Whilst travelling for work needed a last minute place to stay and stumbled across this gem.Great rooms, comfortable beds and great hospitality . Jo was very helpful and accommodating when I arrived.

The carvery was absolutely average. For the cost it was disappointing. Mcdonald's has more taste. As someone who lives within 5 or so miles it was so poor. Will definitely not recommend

Recently had our wedding reception here after having visited a few times ourselves and loving the location/views. Fortunately had a beautiful day in mid November and all the guests commented on how gorgeous the beer garden was. Food for 120 people was from the carvery and was delicious including the few vegan/veggie options requested too. The staff were brilliant and couldn’t have done anymore to help resolve a couple of hiccups. Wanted to mention Chelsea & Amy specifically who were involved in all the planning and preparations and really helped to make our big day one to remember. All in all an absolutely fantastic day and weekend as we also filled the hotel. Thank you all.

Found ourselves nearby very early before anything was open and Sally welcomed us in and made us drinks even though they weren’t officially open. Incredible location and warm atmosphere.

I spent my honeymoon at the fisherman’s cot 34 years ago & I haven’t managed to visit since then! I met 2 of my friends halfway between Bristol & Plymouth to have lunch with you last Tuesday. The pub is still absolutely gorgeous & I will not leave it so long to visit again! The staff from beginning to end were polite & helpful. The service was just perfect. We all had fish & chips & we all thought the meal was delicious. My friends had lemon tart which they thoroughly enjoyed. I only wanted ice cream & was offered a child’s sundae which was nice but it would be better to just have ice cream on the menu & be able to choose flavours. We had coffee in the bar by the fire after lunch - it felt cosy & Christmassy. We all had a great time & will do it again next year. You have kind, responsive & hard working staff - you all did good, Thankyou 🙂

We chose a family room and it was lovely. Everything was clean, the staff were friendly and the food was great. We come here every year to celebrate our anniversary as this was our first date location!

Disappointing lack of vegan options - either curry or a burger. Curry wasn’t particularly hot (temperature) and the sweet potato cubes were undercooked/hard. Over priced at nearly £16 for a main course. Apple and cherry crumble was fine, but pretty flavourless. Good to see non-dairy milk options for hot drinks. The waiters we had gave good service, very friendly and helpful.

It’s a bit of a drive from WsM but worth it. Service was excellent and Sunday carvery was up to its usual standard. Even found a couple of pics of me and the Weston Coastguards on the ‘Wall of Remembrance’ (ok I sent them in) 🤣🤣

We had a room here in the attic. It was a cheap room. My only criticism is the shower doesn't really work as the ceiling is raked so I had to tilt my head and go in crouching position. But food and beers are really nice. If you sit in the beer garden you can watch traffic try and negotiate the medieval bridge which inspired the song Bridge over Troubled water. Nice view also of river.

Quite poor. I am dairy free. Our Waitress didn't know what the Soup of the Day was. When I then asked if it was dairy free (Butternut Squash), she went off to ask and confirmed it was. Having eaten it, I don't think it was. I had an immediate reaction, fortunately not extreme. The only other thing I had was some soda water. We asked that the soup for my wife and I be brought at the same time as the fish and chips for my father - it wasn't and was cold by the time his came. We couldn't start before him as he has dementia. The roast beef my mum had from the carvery was so tough she couldn't cut it and I found it a challenge. My fathers fish and chips were good though.

Staff were very kind pleasant and courteous as well as accommodating as we had not booked but they gave us a table with no issues the food was A Star and not unlike some other places I've been to before on top of this our was welcome and he was given a treat by a member of staff so thank you for the 100% meal

Large pub serving draft beers and ciders and food. We found a discount voucher online when booking directly with the pub for 30% off main courses. We had a really nice friendly and helpful waitress which can make a big difference to your overall experience. I was in a group of 7 and views varied a lot about the food. I had fish and chips and thought my fish was deliciously fresh but another in the group found it old and a bit chewy. Some thought the food could have been hotter. Mine was fine so the ratings are my opinion. Very good selection of drinks. I liked it and would happily go again.

