First place is a local fish and chip shop we visited many times over the past 20 years. During that time it has been operated by various different owners/managers with varying degrees of tastiness and efficiency. Today we were pleasantly surprised to see the new owners and requested our usual fish, chips and mushy peas. We always ask for small portions, but we really couldn’t have eaten anymore of this delicious food. In the terminology of an old TV advert from many years ago, the food looked good, tasted good and my goodness it went down well.

Visited today at 1.15.pm for first time whilst visiting. Food was disappointing although fish cooked fresh. Fish was grey, batter soggy, battered sausage seemed warmed up, not freshly cooked, and didnt seem clean oil. Phoned at 4.30 because then closed until this time.. Spoke.to owner about disappointment of food after spending hard earned money, and very politely requested refund I Was told aggressively to bring food back. I was by this time 2 hours away after only visiting Winchester. I ordered food at 1.15 pm and was unable to return food because not open again until 4.30. was bombarded with abuse, that I was a cruel nasty bad lady, and that I wasn't even a lady. and it's people like me who are wanting to close small businesses down? I Was then told quite aggressively that I am on camera??? I am utterly taken aback by this fish shop owners reaction to my dissapointment of food . She was not prepared to listen to me in any shape or form. It has given me no choice but to write this review. If she had taken the time to listen. Maybe sadly she needs to understand this behaviour was very upsetting and accusations of my character disgraceful.

Oh yes you can!!! Well it is pantomime season and the fish and chips are definitely something you should leave behind you, in fact its leaving my behind as I type. Must have been the amount of grease they battered the fish into. Oh no it's not, I hear you say. Oh yes it was.

Stopped here on our way into Winchester after a long day out. Just what the Dr ordered. We didn't know about ordering in advance & the staff were very accommodating and served us within minutes despite 3 others waiting. The portions and quality of the fish were impressive & despite only ordering chips for one, there were more than enough for two. No complaints at all.

Anaemic, soggy, misshapen chips probably been sitting there for a long time. Making decent chips is not always easy and needs time. They should be fresh, hot, crisp and soft inside. They always need at least two cookings and the starch needs to be reduced. If you can't be bothered, then why make them at all?

I don't know how they can get a kebab so wrong. Dry, unflavoured. Expensive. We all had the chicken souvlaki and none of us finished them. I barely ate mine. It's literally dry pitta bread. With dry skewered chicken in it. Some unseasoned salad next to it. The dips all come separately. I ended up getting a GDK on the way after the gig we had been too as i was so hungry.
