Fowlers Farm in Braintree

Superb food with great service and staff, very welcoming and friendly. If we’re ever this way again would definitely go back. Plus the bull dogs are gorgeous 🐶

We were staying in an adjacent hotel which was very basic so did not have high expectations. However, once we entered we were made to feel very welcome by the gentleman who squeezed us in when we had not booked. The menu was interesting and the food well presented and cooked to perfection. We were looked after by Keri who could not be faulted. Altogether a most enjoyable experience

Just an amazing evening at Fowler’s Farm, had beef Wellington which was awesome! Scott and Alison did us proud! Can’t recommend Fowler’s enough. We come here often and are never disappointed, Vicky and Kerry always look after us. Fowler’s offers a good mixture of good service, country charm, good food and good value, it keeps us coming back!

One of the best visits I’ve had to Fowler’s farm. Victoria m was amazing. All staff were very attentive will definitely be back.

We saw the new brunch menu advertised and decided to give it a go. The food was lovely, well cooked and good quality. It also comes in two sizes so perfect for all appetites. The service was great, our waitress, Sophie, was very knowledgable about the new menu and able to give us pointers on what to have. We look forward to our next visit.

Definitely visit this place. Beautiful cosy surroundings, lovely menu.. beautifully made food and great service.Tonight I was served by Vicki sophie (could have been suzy) and Sam. Who were all attentive but not intrusive. Friendly but professional and equally on a previous visit I was served by someone else equally as friendly and attentive. As I'm away with work and have to eat alone its the perfect place.. with a homely atmosphere that you can relax in. Thank you to all the staff. Really great give it a visit.

Celebrated my birthday here yesterday and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious. I had the trio of roast which came with all the trimmings and yummy Yorkshire puddings. The staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. Would definitely recommend Fowler’s Farm to anyone who is looking for a lovely pleasant meal out.

Absolutely gorgeous food, and drinks! Most attentive and welcoming staff and can’t wait to go back! The pub is in a perfect setting and the decor is beautiful and very calming.

I booked for 10 people for lunch at the pub/restaurant but when we arrived they said that it was for only two - despite me having had a confirmation from them! We sat down at about 1.15pm and service was slow. When we came to order we were told that there would be a delay of 30-40 minutes for main courses and so we ordered some starters to fill in the time. It was an hour for the mains to be served and then another half an hour for desserts. We actually finished at 4.30pm. Some of the food was good, the lamb in particular but some was mediocre, the fish cakes weren't that fishy. There seemed to be a few tables occupied but not much else going on and so I have no idea why the whole meal took so long. I certainly wouldn't go there again.

there were 13 people of our family, celebrating my husbands birthday. the staff were very attentive to our needs, also the food came very quickly. we had the little room at the back, so that made it nice and private.they aloud us to bring a cake and candles, to which they presented it to my husband, also wrote happy birthday at the side in chocolate.

We are not overly keen on vintage inns as they can be very hit and miss,however, presently surprised by our visit to fowlers Farm. The food was good and the team worked like a well oiled cog,it was nice to see .would recommend it.

A large group of us went to the Fowlers to try the new brunch menu and it was really lovely. A good selection of choice and the food was great. The service was brilliant and the staff really attentive. Would highly recommend, and we will definitely be visiting again!

Just returned from a wonderful Brunch at the Fowler’s Farm. Quality food and excellent service, I hope that it’s popular so it remains as we’ll definitely be returning!

I had lunch at the restaurant and sat in the garden with a cousin that I had never met before and her partner. We wanted somewhere where we could sit, talk and get to know each other and we couldn't have picked a better place.Kerry, our waitress was excellent. She was attentive and very helpful. The food was served promptly and delicious.When I booked a table, I asked for a young Italian male waiter. Whilst waiting for luch to arrive, Adam (the manager) arrived with a framed print of "Manuel" the waiter from Fawlty Towers with a special message. I was so taken aback by the kindness shown by all the staff - it absolutely made my day.

WOW! What a find on the way home to Bedfordshire. Great friendly staff, helpful and accommodating but the star of the day were our roast dinners!! OMG!!! Generous portions of beef dripping potatoes, seriously good parsnips, succulent meats - in fact nothing was wrong at all. The best roast we’ve had out in a very very long time. Thank you!

We ordered a Sunday roast for 2!! I had the beef and the wife had the Pork - this was a first for us and we didn't know what to expect. The food was fantastic, fresh, and plentiful (we did order extra beef dripping potatoes and cauliflower cheese). I would not hesitate in ordering a takeaway again from here, we were really happy with our tasty Sunday roast.

