Flaming Grill in Carlisle

The staff was so friendly and helpful it's also dog friendly so my dog came along and he got a lot of attention and treats we stayed at a green meadows country park and it's only about 5 minutes down the round this pub so it was amazing for us the sitting area the facilities are clean and the food was really nice too thank you hope to come back again soon ☺️

Went to the pub before going to the cinema with my partner and her daughter. I ordered the rump steak cooked medium rare. The steak arrived over cooked as a medium, the steak had been flattered to the point I may as well have had a flat iron steak. The steak was also chewy, tough and very hard to eat. Safe to say I left more then half cause of this. The onion rings were also cold when they arrived. The waitress however asked if I wanted another cooked due to timing and how short time we had it would have made us late for the film.

Foods beautiful, staff are pleasant and fantastic value for money. Visited as a couple and also as a family plenty of choices for everyone

Just started going to this pub for lunch lately , surprised at first how busy it was but after a few visits found the reason why . The staff are helpful pleasant and welcoming and the food is excellent quality and great value for money. We have chosen various options from the specials menu and have never been disappointed, especially when you see that they are 2 main meals for £12.99 and there is an excellent choice on the menu

If you want a long wait time for food this is a perfect place to go…Absolutely awful food. Shocking customer service. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Toilets are a disgrace. Seats at the tables are dirty too. Food isn't anything to write about either except the long blonde hair on my plate. The only good thing to say is the staff were friendly. As it's next to a Premier Inn, any visitor to Carlisle will think the city is the same. Not a good example for Carlisle hospitality.

I am not normally a fan of Greene King pubs and was boycotting them at one point. However my new job involves taking some of residents/ service users to the Gosling for lunch during the week and I have always found the staff to be friendly, attentive and make my residents who have mental health issues/ learning difficulties feel so welcome. I took my wife here and she enjoyed the place so much that we went back for Sunday lunch. As usual the staff were friendly and attentive and it is really the staff that make this place. We both enjoyed our Sunday dinners , it was well presented, promptly served and tasted delicious. My wife had the beef and I had the vegetarian option. Certainly will come back and it is a great alternative to eating in the city centre.

Rang to book a table for a family of four and a dog, the staff put the reservation in the dogs name with treats which we found funny and welcoming. Meal fantastic although I didn't expect anything less as we've been before and never had a poor meal. Shout out to Anne who is friendly and of course Kerry who just can't do enough to make the visit more pleasant. Food 10/10 and welcoming staff 11/10

We Visit Carlisle every month to see family and always call in at the Gosling for lunch or tea as we have been doing for the past 3 years. However, our last 2 visits have been pretty poor, people say you get what you pay for, but whether your paying £10 or £50 for a meal you expect it to be good quality and fit to eat. This weekend it was pretty awful, the flat breads were like cardboard you could snap them, the chicken was dried out and my daughters steal one was even worse, none had the dressing on like the menu photo. The staff who served us were helpful, one of the meals was returned twice and still wasn't edible. The potatoes on the kids meal were hard and again not edible. I hate giving poor reviews but it spoilt our night, not sure what's happened but it's definitely not the same and we won't be returning.

Went with friends to celebrate our son's 18th birthday. Barbara and her staff were very accommodating and helpful, reserved an area so we could all sit together. Some had food which was lovely. Everyone had an excellent evening and has remarked what a great place to celebrate.

Booked a table online for fathers day lunch, service was lovely, we were told at least half hour wait for food but our starter came out within ten minutes, only waited fifteen minutes for our lunch , food was hot and tasty, we would definitely return , thankyou green king

Just stayed overnight at the premier Inn next door but had an excellent evening at this pub. It was very busy but they managed to find a table for us where we enjoyed a really good meal and some great beers. Staff were most pleasant considering that they were rushed. It was like an oasis on our long trip from North Scotland down the West Midlands!!

We stayed at the Premier Inn which is located next door during our stay for a tennis event held for my U14 Lancashire Boys team over the weekend. Jamie, Barbara and Clare were so professonal and helpful during our stay with finding a table, service , breakfast been served earlier, and kindeness which we are very gratful for. Great visit with friends again, everyone's meal was delicious, plenty of ice in the drinks which makes a nice change from most places! service was great from the minute we walked in the door until we left.

The worst Greeneking in Carlisle (and I thought the appletree couldn't lose its title!). We always choose the beehive for it's fantastic food & service but today we tried here due to football match. Never again will we return!!! Hunters chicken - 2x tiny breasts (more like off a pigeon due to size), served with brown chips, clearly cooked in old fat that needed to be changed. Scampi - no lemon (which I requested and it still never arrived by the time we'd finished) served with cold mushy peas and chips that again, couldn't eat due to fat needing changing. Most of the scampi when cut into had NO scampi, cheap quality food to say the least. Such a waste of time (and money) coming here! Not once were we asked if the food was ok (maybe a good thing due to my thoughts). not even when plates were cleared! We ended up going to Mcdonalds for a pudding as I couldn't give this place any more of my money!

My wife and I come here when we’re in Carlise. Food is always fantastic and the service is always good. Can’t fault it. It’s dog friendly too which is a massive plus

We didn’t book but no bother getting a table. Great Gluten Free choice. So delicious and friendly staff. Visiting family and will certainly return.

Disappointed, we were staying in the inn next door, which we have done many times. Went to get some food and were told we could not get a table for at least 2 hours, but could book for then? Luckily the coach and horses had reopened so we did the 10 min walk to there and ate wonderful home cooked food. Actually did us a favor as we will eat there when staying in the future.

Great food with service to match! Something for everyone on the menu and a wide array of drinks. A lovely destination for a family lunch.

Very busy place tonight and even though we hadn’t booked a table we still got in, from ordering food to receiving it wasn’t a long time, staff were very busy especially on the bar. Chips that came with husband meal were warm and mine were piping hot. Food was served on a baking tray with grease proof paper on them , not the best idea they were all bent out of shape and blackened. Food was ok and atmosphere was good.

We stayed at the adjoining premier inn so popped in for dinner and breakfast the following morning. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful if they tried, they were all so lovely. We arrived 17/2/24 and it was busy. The lady working had just started her shift and just got back after being on holiday (I didn’t catch her name). She was so helpful-found us a table that could accommodate the pushchair we had with us. Very friendly. Reasonably priced menu-food was really nice. Easy to order at the bar or via app. The breakfast the following day was nice also-again staff very friendly and helpful and one more very accommodating to the pushchair. The lady who served us breakfast was very attentive in checking we were happy and if we needed anything. Would revisit if in area again.

Decent food and service, although ordering was slow due to the queue. Enjoyed the nachos very much, and the steak pie was good. The menu wasn't really to my taste but as I was staying in the adjacent Premier Inn and had a poorly car it was the sensible option.

My wife and I went for the Chick 'n Mix Platter on this occasion and it was piping hot, very tasty and arrived within a few minutes of placing our order. I have to say that this is a fantastic pub and we feel lucky to have it as our 'local'. The staff are friendly, courteous, attentive and always have a kind word and cheery smile for you. The food is always excellent in our experience and alongside an expansive and varied menu there are a lot of great value deals to be had throughout the week. We thoroughly recommend 'The Gosling' as both a great place to eat and a great pub.

We were here for our dad's 90th birthday. Barbara,Jamie & all the staff really went above & beyond to make sure everything was perfect,Barbara even remembered my sisters birthday and surprised her with a drink and cake too.
