I don’t understand how some places have such a high rating. Either the general expectation is low or my taste buds are utterly deceiving me. Generally very salty and greasy. The food ranged from average to poor. Beef was decent, Szechuan Prawn (or any version) should be avoided completely. The roast pork was quite dry and the roast duck was OK but very salty. The most awful aspect of this experience was the service. We had our table (of two) at 19:15 and waited over 1:30hrs for our food. Even paying the bill took a long time. Will give two stars and not one as staff were nice. I really wanted to like this place, but was quite disappointed.

The food wasn't very good. I don't mean terrible. Just a bit poor. Example you read mixed seafood. You'll have 2 shrimps tail and a bit of shredded calamari.

It was quiet on a Sunday evening and my first time at 5 Spice... Service was excellent and friendly. Food was very good and I really enjoyed it. Will go again if I get a chance!

I am Coeliac and it's very hard to find Gluten Free somewhere that is safe to eat. We met the owner who reassured me that she new her stuff. Well researched and separate cooking for Gluten Free. Five Spice did this, we had a fantastic takeaway, so good that I shared it on Surrey Coeliacs UK. Thank you! It was the first time ordering form Five Spice, what was amazing was the interior, looking forward now to a meal out!

Good to pop in here for a vegan meal: vegetarian and vegan menu was available to me. I enjoyed the tofu dish with rice. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about veganism.

Very nice food ive not been to this place for 15 years as I think it went down hill but now i can safely say it is spot on loved the food great value thankyou 👍

We went to Five Spice last night for the first time and had a brilliant time. We had outstanding service from the staff and the food was absolutely delicious - it’s been a while since I ate in at a Chinese restaurant rather than getting a takeaway and it really does make a huge difference! We will be back soon!

Authentic Cantonese cuisine, not Gui Lao Tang cuisine. Fair prices and attentive service. The facade is beautiful, the interior decoration is very thoughtful, and even the toilets are easy to manage. Highly recommended.

Looking forward to the Chinese with friends unfortunately VERY very disappointed. Lemon chicken was soggy with no lemon sauce, crispy chilli chicken was cold and no flavour. I feel they watered down the dishes with no flavour and cheap quality of food. The duck wasn't crispy and extremely soggy. Avoid at all costs waste of MONEY.

Ive always rated Five Spice but last night left really disapointed, It wasnt at all busy yet felt rushed by the staff? The food was really not up to much? The duck we ordered arrived as lamb? The chilli beef was so chewy .. tasteless dishes. Its a shame as its always had my rating

I loved everything about it. The food tasted so good, the service was curteous and the atmosphere was relaxed. I was there on my birthday, Sunday, June 18th, 2023. They didn't know it was my birthday, but they didn’t treat me any less special.

Food was lovely and the service was great. Will certainly be going back and will use them too for takeaway.

Used to love this place, but probably wouldn't order from them again as the last few meals I've had have been extremely greasy, its actually disgusting the sheer amount of oil poured into one dish! (Takeaway) Shame as the staff are nice.

Went here for my Nieces Birthday meal. Food was delicious, lovely atmosphere and the staff really made the experience worthwhile, very friendly and engaging and also came out with some little bracelets for the kids. Will definitely be visiting again!

Not very good food but served very quickly and by friendly staff. The restaurant is quite big and spacious, plenty of big tables. Good for all group sizes. Staff are very friendly and helpful and nice in general. Food arrived very quickly, literally about 3 minutes after ordering everything came. It was rather disappointing tho, pretty bad flavours and just not that tasty. Such a shame! The beef was all rather chewy and not very nice cuts, the noodles we over cooked and served with dry pieces of meat, tsu mai were also over cooked and not very nice meat inside. Hotpot was ok, just pretty average.

We were looking for a chinese that could cater for the vegans in our family (it was his birthday treat), we ordered online, were called to tell us collection time and waited for a bit we arrived - but lovely food and leftovers have been frozen.

I enjoy takeaways from this place and have done for a long time…but the one reason why I’ve given them a 2 star was the significant size of the 1/4 crispy duck compared to every other time I’ve ordered from here. It was tiny…I’m not sure if this was a one off..but if it’s not…I’ll stop ordering from them period!

It’s not Chinese food for Chinese. I’m sure my UK friends will love it. But not enough demand in Reigate for real Chinese dishes. The double cooked pork belly is not at all using correct ingredients and no red chillies seen. The full menu is just the same as your usual Chinese takeaway ingredients with different kind of pre-made sauces. The dish photos in the menu are just for marketing misleading me to believe they will have authentic Sichuan food. :(

It is a fine Chinese restaurant, and the service is good. Recommended for non-Chinese guests. The taste may not be so Chinese for the Chinese guests.

Nice food. I've eaten at the restaurant and ordered takeaway and the standard remained the same. I wish they did home delivery as that would really encourage me to order more.

Great customer service, however the food wasn’t great. Good location right next to the train station. Upon entry I was pleased, looks very authentic and has a good energy about it. The staff were great, greeted us well and came across lovely. I heard so many great reviews about this place I was excited to try it, unfortunately I left very much disappointed. We ordered our drinks, I went for a pint after noticing the draft tap, sadly I was poured a drink from a can. £3.70 for a £1 CAN of lager is not great, didn’t enjoy it wish I chose a Chinese bottled beer. We shared a starter and unfortunately It was extremely dry, as if it was cooked from frozen (chicken gyoza). My main arrived, I ordered the Szechuan beef and I can honestly say it was without a doubt the saltiest dish I have ever had in my life, I love salt but this was unbearable. I should have addressed it to them straight away however I felt bad as the customer service was so great. I ate half and couldn’t manage the rest. I may visit again to give it another go…..we will see.

