Fish & Chips Cafe Bar in Torbay

Well. I want to say something nice but it's hard. Everything was bland, cheesy fries is some kind of joke and prices are not matching the quality, there is room for improvement but it's better to be tourist trap

I recently visited a fish & chips bar in Torquay, and it was a complete letdown. The batter was greasy, heavy, and tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. The chips were bland, soggy, and clearly not made with fresh potatoes. To make matters worse, the service was slow and unfriendly, and the staff seemed disinterested. Overall, I would not recommend it if you’re looking for quality fish and chips.

The fish was okay, it was very oily and heavy although i dont recommend getting the scones as one came still frozen. I asked for them to take it back to heat it up and the woman at the cash register gave us a dirty look. Luckily, the scones came back fine and were good. Unfortunately i wont be coming back here as i didnt feel welcome to eat there.

Atrocious chips. Didn’t even eat them. Small portion and tasted old. Avoid

Chips were under cooked, 50p for the worst sachet of ketchup. I didn’t realise you could even under cook chips.

First time having fish and chips since in England and probably the last time. It was all dirty, greasy and limp. I wouldn't feed it to my dog ​​yet. The lady behind the bar was also grumpy. A lot of money wasted because it is also expensive.

Small portions, very expensive, soggy batter and chips. Very disappointing. Worth paying more and going up the promenade a little.

No wonder why they have all 1 🌟! Fish is restless , fish was awfully I don’t think they actually make the batter - feels soggy , greasy. Don’t waste your money go somewhere else.

Usual fish and chips shop stuff. Seating in and outside. Spent most of the week looking for a jacket spud, and here it is!

Absolutely disgraceful prices, £16 for 2 regular chips & a sausage. Charged me a quid for 4 tiny sauces.

Fish itself was to ok very expensive for what you actually get which is not a lot,The batter was swimming in grease, Bill doesn't come with item amount on it, just the item, I get the feeling they do this on purpose.To top it off they then charge you 50p for a sachet of tomato sauce, I'm all for businesss making money but they are taking the mick £3 of 6! woman on the till need to cheer up was really a bit rude manors cost nothing at the end of the day...

If I could I would give no star to this place . My experience was absolutely awful for a fish and chips restaurant for 12.50 large cod . You have to buy sachets of tartare sauce or any other sauce for 20 pence . It’s not about the money but it’s a very cheap way to make extra money . As far as I know fish and chips comes with lemon as well . They did not had any lemon and my missus found hair in her fish . I was refunded just my missus fish and chips but not mine . I can’t eat my fish without lemon . Anyways the atitudine of staff was let’s say not what I expected and I could go far and say that this was one of the most horrible experiences in a fish a chips shop .

Came here yesterday and just want to thank the woman who was working who helped me so much when my brand new shoes got covered in curry sauce by another customer. She was very kind and helped me a lot - if you’re reading this thank you the stain has come out thanks to you!! The food was lovely (ironically the curry sauce was especially delicious)

Went there in Aug 2023 and it was great, back again 8 weeks later and what a downturn. Staff laughing at customers, food literally swimming in fat (there was a pool of it in the tray) portion size half of what it had been and when asked why wasn't it in a box they had the front to say they had gotten rid of cardboard boxes and replaced them with plastic trays to 'protect the environment' Never seen a reputation go downhill so fast.

From being overcharged for a mini F&C when i asked for a kids in the bucket for a clearly advertised lower price. Receiving almost the same amount of chips in a large portion as there was in that mini portion. The younger staff being told off in front of everyone for raising his voice to call out food was ready when no-one listened the first 2 times. To the fact that by the time we literally crossed the road and sat on one of the nearest benches the food was cold, the batter was rubbish AND the vinegar barely had a taste... Not impressed. This place has gone WAY down hill. We won't be walking to the end to get scran again when there are several on the way to the beach that are now way better.

Nice fish, battered well, but a small portion. 12 chips on the plate is poor. When asked if that was a usual portion of chips the waitress pointedly replied ‘yes, do you want me to show you?’. With watered down vinegar and sauce sachets 40p each, this place is worth avoiding with so many other fish ‘n’ chip places in town.

Not a scratch on what Fishernados was. Chip portions to small although the chips are ok. The problem is the fish batter is not good enough. Perhaps we were spoiled by the old owners, they definitely knew their stuff and and in my eyes were number 1 in the bay.
