The shop and cafe surroundings are really nice and the merchandise for sale is beautiful. We had lunch at the cafe, the food was ok but nothing special. Felt is was overpriced for the portion size and the coffee was really expensive.

Staff were pleasant but had to be prompted to take our order. When order arrived it was awful, the scones were so hard and overbaked that we could not cut into them easily, once we did manage to cut them they were stale so we left them on our plate. We were told we would not get a refund because we had already paid for the scones and only complained afterwards. The coffee was warm. We will never go back and certainly will not recommend the restaurant to anyone. To be avoided at all costs.

Lovely shop. Cafe was mid-week busy, we sat outside and our order was taken. Drinks arrived a little too late after scones. My cappuccino was the worst I’ve had. Too small ( tea cup sized) too watery , hardly any froth and too expensive at £3:80! Staff were pleasant.

Upon arriving my boyfriend and I were given a buzzer seeing as the cafe was so busy, being told a table should be available in 25min. 40min later our buzzer sounded and we were seated. However, this was only the start of the wait. Despite making the staff aware we were ready to order, another 40min of waiting ensured, as staff cleared tables around us. When being served we were told the kitchen was in-fact closed, and only after asking to see a manager along with other customers was our order taken. The staff seemed unbothered and unapologetic to our concerns. This is a real shame as it really did take away from a nice Saturday and what was some really nice food. However, not worth the wait!

Got a buzzer because busy but hung around and could see others going in while we waited!!!!! They had no tea!!!!! Really !!!!!!...we saw our coffee sitting on a tray for exactly 7 minutes before we got it and I asked for teaspoons which didn't come..... eventually I went and asked to be told they didn't have clean teaspoons and girl went on to serve someone else!!!!! I then eventually went back to ask for our cakes to be told 'i know'.....by this time we had sat with the cold bitter coffee 25minutes ....sponges were dry and cakes warm yuh Not a good experience....won't be back......some of your girls certainly didn't push themselves ... especially the one with hair in ponytail

We visited the Forest Cafe for what we thought would be a relaxing Sunday brunch. However, the noise of the staff making smoothies put paid to any chance of a relaxing time let alone being able to have a conversation. We were seated 5 tables away from the drink preparation area but the noise of the smoothie machine was still very loud. The food was good and a generous portion, no complaints about the food at all, just a shame we couldn't enjoy a chat while eating.

Really nice cafe, the food is always lovely at Treehouse, they have a great selection of breakfast and lunch options. The staff seem pleasant enough…however it can sometimes feel a bit unorganised and it’s often unclear who is in charge on the shift. The shop sells a really nice selection of things, it’s just a shame it’s always so cold…it puts you off browsing too long. The heating never seems to be on in the shop which is a bit ridiculous in Winter…not exactly welcoming and encouraging for customers to browse…

I'd like to take the opportunity of telling you how much we enjoyed the small scottish breakfast yesterday, sunday 27th November. We also went into the Cafe. Its back to being good again! We had the small Scottish Breakfast - delicious and cooked to perfection - back to how it used to be ! Cosy and warm in the Cafe and a lovely wee treat just prior to the christmas rush. Ive already written to the shop owners.

Visited here yesterday with a friend for a coffee and scone Coffee and cheese scone were delightful, however, it was so cold we had to keep our coats and scarves on..we may as well have been at the outside tables We were too cold to sit and chat like we usually do, so ventured for a ‘rake’ in the Christmas displays, both of us being huge Christmas fans….again so very cold, we could see our breath and couldn’t feel our hands. Unfortunately we had to leave without seeing very much. I feel for the staff working here…I hope their employers supply thermals for them. It used to be such a pleasant place to visit, log burners burning in the room displays etc..sorry but turning off the heating in November is going to put people off, it certainly put us off.

Three of us went for Brunch and we were pleasantly surprised with the shop area, the cafe was well laid out and the service was good and friendly. The pancakes were very disappointing for the price, the pancake “stack” was very small for £9.50 although there was a lot of bacon. The Nutlella and strawberry pancakes were also small, too heavy on the Nutella and very light on the strawberries! My egg & bacon roll was good and good value! The most disappointing part was the toilet, it was like walking into a totally different world, gone was the beautifully smelling diffusers, smart decor and accessories. They were quite simply, dirty and uncared for!

Visited here for their afternoon tea recently! The afternoon tea was stacked of both savoury and sweet items, and you can bring your own alcohol! Service and food was great

We have been to the treehouse (forest cafe) many times but today I took my good friend and it was hugely disappointing after I spent ages raving about the place beforehand. The kids menu was shockingly poor. Pancakes, a basic sandwich or sausage, beans and chips. We opted for the sausages and was told no when We asked to swap chips for veg. Her meal came within around 2 minutes. It was clearly a re-heat. I tasted a bit of the sausage and it was not nice. Needless to say most was left untouched. I ordered a knicker blocker glory (again, poor selection of sweet things). It was a little expensive at £6 something but I decided to treat myself. It came in a jar which made getting at the contents difficult and Looked like my daughter (age 2) had put it together. I wish I took a picture of it as it was quite funny (in hindsight). The fruit in it was mainly unripe melon and it clearly came out of a freezer. It was not nice and most was left. Probably due to my face, I was never asked once if my meal/experience was alright. All in all, terrible experience and I won’t be back (shame as I like the shop).

Went to the Forest Cafe and shop today for brunch with my partner, the food was fantastic and the service was very quick too, price was also very reasonable for what we ordered. The wee shop attached was interesting and was full of quirky ornaments inside.

Visited with my family of four and two dogs. Very Dog Friendly. The waiters we're excellent and very welcoming and friendly. Staff very kind and welcoming to both our dogs. Two of our group are gluten and dairy intolerant and were given a wide choice of what they could have. Will definitely be back

I visited the Forest Cafe for the first time with my family for breakfast. Lovely, comfortable restaurant the food and service was first class but all that was spoiled when I visited the loo. Firstly you were hit with the smell and then the revolting cubicles which were filthy. Hair and I don’t know what else around the rim of the toilet, thick dust and fluff on the skirting boards, no hook to hang my handbag and I certainly wasn’t going to put it on the floor which was wet and very grubby. Outside there was an old rusty piece of furniture with a roll of blue paper towels to dry your hands which was needed as there was no way I would have put my hands anywhere near the hand drier. It was absolutely revolting. I don’t think they had been cleaned in a very long time which is a real concern, especially during COVID. If I had visited the loo before I’d eaten I would not have stayed. I will not be returning due to this.

Right next to where we stayed this little cafe was calling out for us to get coffee and cake. The cake offering was very good with lots of choice and the same with the drinks. Both were delicious - however, the service was so slow due to there being one member of staff trying to manage everything with a queue forming outside and orders coming in on an app. There needs to be more people helping.

Stayed here for just 1 night while exploring Balmoral and the local area. Room was lovely with a stunning view over the Loch. Even had time to try the golf which was a nice little course. Found the owners to be nice and friendly. Would stay here again.

Went in for a quick take away ice cream for me and the kids. There were 2 young girls behind the counter. 1 person was paying for their sit down meal and a mum and push chair were at the ice cream. Seemed to be struggling with Apple Pay and took an age to serve the ice cream. The other staffer was making coffees. A queue started forming and the mum left. Unfortunately I was ignored and the person who just walked on got served. I walked out and got served instantly next door. Not the first time happened in there. I won’t be back
