We visited this restaurant as a party of 9 for the first time this weekend for a family meal for my husband's birthday. The choice of food is extensive, and all meals were amazing. The service is what makes this place stand out, it was absolutely exceptional. the staff went above and beyond on numerous occasions to ensure we all had anything we requested. This place is a little hidden gem, definitely worth a visit and we will 100% be returning!

This restaurant is worth driving 20 miles for. We love Turkish food and in our opinion, the food here is the best Turkish around. The food is all cooked on the premises, freshly baked bread, baba ganoush, everything. The portions are massive and today I asked for my food to be parcelled up to take home. The whole place is clean and well appointed. The staff are excellent.

This is our most favourite restaurant by far. From the amazingly tasty and traditional Turkish food to the wonderful staff. We have just got home and feel totally content. Fabulously tasty food which is cooked to the highest standard and then Kerry always treats us like we are so special. She gives us her full attention from the minute we enter till we leave. This restaurant is the best Turkish restaurant by far. Well done guys.

I cannot speak highly enough of The grill on The Cross. From the moment I spoke to somebody to make our reservation until the moment we left the restaurant everything was impeccable. We are unable to visit as frequently as we would like but, by far and large The Grill on The Cross is our favourite restaurant in Lymm. We are made to feel valued and special and the staff go out of their way in every respect to make this so. Began was the lady who predominately looked after us on Sunday and she remembers my specific dietary requirements so there is never any hassle neither do I feel awkward. I had the Chicken Shish -the meat was so tender, juicy and tasty as was the chicken, lamb and minced lamb skewer my husband had. All the meat was truly melt in the mouth. We didn't want the meal to end. However, on our departure ( it being Father's Day) my husband was given a complimentary Peroni and glass - another kind gesture. Throughout the meal in a very nice manner, we were asked if everything was to our liking and/to if we needed anything else. We will return the very next time we go out for a meal in Lymm. Food was well presented, generous and tasty. Chef is charismatic and adds to the experience. Service was welcoming and attentive.

Visited on a Saturday evening, seated very quick and orders taken quick. We ordered 4 drinks but it took 25mins to fulfil the drinks order even thou the place was empty, this seem to set the president all evening. Service was very poor and felt for our waiter in this instants as the management let him down. On a good point the food was good and may go back if I hear of service improvements. These have stiff competition in Lymm and need to step up. I did speak to the manager but they blamed new staff …. Managers should manage! Not blame new starters

My partner booked the restaurant for my birthday as a surprise… the staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially Bilgen. The food was amazing and very fresh! The atmosphere was brilliant. They brought balloons and sang happy birthday, most of the restaurant joined in too! We were given complimentary shots. We will definitely be back soon

My good lady wife and I visited early yesterday evening. Examined the menu and made our choices. We both shared a hot meze starter. It was a joy to look at and even better to eat. For main course I had lamb shish, my wife the chicken. The lamb was beautifullly cooked and the chicken moist and really flavoursome. The dishes were generous in size and creatively presented. Our serving lady was friendly and helpful. All in all a very pleasant meal.

Had dinner here last night (Tuesday) We were warmly welcomed by a young gentleman, I think his name was Harvey. We were given a lovely table by the window, great for people watching. Both staff were very friendly, attentive and organised. Always made sure that we were ok for drinks and checked that we were happy with the food. The young lady answered any queries we had about the menu which helped us choose. I finally settle on Chicken Iskander and my partner had chicken shish. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Full of flavour. This was our first time. We will definitely be returning.