Everything was a very good experience with our visit yesterday. We had a friendly greeting, shown to our table and our meal was delicious. 100% quality service all round. Katie & Hannah were serving us and they were very friendly and efficient

We went for Sunday lunch 3 Nov, the roast was delicious, the venue was packed and had amazing views of the river. Jo, Beth and Andy H could not be more attentive and were great fun to be served by. Drinks were unsurprisingly a little pricey but to be expected for the venue. Well done team 👍👏

Lovely place although busy when we attended and although early Sunday evening couldn't have the carvery as 2 meats out of 4 had ran out also no roast potatoes which was disappointing as we had booked. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Very attractive setting.

Disappointed that there was no bitter on . Food was cold could have been a lot warmer. We often visit here with family for the carvery and have always enjoyed it very much. But this visit was not so good.

We came for a last minute Sunday lunch, I hadn't booked a table & had people coming 20 mins later so I was expecting to be turned away but everyone was so accommodating and lovely, we had Sunday carvery (veggie option) and it was lovely, food was cooked perfectly and the service was great. We were served by Jo, Beth & Andy and they were all great we will definitely coming back!

Excellent service from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left. Friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you, the food was amazing and the accommodation was perfect. The pub is set in a beautiful location and we got to enjoy the views whilst we ate a breakfast that filled us up all day. We would 100% go back and are very happy after our stay.

What a beautiful place we found, right next to a weir with beautiful views from our table. The Sunday carvery we had was delicious, many of my favorite vegetables served. Will definitely be visiting again.

We stay in Devon quite often and have passed this pub many times so tonight we thought we would give it ago, well all I can say is the Staff , Food, and Service were excellent, food came quickly and the staff were very friendly and tentative we will definitely be going back again and would highly recommend this pub.

Our son and daughter in law treated us to lunch whilst on a weekend away together. We had all seen the pub and were looking forward to our meal before leaving to go our separate ways. The location is great, staff very friendly and helpful, but the food was very disappointing. 2 had carveries and found the meat very dry, vegetables quite well done in the extreme. I had the steak and ale pie, which was vey "crispy" although the veggies and chips were ok. And the hunter chicken was described as not being as good as the one my son makes. Perhaps our fault for not being there at 12.

We had booked, but the slow speed of check-in created a bottleneck. Otherwise the service and food was all you might want.

We had the most beautiful visit, we stayed in the upstairs hotel room and it was stunning, clean and comfy. The food is out of this world and the staff is incredibly friendly, and my partner proposed in private of our room making it even more magical. I will always tell this story to my future children and grandchildren. And bring the next generation to visit, thank you to all those at the fisherman's cot making everything so beautiful.

We visited for my husbands birthday, we were looking for somewhere local with good pub food and the advertised menu looked to be just that. We easily booked a table for the time and date we wanted using the online process which was very clear and simple. The pub was busy but we were seated quickly and efficiently by the host and our server arrived almost immediately to take our drinks orders. Like many places you can order from the table using an app but we like face to face so waited for our drinks to arrive before we ordered our food from our server. The drinks came quickly and we ordered at the same time. The food was good pub fare, I had gammon and my husband had pie both of which were nicely presented, hot and flavorsome. We shared a cheesecake desert as the main course portions were a good size, we thoroughly enjoyed our birthday visit. The ladies toilets were a little shabby and large areas of wall were bare where there had obviously been water ingress, I am sure this will be rectified as soon as possible and it wont stop us, we will definitely return soon.

We came down to Tiverton especially for a visit at the Fisherman's cot, because my parents use to come here for their anniversary. It's such a beautiful location and the staff are very polite. Food was absolutely delicious.

2 days I have tried to contact this pub to try and book a table and to check whether they still do the pub stopover for campers. I have rang at least 5 times, never got an answer, left a message, no one rang me back 😑 Says it all

We decided to celebrate my 25th birthday here on monday night & get a really nice dinner with just myself & my immediate family. We arrived at 7:30, our drinks order was taken & were told after 15mins of waiting that there was a bit of a back up of orders. We didn’t receive our drinks till 8pm (i only know this because i took a photo of my guinness 0.0% which arrived to me in the can & warm) & then we didn’t get our food till 8:30pm (order was taken at 7:45) We understand this isn’t fast food & it was delicious. The vegan burger was amazing & all the food did reflect the menu price. But unfortunately the service sort of let it down, i wish the team let us know there was a back up of orders. From where we were sat, there was only 1 other table of 6 in the restaurant with us, & a few tables of 4 up in section 3.. but they seemed pretty much finished. We might be back for a drink in the bar, but if we were to eat here again we’d probably get our own drinks sorted to save us waiting time.

