Great fish and chips and excellent value for money. The portion sizes are also decent. Lovely quick service also.

I ate the cheese and onion and I have to say the batter was very tough and not that nice. I was honestly very surprised and disappointed with the quality. It will not stop me ordering food from you however if you’re not told then you don’t know. Also would it hurt your delivery driver to be nice, my son (who has done that job!) the driver just said CODE 😳 nothing else.

It states on app that it was delivered at 6pm it did not arrive until 6.40 pm! Food was only lukewarm when delivered.

Nice food, shame my delivery driver ate half of it, opened the box of large chips to see only a quarter of the box left. Not fontanas fault but maybe an anti tamper seal on the food would help

Loyal customer for over 2 years. Got served by new girl with candulas still on wrist. I always get large chips loose but got portion of small chips in a box. When I said they were not the size of large chips, she added one scoop of chips and charged me for another portion of small chips. Its a long walk down London Road to get to Fontanna's. NEVER AGAIN, best to stay with chipshops at the top end if town.

Food was tremendous, fish, chips and curry sauces were very high quality and the Cumberland sausage was one of the best I’ve eaten

the order stated the food would arrive at 6:25 but whenever that time would slowly arrive the delivery time changed, eventually coming at 6:45. the food was cold by the time it arrived and I had to head it up in the microwave. the taste of the food was good, but food itself being cold was disappointing

Food brill delivery driver useless. Rang didnt say who it was. Then knocking on neighbours house when numbers clearly visible. Had to go out and direct him to my house (terraced)!

Whenever I’m passing through Carlisle station, I always take the time to visit. Food is always excellent and the service was great on this visit. I was advised there would be a wait while they cooked me a cod, which was fine as it’s definitely better cooked fresh and it wasn’t a long wait anyway. The food did not disappoint, it was all fresh and tasty and for £7.80 for a ‘small’ (it was still a healthy portion) including a side of gravy it’s a very reasonable price. For similar quality and portions down in Yorkshire where I live you’d be talking easily over £10.

Local Fish and Chips Takeaway in Carlisle. Very clean, staff are polite and helpful. You can also phone and order a delivery to your home. I have not tried this service yet.

Service is disgustingly order was wrong I’ve spat more gravy than what was on my chips and when I’ve tried to ring them they have been constantly engaged even tho there app says they are NOT busy. Definitely do not order from here terrible service

There were 2 items missing, the food was awful, Luke warm at best. This is the worst meal from Fontanas that we have ever had delivered. Won’t be rushing for another meal for a long time.

What has happened to Fontanas Fish? Its gone from the best in the town to the worst since covid. After 2 previous visits, that to be honest the fish was very disappointing, we thought we’d give it one last chance. The fish was dry, thin, tasteless, very small portion, and overpriced, got put in the bin. It was by far the worst fish we’ve had. Feel sorry for the staff, as they were great. Chips were ok, can’t comment on the other items that they sell. It’s going to be the Fryery for us from now on, its back to our no1.for fish and chips in the town.

Fontana’s fish and chip shop was a find for us many years ago while travelling south of the border heading on holidays. When you see somewhere like this with a long (Zigzag) queue you can expect the grub to be good and it doesn’t disappoint. Stopped here last night after running an errand to Carlisle and had the fish and chips, more like a whale supper tbh. Portion of chips was enormous, loads under that fish, and too many for me to finish without being gluttonous. I like how they name the trawler the fish was caught from. Bit of a wait to be served about 10 minutes but worth the wait if you are calling. Oh, and only £7.50 cheaper than back home.

Picked up a chip tea on the way home, it was lovely. Delicious and well priced. Nice size portions as well. Always our fav place to visit!

The "Best Fish n Chips" in Carlisle, always fresh and delicious with lots of choice of other food if you don't eat fish, the staff are super friendly and its a great atmosphere which is good as there is usually a queue so a sure sign Fontana's is good and speaks for itself 👍

It's going downhill. Sometimes it feels like you are inconveniencing the staff. A bit like they can't wait to shut. It's all cleaned up and ready to go home if you call after 8pm which isn't late for a chip shop. Place is always clean and food is generally good quality. Lots of just eat or uber drivers now maybe yhey don't need walk in customers now.

Took fifteen minutes from food given to driver, it's only a 4 minute journey from were shop is to my home , batter soggy
