Fish large but batter soft and inedible. Chips rock hard cooked completely wrong. Service terrible one woman doing all the phone calls plus trying to organise. Been local for 30 years and the new management is terrible.

Disapointed ordered cheese burger. Yes fresh salad in it BUT NO CHEESE NO SAUCES , won't buy cheese burger there again.

Ive been having Chinese food from here for years and absolutely love it never had any problems with food always hot and fresh staff are polite on phone and on delivery. Just wish they was open on tuesdays as crave it on that day but have to wait but all in all fantastic place to get food.

Food is ace, price is up there but so is everything at the moment. But for the price point you do seem to get 2 portions worth for a 1 person order. So fair is fair.

Finally tried this local business. Ladies been very nice and working hard during busy Saturday evening. Place was nice and clean. Chicken dumplings been nice and crispy. Mixed meat chow mein was a bit disappointing not a hint of salt practically completely bland. It was a good sized portion but just a few pieces of veg could add some bean sprouts. And definitely SALT.

Love this place. Food is delicious, and the staff are kind. If you're a regular, they will remember your order.

We love getting dinner from the Cherry House. We have been using it for 10 years, and it never fails to provide a delicious meal for my family. Obviously with inflation prices have increased, but we still use it, once or twice a month. It does get very busy at the weekends, so I recommend phoning order through to avoid waiting around.

We use this takeaway a lot and we’re never disappointed. The food standards agency have rated it 5 out of 5 for cleanliness, by the way. We get it delivered and it’s usually very fast, too. I could eat a plateful of their sesame prawn toast, if I didn’t need to leave space for crispy duck and pancakes! Best Chinese in the area, in our experience.

Average Chinese takeaway fish n chips bit scruffy March 2023 very expensive now portion chips £3.10 king prawn balls £7.00 ,we have stopped using this takeaway . Spoken English awfull can't understand male Chinese staff.

Had our usual takeaway Saturday night, been using this place couple of years now. I had the noodles in black bean sauce. Not long after I vomited the noodles back up. All weekend I have had bad stomach problems. I phoned 111. They confirmed it to be food poisoning. So now a trip to the gp. Will not use this takeaway again. I think they need a visit by Cambridge council to check how clean they are. So will report it. And I may sue them as well.

Been using this takeaway for years, had noodles in black bean sauce. The black bean sauce was very thick . Not like usual. I ended up being physically sick all evening. The next day was many trips to the toilet. Ruined my Sunday. I work for the NHS so days off being sick with food poisoning are not great, so I won’t be returning to this takeaway again.

Just ordered a Chinese from here, they forgot my chips which is one of my fave parts! I only ordered 4 items worth £20 so don’t understand how they forgot these :( gutted! Also didn’t send any prawn crackers either, I’m sure if you spend over around £15 you get prawn crackers! So all me and my partner had for dinner was rice, noodles and chicken balls :( such a shame as the rice and noodles were delicious! Just find it frustrating they managed to get this order wrong

My husband and I are takeaway addicts he loves a chinese but I have had so many greasy same old oil tasting ones where I end up feeling I'll I had given up. Then we had some family round all fans of a good chinese so opted for the cherry bridge. Everything was amazing the prawn toasts were crisp not oily the chicken balls were packed with chicken not just batter and crisp. For 5 of us with 3 very greedy elder teenagers it fed us well and plenty of leftovers spending about £80 imagine that price anywhere else. Chips are best in Cambridge for proper chip shop chips I cannot honestly rate this higher.

Purchased & charged for plaice & large chips but only received a small portion of chips. It was not busy, so there was no pressure on staff. Careless attitiude & a con to those of us trying to share food with family.

Consistently quick, lovely and the food has been great every time.