Grill on the cross used to have it all. Excellent food, great atmosphere, engaged customer service (recommendations, quick to help and look after you), reasonable prices. Used to love this restaurant. So much so I bought a gift voucher for my sister and insisted she MUST try it out...December 2019. As we all know by now, everything shut down 3 months later in March due to the global pandemic. Grill on the cross advertised their delivery service in this time and we partook in lieu of a night out which was no longer possible. The food was still restaurant quality and delivered exceptionally fast - we continued to rave about it to friends. My sister tried to use the voucher on a takeaway and was told they wouldn't honour it for a takeaway (even though this was the only option at this point, but fair enough). We saw a few months ago that they have expanded to open a restaurant in Warrington and this week I saw an article on one of the lymm online pages, advertising the fact that the lymm one has had a refurb. Going out for a meal isn't always as appealing in post covid life and with rising bills across the board, becoming less of an option. But after a few tough weeks, I decided to make the trip back to this restaurant, and my sister gave me the voucher back to see if they'd honour it given the unprecidented reason she wasn't able to use it. I liked the new decor and the food itself was absolutely beautiful - though the platter we had, had almost doubled in price. For most of the evening, the restaurant was only about half full despite being a Saturday evening. We ordered another beer part way through our mains and asked again after waiting 25 minutes - the young waitress gasped and rushed over to the bar. It only got busy in the last half hour we were there and this is when the young staff started to put on pressure for us to leave 'not to rush you but would you like dessert' she returned whilst my partner had visited the facilities 'can I take some of your empty glasses?' Then proceeded to take glasses with drinks still in them! I'm sure you can guess what is coming, but we asked if it would be possible to use the voucher given the circumstances (I expected it to cover a year but it was only 6 months) and she said she would ask management. A different lady returned to us -not apologetic, but laughing saying it expired in 2019 (nope. We bought it 19.12.19) but alas it had expired and we had accepted we might have lost our money on this gift voucher,.. but they were so unapologetic and harsh about it, actually laughing in our faces infact, I can't see us ever returning and as we once raved about it to friends and family.....we have a different story to tell them about this place now.

I heard this place had been sold. Which unfortunately has pros & cons. This is unfortunate as this place was one of our all-time favorite local restaurants which we have been going to for many years but not anymore. The new owners have redecorated which looks ok. Unfortunately, they have replaced the comfortable chairs with uncomfortable rock hard wooden chairs which is a management trick so people won't overstay which is a negative strategy considering they are not as popular as Elma's restaurant which is right opposite & always popular & doest cost as much as this place. On a plus point, the quality of the food has remained the same & put linen table clothes on. The biggest negative for me they have upped the price on many of the popular dishes. Eg the early bird menu now finishes at 6 pm & was £14.90 now £20.00 but have increased the portion size which now is too much to eat. We had something called Lux Izgura which is a Turkish meat feast that was £35.00 for two people to share & it was first class & full of authentic flavors. Now for the same dish is £49.50. I realize the cost of food & commodities has risen sharply recently however a £14.50 increase isn't going to attract too many people to your place. Also, their Turkish bread was complementary now is £1.50. Ok, you may argue that Lymm has many wealthy people living in & around but not everybody is wealthy where the price increase might not bother them & most people focus on how much the bill is going to be. Plus if you take into account that Lymm is not short of good restaurants. It took the original owners many years to attract a loyal fan base that is most likely going to be destroyed in no time once the word gets out. They are still doing a takeaway service but the prices are the same as they would be in the restaurant, another negative strategy. Message to the new owners who may read this. Before I retired I spent 41 years in catering & had two restaurants. This new strategy of yours is unlikely to be popular especially as you are currently struggling to attract people to your restaurant. Point. In the hour we sat in your restaurant last night only 6 people came in from 7 to 8 pm on a normal Thursday evening which isn't enough for you to maintain & sustain a living. The street menu has the old prices on & represents a misrepresentation of the true cost unless this is another ploy of the new management on the grounds that once people sit down & realize the price increase they are unlikely to leave? Lastly, we won't be returning anytime soon because there are many other restaurants nearby that offer much better value for a meal out. Your call.

My partner and I visited after seeing this restaurant on Instagram. We love Turkish food as I was brought up on it. This is probably the best Turkish restaurant I have ever been to. The lamb & hummus starter was stunning, as was the sucuk and borek. The lamb chops were honestly the tastiest I’ve ever had in my life. All of the food we ate was delicious and well presented. The staff were really attentive and friendly and the place was spotless. We will definitely be back.

