Called in for a drink, lovely place and stunning views from beer garden 👌

We had a lovely friendly service. Sitting outside afterwards we sat with a pint looking over across the fields and the landscape.

We had a fabulous meal. We hadn't planned on eating out but couldn't resist when we smelled the food. The Chicken and Leek pie was delicious and really good value for money and I would highly recommend.

New managers in this last week. I had home made steak pie and chips. It was delicious. My wife had chicken anf leek pie and also enjoyed it. Mick the landlord said he was very keen to use as much local food and beer as he can. That's got to be a good thing. My friend had the first Sunday carvery last weekend and said he and family really enjoyed. Looking forward to trying the food and beer in the future. We all need out local pubs to thrive👍🍺🍺🍺

A brilliant pub in a quaint village, we will definitely be visiting again

Just popped in for burgers and drinks. Food was great, decent portions and good value.

Went for Sunday lunch which was plentiful and tasty except for the roast potatoes which were very over cooked, or should I say burnt, we went at 2 so I would imagine an early sitting would be advisable

Came to the Fox & Goose after travelling up to visit Alton Towers. A warm welcome was received and the food was simply out of this world! Could not recommend any more highly, will certainly be returning for the next trip.

We were booked on the Churnet Valley Polar Express event Sunday 17th December 2023. Having travelled around 70 miles to the venue we nade it a family day out by booking a cavery dinner at the Fox and Goose. So glad we made this choice, food and service were superb. Very well organised service with each table invited to the carvery at their alloted time. We were really impressed with the railway event and hope to visit more throughout the year. Of course they will include further visits to the Fox and Goose without question.

Excellent customer service. Always a very friendly atmosphere and very welcoming. Food is always exceptionally good and great value for money. We always enjoy coming here and the staff are always very friendly, approachable and helpful. We highly recommend trying this fabulous pub.

Eating a few years in england now and this was the best i ever had. It was fantastic. Also the service and prices are excelent. Definitely 5stars.

Great location 👌 with limited menu but good the food that they are serving. Recommend the fully loaded chilli chips.

Went for dinner in a party of 9, the meals were all delicious served quickly with plenty of vegetables. We were too full to contemplate a desert. We will return.

Very disappointed with our experience. Waited for 1 hour and 20 minute for our food to arrive, after repeatedly bring told it was almost ready... And the food itself was very average abd not worth the unexplained wait...

Very friendly and welcoming staff, Clean and inviting bar and restaurant. Went into 2 other pub/restaurants before finding the Fox &Goose and I'm so happy I walked back out of them. Will definitely be returning when myself and family are in the area. I would highly recommend for family meals or just a quick pint 👌 we ordered 5 different meals and all were outstanding

We stumbled across this cute pub after a long walk on the roaches! Would highly recommend as the welcoming and service was on point and the surprise veggie carvery we had was to die for! Not only that but our cocker spaniel Teddy also received a tasty bowl of beef and turkey from the chef. Thanks!!!!

Lovely country pub atmosphere. Excellent cask ales. Friendly and helpful staff. A Great deal on steaks every Thursday. Access is limited for disabled at the main entrance. There may have been another entrance that I didn't see.

Difficult to reach the bar for drinkers standing three deep. Staff unable to make an aperol spritz. only one red wine on offer. unlikely to return.

Our brass band , Penkhull Village Brass, played carols & festive music for a couple of hours last night. Foxt is a little village perched on a high hilltop with this very welcoming pub. Besides serving good food it's a magnet for the locals & passing trade. Our "payment" for playing was bowls of hot tasty beef stew & crusty bread to dip in. Absolutely delicious.

Bar staff had no idea how to make an aperol spritz and there was only one sort of red wine on offer. Penkhull Brass Band were good even if most of the audience talked loudly over them

Meeting with Conservative members for a Christmas lunch. Very enjoyable. Great atmosphere and location.

Very nice pub, good selection of well kept beers, very good staff, well cooked food, steak night tremendous value, pool table in small separate room. What's not to like. Great place. We aren't local, were visiting Alton Towers and staying in the village. If we were local we would become regulars.

Went to the Foxtoberfest last night, great fun with Penkhull Village Brass playing Umpa and various other brass arrangements. Some good German beers on offer along with a great pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Curry Wurst and Bratwurst topped off a great evening. Thanks to all at the Fox and Goose for making it possible. 🍺🍻

Lovely food ,service & atmosphere,called on spec & had a delicious carvery,v welcoming with a warm cosy fire,will definitely return ( if they'll have us) we have a quite temperamental sausage dog & he was made very welcome too ,fantastic first visit!

