Foundation Coffee House in Manchester

Ridiculous place. Came in for breakfast but kitchen wasn’t open yet. Went out again and met the kitchen staff in the door. Obviously late for work. Gen Z at ”work” again.

Lovely little vibey place near Piccadilly and all the cheap hotels. I had lovely food and coffee and the place is chic, light, airy and aesthetic.

I loved the atmosphere of this place (even the music) and the freshness of the food.

A great addition to the Foundation Coffee house family. Only a short distance away from the OG Foundation in the Northern Quarter, but a little more central and very easy to pop in for a quick coffee and light lunch. The staff were extremely helpful, the service was quick and the food incredible. A great range of veggie/vegan options. I would highly recommend the Tofu and aubergine Focaccia 👍❤️

We went here to eat breakfast after a quick look at Google maps. It was a really good choice as the portion was nice and delivered shortly. The vegan breakfast is basically an English breakfast. The sausages they used are amazing. I need to figure out which brand it is. I will definitely come back next time in Manchester

I really appreciated the chill peaceful vibe here. The service was fabulous and the food and coffee were excellent too.

Decent coffee and nice cafe but has become extremely overpriced even compared to some top notch coffee spots in Manchester with.

Nice place, with people working away quietly on laptops over coffee. They were were out of some food, so couldn't do a "Full English", but the scrambled egg and salmon was very good. If you want to work in a coffee shop in Central Manchester, perhaps choose here, rather than a large chain?

Definitely the best coffee shop in Manchester! The staff are amazing, the coffee and matcha are incredible and the food is delicious! Larissa was lovely!

Bright and Airy café with lots of plugs and really good coffee options! I ordered: Mancmuffin The orange one Strawberry shortcake milkshake 8/10 ♡ Pros: • Portion was huge • Mancmuffin tasted like a much higher quality version of a mcmuffin • Hashbrowns were disgustingly good. Still thinking about them, were a bit greasy but so worth eating • Knowledgeable & friendly staff • Fast service • Pumpkin spice was nice • Orange one smoothie was definitely fresh • Luxury toiletries in the bathroom (Le labo!) That was well kept. × Cons: ° Strawberry shortcake was just okay, I personally couldn't actually taste much strawberry. Potentially as they used fresh so a more delicate flavour. It also wasnt topped with choc sauce as described. Would deff return overall!

Most unwelcoming man when we went into this coffee house sat down and went out he put me off was in the lever street store at weekend greeted by a friendly girl on the desk had a chat when she brought my coffee over nice food and drinks but am gonna avoid this one

Way over price for the food and breakfast. Sausages were served burnt. Coffee wasn't the best. 3 star for the service.

I visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning and really enjoyed the chilled out astrosphere, and the food and service was fantastic! The vegan breakfast is so good, and I'd strongly recommend the smoothies!

Came at 2pm on Saturday. Tried to order food but the kitchen was shut, ordered a filter coffee but there wasn’t any filter on, ordered a white hot chocolate which also wasn’t available.

The food is very tasty, they just don’t have as much variety, so I would recommend foundation for coffee and a snack rather than lunch. The service was fast and the staff were good. The coffee itself, the most important part, was EXCELLENT. genuinely had the best cup of coffee here

It’s a nice cafe but it’s extremely slow. I like to come here often but I sometimes avoid it because I know they take ages to make an Americano. The staff are lovely but just very slow. Especially when you come for a short break. 10 minutes to make an Americano when my break is only 15 minutes 🥲

Great little place with good food and coffee.

They started charging a 10% of your order if you sit down in the café. Why should I pay £4.40 for a hot drink when it's already expensive? Charging a 10% for sitting in defies the whole idea of café.

Used to be a nice place to go but if they have table service expect a wait. Sat there for 20 minutes today waiting to order while groups of staff chatted behind the counter. Ended up just leaving. Too loud to do any work too

Staff completely disinterested. Sat after waiting 10 minutes then noone came near me to take a food order. Coffee ordered via the (glitchy) took 20 to come. Place was half empty so not sure what was causing the delays and no service.

Pleasantly surprised at the toasted kale with the egg Benedict, fresh lightly salted w a hint of vinegar. The sourdough bread is fresh and the hollandaise sauce superb. Coffee has a rich aroma and not acidic.

Was greeted by staff with a smile, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. My coffee was served promptly despite it being rush hour 👍🏻 Will definitely visit again.

We had the best brunch on our visit to Manchester! Amy was really lovely and Yee made the most beautiful latte! They also serve some very tasty ice cream - would definitely recommend.

Favourite coffee in Manchester and the service and team are always friendly and great. Definitely recommend if you're around Piccadilly Gardens.

The distinct lack of desire to serve a good quality coffee is startling. Having to wait extra time to get a proper hot coffee cos they couldn't get it right the first time is unacceptable.

A lovely quick place for Lunch with an old colleague. Despite being mid week and over lunch, it was quite quiet - which we preferred! Food and coffee was great. My only dislike was the area was a little chilly given the outside weather.