The food was very delicious and the portions generous. The prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was convenient, next door to a carpark. We were seated by the window, which offered nice views of Lymm.

Nine of us went to celebrate a birthday, having picked the restaurant ‘out of the blue’, we found a warm welcome with extremely helpful staff. The menu had many dishes that were new to us and, without exception, they were all voted excellent. The lamb...

Took the family out for lunch, we were greeted with welcoming smiles and a Covid greeting. The lunch menu was still extensive, and all the food sounded delicious. We had starters and mains, and the portions were a good size, so much so that we decided to take some of it home with us, rather than filling up too much.The service was great, and our hosts were very attentive, only clearing the table when necessary. I would definitely recommend taking a trip out to Lymm, the town has great atmosphere, and the people are friendly.

Had a lovely meal recently at Grill on the Cross. Tables slightly near each other to our liking. All staff using PPE but not (who I presume) is the owner as he was walking around talking to customers with his mask under his chin during the time that we were there. Also not sure that it needed three members of staff to clear out plates. Music was very loud which caused problems hearing members of our family. Overall a nice evening, but we won't be returning.

management useless didn't want to accommodate but did not refuse to use that table all night. upon questioning and asking for a refund having been offered something to move was told tuff.Food ok but service not at its best. Health hazard at best leaky air con units in the restaurant not acceptable should be shut down...... they were not interested in the fact that this can lead to legionnaires disease obvs fatal.....Never go back.. said it may be looked at tomorrow......

Excellent food cooked to order, superb taste and wonderful friendly service. We had the mixed meat plate which was more than enough for two people.

After the long Lockdown we’ve started going out to restaurants to enjoy the tastes we missed so muchWe stopped at the Grill on the cross and absolutely loved it From the starters of Baba Ghanoush, Falafel and Humous There’s no doubt that the mains were the winners of the meal with the Chicken Shish being well spiced and well cooked and the Adana was nicely done as wellWe’ve enjoyed the dinner

Throughout lockdown we have fantasised about returning here. Tonight we managed it. We loved the food, as always and the menu was not too much changed since our last visit. Fantastic Turkish dishes all served beautifully. The staff were reassuring in their social distancing and PPE, but still friendly and attentive. There were many other people there, but everyone table was all in their own marked space, perfectly distanced but not remote. The food was amazing. Thanks for a little bit of new normal that was buzzing and very welcome. Also Mon/Tue /Wed are currently covered by the ‘Eat out to help out’ scheme. We will be back.

Fantastic restaurant in the middle of lymm village. Food it’s great at a reasonable price! Grey for family’s would fully recommend. Traditional Turkish breakfast is amazing! All staff very friendly.

Enjoyed a fabulous takeaway meal from the Grill on the Cross at the weekend. Food was just as tasty as always and as usual Onur looked after us very well. If you fancy a break from cooking consider this option - you can have a very healthy meal without having to cook it yourself. Beautiful cooked on the turkish barbeque. Highly recommended.

We ordered a take away this evening for the family to cheer us all up. The mix grill we ordered was £12, the meat was lovely, however this is what we received. I personally feel this portion size is not worth £12. After trying to explain our dissatisfaction, we were told this is the same they normally sell with sauce. Again, the food itself was lovely, our only complaint is the portion size. *No sauces were given either, which may have added a little to price*

First time here recently with great friends. Sat down straight away, and it was full but never got to uncomfortable despite no spare seats......usually a good sign.Service was great, food was decent and I loved the open grill watching the team cook.All round a good night, ice cold Efes and I loved the way they celebrate the birthdays!

Great choice of menu with some lovely dishes (chicken shish was delicious) but the starters were vastly overpriced for the portion size. That said it was very entertaining (great way to celebrate your birthday) and the staff were lovely & attentive. My only other ask is to turn the music down slightly; on occasion you couldn’t hear each other speak.

Pleasant place for snacks and casual dining. Changed owners a few times over the last few years but now seems stable. Also good to drop in for coffee.