Stayed at the Premier Inn for a week and had our evening meals here. Food was absolutely beautiful. Everything was cooked to perfection, presented beautifully and delicious. I couldn’t fault any of the food ordered, either starters, mains or pudding. The selection was varied and managed to chose a different mains every evening which isn’t easy in some pub/restaurants. The serving staff were very friendly, polite and knowledgeable of their menu. Our main waitress was Vicky Butler, who served us extremely well, with great humour and made us feel welcome from day 1. Fowler’s Farm is an excellent pub/restaurant which seems to attract a lot of people throughout the day. Definitely will be back.

Despite it being a busy Friday evening the service level was quite reasonable, our food came in 45 minutes. Good quality pub fare and the server staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

Visited this evening for my partners birthday meal, and as always it was lovely. A friendly greeting, brilliant attentive waiting staff, food was delicious (thanks chefs Alison and Scott). We will be back again soon!

We had a wonderful family meal here and the service was fantastic. The trio of lamb was very well liked buy our party.

Stayed in the adjacent Premier Inn and grabbed a meal at Fowler’s Farm. Sometimes the pubs next to Premier Inn’s can be a bit hit or miss, well this was definitely in the former category with excellent COVID safe procedures and cracking food. Staff very helpful too

We came here for dinner from the Premier Inn next door as they don’t have a restaurant, and we’re so glad we did. The service was excellent. We were seated straight away and our server, Kirsty, checked if we had any food allergies. The menu, although was apparently reduced, had a great selection with something for everyone. I had the sea bass and my friend had the duo of lamb. We were both delighted with our meals. Compliments to the chef, Alex. It looked as good as it tasted. Kirsty was friendly and attentive and the whole made for a great experience. Would definitely recommend.

Been coming to Fowler’s for a few years and I have never once had a bad experience the staff here are amazing and give you a nice warm welcome.. Kelly T and Teresa both went out there ways today to help us with both menus and drinks. Highly recommend!

Today was my wife's first trip out after spending an unexpected month stay in hospital. We decided on coming here for lunch and we're glad we did Sophie was very pleasant and helpful. We had the tempura prawns and also the the chicken and mushroom pie in a chardonnay sauce with roasted vegetables. The food was excellent and the service was spot on. Thank you Sophie for making this visit a great success. Your smile and service is a credit to you and this restaurant.

The food is very good. The waitress Vicky was exceptional nothing was too much trouble very friendly polite lovely girl!! I wanted to tip her personally, but was told it was not company policy An the tip has to be shared ,which I think is totally wrong .I don’t want to tip the rest of the staff she deserved it she was serving us so she should rightfully receive the full tip . Managers need to change this .

COVID protocols spot on and service with a smile from the off, food was also good and as a business visitor it ticked every box. Special mention to Vicky who managed table service, she was exceptional from start to finish. Definitely revisit on next trip to Braintree.

This place is normally great, good and fast service, good food, nice atmosphere. But, tonight was not a good night. It took 45 mins for anyone to come and take our food order. When the food came, it was luke warm and had clearly been sitting out before it got to us. The sauce had a skin on top of it, this was a good gauge that it had been sitting there a while before it got to our table. We had to ask for cutlery, as this wasn't brought out with our food. We picked at our starters with our hands (it was calamari). All of the staff were very friendly though and continuously apologetic. Debating whether or not to go back after this experience though tbh

This pub is run by Vintage Inns, they have pretty much the same menu at the Angel in Broomfield and The Fox and Raven in chelmsford and in both of those pubs the food is exceptional.Here however they can’t even make a burger! I’ve been meeting people here since it first opened and in all those years I’ve had one decent meal about 6 years ago.There was barely any burger in my burger and what was there was burnt and broken into little pieces, there was a scraping of brisket and it had a weird after taste. I honestly hate eating here because they get so much trade because of the building and beer garden and where they’re situated and there never make any effort with the food. It’s like they have a toddler making the food!Vintage Inns have made it so so simple for all their chain pubs how can this place consistently mess up a menu which all the other Vintage Inns can do so well! They also charge £1 more for their burger here than the angel!Took 15 minutes to get served after being seated, had to hunt the waitress down despite it not being exactly rammed and the child who brought our drinks out looked at all the glasses and plates on our table three times and just left all the empties which is always nice when the flies and wasps are about.I’ll keep coming back for the drinks but not the food.