Coffee was nice but poached eggs were undercooked. They apply service charge and request a tip on the card machine while ordering. But tables were dirty and had to ask to get it clean when my food arrived.

Gorgeous brunch cafe in central Manchester. Had delicious eggs royale on sourdough toast and a Vietnamese coffee. The staff were all attentive and a pleasant atmosphere.

After waiting 20 minutes for our breakfast, I went to ask how much longer it will take, as there was no customers (except for a few coffee drinkers working on laptops) and it seemed to be plenty of staff. I was told that my breakfast was ready ,but my partner’s wasn’t. And I was served a cold dry poached eggs on a smashed avocado toast. We asked for a refund and left. But we had no breakfast and we waisted half an hour. I do not recommend.

Nice coffee shop and quiet with plug sockets if you want to work. Also WiFi, Very central. The tea and service was nice.

Came a few weeks ago on a Saturday morning and managed to get a table. Relaxed atmosphere inside. Coffees were of a great quality and taste. Eggs on sourdough were delicious! Service decent too

I have an amazing time here, the service was great and the ambiance was just right. A beautiful picturesque cafe right in the centre of city. I definitely would stop by again. I had the best croissant 🥐 ever.

Beware - the prices are completely misleading. I ordered a hot chocolate on the basis of it costing £4 per the price board above the counter. Then got charged £5 because “the price board hasn’t been updated yet.” Pretty bad service from the management. The staff were apologetic and served a tasty hot chocolate but the experience was somewhat tainted

Weak coffee and sullen service. If you're selling average coffee do it with a smile please and a bit of customer contact.

They say that you should never eat at an establishment where the toilets are filthy. The food and coffee at foundation are great but didn't see the toilets until after. A DISGRACE! Floor swimming in urine, no loo paper or soap in the dispensers, a tub of pump action soap had been put out but was cakes in soap scum. The sink, dryer and existing dispensers were all covered in dust and smears. Clearly the loos hadn't been cleaned in about a week and I don't want to go into the state of the actual toilet. Let's just hope that the kitchen is not as bad. And a word for the young lad with the floppy hair working behind the counter, either wear a hair net or wash your hands after constantly running your hands through your hair!

Pretty average all round, I ordered poached eggs with bacon and I watched my meal sit on the service window for close to 15 minutes. It arrived stone cold. I ordered at about 9:10 and didn’t seem my cold food until 9:45 lol probs won’t be back.

Cafeteria con buenos productos para desayunar, almorzar… tienen una carta amplia de productos y el personal es increiblemente amable. Si hay algun problema, te lo solucionan con una sonrisa y al momento. Pd: la mantequilla de cacahuetes es casera y esta buenisima.

Excellent lunch. My Eggs Royale on sourdough toast were perfectly cooked with lashing of smoked salmon and a creamy Hollandaise sauce, but it was the chef’s own dill oil that lifted the dish from good to great.

Service a little slow when you're in a rush in a morning

Perfect Latte / cappuccino. Perfect micro foam and perfectly extracted espresso full of flavor, and the right balance of milk to coffee.

Came in for a simple breakfast with coffee. The latter was fine, the peached eggs on the other were pretty awful. Overdone, but the biggest issue was them tasting like they’d been poached in white vinegar.

Great food, ordered french toast and a salmon Benedict. The egg wasn't runny though the French toast was amazing. Coffee is great too. Would definitely recommend for food though not enough staff in the AM to service our table. The decor could be improved.

Came for brunch. I opted for the vegan breakfast without vegan sausages. I was given the option of a substitute so I opted for halloumi. My son had the French toast of course. Good service and not too busy for a Saturday morning. Food was tasty and a big generous plate of food. The French toast was very nice bit I would say a bit expensive.

My son told me about this place , whenever he visits Manchester we always go for a Spanish latte, I've even started going on my own when he's not here ,it's that nice , I've not tasted the food but it always looks nice from what I've seen , it's clean and staff are always friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

Don’t like how you can’t just get a paper menu. Very confusing on phone, stressful and what if someone’s phone died! Not impressed!

Wow….came to foundation for brunch. Incredible food, excellent vibe, beautiful service. The “eggs your way” breakfast was exceptional, Highly recommended coffee in the middle of town.

Had a really nice experience. Only stopped in for a quick drink while waiting for some friends. Had a dirty chai latte and my other half had a shake. Service was quick and the drinks were really nice!

I was looking for a non chain coffee/breakfast place near the hotel I was staying at. Foundation was just up the street, so I popped there. It was fairly busy, but not such a bad thing really as it shows people like it. I ordered an oat latte and a pain au chocolat as I couldn't see any other food on offer on the menu boards. Once sat down there was a menu with lots of tasty sounding dishes on, but never mind! Due to it being busy, there was a bit of a wait for the coffee to be brought to the table, but it's a nice atmosphere in there so no problem. The coffee was tasty, some people around me had some breakfasts delivered and they all looked delicious I must say.

The blonde barrista was a life saver whipping up the strongest coffe to get my hangover sorted

Phenomenal breakfast, perfectly poached eggs and that caper oil was👌🏼👌🏼 highly recommend!