Gorgeous food but every time I go the restaurant is absolutely freezing. Had to keep my coat on more than once here. When we felt the pipes they weren’t hot. Don’t think we’ll be going back here unless that changes.

Grill on the Cross serves sensational Turkish food in the warmest and friendliest environments. The staff are attentive and eager to make sure you enjoy your time in the restaurant. Absolutely child friendly, they are welcomed and accommodated with equal care. It’s clear they are passionate about their delicious food and provide drama and theatre when the Baklava is served! Will keep coming back for more!

Love this place, one of the first places in Lymm myself and new girlfriend tried for food, it’s simply brilliant. Great food menu and a great selection of wine and drinks. Regular Thursday night haunt, if you’re in Lymm and your hungry for Turkish good, do it!

We have been a few times now and every time Jimmy & his team provide amazing food & amazing service. Nothing is too much trouble and they go out of there way to provide for you. Very highly recommend this place for any occasion.

This Turkish-influenced eatery in Lymm is a great place for fine food and a friendly family atmosphere. Adults and kids alike are welcomed but children being present only adds to a warm atmosphere. The Turkish-born host Jimmy, along with his family and staff, is really customer focused and is a dream with the kids and really looks after them, taking a little pressure off parents.

Made very welcome even though I wasn’t staying. Had a lager until my food came. Food was enough for two evening meals and was good. I’ll be back with my friends

Great lamb shish, great service, reasonable pricing and lovely staff. Revani dessert was also fab and topped off with Turkish sweet tea

The food is authentic and delicious. The lunch menu is of good value. The service was excellent. The grilled lamb rib tasted similar to those served in Turkey. Worth giving this place a try if one in is around the area.

The staff were very good and helpful, the food was quick (possibly because on our visit on a Monday it was not very busy). The food was excellent and tasty, the menu had a good selection of meat fish and vegetarian.

It has been about six years since we last visited this restaurant and it is still as good as ever. It is a very well laid out restaurant with tables looking out over the main square/road through Lymm and beautifully decorated. It is on the second floor with two flights of stairs to negotiate. There is a public carpark nearly beside the restaurant but if you are parking there on a bank holiday weekend please beware, The sign says 'Bank Holidays Free Parking' This only means Free on the Bank Holiday Monday NOT the whole weekend. The staff are brilliant and very helpful and the food is absolutely delicious. When one of the staff found out that one of our party was celebrating a birthday, all the staff came out with instruments and sang Happy Birthday to her. A very nice touch. Wholly Recommend!

We really like this small cosy restaurant, feel extremely welcomed by friendly and warm staff; their service is very personalized and you feel really good when you bring your guests over...They remember what we like, and even that our son is allergic to nuts...They would bake his bread separately and will try their best to accommodate all our taste requirements. Lamb Beiti is a must to have if you haven;t tried it yet, and so their adana kebabs. Early bird menu is specially very reasonable price wise, with most of the main menu choices on it. I am not exactly a big turkish cuisine fan but this place probably made me a convert.

Visited both for an evening meal and lunch. Enjoyed the same friendly and efficient service both times. The food we ordered could not have been better both times. The baclava - and the way it was served - was to die for!!! On our second visit we were greeted like long lost friends.

Visited here with a group of friends to celebrate a special birthday. The staff helped me plan beforehand to ensure everything was special on the night- nothing was too much trouble. Very attentive on the night and the food was amazing.

We all really like Turkish food so were really pleased to discover this restaurant and had an excellent dinner here. The menu is quite extensive so we had a mixed hot meze starter which was excellent, then had main courses. My chicken iskender was superb - lots of tender chicken in a rich tomato sauce with plenty of thick yogurt and cubes of toasted bread which worked well to soak up the juices. The lamb shank was also rated as excellent. We had a very nice bottle of Turkish red wine to go with it. The staff were really nice and looked after us very well. Definitely a place to return to.

Went on a Thursday pre 7pm and I chose from early bird menu and my husband the normal menu. The food was delicious, staff were really attentive but unobtrusive. Atmosphere was nice would definitely go again.

