This is the best chippy I have been to and I have been to a lot. There are so many options for what to get, I wanted it all I came with my friends and we will definitely be visiting again soon. Ice cream and milkshakes are the best!!💯 100% recommend

This is a great chippy. It is by far the best one I have ever been to. The fish supper was amazing and there was a wide variety of ice cream flavours. The service was great. I highly recommend.

Not the cheapest chippy especially for the small amount of chips and small size of the fish.

Thanks guys the food was average, super spicy chicken fillet burger (not spicy) but still nice, skyscraper burger was ok too much for a tiny roll (wrong sauce) but still nice, the battered pizza & battered sausages & chicken nuggets went down a treat we the kids cheers guys.

Got food out here Tuesday night and been in bed ill since constantly sick think use should make sure the food and kebab meat is cooked right

Absolutely disgusting! No wonder they had no customers, the fish was tiny, pizza was folded and ripped, not even cut in half, chips weren't even cooked, what a waste of money! Service was shocking, no smile, no interaction, nothing!

I have used this restaurant on many occasions the haddock is always delicious you never get a bad supper it’s very consistent can recommend

Excellent service. Fish is very good. However for us the chips are a bit underdone and pale. Could do with extra few minutes in the fryer. Mushy peas are very good!

Just went to grab something quick to eat and the food was absolutely disgusting. The fish was more like chicken so not sure how long it's been lying it wasn't fresh and flakey, the batter was soggy and not very nice at all. The kebab meat was clearly left over from yesterday as it looked "cooked" before it was put on spit to then be put on it for no more than 5 minutes to be reheated then taken back off again. The chips were very very dry and again not sure when they were actually cooked but tasted reheated. Overall absolutely shocking the way the food is cooked here never mind how long it's been lying and all went in the bin complete waste of money

Worst fish and chips I've ever had. Chips were so brick hard they were inedible, and the batter on the fish was undercooked. The portions are small and overpriced. Avoid this place!

After a few months break we decided to give this another chance. Wish we hadn't bothered. Over cooked and inedible chips. Menu in the shop also differs from on on-line meno so paid more than expected.

A chip shop like no other.... not in a good way. Nearly £10 for fish supper and 1 piece of fish. £7.25 for pizza supper in batter. Lucky if the pizza was an 8" pizza. Not to mention paying 25p for salt and vinegar. Chips were soggy and overly greasy. Batter was chewy and pizza undercooked. Can't comment on the fish as when I asked the difference in size, due to price. I was shown 2 boxes. When I asked about the amount of fish. (As majority of chip shops give small 1 piece. Regular 2 pieces.) I was told they put half chips and 1 piece of fish. TL/DR - not worth the money for the portions or quality. Far better chip shops at not a great distance more.

The serving girl was disinterested, bored and had the charisma of a nut. Although to be fair she looked like a teen so thats to be expected. The darker female was lovely and even smiled. I wanted out of there. Chips were OK and the fish could of been cooked a little longer but it was big. Good ice cream selection but couldn't buy any as my son wanted to try to get onto the road and the aforementioned server opened the door again after I shut it which was highly annoying. Not going back.

Food over priced not a chippy at all

Nice fresh fish and chips. I had the haddock it was good and good value for money. I small tip is to ask for your chips and fish separate as I noticed the chips that came with the fish wasn’t much compared with the chips I ordered by itself. I think it’s because of the box they used to put it in.

Food was outstanding. First time I've had red donner meat. Very spicy. Portions were very good value for money, 3 battered Sausages in an order of sausage and chips for a fiver. Menu was interesting as a southerner, deep fried pizza, black pudding and chips. Cracking choices. The ice cream looks outstanding too.

Can’t believe how bad this chippy has become in the space of months. Had an order tonight and it was genuinely vile. The only thing remotely edible was the chips. Chip shop curry sauce isn’t chip shop curry sauce, its like water. Fritters tasted like flowers, sausages had soggy batter and were absolutely tasteless. Will 100% never use the place again. Horrific.

Disgusting soaked in grease don't do normal sized sausages they give you 3 wee s#@#e half sized ones batter is soggy all round s#!*e chippy try foretell or blue lagoon best ones in town

Was here for tea one night, as I was at Craig Tara. Food was excellent and service was first class. Shop was very clean and well looked after, and staff were friendly and professional. Lots to pick from the menu, so cater for a variety of tastes. Has ample parking spaces, which is round the back of the premises. If I'm ever back in the area, will definitely be visiting again.