The Fowler’s Farm will always be one of my favourite places to eat! First time there since Christmas 2019 due to Covid. Treated my Dad who hadn’t been out for a meal since last year, this is also his favourite place to eat. Certainly didn’t disappoint from the moment we arrived we were looked after extremely well. Superb Cod Fish Finger Sandwich with chips, was glad to see it still on the menu!Will definitely be back very soon

Thursday 27th May 2021. Myself and my best friend were staying at the Premier Inn next door and decided to go here for our evening meal after reading the menu online and thinking that it looked good. Well, am I pleased that we did! From the moment we arrived (3 hours early) we were looked after wonderfully. We were given a table outside so we could enjoy the unexpected sunshine, and then after a couple of hours, we went inside to our table (43) (so still early) where we had one of the best 3 course meals either of us had had for a LONG time. The food was absolutely exceptional, served piping hot and our waitresses Kelly (T) and Kirsty could not have done more for us. They answered every question, went over and above, and made us feel so welcome.100% recommend this place to everybody!

I came here after work with my colleagues to celebrate making it to the holidays (hooray!) and we had the most wonderful time at Fowler’s Farm. First we had drinks in the front garden, which was spacious and lovely in the sun. Then we moved indoors to our table where we received friendly and excellent service from Keri as well as the rest of the team. We loved all our meals and felt very well looked after for the duration of our visit. Thank you to Rob and the kitchen team as well for the delicious dinner!

Awesome afternoon getting lashed up with boys, proper geezers pub this one. No met up since before lockdown and thought we’d hit fowlers. 6 of us in total sat in the sun and had a brilliant afternoon. Seated quickly and can’t complain. Decent bit of nosh in there too despite what some of the other customers were saying. So 10 out of 10 from us!Top draw entertainment! its not often you can go out for decent **ss up these days and have free cabaret thrown in. Sat there all day watching and listening to the staff complaining about each other and mixing up the food and drinks. We shouldn’t have laughed but when the effin n jeffin started between the waitresses we rang a few of the other boys to get down. Nobody doing the trace ap on the door or checking people in so they just sat down, again can’t complain so thumbs up from us. Not disappointed so we ordered more booze and listened to the best days entertainment for ages. We never met the elusive dave, but according to a waitresses hes a effin c**t. Brilliant day and will return. If you’re looking for somewhere to chill with the lads where you can just walk-in a sit down with your mates without getting the third degree about covid this and that, get down to Fowlers! 9 of us in total, no masks no issues, even when we went inside. We all agree that the swill was proper and the nosh top drawer. Just filtered the terrible & poor reviews on Trip Advisor and not what we experienced so don’t pay attention to all that. Can’t rate the place highly enough. Looking forward to the next p*ss up in the sun lolSee you all soon!

Sam manages the site, a bright passionate individual, who has the rare skill of hearing and seeing everything that transpires in real time. Service levels and customer satisfaction are obviously key to this gentlemen's ethos and this comes across in a multitude of ways from remembering your favourite drink to your preferred seating area in the restaurant. Such a great people person and certainly someone that I would earmark for growth within my organisation. Conscientious and assiduous, a great team player and leader! Theresa is the kindest person, with a sympathetic ear and caring attitude, always securing the needs of the customer with no waiting or wanting for anything. I am sure you will agree that this alone can make or break any customer experience. Such a skill is simply limited in today's society and one to be treasured by any company. Not to be underestimated Theresa has a gift of assessing her customers expeditiously and putting them at ease at lightning speed, resulting in a comfortable and relaxed experience for all concerned. Theresa also makes a great fire, no easy task! Whilst I have named two individuals from your company, (apologies I do not know their surnames), every staff member is a joy to behold. All team members, without exception, really are delightful to interact with. Of course, in such unprecedented times the tolerance levels of individuals generally are limited and somewhat taxing. The most yummy Roast around. This is our favourite place to go.The veg is stunning, meat lovely and the portion size is never a let down. Plus the extras are always fav and hard not to go for! The staff are always kind and the atmosphere is fab! Shout out to Ellie she was super on it!!! Thanks guys... never a disappointment xx

We have been here a few times but have never left a review, the food is good and the prices are fair. it's not fine dining but it is above average pub food.What must be mentioned is the service and organisation , it really is first class.All the staff are amazing , friendly, super efficient, polite and so well organised.It speaks so well of the management.Special thanks must go to our waitress/server Kelly T. she was just so friendly and happy, it's been a bad year with Covid and we have seen the standard of service fall in many shops, pubs and restaurantsKelly and the other staff were a sheer delight, even the barman called out Thank You when we were leaving, GREAT< GREAT< GREAT SERVICE.

Haven’t eaten there for about a year when the food was not good and was pleasantly surprised. Staff were polite and attentive. Very clean and well spaced tables. Food was delicious. I look forward to going back after lockdown.