I have had the best meal of my life here. Never tasted flavours like it, I have been to Turkey and the food here is better, I had the Adana and it was perfect. Amazing every time with lovely staff, Baklava is to die for!

Went here for family meal midweek and the food was awful. Cold fatty lamb casserole dry chicken .dont know if they have a different chef on midweek .much better restaurants than this around.

A massive thank you to Jimmy and Damla and all the rest of the staff for making my 70th birthday celebration so wonderful. Could have gone horribly wrong because our number reduced from 10 to seven, and the table I had booked didn't seem right. They were immediately on the case and allowed us to move down to the oval table in the middle, which was perfect. All the staff were so friendly and attentive, yet not intrusive. The food was absolutely fabulous, as ever and the night was topped off with a Turkish rendition of "Happy Birthday". Such fun and the memory lingers on with a massive smile on my face. We'll be back!

This is one of our go to places, especially for family gatherings. The staff are soo lovely with us as group and the little ones too. We went two weeks ago, a couple of days after our holiday in Turkey. Their food is just a good. The flavours in the food is brilliant. Try the metre long kebab we did and added lamb chops and chicken wings to share and it was fabulous.

On a little road trip from Edinburgh to Manchester to find this little gem of a place! Literally walked in to a great atmosphere with the most amazing staff! To top the that the food came and it us right back to turkey, me and my sister are so happy to find this place wishing you guys the best! Thanks for a great evening!

Went for an evening meal. Food was absolutely delicious, brilliantly fragrant and big quantities. Staff super friendly, they picked up it was my partner’s birthday and surprised us with surprise drinks and happy birthday song. Would highly recommend

Absolutely fantastic! Gorgeous authentic food, lovely atmosphere, attentive helpful staff in wonderful surroundings. Really reasonable prices and good value for money. Me, my husband and our kids love it here and visit quite often. We liked it as Flavours but think it’s miles better now as Grill on the Cross. Love the apple tea after and the Turkish delight! A real nice touch. Keep up the good work, we recommend you to all!

Dined in Lymm many times, but never at this Restaurant, so first time visit for both my wife & myself, plus our two friends. Decision made based on the high quality reviews on Tripadvisor; so glad we did. Our visit was on a Saturday evening, booked beforehand, place was packed out for our 7.30 slot, so would def recommend pre-booking, especially at weekend. Nice ambiance in the place, bit noisy too, but delicious smells coming from the Kitchen BBQ. Great service from a friendly and helpful staff, most of whom seemed to be Turkish. My wife had minced lamb kebab, I had a mixture of lamb shish/halloumi, both meals came with a generous portion of rice & salad Our friends had grilled Seabass & Moussaka, once again huge portions and very filling, so glad we declined starters. The meals were full of flavour and well presented. We finished with an absolutely delicious Baklava chopped and presented with ice cream at our table by Restaurant Manager Sam, a great guy.. The bill for 4 of us with drinks and a tip was £100, great value. Won't be long before we return. Highly recommended

Lovely evening meal once again with our lovely friends at Grill on the Cross..excellent service and so friendly as usual and of course meal delicious cooked on their live hot coal grill. Thank you for a lovely experience once again. X

Tried GRILL ON THE CROSS in Lymm today. Was a real treat. Arrived 18:15pm for the early bird deal. Pics attached. X2 glasses of wine, x2 starters and x2 mains. Lentil soup, Hummus, chicken and lamb skewers - all fresh ingredients. Very tasty. Quick service. It was a Thursday and by 7pm the restaurant was 70% full. Friendly staff. Nice view of the Cross. It’s listed as #2 restaurant in Lymm and we can see why. People near us had Mojitos which looked great. We will be back

By chance found this restaurant as we were trying to find a new place to eat in the area.

This is a really good Turkish Restaurant. The food is very authentic. We always have the mixed meat starter to share and then the plate of mixed meat, which comes with sides. We normally have to take some home though!
