Often drove past and always a queue, tonight we decided to go ,parked right outside door and only 2 people in there,we put a order in for 2 of us and we had to wait a while,I realised its all cooked fresh and worth the wait,best chips I have ever had ,my partner said the same ......Real gem.

Generous portions of excellent fish and chips. Need to order and wait, but then get freshly cooked delicious fish. Most fish and chips in the U.K. is not great, so this is a great find. Diolch yn fawr am y sgodyn a sglodion ardderchog

Top notch, best fish and chips around and the drinks are ice cold, da iawn! Would definitely recommend and the prices are great, staff are friendly.

Excellent fish and chips - the fish was cooked fresh in front of us and the chips were delicious- crispy, not soggy at all like chop shop chips can be sometimes. Will definitely be back!

After a 45 minute wait on a rainy Monday we were served chips that had solidified in the fat. £3-60 for a portion that would have been better used to build a wall they were that over fried. Save your money go elsewhere.

We've eaten fish & chips from many takeaways, over the years, but we both agreed that this was the very best, by a country mile! The cod is freshly cooked to order, but well worth the wait, it was substantial & succulent, and the chips were made from quality potatoes, and very, very tasty. I was extremely impressed by the courteous service, and will certainly return, when in the area.

Fish cooked fresh & was very nice but large portion of chips was huge & far too much for us & perhaps a bit over cooked

These are the best fish and chips I have ever had. No wonder the queue was out the door well worth the ten minutes wait. You could tell the chips were real scrubbed potatoes oh my I can taste them now don’t ever change your recipe

A great Fish n Chip shop in Ruthin, all food items cooked to order fresh, and a great secret recipe Fried Chicken choice spices the standard Fish n Chip menu up. Staff are attentive and fast, lovely fast food at reasonable prices.

Just stopped in Ruthin on way from Newtown to Brenig. Last minutr decision to get fish & chips for tea. A few minutes to wait from ordering but well worth it. Fish was cooked perfectly in golden crispy batter & chips very niceky cooked too. Highlyrecommended

Wanted a chippy in Ruthin to nip into on way to walking the dogs in Clocaenog forest. Big smile from the young staff on the counter when walking in which is always nice and made a good first impression. Chips were nice and crispy which I much prefer, and it looks like both the fish and the chips are cooked for a little longer than most places, which suits me fine. If anything the fish was fractionally overcooked, but it was very tasty (I'm guessing it was haddock rather than cod, but I'm no expert) and it was nice to have really crisp batter for a change. Loses a star as it took forever to do the food (20 minutes+). I know they like to cook to order for freshness, but with the turnover of customers (it was quite busy even on a Weds evening), they could keep a couple of fish in the hotplate thing and they wouldn't be around long. So, overall very good indeed, with friendly staff, and definitely the best F&C I've had for a while, but don't think you can just nip in and grab something (unless they let you order ahead of course). Fractionally more expensive than other chippies, but more than worth it. Will definitely be returning.

This is a very good traditional British chippy. We paid £7.40 each for fish, chips and a can. Reasonable value for good food. The fish is cooked to order, rather than sitting waiting, so it takes a while to be produced - but is worth it. The chips are all fresh from potatoes rather than bought frozen and then cooked. Real food.

Go here quite regularly, food is always great and they’ve always got ice cold drinks too. The curry sauce on chips is gorgeous and the staff are all friendly and helpful.

Lunedì sera, tutto chiuso, che fare? Fish & chips! Locale semplice e caratteristico, frequentato soprattutto dagli abitanti del posto. Porzioni super abbondanti e tutto ben preparato. Insomma, una cena di fortuna che si è rivelata una ottima scelta.

Any time of the evening there is to be had perfect fish and chips, it is a great place to go for all things 'chippy' and I recommend it.

Well Well Well what a disapointment. Stoped here last week while pasing throug Ruthin and if this is meant to be the best chippy in Ruthin then ill make sure i drive to the next town next time i feel like chips.The chips were bland and dry just like they had been reheated from the day before, the curry which was meant to be hot and spicy was no better than water and some curry powder in, you could actually taste the water, the sausages were hard and dry very overcooked.Had we not driven up the road to the car park i would have taken them back.Must be the worst chippy i've ever had and i will not be returning here.

We were visiting Ruthin and decided to give this chippy a go, and I’m glad this is where we decided on going because it was delicious. Fresh fish and chips, good value and good taste.

A Saturday night visit resulted in 7 portions of Fish & Chips resulted in all being delightfully satisfied. Freshly prepared, with a light thin batter,clinging tastefully to a lovely fish. Quality, tasty and flipping good value. Defo be back !

I walked into this chippy on a Monday night and I have to say I was extremely disappointed with the service, food quality and most of all the time that it took to make.