Chinese food, chips, fish, chicken are all available. On entering the premises, it is clear it needs a face lift. The decor is scruffy and tired. Staff were prompt and pleasant. However, the oil smelt like it needed changing, as there was an overwhelming smell of grease. I ordered Chinese food and it was fine, nothing amazing but perfectly edible, although the sweet and sour sauce was a neon orange, chose not to eat it, looked slightly radioactive!! As a take away is a treat for me, I would not return.

Popped in to cherry house because I was Hank Marvin and I had a long drive back to the big smoke ahead of me. Local chippy, it was clean and well maintained, from what I could see. The lass serving me had a cold demeanor, but the last serving the food seemed a little more relaxed and genial. They looked like mother and daughter to be honest, perhaps a family run business and the lass yearned to be away with her chums? Anyway the portion was of a decent size with the chips being golden and hitting the perfect ratio fat and fluffy interspersed with the crispy crunchy little blighters, and then the hidden big crispy sods. Almost perfect, almost It was ruined somewhat by the fish. Which was literally mutton in sheep's clothing. It was obviously sitting in the warmer for a while because it was soggy and greasy at the bottom, and totally dry on the top. You know that kind of dry where it stops being crispy and becomes gum shreddingly crunchy. The fish inside it crunchy glass like cage was also dry and mealy. What an immense disappointment that fish turned out to be. Dazzling to look at, devestating to eat. I would have given a one but for the sublime portion of chips. Chips saved the day. My summary, I was more disappointed than upset, Cracking chips (sometimes literally), forgettable, fraudulent fried fish.

We have been good customers to cherry house take away,our favourite is chicken omelette but we are loseing interest as today we had 2 meals ,only 3 small pieces of chicken,not good enough cherry house we have noticed & just will not buy from you.

I really disagree with the negative comments here. The staff are great, very kind and pleasant. I always get a wave when I leave with my order. The food is good, whether fish and chips or Chinese. I come every week. It is certainly better than other options around this area, and to me is good value for money. I never feel disappointed.

Just had excellent takeaway, delivered to caravan site. Tasty, fresh ingredients seasoned just right. Vegetables nicely sliced, not greasy, chicken satay in particular was lovely, with lots of peanuts in sauce. Delicious, would definitely use again.

Can't say I have tried all the Chinese takeaway places but definitely my favourite one. Used to love one on Cherry Hinton Road but now this is the spot! Many takeaways use cheap frozen chicken in their food, this place always has fresh nice products. Flavours are great and people very friendly.

I checked out the Food Standards Agency website, to find a Chinese takeaway nearby that gets 5 out of 5 for hygiene, and found this one. We ordered a delivery the other night, and the food arrived pretty quickly.. and it was all very tasty! I particularly liked the king prawns with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce, as it had plenty of king prawns and cashews, so we’ll definitely be using Cherry House again.

10/10 our favourite Chinese to date. Would thoroughly recommend it! Thanks folks

Brilliant chips go hard after a while

The Chinese food is usually good, and the fish and chips. They deliver without too much of a wait, the only annoying thing is having to pay cash for delivery. We have been going there for around 30 years.

The Best Chinese takeaway in Cambridge, gets busy at weekends but worth the wait. Polite service, orders always complete and fresh. Definitely recommended!

Very little is prepared so expect a long wait especially at lunch time. Chips absolutely beautiful however the fish is small even a large is small compared to other shops and the batter is literally swimming in foul tasting oil......

Not always the best, a bit hit and miss on quality

Vil. Papas fritas amarillas crujientes duras y crudas duras y demasiado cocidas, masa en las bolas de gambas casi crudas por dentro con pequeñas langostinos cuestionables. El arroz especial era simple, sin carne ni verduras. Encontré un par de langostinos pero no cebolletas ni pollo ni cerdo ni guisantes, y los 2 langostinos tenían un sabor muy extraño como desinfectante, lo que me hizo vomitar. Salsa agridulce está bien. La salsa de curry en el pollo al curry apenas contenía carne o verduras, principalmente salsa muy espesa y artificial.Galletas de gambas estaban aceitosas. Lo único marginalmente mejor fue el chow mein de res (que estaba caliente pero resbaladizo y masticable) y el pollo al limón, aunque tenía un sabor artificial y un poco demasiado dulce.Muy hambriento antes y después de la comida, porque casi todo fue arrojado a la basura y una pérdida total de dinero. Muy decepcionado y avergonzado por el nivel de comida que esperábamos disfrutar con nuestros amigos.

