Mainly pizzas, all good quality

We always enjoy Florenas and visit fairly often/order takeaway from here however the chef Jack made our recent visit a memorable one. He was so engaging with our son and helped him make his own pizza which he absolutely loved. All the food was great as always but special thanks go to Jack for being such a great asset to the Florenas team and making our little lads evening

Excellent little restaurant in Howden. Pizza is always top notch, but the standout for me was the antipasti board - honestly the best I’ve had outside of Italy.

Turned up on a whim on friday night on the way back from visiting some family and the kids were starving. Initially we were told that there wasn’t space for us but a waitress Alex kindly sat us down and made us feel very welcome. Our girls ordered kids sized pizzas and they came shaped as hearts! they loved it. Would highly recommend but would definitely book upon returning as it is a busy little place. The food was excellent and the staff were so helpful.

Just what the mind & body needed after donating an armful of blood at Howden School. Offered a pleasing vegetarian & vegan variety on the menu. Great staff, nice chef, pleasant atmosphere. We will be back & I'm not telling anyone about it! It’s our secret ‘go to’ restaurant for just ourselves.

Excellent place to go for a meal...

We had pre-booked our table & arrived a little early. The table wasn’t ready so we were invited to pop next door for a drink in Romeos bar owned by Florenas. We were greeted by a friendly lady & we had a couple of drinks as our table was delayed. We were kept informed by Alex from the restaurant who came through to check on us & even asked if either of us were wanting to order the lasagne as they were running out & she would save us a portion. We had the calamari, spinach & ricotta arancini balls & pizza which were all delicious. We loved our meal & the service we received. Thank you team Florenas 😀

Amazing 🤩. Staff were so friendly and the food was outstanding pizzas were out of this world it was an amazing place with such a good vibe it really felt like I was in Italy and it was surprisingly cheap because of how much food we got and the quality of the food. really enjoyed and I would absolutely recommend visiting.

Started the evening having cocktails , then ate in the restaurant. Service excellent and staff in the bar and restaurant so friendly and helpful. Fab birthday celebrations with great food. Nothing too much trouble for Giuseppe helping us to have a fabulous night.

What a nice place to drink & eat… Great Calamari starter followed by awesome and I mean awesome pizza. Top flavour, top staff and reasonable (don’t want to go too mad ‘cos I’m from Yorkshire) prices. Stunning….eat here, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a lovely meal here recently. A very nice setting and food was excellent.

The staff was excellent. Not sure what her name was, but she was very friendly and helpful. Recommended some of the pizzas. You can tell their speciality is pizza and.... Pizza. There is not much variety in food. I can't complain though, it wasn't a bad pizza but can't say it was the best i've ever had. Felt a little bit over dressed as I think it is more of a "lets hang out in a hoodie" kind of place instead of a "lets go on a date here" kind of place. There is no option to leave a tip if you pay by card, which is not a very good thing for their employees.

Everything from start to finish was excellent. Food was the best we have ever had. Came with our friend who is a regular (Gill) and will definitely be back soon.

Last minute decision to meet friends in Howden who recommended cocktails in Romeo’s followed by pizza in Florena’s. ‘Best pizza in the whole of Yorkshire’ was their ambitious claim. Oh my days they weren’t wrong! The pizza base was the BEST - non-doughy with the perfect amount of bite and the topping was absolutely FULL. I left 3 pieces (which is unheard of for me!) which they happily placed in a take home box for me. My daughter is VERY coeliac and the utmost care was taken to ensure her GF pizza wasn’t contaminated. They even went to the trouble of baking her a GF garlic bread to go with the mixed platter we had as our starter. It wasn’t just the pizza that was great, this quaint little restaurant feels like it’s taken a little bit of Italy and placed it right here in the heart of Yorkshire. The ambience is perfect with Friday night energy at every rustic dimly lit table - all in full view of the incredible pizza oven (it’s massive!) Great wine, super friendly staff and that all important family feel you want from a traditional Italian restaurant. For get your big chains - THIS is a little bit of real Italy and the pizza really was the best in Yorkshire. A must if you’re anywhere near Howden and if you’re not hear Howden - it’s worth the drive there anyway! :0)

Really nice pizza, but they got my order wrong twice. They did sort everything out at the end, but it seemed a bit strange that both the drink and the main course didn't reflect what I ordered.

Good food good prices and good staff

Lovely little Italian restaurant, limited space but accommodated us non the less, lovely service and food - only issue was a forgotten lasagna.

Is there a reason to visit Howden? Yes and it's called Florena's Pizza restaurant. Food very good. Calamari excellent and the four cheese pizza the best I have ever had. The pizza bases are just wonderful. Puddings, if you have room, are worth the calories. We visited on a Tuesday evening so unfortunately the Romeo's bar was closed. However the wine list seems to chosen with some care and our bottle if prosecco hit the spot.

