Fongs Fish Chip Shop in Liverpool

What's happened to Fongs? The past good while now it's gone down hill! It was my chippy for the past 23 yeara. Now even the old faithful sweet and sour chicken (Hong kong style) has gone rubbish aswell! They've changed the chicken to presumably cheaper chewy hard pieces instead of the usual chicken they used to have. The chips are like scraps! They have been for ages tbh Get a new way of cutting the chips and return fongs to the better days, have they changed the chef too? Don't think we will be coming back. Sadly

Ordered King Prawn black bean sauce and was given the smallest Prawns ever. Phoned up to complain and she said we'd ofdered the wrong thing. Either way the food was poor and I won't be using there again.

Best Chinese chippy we ever had. Our go to place for a good takeaway. Only issue is they don’t take card but there is an atm nearby

Never again, not been thought would give it ago, Friday about 6pm used to be queuing out the door i was the only on in there, now i know why. Won't be going back.

Worst meal since I had my last worst meal here, why did Zi go back? Good question, my husband went out for it. I usually order curry beef but since Sue , the previous owner left you order curry beef and receive curried onions! only a few bits of beef but loads and loads and loads of onions so I said “No more” . Just tonight ordered chillie beef &rice , looked ok, beef tasted fine but then I tasted something rotten, the carrots and green peppers were bad. OMG how long have they had them to taste soooo bad. I spat them out and stupidly took a mouthful of boiled rice but all I could taste was……..fish! It all went in the bin and the loo. I will NEVER EVER go there again. Disgusting.

Lovely food and massive portions for the price. King Prawn Udon noodle was really nice. Special find rice was good too. Will definitely be going back.

First and last visit. Fish was cremated and inedible.

Been a couple of times in the afternoon, each time the chips have been warm ups, nearly broke a tooth getting through them.

Egg fried rice can't be beaten :)

Unfortunately I Just checked the ' Scoresonthedoors.org.uk Food Hygiene website! Which is for checking how many Stars on Food Hygiene/Cleanliness for any take away/ restaurants have, They Have on!y Rated this place ( 4 Stars ) so not as clean as it could be! so I will Not be eating from here only 5 Stars on Hygiene take away / chippy for me! as its not that hard to get all the 5 stars required.They must be doing something wrong to not get all 5 Stars as its so easy to get a 5 star rating I know as I worked in catering.

Best fish and chips around shame they don't deliver

Salt and pepper chicken wings were horrendous just crispy wings with chilli sauce on an a few peppers. Would give it another try but defo wont be gettin wings again

Every time I visit Liverpool from Bradford I have to get a special fried rice from Fongs . It's better than anything I've had in Yorkshire . Top food .

No vegan options, pretty disappointing in 2020.

This chippy has just served me the chips of my dreams, possibly the nicest chips I've ever had and the fish cake was most definitely the best ever. I'm in heaven. You know when you fancy some chips and you imagine what they'll taste like but when you get them, they're just horrible? Put all those disappointing chippy nightmares behind you and get yourself down to Fong's. You'll deffo be back.

Always popular this place, very busy, but they're quick at serving so you're never usually waiting longer than about 15 minutes, never had a problem with the food here so would always use whenever passing and hungry.

Nice little local chippy! They know my little night order when I go in and the staff are friendly and listen to any specifics I ask for. Food is always piping hot. Made to order. The only thing i can moan about really is the amount of char sui you get on a char sui barm. There is more onion than meat. And they should add some sauce as that would make it much more enjoyable also.

Nice food when I've been. It's my go to safe option.