If you want to go out for dinner! You should give Five-spice a go, you will so be so delighted with Ms Carol’s kitchens delicious foods !

Big menu with some good classic Chinese takeaway dishes, as well as a few more authentic dishes and a private pre order only menu!! We had the standard menu and all the food was well cooked and enjoyable. Five spice is certainly better than your average Chinese takeaway, but is not outstanding or worth a detour. If you live in the area, it's the best in Reigate. We would certainly go back...

I'm surprised that my experience was so different to all the other good reviews on here. The food was over priced to begin with. Which I normally wouldn't mind if the food was amazing. However it fell way short of my local takeaway, which offers much better value and taste. This will be the first and last time I get a takeaway from this place. It's a shame considering the great reviews but you only get one opportunity to impress I'm afraid.

Modern looking Chinese restaurant. Great choice of dishes, all beautifully cooked. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was relatively quiet, but staff were still attentive.

Definitely the best Chinese in Surrey, such a warm welcoming. The food is always cooked fresh & nothing is ever too much when asked for exchanges on the set menu. Highly recommend.

Used to be the best around but not anymore! Since discovered a change of ownership which would explain the drop in quality.

Lovely looking place. The staff are very efficient and seeming friendly. However they gave us tiny bowls to eat out of. Maybe if they gave out big plates it would expose how tight they were being with food! And the manager was fixating on my 6 year old son, worried that he'd damage one of his chairs. My son is a fidget but so well behaved. So we were just made to feel unwelcome. The food was ok. Just ok. You know when it's nice but you've had better elsewhere. Wouldn't go back.

Best quality Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Such a delicious Chinese restaurant in this corner of England?! I ordered butterfly prawn(6pc/ 6.80): goes well with mayo , Hong Kong sweet & sour pork( 6.50) - sauce taste just right, ma po tofu(7.00) gravy taste delicious with minced beef, soft noodle wit mushroom( 5.50) - Even the mushroom fried in right! Mapo tofu, sour & sweet pork, and stir-fried noodles are all delicious. The butter fried shrimp looked a bit like home fries (see photo), but they were delicious. The sauce was just right and not too spicy, so I think kids would enjoy it too. It's all delicious, and the vegetables included are fresh and cooked just right, so I think the chef is really good at it. I don't think anyone except the male server speaks English. I’ll try other foods next time! When I ordered it, they said it would take about 30 minutes, but I was late so I ate it 20 minutes after it was cooked, but it was still delicious. I've eaten a lot of Chinese food since I lived in Singapore, and it's really delicious here. メッチャうまいです🍽

Haven't been here since it was the China House previously. Was really pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, very attentive. The food was lovely and the decor is much improved.

Great food and attentive service! The venue is a bit small so it can get quite loud and social distancing is difficult inside but they do their best with the waitstaff wearing masks, giving out hand sanitizer, and taking your temperature before you go to a table.

We have had a delicious takeaways few weeks ago and this is the third time we had.  Good food, good service and my family enjoyed them very much….highly recommend. Peking Duck and Steam Chicken was a 10/10. It’s made me feel I am home. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Foods yummy, great dining atmosphere

I ordered a takeaway and the service was great over the phone and in person. The staff were very nice and friendly when I picked up the food. The food was great and cooked really well. Would definitely recommend this place. I've been searching for a really good Chinese restaurant in Reigate and now think I found it!

We used you use another well known takeaway the other end of town, no customer service and very poor food meant we hadnt had a Chinese for a year or so. We used five spice last night, food was just amazing, with unbelivable service, lovely people who take pride in providing what is needed to be successful in bringing customers back. At last a great restaurant serving great Chinese food.

Take away was much better than I was made to believe.

The food was absolutely incredible. I would even go so far as to say the best I have ever had! Carol and Tom were extremely accommodating with allergies and ensuring that we all had the best evening. Nothing was ever too much. I would highly recommend Five Spice for a magical evening where you feel so welcome and eat the most delicious food. I am looking forward to returning very soon with my own family. This is a real 5 star restaurant.

Carol is a fantastic host! Nothing is too much. Incredible food, atmosphere and friendly staff. She caters for all. She even put on a lion dance to celebrate Chinese new year for us! Great price for food too. Highly recommend going here for dinner!

Turned up at New Years Eve at about 7 and it was chaos - so busy - but somehow they managed to fulfil our order without error. I had to wait a while, but it was worth it. The food was amazing and well worth the wait. They also gave us a free beer to lighten the load, and they were very apologetic. Despite how busy they were, they still turned out great food which is super impressive. Our new fave Chinese.

Ordered a takeaway for collection, was told it would be 75 minutes, turned up at the time requested, paid for the takeaway and was then told it wasn’t ready and I’d have to wait. There were others waiting on takeaways and it looked like chaos. Certainly won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend to others.

Really good Chinese resturant. The layout and decor really good. Staff really professsional and attentive. Food was well presented. They have a good menu with few specialised options which you need to order 48 hours before. Worst thing I can say is they little bit pricey.
