Flaming Wok in Cambridge

Beef curry was very tasty. The sweet and sour chicken balls were delicious. The sweet and sour sauce was gorgeous. Crispy shredded beef was okay.

One of the worst Chinese around , spent nearly £30 on chicken balls , honghonk style chicken and salt and pepper chips! The chips clearly were reheated and no Flavour to them , the hong honk style chicken tasted like chemicals and was inedible and the chicken balls were average ! Won’t be ordering again

Disappointed with the food , pancake roll tasted of old oil . Chicken & mushroom was ok , mushroom curry was very watery very disappointed.

jia hao he is rampant i caught him pooping in the kitchen he had a wet patch on his pants he’s crazy, i ate the food and vomited 17 times 10 minutes later, i had diarrhoea so bad i got in hospital, not halal, food tasted good tho

I will never order from here again after finding plastic in my daughters mouth very close to swallowing it and choking on it. It was from in her noodles (she is 2 and highly Autistic and can choke on things very easily ) but we rang them up to complain and get a refund on the whole meal because off this incident they offered to refund the noodles instead of the whole food and give 10% discount of the next time we order from them i guarantee you I won’t be after that the place should be shut down and investigated by health and safety because this place is dodgy as fxxxk so anyone who reads this and can make it happen please do so they are a joke offering what they offered me over my child’s life like her life was nothing

How rude, place a order for delivery and it is cancelled by the restaurant what a joke. Defo will NEVER BE ordering from here again o hang on I can't just because of where I live.

At last a proper Chinese in North Cambridge Food was great..large portions..nice and hot..and pretty cheap ! Staff were lovely. Would highly recommend !

Doesn't necessarily look like much from the outside but the Chinese takeaway is amazing, especially the special set menus for 1! Me and my partner love to get food from here occasionally! The special set menu usually does me for at least three meals as well - so good portions too!

The food here is absolutely dire, I left my partners house ready for a long drive back to Norfolk and really fancied battered sausage and chips. It's less than a minute walk from my partners to this takeaway, and the only thing I took away from this place was a lesson on never to go back there again. The place looked dirty and dingy from the outside, but I thought I would give them a fair appraisal on the quality of food anyway. I ordered a battered sausage and chips from what I can only deem are the most unfriendly bunch of morons I have ever met, but hey if the foods great, I don't care. I had to wait about 5 minutes for the chips to cook and they just planted them onto of the counter wrapped up with no offer of salt or vinegar and despite me asking for them to be open. Well, I thought, as long as they taste good, I was starving, so I walked across the green to my car, opened up and got in, unwrapped the chips and left them on my passenger seat to nibble on while driving. What can I say, I have been to many many chip shops in my time, they were vile, crispy and dry, They were absolutely rotten, I would not even feed them to your dog, let alone mine. You would think that if you owned a business you would take a level of pride in the products and or service you provide, well clearly, they certainly do not. The food is minging, I like to be fair and enjoy leaving a good review, but I seriously could not find anything good to say about this place, ok they have a nice sign out the front, but that is it. I can not stress enough the dirty look of the place inside, the customer service and the quality of food is diabolical. Never will I enter this appallingly bad takeaway again, I felt the need to wipe my feet on the way out. How this place manages to stay afloat looking the way it does, not being customer friendly and serving such low quality products, I have no idea, I shall not be going back for fear of contracting botchalism or something more serious, stay away folks, I'd rather eat my left testicle than to eat from this dive ever again. BE WARNED!!!!!

Selling inedible and foul food. Refused to refund the item. Reported to the council and trading standards. Would recommend all to follow suit Edit: since posting this review and following up with the food standards agency this company's level has dropped from a 5 (obviously from previous owners) to a 3 which in my mind proves my point.

Delicious food and great service from Jiahao

I'm shocked by some of the negative reviews. I've ordered from Flaming Wok via just eat several times and not once have I ever received anything less than perfect (food, staff and delivery) I personally love that my food arrives hot and is not sat in a litre of oil like some take out options do. Please don't change guys, as you are one of the takeaways I actually look forward to ordering from and can enjoy every time I order.

