Firtrees Restaurant in Wirral

During recent visit noted that standards had slipped. The breakfast was poor, and left unfinished. The staff although efficient, were not as welcoming, or as friendly as on previous visits. The only positive was that the coffee was good, although the lack of availability of cream was disappointing.

Good portions, very cheap. Nice thick cut bacon. It’s a hospital Cafe at the end of the day so a lot of the customers are going through some crisis or other.

It is a few months sinnce my last visit and I was looking forward to the breakfast, but what a disappointment! The food was OK but it was served in a deep chip shop type poly carton, "we haven't got any plates", and they no longer do a fried egg, just scrambled, which was watery. The cutlery is now the very thin, flimsy & cheap wooden stuff. The knife wouldn't cut butter and the fork was so blunt you couldn't stick it in to anything to pick it up, i,e; bacon etc and because it was straight it was awkward trying to scoop food up from the bottom of the deep tray. It was so difficult to eat in one of these trays with hopeless wooden cutlery that the whole thing was cold half way through. Sorry, but I didn't expect 5 star service in a hospital cafe, but this was just awful and I won't be going back. I dread to think how anyone will manage trying to eat a proper dinner with these awful trays and cutlery. It used to be a pretty good cafe, and to be fair, the food was OK and very reasonably priced, but if it is so awful to eat with chip shop trays and flimsy wooden cutlry it ruins the experience and I would rather not bother in future.

It's handy for a good meal after physio

Really nourishing food and a great range of menu. They were so busy today but never too busy to help with a smile. Would give them 10 out of ten

Brilliant little canteen at clatterbridge hospital. Not many of these left. Good quality (but simple) food at very reasonable prices.

Fantastic food at affordable prices and good portion sizes, too. I've got to day. I didn't think mcdonalds hash browns could be beaten, but Firtrees definitely are the best

I go every week... buy lovely food freshly cooked and perfect staff ... only downfall people bring their own food and drink also from Starbucks as its a picnic area. . It's disrespectful to people who buy food and drink for very reasonable prices

It's a hospital restaurant. Great food and prices are fab too.

Hash brown, scrambled eggs, beans, mushroom for £1.80. And the quality of food was excellent. Pleasant clean eating area. 5 stars.

Actually an excellent restaurant. Good choice, good prices, great food. Absolutely head and shoulders above the awful restaurant in Arrowe Park. So good I'd go to Clatterbridge Hospital just to eat at that restaurant

I stopped in to kill some time for an appointment. I grabbed a few items for breakfast and a coffee. The food was as you would expect, and the coffee was nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Very friendly, great menu, good sized portions and very affordable! Go there for breakfast and lunch and usually a takeaway for evening meal. Brilliant!

Good choice of lunchtime food and efficient service at Firtrees. Spacious dining area. Better than most hospital catering facilities. Recommended.

One of the good reasons to visit Clatterbridge Hospital is this restaurant. Lovely food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and very clean.

Had a lovely meal of steak pie chips and gravy with garden peas and it was very reasonably priced and staff where very helpful and friendly. Would definitely go back.

The perfect dining experience for a hospital worker or visitor and patient. Great, high quality choice at a very reasonable price - in fact it's cheap!

As far as Hospital Canteens go it's one of the best I've eaten in. They do lots of home cooked full meals as well as the usual snacks & sandwiches etc. You can always tell it's good when the "Consultants' eat in there as well..!

Have been to this restaurant many times on hospital appointment days. Had different meals such as breakfast, lunches, snacks or just a cuppa and have never been disappointed. The staff are really friendly, the food is spot on and the restaurant always clean. If you are ever at Clatterbridge Hospital pop in and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed

Nice breakfast (self serve) and lunch is as much as or less than the sandwich deal at the WRVS. Set options change daily but need to be early for some things as they get busy at lunchtime