Summary - a very good Italian restaurant in Howden. Food is fantastic but it’s a little pricey and the service is a bit hit and miss. We went there with a couple of friend for a table at 6pm and the first thing we were told was that it was needed back for 7:15pm. As we had booked this was a little strange. Service was good though food was a little slow and it’s fair to say that we were not finished by 7:15 pm though nothing was said. Food was really good. And I mean really good.

If it's a pizza 🍕 place you want, this is it. Beautiful location, amazing food, and great atmosphere. Staff were really lovely and more than deserved their tip. Rounded it off with drinks at the bar conveniently located right next door for a fabulous night with friends. Forza Florena!

As of July 29, 2023 this restaurant no longer offers takeaway. The waitress advised us that they do, but then the chef overuled her. They didn't ask when we wanted the order, they just do not offer it. Bit disappointed after saving ourselves all day for a fine local pizza takeaway whilst staying in Howden,(we had a dog and therefore not welcome in the restaurant). Poor communication between staff. It's a nice restaurant to sit in but if you have a dog or want takeaway, bypass this place, and ignore previous comments that suggest this place offers takeaway.

Great antipasti & pizzas. Only negative is it's very tightly packed.

We had a very nice evening here. There were five of us, we sat three on one side and two on the other side of the table & nobody was cramped. We all had various pizzas and all really enjoyed our meal. The pizza is huge (a bit too much for one, but we all ate the full thing even so). When I next go I will have half a pizza shared with another and chips and salad rather than a huge pizza. My pizza, a desert, and two bottles of Peroni cost just over £30. We went on a Friday evening and it was quite full so I’d recommend you book in advance . Next door is a cocktail bar, you can if you want but drinks in there and take them into Florena’s.

Had drinks at Romeo’s next door then dinner at Florena’s. Busy place and a great atmosphere for a Friday night. Started with a meat and cheese platter to share - amazing meats and would go back just for that. Half the table (5 of us) were almost full from the starters. Good pizza’s, wood fire ovens give a great taste to the dough. How wine was great value but the wine list was limited on choice - everything else was quite high end. Would certainly recommend and go back.

We’ve used Florenas several times and never disappointed so I booked my 70th birthday party there Saturday 15th for 12 people. On arrival we were greeted in the usually pleasant way and shown to our table, the drinks came very swiftly and we ordered our food which came without delay, the food was as usual, very tasty and well presented in fact it was delicious. The staff were very attentive and were very professional in every way. The whole evening was exceptionally good and my guests who had never dined there before were overjoyed. To sum up first class food, staff and atmosphere. Thank you Florenas

Recently four of us found ourselves here on a busy Saturday night after another local Italian had power problems. We managed to book a table at 30 minutes notice,and when we arrived staff were very welcoming and attentive. We tried the meat sharing platter also the cheese sharing platter as starters and these were massive and packed with garlic breads/olives and lots of tasty Italian meats and cheeses. These really could have been a main,they were so full and filling. Three of us had the beautifully fresh pizza whilst one of the party had lasagne. Everything was so fresh and delicious and we were so glad we ended up atthis little gem. From the outside the place looks quite small,however once inside has an upstairs too. Really enjoyed our experience here...........thankyou.

We visited Florena’s for the first time this evening after hearing wonderful reviews from other locals. We were not disappointed, the restaurant was spotless, the pizzas were divine and the drinks were delicious. The service was excellent too. We will definitely be back soon.

Πολύ καλό περιβάλλον, απλό και προσιτό. Για αρχή πήραμε πιατέλα αλλαντικών για 2 άτομα με λιαστές ντομάτες και ψωμί ξερό ψημένο στο φούρνο και μπρουσκετες. Πάρα πολύ νοστιμα πιάτα και τα δύο αλλά ήθελα παραπάνω μορταδελλα. Συνεχίσαμε με 2 πίτσες, και μελιτζάνα παρμεζάνα για κυρίως πιάτα. Με την μελιτζάνα δάκρυσα. Θυμήθηκα παλιές ωραίες εποχές. Οι πίτσες θα μπορούσαν να είχαν λίγο παραπάνω ποσότητα υλικών, αλλά αυτό είναι κάτι προς συζήτηση. Τελειώσαμε και το φαγητό και γενικώς με τρία γλυκά. Προφιτερολ, λεμοντσελο και καραμελ. Πάρα πολύ καλή ποσότητα κι εδώ στα γλυκά και πολύ όμορφη παρουσίαση. 4 Κόκα κόλα, 4 μπύρες pint,, και 3 σφινακια λεμοντσελο, όπως πρέπει λίγο πικρό. 100 λιροπουλα, 2 άτομα..... Τίμια πράγματα. Καθολου βαρύ φαγητό, τουλάχιστον αυτά που καταφέραμε. Τα υπόλοιπα πακέτο. Προσωπικό, αρκετά εξυπηρετικό για Αγγλία, τυπικό. Neutral. 👍

A hidden gem! We had our first visit here last night and it was lovely! Cosy restaurant and nice atmosphere. The pizzas are amazing and the staff are so polite and friendly. Drinks came out fast and the food was quick too. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great first visit.