While staying in the area,decided to give this place ago. What a great choice,delicious fish n chips ,melted in the mouth. Highly recommend.

We visited Finns whilst in the area on holiday and would highly recommend the fish and chips. The food is cooked to order so there is a 15 minute wait but it tastes very good. We have passed a couple of times and it always seems very busy. The only slight confusion when you walk in is who is next in the queue because the customers waiting for their orders seem to get mixed up with the new customers coming in. The staff seem to know who's who though so it is not really a problem - just a bit awkward when you walk in for the first time.

I visit this chippy at least twice a week. Usually when working near by. Sometimes I go with my family. Lovely staff. Beautiful food. And HUGE portions. Definitely get what you pay for. I live near another chip shop in town. But will always walk the extra 10/15 minutes to Finns. Always beautiful and fresh!

Called to Finns again having been in the past and it's close to the skate park we take our kids to. Very busy when we arrived which is always a good sign if it's popular with the locals. The large portion of chips was more than generous and we waited for the fish to be cooked. This was a good thick piece of haddock with thin and crispy batter. My friend tried the homemade hot curry which was very tasty and just enough kick to it, will go for that myself next time! Smiling and friendly staff who were polite and helpful. Love Finns

Siempre vamos a Finn's para comidas para llevar. El pescado está recién hecha, así que no importa la espera. Las patatas fritas son crujientes y una porción muy generosa, así que conseguir uno entre dos. El personal es muy amable, funcionaba como un gran equipo y todo se ve limpio y ordenado.

Went with a friend on Monday 3rd of April at 12 am. Fish were cooked while we waited and looked a nice large size. Took the fish and chips out and ate them in the park. My fish looked good and the batter was nice...

Decidió llevar a cenar. Patatas fritas pescado ordenados 2 x n. Estas no habían sido recién preparados. Cuando comíamos en eran absolutamente repugnante. El bateador era que oscuro habían sido resumen preparado, seco y sin sabor. Sólo que nos 10 minutos me los tomaron de atrás.

Siempre dan una buena para llevar de los finlandeses. A veces la empanada de pescado es un poco grasiento, depende de con quién se está cocinando. En la mejor zona.

Enjoyed a good freshly prepared fish and chips... this take away popular with many customers while I was there. All Welsh restaurants and cafes and take aways get official hygiene ratings. Very good hygiene standards at Finns getting the 5 out of 5 rating, unlike some nearby.

After waiting quite a while for my fish and chips on Friday evening I thought they would be nice and fresh. Got home and the fish was awful, no taste, stale batter, very disappointing.

We used the 2015 Daily Post competition for the best fish and chip shop in North Wales as an inspiration for days out.We waited until having tried all ten contenders before posting any reviews.We visited Ruthin with the sole purpose of visiting Finns.The premises were clean and the staff were friendly and efficient.They were busy when we called which is normally a good sign.We didn't have to wait as everything was freshly cooked and ready.We ordered one haddock, one cod, one peas and one curry sauce.Unusually we were offered a choice of mild or hot curry - we chose hot.The fish were presented in grease proof paper, the chips in a polystyrene carton, well wrapped in paper.The fish were a generous size, with thin crispy batter on haddock, thicker batter on cod which was slightly greasy but not overly so. The chips were also a very good size portion. The "hot" curry sauce was delicious, the peas were fine.Complimentary forks were available.To sum up, the fish were really good, the chips deserve particular praise, both for the quantity and quality - right up there with the best chips we had, the curry sauce really nice.Finns is definitely one of the best from the top 10 list - if ever we can justify a trip to Ruthin again in the future we will call again.Haddock 10/10Cod 8/10Chips 10/10Curry Sauce 10/10Peas 10/10Thank you.

I love a good chicken burger over fish any day. So we went here. My burger bun was obviously defrosted from frozen and was still cold and soggy in the middle. It wasn't nice at all. To be fair to the place, we went in again, explained about the burger bun and asked for a chicken burger again. Even after telling them, my next bun was cold and soggy in the middle again. So, I won't be going again. Go next door to Ruthin Pizza!

Best fish and chip shop around. Good food and reasonably priced. Best in rhuthun by a mile. Happy staff and excellent service don't go anywhere else. No need.

Good fresh well prepared food, wide range of food on offer and friendly service. Always freshly prepared, even if you have to wait a little longer when busy, which it usually is, which is a good sign!

Fish and chips on a Friday night on the way from the Parky to the Boar's Head. They were wonderful. Fresh, light, and really crisp. The service was very friendly as usual and there wasn't too long to wait even though it was a busy time. Very good!

I visit the shop very often and the fish and chips are always perfect! Everyhing made fresh. Delicious!