The absolute worst food delivery service imaginable. Placed an order that took well over an hour arrive. Upon the delivery's arrival the driver demanded a 3 pound fee because he had called previously and didn't get through. There is a reason Uber have implemented a messaging service which he did not use. Our address is to a student accommodation all of which have receptions to leave the food. It wasn't my fault that the driver did not know this. He finally arrived and demanded the three pounds, to which I declined. He walked away with the food I paid for. Never go to this restaurant unless you are looking for this type of experience.

First experience here. Chips only half edible others weren't cooked enough. Still raw imo. Not good. Waste of my money.

Absolutely disgusting service! I ordered at around 4.30pm and estimated delivery of 5.05 and 5.25pm. This was my first order on Uber eats. I received a phone call not long after to confirm the address from a land line number not local to here. My food had still not arrived by around 5.50pm. I had sent several chase ups on the app for a delivery update me had not heard so I called the Flaming Wok directly. They said it had been delivered and then quickly backtracked to say it was on it’s way. At around 6.30pm we had a notification saying we had cancelled the order which we had not. We called the restaurant to complain and they did not want to help at all. Now left with a very hungry family and upset children!!!

I ordered food for delivery at 19h , payment went through and was said the food was cooking , however over 40min I received a message saying that the restaurant has cancelled my Just Eat order because they're unable to make it. I called to the restaurant because I was not happy for a cancellation 45min after when my food should be at my door by then ! Not nearly a hour after ordering. They just been very rude with me telling that they just forgot to cancel in the moment I made the order because they didn't had available drivers. Was very disappointing and after i read the reviews I realised this is normal to happen in their restaurant. I will never eat there anymore, they just don’t care about their customers and if I could review with 0 stars, I would do it.

Wasn't overly impressed last time I used this place but decided to give it another go. Lad serving coughs everywhere and there are many handwritten, aggressive notices including one saying that they charge for card payments - I don't think this is legal. Got home and had been given beef rather than the requested beancurd. First phonecall was picked up, treated as a joke and the phone put down. Next call was dealt with terribly, with the word beancurd simply being repeated at me - tofu similar results. Awful - will not be going back. If it was possible to give no stars, I would.

Awful prices low quality £5.30 for a medium chips and 1.25 litre bottle of coke including 80p charge to use card we are nearly in 2022 doesn’t make u feel welcome going in there

Really easy ordering on the app, great selection of English dishes which seems to be uncommon at most Chinese takeaways, fast delivery and amazing food! Will definitely be ordering from Flaming Wok again! 😁 After a bad experience with Ocean Dragon, I would have never ordered with them again so don't let bad reviews stop you from ordering with the new owners because you'll be missing out!

Beware of definite fake reviews saying this place is good. Flaming Wok took over Ocean Dragon (which used to be brilliant). Flaming Wok is absolutely terrible! Expensive, awful quality food, took 2 hours to arrive despite estimate of 45 mins. When questioned they lied and said there was heavy traffic (I checked google, there was no traffic at all). Food was so horrible we struggled to eat it. Terrible quality. Do not waste your money or time.

If you have tried real Chinese food, I don't think you will appreciate the food here. This is very typical Chinese takeaway that put little effort in food quality

Last time we ordered from here, after waiting 1.5 hours for delivery amd then we were informed they didn't receive our online order, 45 mins later it arrived. Today we were told it would be 30 mins, over an hour later it has still not arrived. We were weekly customers before it started taking so long to deliver. I won't be ordering from flaming wok again.

First time ordering from here very happy with our food very tasty squid cooked beautifully the battered Mars bars so good!! Only criticism would be the chicken balls were abit over done (fried) chicken abit dry in the middle but apart from that very happy with all the food we ordered so thankyou 😀

Pretty well unimpressed, Food arrived 25 mins late, subsequently it was stone cold, the driver apologised for being late, he said he got lost, its the most simple address to find too, and i left dead easy delivery instructions, he wasn't a British driver and obviously couldn't understand instructions, when I eventually got to eat my food, crispy chilli beef was so hard it nearly broke my teeth, and the salt n pepper coating on my squid had pretty much all come off and squid was tough too. This was the first and last I have used this place iWill never order from here again, maybe if the ocean dragon read all these reviews they might try to buck their ideas up a bit. Doesn't look like it though.