Recommended! A seriously nice experience, really nice place with bags of atmosphere. The food was really top notch the and huge servings of it. Prices were crazy cheap for somthing of this quality, The chief was singing along to the Italian radio station which was great. Even the serving staff were really helpful and amazing. A great package! Will be back, can't believe its so close to us in Howden. Update: been 10 times are this point and its still fantastic!

The best pizza we’ve ever had! We visited on a busy Saturday evening and we were greeted with smiley faces on the door and promptly shown to our table. Nothing was too much trouble for Giuseppe and his team. I’m vegan and he went above and beyond accommodating this, making sure I had a wide variety of options. We all ordered pizza and it was delicious! We live in Manchester City centre and have been to lots of pizza restaurants and it’s safe to say the pizza here was the best we’ve ever had, topping ‘Rudys’ and even ‘San Carlo’! The prices, portion sizes and options are great (they even boxed up our leftovers to enjoy later!). We will absolutely be returning when we are in the area. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A restaurant with limited menu.... majority is pizza. However I'll take a small menu done well over a large menu done half hearted. Will go again 100%

Disappointing meal and service. The food came out quickly but the service from the waiting staff was slow and they were clearly distracted in spite of the fact, there were 2 staff, waiting just 3 tables. They cleared our dessert plates at 19:10 and we asked for the bill. At 19:35 they eventually came to us and asked if we'd decided to have dessert??? We explained we'd finished our dessert almost half an hour ago and were waiting for our bill. Then when we paid, they almost forgot to take half of the money. We'd have got away with only one of us paying if we hadn't spoken up. The food was tasty but it was a shame the lasagne wasn't fresh and was topped with dried mixed herbs and dripping in an oil slick from the cheese grilled on top. Although the cheesecake was fresh, who tops cheesecake in buttercream and serves passion fruit cheesecake on top of caramel sauce? And the fried bread stick and Nutella dipping dessert was monstrously huge, over facing and unpleasantly salty. Everything was so average apart from the courgette fries which were yummy and actually bumped them up from 2.5 stars, to 3.

We found this friendly Itlian restaurant by chance. The food was really good and there was a great atmosphere. If we lived nearby we would be regulars!

Pizza is very nice. Our starter was cold in the middle, which they replaced quickly. Service could be a little better, we were upstairs and felt like we had been forgotten about at the end. Other than that a good spot and will be returning

Only one word needed... Fantastic! Only passing through Howden whilst cycling the Transpennine Trail and dropped on this gem of restaurant. Without doubt the best Italian meal I've had! Authentic, delicious and generous portions. The owner (who was also our chef on the evening) was great. We were the last customers of the night both arriving and leaving late but we were made welcome and received impeccable service from everyone. Although I'm not local I would not hesitate in traveling the 50 miles from home to have another meal here. Thank you.

Called in as staying local for weekend and my word, wish he was in my town. My pizza was best one I’ve ever had! Hands down amazing. Smelt amazing and tasted better.

First time we went there on our date night and we were well impressed. We had a meat platter to start with and it mouth watering, and pizzas just take you on a trip to Italy, hand made and you just can't stop smiling they're that tasty. Warm and cosy inside and I felt like I've just been to an Italian pizzeria Definitely going back again :)

Me and my girlfriend came to Howden from Birmingham for a weekend away and we had an amazing meal - best place we went to during our stay. We had the calbreeze and speciale. Joe was the chef and we thanked him for the pizza. We wouldn't usually do so but we had to this time. 100% recommend.

Nice local pizzeria. Would definitely visit again. There’s some room for improvement though, the table we sat at felt very sticky, and the labeling on the menu for vegetarian dishes was a bit wonky - eg pizza with anchovies marked as veggie, while loads of vegetarian friendly starters etc left out.

Can you imagine a world class pizza in a town like Howden? Now you don't have even to try, because it's right there. In my opinion it's the best pizza around here, probably in top10 in UK, my personal it's a number one. delicious food and very friendly staff. We will be returning. And I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you want to buy any pizza takeaway from different places around here, try Florenas. Price is very similar, but taste totally different!

It was an absolutely lovely experience with such nice staff, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and make our son laugh every time the walked past. The food is extremely tasty, and very big portions, we even had to take some food back home. We will defonatly be visiting again :)
