Flying Fish in Sheffield

Not as good as it used to be a few years ago, no flavour in the chips or batter anymore, it's OK for a quick visit.

Really nice chip shop. Kebabs very nice and fresh. Excellent service. Good prices. Well worth a visit. Probably one of the best Kebabs in Sheffield.

Amazing food - just tried chicken gyros which was absolutely delicious and fresh definitely going to be have them on the regular! Couldn’t have asked for more and very good value for money! Got loads couldn’t even eat it all.

Wow, chips, cold, we only live two streets away, and I may be wrong, but to me they tasted like they had been reheated or kept warm for a long time!! The mixed gyros was terrible, the doner, why you would put doner in a gyros is beyond me, but I went with it, was cold, greasy and full of bones!! About 5 I counted. The chicken was dry and tasteless, best bit was the salad and tatziki. The fish was dry, cold and the batter was soggy/undercooked!! Really really poor, shame because this used to be a nice place. Hate complaining but with so much wrong why would anyone waste their time and money. Very dissapointing, staff were nice and friendly and the price wasn't bad to be honest but I would prefer a higher price for better quality. Sorry guys!!

Food was shocking, looked mega busy so thought it was gunna be nice, but unfortunately the chips were stone cold bland and not even cooked might as well have eaten a raw potato 🤢I asked them to COVER IT in salt and vinegar…they forget my sausage and the only hot and nice thing was the rissole. Pathetic for 10.80 chippy New owners need to learn how to cook chips and stop serving cold hard and rubbery chips.

Sadly, by the time we'd got home a few miles away, our fish and chips were going cold so into the oven they went and tasted all the better for a crispier fish batter. Immaculately clean inside the chippy, food fried in vegetable oil not dripping, serving staff work hard to give a good, if slightly expensive meal. Worth the money.

Been going here along time. Asked for 2 pies got told no steak and kidney so got 2 other. Medium fish looked all dried out so asked for a large lad serving said we have medium quite rude mubbling then saying you'll have to wait. I asked if it was too much trouble I would happily go elsewhere. Then fish person said they had pies in the back.Will think twice about going back

Gone down hill. Used to be a nice chippy. Got home & chips were scabby & scallop was just batter. Can't fault the fish.

I ordered pie chips and beans, and I couldn’t eat any of it especially the pie as it was all burnt and rock hard

Very friendly and spotless place my only issue is the bloody queue which tells you just what people think of this chippy.

Best finish an chip shop in area Oct 2023 Just tried one of their new Greek mixed kebabs. Absolutely amazing full of flavour etc highly recommend trying one yourselves.

Just tried after the new ownership . the fish and chips was really good and the batter was lovely but although the pea's tasted OK they was very watery

Well it was our first time going to the chippy me and my partner and the fish and chips special with mushy peas for My pre birthday dinner and I've got to say the meal was absalutly really nice .well the weekend after I treated my family we had 4 fish and chips specials but one with curry sauce instead of mushy peas and my son had kebab meat and chips special we wasn't disappointed it was great service and great tasty food again we'll be definitely coming back again well with the money as well and the portions are just enough .xxx

A good chippy, had fish and chips on two occasions lately, it's haddock here (even though it just says 'fish' on the menu I asked). The large fish is a good fish and the chips are nice as well. However there is a bad aftertaste with the batter on the fish which is a shame to be honest, the batter is thin and not too much of it and I prefer that amount but like I said a funny aftertaste and have to have something sweet after to take the taste away. Hopefully they will change it.

Good food but quite a bit pricey and the portions have shrunk a bit .

NOT a traditional British fish shop. This place does burgera pizza and a wide range of Eastern European dishes. Clean and friendly staff who speak good English.

Excellent fish and chips, if you live in this area avoid all others, I’ve tried them all. Regular order would usually include a Large Cod and chips and it’s worth every penny. The staff are friendly and inviting and the premises are always sparkling clean. If your going on a Friday or Saturday night I would call them to pre-order things like a Large cod which are only cooked to order (very reassuring)

Lovely fish and chips, tasty mushy and good sized portions. The fish batter was a little bit too thick and oily for my liking, I prefer a good light batter. The fish was really good though and the chips didn't taste too oily like "chippy" chips can sometimes. Overall, excellent chip shop and I'll be visiting again.

I would of give you a 5 star but when I got home there was no fish in my fish and chips special so I paid £4.90 just for chips and peas. I 2ill not be coming back at all fuming is not the word

they really need to sort their portion control out... prices go up and portion size goes down. thought they would realise that by now that there are enough chip shops around to go else where... Jacks Plaice for me in future

Beautiful cod and chips, just like the old days, everything is fresh and the shop is very clean. Always busy, which is a good sign. Would definitely recommend. Enjoy people.

Food here is reasonably priced and tasty...chips and fish particularly...my only grip is I wish the management would retrain their staff to ask customers if they want salt and vinegar and if you want the fish wrapped separately...been here twice now and both times they had to unwrap it to sort this out! For me being asked should be a given....that all said I love the fact they are using paper bags and doing their bit for the environment...so well done on that :)

A friend introduced me to this place. A traditional fish and chips shop. The fish is well cooked and the chips are plenty. I recommend others to give it a go.