We had a friendly welcome on our arrival and taken to our table. There was a lunchtime two course menu and a full menu available. The food arrived quickly after ordering and was hot and well presented. The Sea Bass was well cooked and the vegetables fresh. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere with a view of the River Exe.

Visited here last weekend with my family as part of our holiday to Devon. Absolutely wonderful pub. Lovely views across the river, very friendly staff and food was delightful. We had sausage & mash, fish & chips and calamari & chips. No complaints whatsoever, the food was perfect. We were served by two very lovely friendly ladies, one of which was Jo, who made us feel very welcome and made a fuss of our little terrier Toby. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

We waited to be seated as instructed, but several staff walked past without acknowledging us. We were eventually seated and moved to a quieter table as requested, which was appreciated. We set up a tab and ordered food at the bar. When our meals arrived 25 minutes later, mine was completely cold, and my husband's chips were cold too. I asked for a replacement, which arrived within 10 minutes and was delicious. The desserts took 15 minutes, and I had to ask for a clean spoon as mine was dirty. One staff member was particularly helpful, apologising and chasing the desserts. We received 30% off the mains, which was fair given the issues. Overall, it could be a great place with more attentive staff and perhaps more people on shift.

I absolutely loved everything about this place! I am a recovering hotel snob and am lucky enough to mostly stay in 5 star hotels globally, however there was just something about this place that drew me into its magical appeal! I am delighted to say that it was just as amazing as i hoped ❤️❤️❤️

Stunning location and great food

Food was below average; quality has deteriorated since we last visited, and was substantially worse than the last time we had a Sunday roast there (before the pandemic). Food was either overcooked, bland, or tasted like had been sitting under the roast buffet hot lamps for hours (stale), even though we were eating by 12:45. The wait to be served at the bar was excessive, especially given they looked half full - it makes it seem like staffing is an issue. We didn't see any wait staff tending outside near us the whole time we were there - we left with our finished plates still on the table. View was of course wonderful, and I'm pleased to say that the atmosphere was lovely, inside and out. If the food was improved upon (especially given the price paid) and staffing issues sorted (offering better wages helps!) then this would once again become a favourite haunt, and a top destination in the county.

The food was great, prepared quite fast as well, we did not have to wait long. I liked that I could scan the barcode on the table and order without waiting at the bar. Beautiful environment next to the river and very well kept outside. Only negative for me was the prices, not massively expensive but a tad pricey for my liking, we got two burgers, half pint of cider and a small glass of wine ant it got up to £44

Always visit the Fisherman's Cot when on holiday and have done so for the last 40 years. The Sunday carvery is gorgeous and reasonably priced, for 1 Large roast and 2 medium it was £48. The food is always fresh and tastes delicious. Well worth a visit even to just have a drink and watch the world go by !!

Beautiful location, lots of parking. Normal menu is OK.. Bit pricey for portion size/menu options. Sunday roast is about the same price but calvery with big meat portions, much better than standard menu which is good but not excellent!

Great food and service. Really nice watching the river. However, the restuarant could have done with a clean, quite a bit of dust and cobwebs in the corner we were seated in.

The Fisherman's Cot is in a beautiful location. The room was spacious, although the bathroom could be updated. However, the room was clean and parking was convenient. We also enjoyed our meal and the price was fair. Thanks for your hospitality. We will be back.

The Fishermans Cot is a fantastic place to stay, we have already recommended some of our friends to come and enjoy the atmosphere and great food. We haven't been in such a busy pub for years. The staff were very helpful and hard working. We'll be back next year. Apart from meat there are fish and shell fish options on the menu. The beer selection is very good and well kept too.
