Wonderful seafood plates, very friendly and welcoming, including to our dog. Right on the river Teifi and by the main car park. There’s also a fishmonger in the same building and they have great fish - not cheap but good quality!

£30 for a few pieces of lobster was incredibly overpriced. Similarly, a small pot of crab for £15. A very small salad and a scarcity of bread and condiments. We recognise that seafood is expensive but this was not a meal. Each plate was more like a starter. We suggest that you serve lemon wedges rather than a single slice of lemon per dish. The quality of the food was acceptable but the portions were not. £48 for a very small amount is not good value.

The food here is amazing whether you like seafood or not. I had a vegan salad bowl whilst my husband had a prawn sandwich. The portions were good and all washed down with very good coffee. The service is friendly and we were able to take our 2 dogs which is important to us. We sat out on the terrace with lovelyestuary views

From the outside this place looks tired and in need of some renovation, nevertheless, my husband wanted a fish lunch so we went inside. We were given a menu, and told to check the board for prices which was confusing in itself as the options on the board appeared different. Given it is called a 'cafe' we hoped there would be some kids non-fish options on the menu (fussy children) but there weren't. We therefore went elsewhere and grabbed some lunch for the children but they didn't have time to eat it outside as we were told the restaurant would be taking last orders in 20 mins (even though this was at 2.30 and the closing time was 4pm on the door). We therefore rushed back to the restaurant and found a table outside. We ordered two rolls at £26 and a short while later, an assistant came out to tell us we would have to cancel our order as they can't allow food from elsewhere on the premises. I politely explained what had happened and that we had ordered food anyway, but she couldn't get rid of us quick enough and cancelled our order. It seemed she wanted to finish her shift pronto, making sure staff knew it was last orders. When getting our money back she then said they had taken the payment twice so we needed £50+ refunding! How many other customers do they 'accidentally' take two payments from?!! I would never go back here and would never recommend this place.

What a find! We were just looking for a car park near the High Street and found this, adjacent. The fishmonger part of the business had some great stock and the restaurant couldn’t have had a better view out the window on a sunny day. Superb fish chowder.. we know where to go for an afternoon munch now, can’t wait to return to Cardigan, a great place, thriving but still with quaintness, and a good vibe. Love it!

Pleasant surprise awaits, the walk up is unprepossessing, but checking the menus How's promise, inside the welcome is warm and the choices limited to fresh ingredients. The fish platter and lobster salad were eaten small bites at a time, to savour it all. The bill was reasonable and the setting relaxing on the deck.

If you like fresh seafood, either to eat in or take away to cook yourself, this is the plaice(!) for you. We had lunch with smoked salmon, prawns & fresh crab. Good portion sizes and reasonably priced for the quality. Sit inside or out, overlooking the estuary. We then bought fresh lobster to take away - so good we returned a couple of day later for another. Well worth supporting this great local business.

Great tasting lunch, food was delicious. Fishmonger was very friendly and great with the kids. Service was a bit disappointing- no one checked if our food was okay or acknowledged us to say goodbye. We had the seafood platter, cheese platter, chowders and a 1/2 lobster. All of the food was very tasty although I felt all meals were served with far too little bread. One small slice with most things, an additional 4 small crackers with the cheese platter. Much more bread was needed- I ordered and paid for extra bread £1.50 and was given two slices cut up which was still not enough… an extra 1/3 a slice per person was still quite insufficient. Would have liked more bread- the quantity of fish or cheese on the platters doesn’t really correlate with the quantity (or lack) of bread which was a shame. These should probably be renamed as salads rather than platters. The chowder I would suggest is more of a starter than a main course- it’s quite a watery stock based one rather than a heavier creamy type. We all ended up needing to go to Greggs after as everyone was still very hungry. That being said, the fish tasted amazing.

