Great place to eat and just what you want from a bar menu - unpretentious - and just what we were looking for. Fabulous food and well presented and very helpful staff who even took our photo when asked. Husband loved the fact the bill was handwritten. Hadn’t been to an atm before hand so was embarrassed about not being able to leave a better tip. Will go back

Wonderful and welcoming, we enjoyed the most delicious meal here on Hogmanay. The staff were kind and attentive and other patrons so friendly, the restaurant is nicely set out, intimate and warm. The food was cooked fresh to order so lovely and hot and the prices very competitive. The hotel has a fab location and is easy to reach. I’m so glad we chose here for our meal. All depends what you pay. It’s old in need of a massive revamp and is rather stuck i a time warp so don’t expect much but if your paying £50 a night kind of money it’s totally fine, pay much more and I think you will be disappointed. Evening meal was good, quiet Bar, free parking, no views but you can easily walk out to see the bridges. You can hear the trains overhead so bring your ear plugs. Breakfast ok. Freewifi .

A quick visit to North Queensferry saw us thirsty And chilly so we popped in to the Ferrybridge. A warm welcome and a nice real fire made us comfortable. My pint of Belhaven was fine and a pair of Jura warmed us up. We liked the decor - nice display cabinet of pottery and things. We didn’t eat but the dining area was nicely laid out. All in all, a lovely pub for a mid-afternoon pint. Recommended.

We stopped in here for a bar lunch as all other eateries in the street were either shut or full, when we went into the bar/dining area we found it to be very quiet, only another couple of people were seated and a couple at the bar (this was around 2pm Sun. afternoon). However there was a warm fire burning and it was cold outside so we decided to give it a try. We ordered haddock and chips and steak pie, the fish was cooked perfect and although the chips were frozen chips they were chunky chips and were cooked properly. The steak pie was more like stew with a pastry on the top but there was a flat pastry on the bottom, so technically not a pie as such but a better effort than some places who think stew in a casserole dish with a pastry ontop is a pie. All veg that came with the dishes were perfectly cooked. No lattes are available but coffee and pots of tea are, there is also a full bar. The server was polite, well presented and prompt. The toilets were very clean as well. All in all a really good bar lunch and at a great price.

I stayed in the Ferrybridge hotel in North Queensferry on a business trip last week. The hotel itself was small, compact, but friendly and clean. I liked that we had a key to the external door allowing 24 hour access as this allowed us to come and go without having to always go through the bar area, which appeared to have a few locals in who knew each other well. The member of staff who greeted me upon my arrival was very friendly and helpful. The bedroom itself was quite small, but did the job for just a nights stay. I would probably consider staying here again, should the need arise as it was friendly and cheap enough. Check out felt a little awkward as obviously the staff were setting tables or something and I wasn't sure whether to just leave the key or what, however the staff on check in were excellent.

We had soup, which was homemade and delicious. Served with a crusty warm roll and generous cubes of butter. Our little boy had chicken and chips from the children's menu. No plastic nuggets here - a beautiful big chicken breast in batter and chunky chips with a delightful and colourful salad. It's such a joy when the children's menu is 'real food'. We sat in the pub. The restaurant side looked lovely for evening meals. Great surroundings. A little worn around the edges but that just adds to the charm. Highly recommended.

The decor is very tired, for example the corner seat is ripped in places, the curtains/wallpaper/carpets etc could all do with updating. If they spruced it up a bit it could be great, as the food and service is fab. We probably wouldn't return just because of lack of atmosphere and the bad decor. I would have ideally given my scoring as 3.5 stars (good - not very good), but as I can't with Trip Advisor then I am going with 4*.

We popped in here to at while we were staying up the road at the big Queensferry hotel. We have walked by here a hundred times but never had time to pop in.It always looks so nice from outside, warm cosy and inviting. We immediately loved it inside, and it was as it looked. Warm cosy , old fashioned in a nice antiquey way and the staff were lovely.WE were offered to go into the restaurant which looked so welcoming and Christmassy, but we decided just to eat in the bar by the fire.It was lovely and such a pretty setting. The meal was excellent. No complaints at all. We had home made soup which was excellent big bowl, nice hot rolls plenty of butter. Then huge home made pies.Nice drinks, fairly priced and an all in all nice filling, good quality meal with no complaints at all.My only negative comments, and I have really had to search for something negative in case people think out review is so good we work there !! or our relative do (which they don't) !! is the seating in the bar. Big comfy seats with nice big tables, but a bit torn and tatty. In fairness it looks like someone has caught the material with a bag or a belt. But it just spoils the look a little,....and the other thing, the squeakiest floorboards ever. But it was very funny !!So a great review for a warm, cosy, cheerful happy place with nice food and an amazing setting almost under the spans of the old Forth Rail bridge itself. We loved it, and wished we could have just sat there in the warm by the roaring fire all evening.