Food was excellent, portions were huge, and they allow dogs. Happy to accommodate a large party at short notice. Staff were friendly and efficient, absolutely nothing bad to say about the place.

The pub is in a village called Foxt. Off the main roads but we'll worth the trip. Home cooked food full of taste. A lovely welcome and attentive staff. Fully recommended.

Lovely country pub, great food. Couldn't do enough for us regarding wheelchair access. Ended up moving a table & umbrella onto the car park as access was difficult to the outside area due to the large gravel making it difficult to manoeuvre.

Nice views outside, food was superb, best onion rings you can get and a lovely steak. Everyone enjoyed there meal (family of 5) and all fresh, home cooked food. Nice and clean pub, prices were very reasonable.

A good all round country pub & restaurant...do I need to say more...

SUNDAY CARVERY IS REASONABLY GOOD We sat in the conservatory which is the best eating area in this pub with views over the countryside. We were first-time visitors. One meat-eater and one vegetarian. The veggie choice bizarrely was Mediterranean risotto which doesn't really match a carvery but tasted good according to my partner and had lots of flavour. This included helping yourself to carvery veg on a separate plate. Cost £9.95 I had beef and turkey as a meat-eater. First observation is that the meat portion you get is fairly SMALL. One slice of turkey, one slice of beef and the carver tried to cut it as thin as possible. The meat was soft and tender and good quality. I could have done with MORE meat. There's a large veg selection, but a lot of the veggies looked ordinary, with the exception of the cauliflower and broccoli cheese bake which looked and tasted great. I also had sprouts which were just okay. The roast potatoes were pretty okay, fairly crispy but could've been more so and tasted okay. The stuffing ball was good and had sausage meat in it. The yorkie pud was not good and was stodgy. The gravy was okay. Horseradish sauce was good. Cost £9.95 Will we return soon? Cannot make my mind up so not sure!!!

Loved the beer and music festival.

Poor customer service and quite a rude waiter/host. We arrived without a reservation after visiting a nearby wildlife park, we had found the pub online and did not read that reservations were required on the website. We entered the pub as 2 adults and 4 children. We were looked up and down ( not greeted at all), when asked if there was a table available the man seemed to be in disbelief. He replied stating that space was not a factor but he only had one chef to feed 50 people in two hours.. he was quite dismissive and rude suggesting we would be better suited to a Wetherspoons!! When I said no thanks and he only had to say that we needed a reservation and not be rude, he tutted. Not a welcome place for an out of towner!!

Me and hubby visited here last night after recommendation from friends . The service was excellent , the pub spotless , the food was amazing . Cannot speak highly enough of this pub and the Owner who was friendly and appreciative . Defo going again

Had the Carvery last Sunday, the food was really good. It was topped up all through the day with fresh food, really tasty, highly recommend!

Very good pub food and choice of drinks

We have today tried the Sunday Carvery. I must say best carvery I have ever had. Food was all Excellent, meat and vegetables cooked to perfection. Lovely spacious dining area with views of the surrounding countryside. Staff were very polite, professional and friendly. In all it would be a 10/10. We will certainly be returning and highly recommend to others. Thank you fox & Goose and well done.

What an absolutely beautiful country pub warm welcoming bar staff. We went for a meal with friends and will truly be visiting again. Food was cooked to perfection service was first class. Beverages purchased at the bar and bought to the table was better than expected. Following our meal we relocated and sat in the front of the pub near to an open fire recommended for these cold winter nights. We met with the publican Anthony again friendly and willilling to share information on the local area, tips on areas to visit for fun or nice local walks. This is a truly welcoming gem of a pub if you're visiting the surrounding areas it's a must. Ideal for family meals after visiting froghall steam railway or the local peak Wildlife Park and Alton towers or a walk in the. Peak District such as Dovedale or the Roaches. See you again soon.

Lovely hot meal, plenty of fresh vegetableschoice from the carvery, with three meats on offer. Atmosphere in the bar was friendly and cosy in front of an open fire, wonderful on a chilly day.

Brilliant! We've been in the area several times but I hadn't realised there was a pub at Foxt. The Fox & Goose had mostly great reviews recently, so we found our way there down single track lanes from where we were staying locally. It is definitely worth the effort to find this pub!! Nice welcome, cracking food. It was steak night and that looked tempting but we went for pub standards, fish & chips & scampi & chips. Pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord and a coke. Really nice dining room with views far & wide. Good friendly service, nice beer and when the food arrived, big portions!!!! We had a lovely meal and steadily worked our way through the really great food, hot, tasty and plenty of it!! We were both Impressed and would definitely, definitely come here again when in the area. Worth a try and five stars for us!!! I'd be happy for this pub to be my local, to be honest!!!