Just bought from this place 3 quarter pizza in batter with chips and the pizza is still very raw and the batter is soggy will no be back very bad experience do not recommend even chips taste a bit funky wish could go and throw it back in the door

Best chips I've had so far in the area, by far, fresh, hot, with a little crisp. I tried Forehill Cafe a few weeks later, the chips were greasy, a little soggy, with a few hard ones, yet they've got similar reviews somehow.

Used to be good when Jim Jacks, decent portions,price and quality Now since changed hands - the food is poor quality, prices much inflated while portion size much reduced. Shame as now have to travel into town rather than dine locally. Have been many times, sadly not once off - each time same. Tried again - even more awful than before - the half pizza supper - barely any chips and the pizza wasn’t cooked. The 4 fritters were 4 slices of soggy potato with absolutely no batter coating at all - just a soggy mess - DO NOT EAT HERE

Lovely fish n chips, and probably the best curry sauce I've ever had at a chippy 👍 (it's a takeaway so didn't do an atmosphere rating)

Fish portion seems to have got smaller since the last time I was here 3 years ago. Decent grub but not as good as previous visit.

Popped in while stay at Craig Tara, The shop was lovely and clean, the fish, chicken nuggets and sausage were nice, the chips could have been cooked a little longer tho!! The young girl working needs to work on her customer skills and learn to smile.

Edit: had previously rated this 5 stars but not sure if ownership or manager change recently. Certainly not the same place anymore. Got a sausage supper and the batter was raw, it was inedible for me. Chips were greasy and tasteless. Unfortunate as it was so handy for us but would rather venture into the town centre now and go elsewhere than take the risk. Portion sizes have also significantly reduced. Original: Fresh, large portions. Couldn't fault it. Lovely light batter and tasty fish.

Got 2 bags of chips last night rank and greasy . Also asked for tattie fritters not the batter fritters a got would of been nice with some tattie in it all in all tasteless. Will be sticking to AJ place from now on

2rd time using this shop and have come to the conclusion its a FISH and chip shop! Last time we had fish and chips and it was lovely, this time we had a scampi supper, a black pudding supper and a chicken burger and chips! Well the scampi and chips was lovely, unfortunately the rest was plain disgusting the black pudding was greasy and pappy no flavour at all and nearly no batter, the chicken burger (asked for salad and sauce) was a pathetic excuse a cheap chicken burger from farmfoods/Iceland not nice at all, cheap rubbish the salad was a tiny bit of lettuce and one huge lump of cucumber, and a blob of mayo only thing I could taste was the cucumber! Also unless you like your food absolutely drowning in salt and vinegar i would ask for it without, portion sizes for price also very small, all in all a waste of £20

Had the Large fish tonight and it was delicious The Batter Light and Crispy. Fish cooked to perfection deserved the 5 stars as does the Frier will defo be back

Had battered Haggis and chips from here when we stayed at Craig Tara Holiday Park about 5 minutes drive away. Food was freshly cooked, hot and the batter was perfectly crisp. Highly recommended!

Still the best fish and chip shop I've found in Scotland. The haddock is amazing and you get a lovely chunky fillet, not the usual angel cut that most places serve. Chips also delicious. I just wish I lived closer 😔

Hello, unfortunately tonight my dinner has been ruined. I was about to tuck in to a lovely looking half pizza crunch and the plastic wrapper has been left on it. I've attached photos for your attention. I await your communication in regards to this. Order number 67 and it was ordered tonight at 7 30ish.

45 minute wait for a couple of pokes of chips. Unbelievable!

Great value great sized portions especially considering price when compared to much more expensive chip shops, Irish curry sauce version is loved by my wife so much so we used to travel to anstruther for similar but now will travel to aye instead hours drive from our home to ayr worth it each time!!!!

Wouldn’t recommend. They don’t listen to the order you give them, the so called customer service received leaves a lot to be desired. Would rather give Dino’s my money in future and that is exactly what I will be doing

Was far better food and service when it was Jim Jacks. Burgers were rock hard, bone dry and tasteless. Service slow and disorganised despite not being busy.

Trying to do too many different types of food. It was better as just a Fish and Chip 2 years ago.