Chinese use to be good but fish n chips is horrible

Chips smelled of old cooking oil, sweet and sour noodles with mixed meat was inedible, the meat tasted like it was all boiled in the same pot. The chicken dumplings were delicious. Overall a definite pass for me next time.

First and last time going... got sick all morning after

So the food was pretty average, I thought the price was ok but then the meat ratio was so low compared to the onions and peppers and carrots. The pork dish literally had like 5 pieces then the rest was sauce and veg won’t order from here again

Ordered from this restaurant through JustEat and it was actually great. The only down side was that the sauce we ordered came in as rather sweet instead of spicy but I could have gotten the order wrong. We were starving from a long trip and didn't want to eat hotel food so this did the trick!

A fish and chips shop that does Chinese takeaway, and as s result of the combination, a long menu. Food is average, the price is the same as anywhere else, the staff are friendly, the shop is clean, and next door is a Tesco express. Students from Cambridge Regional College and employees from nearby businesses come here for lunch, so if you don't want to wait long for your order, avoid lunch time.

Was a bit dubious, but the food was lovely

Their Kebabs used to be great but not now. Ordered two for delivery and as soon as I opened the boxes I could smell something was wrong, tried a bit of the meat and had to spit it out - Rancid, threw the lot in the bin. Phoned them but no one bothered to pick up. Will never use again.

Since the new ownership took place the improvements are amazing! Great tasting Chinese, good portions and reasonably priced.

I had to wait over 2 hours after placing my order to be told it will be another 10 minutes. As the food did not arrive 2 hours and 30 min after ordering I decided to cancel.

Convenient for a quick snack. Clean, welcoming and with a wide range of Chinese standards and British regular meal options.

The staff are friendly and they do such a huge variety of take away food, it seems like they do it all. Chinese food, kebabs, burgers, chips, which in one respect is quite good, but in another I feel it's because they do a little bit of everything, they don't really specialize in anything and as such the food often doesn't taste as nice as a lot of other take aways. They do seem to compensate however with pretty good prices.

Do you want food? Do you want food that is edible? You have come to a location that sells food. The food won't taste good, in many cases it will taste bad, but it is food that you can eat. Sure, they can't even cook chips properly and will be rude over the phone because the workers are paid minimum wage and management doesn't give a toss, but where else are you gonna get food? Tesco? Eff off. I would give this 1 star if the food was inedible. It's just bad instead.

This is an excellent takeaway that ptovides both English and Chinese food. It's unfortunate that it's located in a rough area frequented by rowdy youths who sometimes get to fighting one another or other innocent people. Take care and be alert especially at nighttime.

Had beef in black Bean sauce and special fried rice. My partner had speacial Japanese curry house special noodles and crispy pancake rolls .. we enjoyed every last mouthful. .top place for food :) I would recommend.

Awful customer service! And apparently believe that two and a half hours is a reasonable waiting time for a delivery?! Lady on the phone didn’t care that we’d been waiting such a long time for a pricey order... totally disappointed with my experience and VERY glad I was paying cash and didn’t have to wait for a refund. I live 10 mins down the road, the driver went to the wrong place then still took 45 mins to get to me after having called me from the wrong place and after I had cancelled my order after having enough of waiting. Communication is also clearly lacking on top of customer service.

Told delivery would take 1 hour, delivered in 15 minutes, delivered wrong food, ordered chicken curry delivered chicken rice, phoned and told them their mistake and was told it would take an hour to deliver the curry , order chicken balls and were burnt. NEVER AGAIN

Nice restaurant and was really quick..

So Wife and I orderded on a Saturday at 4:00 PM. Delivery was very quick but quality was equally very poor. Chips were so obviously lunch time left overs, even our dogs turned their noses up at them (dried out, hard as rocks). The beef fried rice was leftover eggfried rice with some meat pieces thrown in, not fresh either. Vegetable chow mein had some sadly undercooked vegetables. The only thing that did taste nice was the chicken black bean sauce. Overall, they continue to have problems with quality. It's unfortunate that our schedule requires eating so early and very few chinese takeaways are open this time except for Ocean Dragon. It would be my very last choice and is one of the reasons I rarely order chinese (even though I love it in general!)