A good Asian food takeaway. In the area there are two of those. This is the better one. So far they have not disappointed. That's why it is worth returning.

We had fish and chips and one of the Chinese dishes. The chips were amazing, absolutely brilliant chip shop chips and the fish was tasty but the batter was less impressive, not bad but not at the same level as the chips. The Chinese food was decent and the portions were generous. Prices overall were reasonable, and we will definitely be going again.

Nothing could convince me that the cod was cod thin and tasteless chips £2:50 p expensive closed now for a clean up never get a smile from the people serving you so don't try one girl was picking her nails the other had a body warmer on while serving not pleasant

Some of the best chip shop chips I've ever had. the battered sausage was pretty standard but nothing to complain about and the chips where crispy and cooked to perfection 👌

Visited on Friday evening, unfortunately their fryer had broken down; I ordered 3 portions of chips and was told it would be 10-15 minutes but received my order after 35 minutes. Having occasionaly visited over the last 20 years I have never changed my opinion that I would order anything other than chips as I have my concerns with regard to the cleanliness. I only visited as my regular chippy was closed.

Bland rice. Hardly any chicken in the chicken fried rice. Chips were greasy and hard inside. HAD to wait 40 mins. Obviously a popular takeaway and very busy. I think because of this the food suffers. We're here on holiday and will not return to this chippy takeaway. Very poor.

There are two Chinese takeways on the High Street and we have tried both. Cherry House is by far the superior, food choices are very good and also tasty - the chow mein in particular. We have not yet come across anything we don't like. Delivery times depend on how busy they are, so I guess when food takes 45 mins it means they are busy which to me is a good sign as in mark of popularity. We have used it many times over the past five years but I've only just got around to reviewing it!! Even the fish and chips from here are some of the best I have tasted, not just in Cambridge but around the country with very generous portions.

These are the best fish and chips I have tasted in the South-East. Large, fresh, crispy battered fish. Chips are always great. I had stopped eating fish and chips but now we have them quite often, thanks to Cherry House. My parents came from Newcastle and said the same. I have been sitting in the shop and heard other customers return specifically to tell the staff how amazing the fish and chips are. (Surprised by somebody's negative review below - are you sure you went to this shop? We go all the time and have literally NEVER had bad food!) Also their udon and salt and pepper prawn and squid dishes are good though sometimes portions of squid are too small.

Ordered fish and chips for pick-up.Got back home to find out the chips are really hard and re-cooked not even dogs will eat it. Very disappointed with the quality of food.I think they are being choosy with their customers. Definitely not going back.

This takeaway does fish and chips and / or chinese takeaway. It is definitely the better of the two Chinese takeaways in Cherry Hinton High Street. If it was slightly less pricey we would frequent it more often. The fish and chips are ok. The batter is a bit too greasy for us.

I stopped in to pick up a quick dinner after several appointments in the area. As a chip shop it is fairly average - (clean, general selection good, and service fast). I didn't have time to order Chinese but may in the future. The chips were okay, though a little limp, the potato wedges a little above average. Service was good, and friendly, so worth another try. 3.4 out of 5.

I have been going to Cherry House for years and adore their food, its delicious, fresh and offers a different range of food not offered at many of the other Chinese takeaways in Cambridge. I have tried going to other places as they offer the ease of ordering online but I am always left disappointed and wishing I had gone to Cherry House. Never again will I ever set foot here. I saw someone ask for a regular and a large portion of chips, and they got two meagre portions. There were no spare menus for people to take away and I was violently ill that night. Just my experience, but has taught me a lesson!
