roasties. Friendly and welcoming staff and lovely atmosphere. Manages to be a proper local with dogs and wellies and people watching rugby, avoiding the designer gastro pub feel. Can’t wait to go back. (Great local cider too.)

Good food & beer and in a lovely location. Service could have been much better (young chap, glasses). Arrived at 150pm and abruptly told we needed to order asap as kitchen closed at 2. A couple arriving behind us were told no more orders! Food served to just one of our tables as the group split and seemed like the same young chap didn't want to walk a few extra paces and place the food where it should have been. Hospitality has been hard hit over the last few years, you would expect them to be more welcoming and not turning away business!

Last night I had the best hamburger I have had in 20 years - with all the trimmings - it was perfect. My husband, who is a vegetarian, thought his Gnocchi was 'knock out good - and he is a Chef. The Fox and Badger is a great local pub. It even has a separate bar for locals to drink, which is so unusual these days, which was full of local people who clearly value this asset to the community. The atmosphere was amazing. Two weeks ago I took two elderly gentlemen to luncheon, which informed my decision to visit again, because they loved their fish & chips (both of them fishermen who know what 'fresh' means), as well as the proper old-fashioned pub atmosphere - with lovely flashes redolent of the history of this pub, which meant to much to them. The young and friendly staff could not have been more accommodating (moving us to a larger table near the huge fireplace), more attentive in their service, or kinder. The Fox & Badger is also great value. I wish I could give it more stars.

Just cycled from Bath to Wellow. Stopped at the Fox and Badger for a drink. Lovely setting and very friendly. Warning to cyclist! :- don't secure your bike to the sign post in the green centre (near the public phone box). The owner of the land expects you to read her mind as there is no signage to say its private and not only stuck a note on the bike but also came and threatened us by informing us that she would cut the bike locks and dispose of the bikes! Despite apologising she refused to 'get off her high horse'. Best avoid this patch of land!

This is always an agreeable experience when visiting. Wife and I had been heading for an alternative venue, but missing the turning we find ourselves approaching the F&B. Not a problem - even less so when we discover this is a Steak & Red Wine night - 2 steak meals and a bottle of plonk for just over £30 - bullseye. An added bonus was meeting again one of the most efficient and professional bar staff we've ever had the pleasure to encounter.

Went for a Sunday roast, good food however portion size was on the small side. For a group of 3 only a small bowl of vegetables was provided. Service charge was added on despite there being very little service given and when I challenged the charge and asked for it to be removed it was refused. Left with a sour taste in our mouths and significantly out of pocket for a small meal and next to nothing service. If looking for a welcoming, friendly and good value Sunday pub meal I'd look elsewhere - you will find none of those things here

Excellent food however over priced. Went for a Sunday lunch and I would definitely recommend the beef however the experience was spoilt by the portion size. We were a party of three and were given one small bowl of vegetables between us. For £20 each you would think you would be given a better helping of veg. Further the waitress refused to take the optional service charge off considering we were disappointed with portion size. Sadly we will not be visiting again.

Best pub food I’ve ever eaten. There’s a reason this place is so popular with the locals. The food is beyond the general pub standard, up there with restaurant standard - food possibly more expensive than the average pub, but well worth the money. Found the pub by accident today, tucked away in a picturesque village. We both opted for the burgers & chips (one with cheese and one without) and we were pleasantly surprised to be honest. Firstly, the staff... not only friendly but also competent.... the order came exactly as we had asked. The burgers were big and chunky and perfectly cooked (enough pink in the burger and some juice when sqeezed), very tasty too, with onion/pickle etc. 👍👍👍👍

Most of the service was excellent, although one bar staff was very hard to communicate with. Slightly cramped table although I think this was due to the rugby being on.

We have stayed in several of the hotels in the Pig group, and this is our top favourites. The location, surrounded by countryside, is perfect for an 'away-from- it-all' stay. The building, with a taste of the homely country big house, is perfect for a relaxing glass of something by a log fire. Great food and drink and really comfortable bedrooms with great views. Above all, the staff are wonderful, attentive, friendly, relaxed but very professional and helpful. We had an amazing long walk there, and felt perfectly at home during our stay. Yes, of course we will be back! Sending our best wishes to all the staff. Colin and Brenda. 😃👍

Coming here around 11am it was packed however, manage to secure a seat as someone left a table near the door. Ordered oat cappuccino and carrot cake the barista recommend me to try it wasn't disappointing. The baristas all smiling, the atmosphere was lively yet warm community coffee vibes, you definitely can sit there for hours doing people watching or just killing time. One of my absolute coffee shop in Bath, if you have time this place is a must visit