After checking out the Facebook page and reading local advertising I decided to travel to the fishmongers. When I arrived a couple in front of me where told the item they wanted wasn’t in stock and the boat was due after 2pm but it was already after 2pm. I was asked did I have an order to collect. No! I simply wanted to buy some fish. Apparently you need to order in advance and you can’t go inside to see any fish as hubby is in isolation. I was offered a fish box that had been frozen because the weather was humid when it arrived so they decided to freeze it but it was now being defrosted. Why would I want to buy £30 of semi defrosted assorted fish. I said I didn’t eat two of the items in the box. The only other option was a completely frozen box of the same assorted fish. I was told all items coming off the boat that wasn’t really a boat as it was now in transit in a van, was to fulfil orders. I was told I could place an order for next week. It doesn’t make it clear on the Facebook page that it is orders only. The signs outside don’t make it clear either. I had a waste of a 40 mile round trip to view a black board of items not available as they were either sold out or already ordered. Don’t waste your time.

Had lunch today while visiting Cardigan. I had a slice of quiche, which was just ok. The potatoes were luke warm and greasy. The coleslaw and salad were awful. Sliced grapes with pickled beetroot? A first for me. The lettuce with a few sour cherry tomatoes and a couple of cubes of beetroot - very uninspiring. No dressing or mayonnaise offered - the waitress just dumped the food on the table and said that cutlery was 'over there'. She was gone before I could ask for anything else. The young waiting staff were very pleasant - but the older one needs to go on a customer service course. My partner's chowder was not like any other I'd seen either. The only plus was the view over the river at our table. One visit to this place was more than enough.

The only downside is not all the tables have the view we had, some are too near the car park. Free bags of used coffee grounds for compost left by the entrance / exit for customers - a nice eco / green idea more cafe's / eateries should employ, needless to say I took a bag home.

From the outside the place isn't very inviting. We have walked past several times to go to another restaurant we know. Last week that was very busy so we went back to try the Fisherman's Rest. What a pleasant surprise after entering. The place was great with lovely views over the river. There was quite an extensive menu as well as specials. The girls serving were very pleasant and helpful and our meal was served very quickly. If you are not a pet owner you might be disappointed as dogs are welcome. That didn't deter us. Will call again when we are in the area

We had a lovely family meal here - I was particularly impressed by the children's menu as often this can be unimaginative and a bit depressing, but my young sons both loved their Welsh ham sandwiches with apple, grapes and cucumber. I really enjoyed my seafood platter and my husband had a dressed crab from the specials board, delicious. The things that made it for us were the lovely view of the river, the attentive service (offer of hot water for my tea when we ordered cake) and being made to feel welcome - great for families on the look-out for something to keep everyone happy!

Stopped in cardigan for something to eat. Parked in the first car park we found, which was next to the fisherman’s rest, glad we did, I had the homemade soup (see photo) mrs had Welsh rabbit. Coffees and cakes were fab. Great view of the river. Very good prices

Lamb with mint, veggie quiche and fish fingers all very flavoured seems like homemade food, outstanding place very inviting, warm colours with the harmony of river sights in the most of the tables. One of the best experiences in Cardigan...

Great coffee shop overlooking the estuary. Very spacious so customers do not feel that they are on top of one another and also an outside terrace. The coffee is excellent.

Food was good and tasty, but what was a birthday meal let down by them having lost our reservation with no appolgy. We had to wait over an hour only to be told we would have eat in the bar. Service erratic and hit and miss. Would not return.

The Falcondale has a good location with stunning views. The waiting staff were all very good, the choice of dinner menu was very limited and not 'a la carte'. Unfortunately the quality of the Welsh breakfast was very poor.

Food was ok but the only vegetarian option available was a fake chicken breast that was hanging around in the freezer. Previous reviews said that booking was essential but we were the only ones eating there at 7.30 on a Friday evening. It was early May so maybe they don’t get busy yet and the full menu wasn’t available. Not really what we were expecting from the previous rave reviews.

The View certainly has the Wow Factor! From the comfortable, modern vibe to the fabulous hosting, Lorraine with her team made our Sunday lunchtime ( and Friday coffees) an absolute pleasure. It really did feel like the customer’s needs were at the heart of what is offered. The carvery totally reached the spot with a very reasonable price tag. What more could we have hoped for. Thank you x