We are up here on holiday and thought we would give this spot a go as we passed it on the way in. We got a total of six meals, three which were ok, not great but ok. Avoid the gravy like the plague this is not normal chip shop gravy it resembles something like cloudy dishwater no thickness too it what so ever. The mushy peas well there not so mushy, again very runny and the peas were hard. Chips were ok, sausages were horrible we left all of them, it might be the way they do things up this neck of the woods but all the sausages were battered which they don’t state on website, anyway wasn’t too fussed about that as batter could be removed but they were horrible, very tough to eat and chewy. The fish was ok, one of my daughters got the big haddock which to be fair looked very nice and tasted nice too, the cod were ok but a bit mushy. If we wasn’t on holiday and it wouldn’t of meant a drive back, I would of definitely returned 3 of the meals and demanded a refund as we didn’t even eat apart from a few chips as the rest was ruined by the cloudy dishwasher we poured on top. The spot itself is very clean, a good online ordering service, I am sure some people would find it ok, but for us it was a waste of £50 and left three of us still hungry.

One of the better fish and chip shops, tasty fish that actually tastes like fish , decent batter with a good crunch and no oil flowing out to choke you with like many of the cheaper and less diligent chippys. Well cooked chips, fried in decent oil I would surmise - girlfriend is now a regular she likes it that much and she is hard to please!

Fantastic chippy 3 years ago Returned visit last week. Fish batter was undercooked, fritters were just all batter no potatoes inside. Definitely not worth the price and won't be visiting them again in the future

Nice staff, clean tidy shop, l had just driven about 4 hours non stop, was starving, saw this shop, lovely, food delicious, well cooked and prepared really nice, and salt n vinegar sir, no sauce. Here haha

Not bad at all. Too much salt and vinegar on my wife's chips but I did say 'put loads on.' Not used to be taken at my word! I was last customer in, I didn't realise that I had caught them just before closing until a few moments before they handed me the bag when a lad started mopping around me. Food was pretty good, not the best I have had but good.

Food was ok, visiting from Ireland and the young staff on the counter was just plain rude, constantly laughing and at one point I hear her mention my weight! Kept looking at me and looking away then laughing. Her eyelashes would take her away if we had a bit of wind too!! Wouldn’t be back

These are what fish and chips are meant to be. Don't take too long to eat them as they are piping hot and the boxes will get soggy from condensation

Watch the seagulls they rate fish plus chips too. Put my fish supper on the roof of my car to open the door. A seagull knocked it of the roof in a split second and his mates joined in

What an amazingly lovely place run by lovely people. My husband was stuck out for the night in his truck with no food somewhere on the A77 and these guys happily took the order and set off to find him. Hubby reports the food was beautiful - we honestly cannot thank you enough!!

Drove down to this shop looking forward to our dinner was absolutely disgusting never again don't know how people say irs lovely but then I come from Glasgow

I went here and ordered using their very organised queuing system. Everything went well up until the collection point when the manager realised he had charged me for a cheese slice on my chips n cheese roll, and not a standard grated cheese portion. He then instead of accepting the error, charged me a further £1 before giving me my already paid for full order. He was fairly rude to numerous customers, in person and on the phone while I was there, at one point he started shouting at a customer and smashed the phone down. I was intending to return later in the evening for a two scoop ice cream tub, but didn't bother after experiencing some of the the worst service I have experience in a chippy.

Food was ok although I prefer cod to haddock,queing outside is a pain.

Very good we all enjoyed the meal and will try ice cream the next time as looked the part

Must be new owners, normally go everything normally great, tonight haddock supper was Cod, chips overcooked to crisps , batter on cod sweaty greasy, fish tasteless and 70p for cheap tartare sauce , wont be back awful

Big choice and a clean venue which was busy. Portions were average at best, although is probably reflected in the reasonable prices to be fair. Fish and chips was nice. The battered pizza (had to try it!) was plain bad, sorry. Don't waste your money on it, the pizza was clearly a cheap substandard thing rather than made on site.

Everytime in in ayr or up at the caravan, i need the fish cakes... Who do you buy them off?.. Also can ypu mix up yer curry sauce n not have it as a sweet one?

This wee place was a gem to find on a long drive! We stopped off for a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised! There wasn't too long a wait considering the amount of people waiting. Amazing value for money, good portion size. Best chips I've had in a long time and the fish was fresh with amazing batter! Could not fault the place in any way. Will definitely be back if we are ever in the area again!

Just picked up an order. Had to wait which was fine but in this time I returned to car with juice and purse. Back to the shop received my order asked for cuterly and was advised 5p for this. 1) never been charge for takeaway cuterly ever so my in my opinion this is extremely poor. 2) I had no money as I returned my purse to the car therefore couldn’t buy any cuterly there and then to eat the takeaway that I drove from east Ayrshire to buy! Won’t be back due for this.