2nd visit to this lovely town, decided to try another chip shop after the disaster last time at one the other side of the town. What a difference between the two, I will be returning to this one in the future and have no problems recommending to anyone :)

Called in there on a Thursday night for 2 portions of chicken curry and chips. It was very nice, well it should have been as they must have been waiting for the potatoes to grow and the chicks to turn into chickens. Seriously 40mins wait with only 3 other persons in there!I know I'm impatient but seriously................Will call again but not if I'm in a hurry

Went with high expectations as not been for a while ... However fish overdone and chips refried.. The batter was very dark and when I broke the fish open water came out! Have totally learnt my lesson now... Will not be returning

Found good reviews prior to visiting Ruthin - so put ourselves out to visit - and were disappointed. Sad to say batter on fish was not up to scratch - stuck to greaseproof paper and soggy - which was sad (we expect crispy battered fish). The fish was fresh and chips acceptable. Were it not for the batter would recommend - but experience tells one not to be effusive! Sorry Finns!

Was walking through town bought a bag of chips to have with bread and butter at home i dont know if they are frozen chips or what, but they are bad and they are not cheap a large fish chips and peas in Denbigh is £5 and I think your at £7 in Ruthin ( not sure how much as i dont go any more ) all i know is if i want fish and chips i get in my car and drive to Denbigh

Chips were horrible.Hard and burnt,overcooked.Not good.Friendly service but a waste of money as the chips were not eatable.

Fish and Chips, freshly made for you.The batter was light and crisp and the chips were a golden colour, not the insipid colour you often get.A good portion of fish inside the batter.We'll definitely be back.It was midweek and there were crowds waiting patiently until their serving was cooked to perfection. Great sign if it's popular with the locals and definitely worth the wait!!

I've had fish and chips here quite a few times and have always enjoyed them but last couple of times (late September, Fridays early evening) they were really outstanding. Not sure if they're using a different frying medium or something, but the fish and the chips were both so fresh, light and crisp. One portion of chips easily does 2 people. Great!

I walked in and every thing looked clean, fresh and very appetizing. The staff were very friendly and i was greeted with a warm welcome. The cook looks like what he knows what he is doing. The shop has been open for over 100 years and our family has been going for over 5 generations.

We had a takeaway here on the last night of our holidays, we had been waiting for dinner in our holiday park and they forgot us so we drove to Ruthin and they sorted us out ASAP.Lovely staff, plain, simple food, great fresh fish and yummy mushy peas.I thought it was priced ok but maybe could be a little cheaper with its sides.

I can always rely on good old Finns to be able to pick up a meal to take home. We usually visit when we have been out for the day and it's too late to start dinner after getting home. We pick up a takeaway and still have another half hour drive until we can enjoy it. It's a place to visit more than once.

If you know what a chippy is then you will never visit here again. Waited for 20 mins while the staff went through a long list of people already stood an age in here. The staff serving were efficient and very pleasant, I'll give them that....BUT the chips had a orange tinge to them, we're very crispy and tasteless. Goodness knows what oil they are using but my friend who tasted two and then refused to eat any more, got bad heartburn. This is not a traditional chip shop. There are no sign of pies which is a bad sign and I thought can only mean one thing.... PING! I guessed right... They were done to order in the microwave. .. There was a vile pile of greasy orange coated chicken in place of where pies should be kept hot. The food we ordered went straight to dustbin heaven where maybe a few rats might appreciate this bag of manure!!!!! How people are saying it's great amazes me. I can only imagine they don't understand the concept of Traditional Chippy's!

After being starved of the Fish and Chip classic combo working in Europe, I love to come home and grab a bag from Finns,, plenty of salt and vinegar, you can't beat eating it out of the bag. This chippy has seen many owners, but the current ones have been there some time and have established a good clean business, I would recommend it to anyone if in Ruthin.

I was in between on prices not sure what to expect, it is in a town centre so i thought it could be deemed as ok, but then again its not a sea side either so not sure why the price £1 for a spec of curry, is just not right, other places charge like 50p. so price wise if u want gravy, curry its a no. chip price mmm id prefer it dipped a bit. The food how ever was nicei waited quiet a while though, which i presume is good because u know its fresh. but its one of them you want to be in and out but u want fresh so places like this cant ever win. its cook to order which is good, just the wait is to long, maybe have a tv in there for us to watch or make convo, have things for us to read.However the staff where ok. they where poliet, id say i would go again, but i doubt i will because i dont live in wales, however id reccommed it. :D

Were do i start. The food was amazing i loved it. The price was within our budget. The atmosphere was very good the people serving me were very polite. I was also glad to see they had a 5 star food hygiene twice on the run, and the cook also had an award of some sort. Also all the signs were easy to read and well spaced out.

how much for chips the food was ace but cost not - why does a small town have such expensive fish and chips ?
