Forte's Cafe in Dundee City

Best fry up Iv had in a long time, I would visit Dundee just for this place.

Old style cafe. Famous for it's toasted rolls

Really enjoyed my visit here, had lorne and egg rolls, they were delicious.

Great wee café. Fantastic breakfast options. This is definitely a place to go if you enjoy good traditional brekkie like a scrambled egg & black pudding roll, bacon roll etc. Unfortunately no milk alternatives are available but the coffee is really good. The staff are superb; very polite, friendly and attentive. The café isn't suitable for small children

My father was friends with Philip Forte and the cafe has never been changed inside so most of the shop is the original design set up. Been going thee for 60 years and menu is mostly original. Very authentic experience toasted scrambled egg rolls are still amazing as ever. Ice drinks are superb. Well worth a visit for a cuppa milky coffee x

Great cafe! Lovely friendly staff and consistently delicious food. It's also quite nostalgic because of the sweetie shop. An excellent place for breakfast or lunch. The scrambled egg rolls are legendary.

Fantastic cafe. Old fashioned and ao much character. Their toasted rolls are famous. Popped in a few weeks ago for dome great ice cream.

Staff are amazing, food is excellent and great value for money.

An amazing little cafe, the friendliest staff and they really make you feel at home. An amazing selection of sweets and tasty ice cream flavours. I cannot reccomend their food enough, if you are visiting Dundee ylunhabe to go here.

Like stepping into the past unfortunately. Wanted a nice coffee but it was (genuinely) instant coffee that was used. Pretty run down toilets, and they don't accept card. Such a shame when you'd rather support a small local cafe, but they give you nescafe granules 🙈 Oh and no masks on staff...

Beautiful, authentic Italian cafe that serves the best breakfasts all day. Scrambled egg roll is amazing as is the coffees. If you’re in the area you have to visit here.

What can I say? 10/10 Black pudding and scrambled egg roll. 3 bits of black pudding and a great amount of scrambled egg. Way too much for me but amazing taste all the same Boyf got the scrambled egg roll. He loves them. UPDATE 18.09.21 The boyf and I have been coming here pretty much every Saturday. This week we decided we would mix it up and to go the polony route. I had polony and scrambled egg amd the boyf had black pudding and polony. Both rolls had 2 big bits of polony on them. The polony is good quality and lovely tasting and the 2 bits we both got we're thick cut. As usual the scrambled egg was amazing and the boyf cannot fault the black pudding. There is no doubt we will be back next week. The girls who work there are all really nice and friendly, always willing to have a wee conversation and nothing is too much of a hassle. Goes without saying. I will be back again next Saturday!!!

Always love popping into Fortes . A Dundee tradition. The coffees are superb. The scrambled egg on a toasted roll is fantastic. Staff are fantastic and so friendly.

We popped in as our daughter lives nearby. The wee 4 piece fry was lovely, toast was good, tea and coffee were hot and really nice. The 2 ladies working there were friendly and we can't wait to visit again.

My husband and I popped in for breakfast and had the 4 piece fry, with toast and tea for me, coffee for him. The black pudding was particularly good, the whole spread was really tasty. My husband loved his coffee, it was actually hot, not warm like most places. Will definitely be back the next time we're in Dundee.

Friendly staff, great range of breakfasts plated or in delicious rolls, freshly cooked and served promptly. On street parking and large car park nearby. Great confectionery range on the way out!!

Highly recommend a visit, will be back. :) :)

Top notch old school Scots Italian cafe, crackin filled rolls served toasted. Loose boiled sweets, ice cream, they even do a Coke float here. Good banter. Possibly the best coffee I've ever had, it's dynamite!

Love forte's very welcoming cafe great milky coffee and egg rolls, it's the last of the old style sweetie shop come cafe which was popular in Dundee, well worth a visit

Fantastic filled rolls(recommend bacon or scrambled egg that come on hot crispy rolls)and great coffee either sit in or takeaway.

Nice bacon and tea, good selection of sweets. Has a bit of character, which your typical multi national chain lacks.

The longest running Dundee cafe I can remember!! . And still the best scrabble egg 🥚 hot rolls 😋 😍.

Comfortable venue, good banter, decent menu. Remember to ask for a "cheese salad roll - special" What's "special"? You get cheese on it!!! Why have they not taken over the adjacent parking spaces for outdoor seating? It's been done in Perth Rd and in the Ferry?

One of the last Italian cafes left in Dundee where they still sell sweets from glass jars and make great breakfasts, hot and cold roll's and much more, Forte's have been here since the second world war with only two owners and just about the same set of customers. It's unique in a an area of Dundee that's reinventing itself through street art and a rosing sense of self and community. So if you want to get that Dundee in the 1950's feel get along to a neighborhood jem

Had coffees and bacon rolls here recently - very tasty fare and friendly staff. This cafe is really a trip down memory lane with its little booths and formica tables. Some great photos on the walls too. Grand place for a Saturday brunch.

I toddled into this old cafe today (near the friends whom with I am staying) because the chippie down the block was packed with school kids on lunch break. The place was absolutely delightful! Little booths and a big sandwich menu, I even had a mug of Bovril on the side. Coffee and frosted gingerbread for dessert! What a treat!

Best hot filled roll & coffee you'll get. Certainly font scrimp on the fillings. Staff always friendly and chatty. Love it in there for a wee pit stop when I'm in that neck of the woods.

Recommended to all , had a cheeseburger withon onions and i will tell u it tasted absolutely fabulous . Staff were nice and friendly and accommodating because the wheelchair couldn't fit the cafe , loads of options offered that was really nice.

Go here every year at Christmas to meet up with Dundee friends I haven't seen in ages. This is a good old fashioned place with tasty food that doesn't cost the earth.

Desperately seeking coffee on a Sunday morning we happened upon Fortes on Dura street. What a fabulous find. A real coffee shop with great hot rolls and a sweet shop and ice cream parlour in the front (still selling sweeties by the quarter❤). Service impeccablewith a nice personal touch of banter. Great prices too, we will definitely return.

Brilliant! If you are looking for a slice of traditional old Dundee then look no farther than Fortes. I've been going here for years and it hasn't changed a bit. The service is first class and the food great. It also has a lovely old style sweet shop which is a great touch. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