My wife, her aunt and I have eaten here twice recently. The food is well prepared and presented. This time all three of us had fish and chips - about £14 each which when you consider what you pay in a fish and chip shop, is quite reasonable. Best fish and chips I've had in a long while. On our previous visit I had a brisket sandwich (you don't see brisket on many menus) and my wife had fish pie and we both enjoyed the food. Deserts are good - they do a mini desrt choice - a small portion of the desert (I had apple and blackberry crumble) with a hot drink (and a liqueur for and extra £1.50. Service is polite and attentive. I hope to see it back in business after the latest ;ockdown.

We booked a table at Fowler’s Farm for last night, Tom was our waiter, he was very friendly, and attentive. The food we ordered was beautiful, and cooked to perfection. The prices were good as well. It was nice to eat out and have food better than you could cook at home! My partner proposed to me after we’d finished our dinner, they brought us over a bottle of Prosecco, which was so lovely of them!Thank you to Adam, Tom and everyone else at Fowler's Farms for making our evening lovely!Would highly recommend. Looking forward to eating here again sometime in the future!

Our food and drink order was taken quickly- we all ordered the Sunday roast beef, however we were informed that it was out of stock and they could offer the bourguignon beef to go with our roast instead. What a fantastic swap! The meal was bursting with flavour, the meat was so tender and fell apart beautifully. There was plenty of veg and the kitchen facilitated our alterations to the dish. The staff were so attentive- bringing extra gravy upon request and water for our dog. The atmosphere was welcoming, like being a guest in someone’s home. Couldn’t fault the experience, definitely will be back. Thank you Tom and Kirsty!

My calamari was amazing it was seasoned well and had amazing texture!! The service was brilliant my waitress was Bryony, who looked after us very well! she always made sure our drinks were topped up and was very helpful in general. I will definitely be back with my wife!

Just next door to the Premier Inn so obvious choice for dinner. Lovely decor and cosy with a real fire. Got a table without booking but was fairly busy.First drinks were returned without a fuss ( gone off pale ale ) 2 mains ordered pork belly was delicious. But the beef pie ( which looked good ) was horrendous full of twangy fat. The server offered to get another but this was declined. Surely another would be the same? And no discount made to bill. So be careful !!

Went yesterday with our friends. Never disappointed, as always great food, great drinks. Served by Kelly T who was really friendly and attentive. Gin and tonic was great. We all had different roast lunch and all 4 were crummy. Always look forward to going to Fowlers Farm because as far as I'm concerned it's the best place in Braintree. Another plus they are taking covid very seriously and I did see them clean tables and chairs after each use.

Went to Fowler’s Farm for a meeting but hadn’t realised I needed to book a table. The duty manager (Adam I think was his name) provided me with a mask (which I’d also forgotten) and found a table for us as I only needed it for an hour. Very helpful and went above and beyond. On the back of that I booked again for a few days later and decided to try the food. The duty manager this time was a young lady and was equally as helpful and accommodating. Once again service was great as was the food. Fowler’s Farm are following all of the guidance for Coronavirus and have created a safe environment. The staff should be congratulated on the very friendly service that they offer. I will definitely be returning.

Food was OK but really over priced and not enough of it!! Went to McDonald's as we both were still hungry

I’m was hopping for better quality food to be honest, everything is frozen or pre made, in my opinion slightly over priced. I remember this place to have good quality food, unfortunately now that’s not the case. Still good atmosphere for a drink.

Live the food in this place and service.I'm concerned about the covid 19 cleaning.Tables are wiped down no problem But what about the chairs we all touch the chairs but we noticed very little to no wiping of the chairs is being carried out.Also a guy walkes in wearing no mask goes to his table kisses and shakes hands with other occupants nothing said to the moron. He is then getting up and going to the toilets still moving around with no face covering..Why is this allowed !! Obviously he is a moron but should he be allowed to do this.

We use Fowler’s on a fairly regular basis and have to say normally the food is of a good standard, but tonight we popped in for a quick meal and were massively disappointed. I ordered the Lobster Fishcakes with Asparagus, Poached Egg and Baby Potatoes, having had them previously and enjoyed them..... tonight however I was disappointed the asparagus was bitter and the poached egg was like a bullet, then to cap it off the fishcakes seemed cool, then on my 2nd forkful I was shocked to find I have a mouthful of ice. Obviously sent it back, and recieved a sorry from the poor waitress, who was in no way to blame. The chef/cook needs a lesson in food hygiene as frozen fish has the potential to cause real problems. Surprisingly they still charged me for my wife’s meal and the Diet Coke I had, no apology from the management. Sorry Fowler’s I won’t be back in a hurry.

