Love the fish and chips in First Plaice as the cod and batter melt to the mouth with generous portion of chunky chips. Highly recommended!

Crispy and well fried fish. It is huge and delicious. The chips are homemade style. They are large portion. It is highly recommended to dine in or to take away for the meals.

Great service and great tasting fish and chips

I have been going here for years, (whenever I am back in the area). It is consistently the best fish and chips I've had anywhere and unbeaten for quality, value (the large cod is LARGE) and service.

Decided to close on Saturday night even though it said on the website it was open. No way to run a business. As this is not the first time came over to find out it was closed, doubt I'll bother again.

Their fish and chips are the absolute best. The batter is thin and crisp, chips large and fluffy. Very generous portions too.

First Plaice in my opinion is still the best fish and chips shop in the area. I use the one near Tricketts, the one in Westmoors and the one at Parley Cross as a comparison. The only improvment I would suggest is crisping the chips up more. Tonight mine looked quite anemic. Tbh the only place i've found does decent chips is the forum frier in Blandford. Aside from that - I had cod. Batter decent and light. You dont get that heavy feeling like some shops. It's decent but please sort out the chips ✌️

Had home delivery of Fish & Chips plus fishcakes, pea fritters & breaded mushrooms. Everything was delivered within 20 minutes, all piping hot. The cod was chunky with fantastic light batter and the chips were perfect. This is by far the best fish and chip shop I have ever used and with home delivery available it is fantastic service from all the staff who are always very friendly and helpful.

Best fish n chippy dinner ever . Passing through on way back to London with family, stopped here for a spot of dinner. Absolutely blown away by the quality, portion sizes and efficient service. Can safely say the best fish n chips we have had anywhere !! and believe me I've tried alot of places.

Ordered by phone ,told would be 35mins.Arrived and food not ready.Had to wait 20mins for it to be ready.Enjoyed food when we got home.

First time here. The portion sizes are enormous. I can honestly say that I have never tasted batter so light and delicate. Was really impressed and will be back.

I have been a regular customer since the current owners took over but today I tried the home delivery service for the first time. Have tried a couple of local Fish and Chip shops. This has been the best and consistent. Their cod and chips is excellent. We will be regulars. The staff there are friendly and polite.

These are certainly the best Fish and Chips you could have. The fish is perfectly cooked with crispy clean batter, but beware of the LARGE Fish, it is truely huge! The chips are cooked to perfection, they are not greasy, and there is a great variety of sizes so if you like the small crispy ones - they're there, if you like the wholesome fat chips - they're there. The large chips will feed an ordinary family of 4!!

I really don't know why I haven't reviewed the First Plaice before, as we have used them a number of times since we moved to the area, but I was looking online on Friday to check opening times and only then realised that they have a TripAdvisor listing. So, after another lovely takeaway fish & chip supper, now is the time! The staff are lovely; friendly, polite and efficient. All covid protections are in place. The fish is lovely, with a light crispy batter and with lovely chips. The portions are generous and the value, particularly for the senior citizens deal, is excellent! Possibly the best fish & chip shop I have ever come across. Looking forward already to my next visit!

Seniors fish and chips is great

This is without doubt the best takeaway in the Bournemouth Poole area . Fresh cooked to order ,perfect white fish.. fab light batter & crisp chips.. this is in my opinion every bit as good & possibly a little better vthan the Famous Chez Fred at Westbourne.. The only downsize is the lack of parking BUT you can always ise the Tesco car park opposite.. jus wish they were open on a monday.. nearly forgot to mention the service is tip top, friendly & efficient .

Visit this chippy often at lunchtime. I go for the senior citizens special with the fish in breadcrumbs. Top quality fish and tasty chips. Always offered lemon slice but being old fashioned I go for salt and vinegar. Very friendly staff and I can confidently recommend a visit

Excellent quality fish freshly cooked to order and the best chips in the whole of Ferndown and surrounding area. Fast and friendly service. The best Fish & Chip shop I have ever visited, and I have tried all of them in this area over many years as well as in other parts of the U.K.. Have now been to this shop over 12 times and never been disappointed.