The pandemic was taken to task here at Fowlers. Before sitting down, check in at the desk. Track and trace details taken. Quick check on table availability and a table number given. In out case outside as it was a wonderful lunchtime. Table ordering, or by app, and cashless payments preferred (naturally). Table and chairs had, obviously, been sanitised as they were so clean. One point I noticed is that two couples seem to ignore the notices and just grabbed a table without checking in. However, they were soon told otherwise. Fascinates me, in this climate, how some think they are different. It’s no wonder the rate is on its way up again.Great service from all the staff. Felt totally safe.Didn’t eat on this occasion but will be in in the near future.

Spent 3 nights dining here, and even during these uncertain times, the experience was outstanding. The staff were all extremely helpful and very polite. The menu choice was quite extensive considering it was a reduced menu what also enhanced the experience. The service each night was excellent and this was topped off by Vicky who was both very professional and extremely funny too. Many a laugh was had at our table and this just added to excellent evening. I would happily dine here again. An excellent pub/restaurant.

We booked for lunch here on a weekend away with my partner, we got stuck in traffic and rang to put our booking back which was done with no problems. When we arrived we were taken back by the pubs beautiful surroundings and they have done an incredible job with keeping the old original features and feel of the building. We were greeted and sat straight away with drinks orders taken and brought to us promptly. After struggling to decide from the various delicious sounding meals I decided on fish goujons with triple cooked chips and a rustic roll my partner ordered the pulled beef brisket topped burger, both meals arrived promptly and were beautifully presented. The food was incredible very fresh and flavoursome with very generous portions. Dessert was just as good my partner had the triple chocolate brownies and I chose black currant and apple crumble with custard both great choices. I highly recommend this place for both food and service

Both my partner and i visited Fowlers Farm last week. We found it to be a beautiful environment, lovely surroundings with tasteful décor. During our visit, the quality of good was exceptional great value for money, despite what some of the previous guest reviews may say. Food choice was great, and while portion size is not as large as some places, it was more than adequate leaving you just enough room for the delicious desserts. Our table service and waitress was professional despite how busy it was at the time. Sadly our mood and visit was soured when we were unfortunate in having to listen to disgraceful language from a member of staff. The language was distasteful and not only was she swearing loudly to other members of staff, but also mocking and ridiculing people less fortunate in society which she seemed to find highly amusing. Both my partner and i have managed hotel restaurants for over 20 years and been in the hospitality industry to some degree for much longer. We have never heard anything as grotesque from a member of staff working for such reputable pub chain as large as this. What made it worse, was we later discovered the girl responsible is a team leader and without naming and shaming , she is also mentioned in some of the reviews below. A mixed review. Positives. The food and service during our visit was as good as it could be. Social distancing was adhered to and it was also reassuring to see hand sanitiser available. Tables were clean and service was good. Negatives. Had the girl involved been a member of my team, at best she would have been formally disciplined and removed from her current position .Please do not be put off by this review as we will certainly return. We hope that the management team at the pub don't think we critising for the sake of it and hope this unfortunate incident doesn't happen again, but would recommend and will return.

Had a fantastic meal with some friends. The waitress (Baker) was very helpful and knew exactly when we she was needed. Would highly recommend for any occasion.

Excellent food and service. I had pork belly with apple sorbet, this was amazing. Staff were friendly and hospitality was second to none. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for couples, friends and families.

Great menu, from light bites to main meals. Socially distanced tables and several outdoor tables. Food was very tasty and Kirsty was a great waitress, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Will definitely return

I’ve visited Fowler’s Farm several times and the service is always fantastic and the food likewise. Myself and a friend came today for lunch with 3 babies under the age of 8 months old. Unfortunately we made the decision to leave before eating as the babies were getting irritable and we were worried that the other customers would be disturbed but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the staff for being so understanding and accommodating to us. We moved tables twice, made a mess and only ordered two drinks! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff especially one of the waiters who helped us pack up the high chairs and clean them twice! We’re looking forward to coming back when the babies are a bit older :)

Food lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent care and consideration regarding virus. Lots of parking, love the atmosphere, can’t wait to go again. Lots of choice regarding food.

Our local for a reason! Great food, great atmosphere, good beer and welcoming staff! Kirsty is great very attentive and it was a pleasure to be served by her. If you go on a Sunday grab a roast they are tip top!

Our first visit and a great experience. It was about 19.30 and the pub was busy and we were shown to a table and informed straight away that there was quite a wait for food. We were pleasantly surprised that the wait was not as long as we expected. The food was lovely and served with a smile. We will definitely be back.