Anyhow, we were seated quickly and ordered drinks. Two adults and two children. Browsed the menu and chose chefs own personal favourite Chicken chasni and asked for a mixed vegetable fried rice with this dish. Other adult ordered steak pie. Children opted for fish fingers x2. We were aware the waiting time for this was about twenty minutes ( states on the menu ) And without a doubt about twenty minutes. Chicken chasni with mixed veg fried rice, steak pie, and two posh fish fingers arrived. happy to see my children look and wonder at the fish fingers, they were fish goujons, unsure what my children thought they were being fed. I ensure them that inside the golden batter, the succulent cod was awaiting for them. I may also add this came with hand made tartare sauce. Bonus !After a few moments for dissection's of the meal. All was good !Chicken chasni. Outstanding, as usual. Steak pie, smelt fantastic. Fish goujons and tartare sauce? two very happy children, I even had to ask for an other portion of tartare sauce, So you can imagine children loved it ! 100% happy family and couldn't thank chef enough for the delightful experience in this establishment. Tables by the window give great views of the new bridge which is being built. Hotel staff were very friendly and the £20 for two menus suited us. There is also an extensive a la carte menu with plenty of choice. We ordered the fish which was excellent, crispy batter which was not greasy or too thick. The chips were disappointing as they seemed to be left over potatoes which had been cut and fried and were rather dark and uninteresting. However, if you're hungry, you eat them! service was good and coffee was fresh and rich tasting. This is an ideal spot for a meal when in the area and we will return on our next visit to family.

We had seen a menu at our B&B and it looked good. We were very disappointed, not with the quality of the food though because we didn't eat. We were 'greeted' by the lady who I assume was the landlady and said we'd have a drink in the bar before eating. The bar was dingy and the seating was terrible with stained seats. We made our way through to the restaurant and after sitting for quite a long while a waitress came and told us that because of staff shortages we may have a long wait for food and would that be OK. Strangely while offering us the choice she started to gather up our menus so it was apparent they didn't really want to serve us. There was seemingly nowhere else to eat at a reasonable price so we said we would be prepared to wait. We waited for a long while but nobody seemed interested in us or came to take an order or apologise for how long it was taking so we gave up and left. The food we saw others eating looked quite nice but the ambience of the whole place and the service were terrible.

I've been coming to North Queensferry for years, and have eaten here a few times. This time the food was still good, pleasant restaurant and bar... But the early finishing of serving food was a disappointment on our last night (Sunday) We arrived 8:30 and told that food was no longer being served.... And on our first night (Friday) were told no food after 9pm and others were still waiting to be served! We managed to eat there on the Saturday, and the food was good! But the fluctuating service finish is going to upset a few people. I'm sure if they really want to make the business develop, they need to be able to serve later, otherwise they will loose potential custom! Which is a shame as the food was good, and should think about expanding the menu too while they are at it.I understand there is local development happening soon and the Ferrybridge Hotel should up its game for future reference.

Decided to visit as my wife wanted to take some daytime and night pictures of the Forth Bridge - the Ferrybridge was the ideal place to have a break and a bite to eat between sessions as its just a short stroll from the bridge and several good viewing points. With the right table you can also have a superb view during your meal. The menu was varied, maybe too much, it couldn't seem make up its mind what sort of restaurant it actually was. However, having said that, the food itself was excellent, well cooked and presented. Service wasn't that good but a lot better than some places I have been to, definitely didn't warrant any complaints.

After a Mother's Day stroll across the bridge we went to get a bar lunch here. We walked in and asked re a table for 3 plus a toddler. There were Mother's Day menus on display in the windows and a full dining room set plus two large booths in the bar available the other taken by a similar family set up. We were told at 2:30pm by a waitress that they were unable to accommodate anything other than drinks.....? There were no other diners at all in the whole place an empty dining room and one family in the bar? So so disappointed after looking forward to a bar lunch. No explanation was offered at all.

Popped in tonight for a bite to eat with the family; they were very busy with a wedding reception and warned us in advance. Good excuse for a glass of red, I went for the St Emilion which was fantastic value at £22. The chef popped out to say they were busy but will do his best, he explained the new menu and recommendations which was really helpful. We were relaxed though - nice atmosphere and had a good chat with the bar staff. We ordered the haggis fritters and chorizo & black pudding, followed by the steak pie and the spicy chicken burger. Chicken and chips for the wee one. To our surprise the food came quickly. The starters were a revelation - the fitters were covered in a delectable garam batter, laced with smokey cheese while the black pudding and chorizo was sumptuous and plentiful. Both mains were of the highest order too and again large portions leaving us totally stuffed. Another surprise was the kids meal - the chicken was fresh goujons in a super light batter with crunchy fresh french fries; with lashings of freshly made tomato sauce a clean plate was guaranteed. The only issue was there was no room for desert, but a good excuse to return. Fantastic value too, a bottle of wine, drinks for the kids plus 2 courses each less than £65 - awesome!

Hotel was clean and food was ordered and brought very quickly. All the hotel staff were very helpful. There is a function room below the rooms and the music was extremely loud. It finished at 12.30 so there was no reason to complain. Breakfast was good.

Ate here for dinner one evening recently and found the place dark and dingy. not much choice on the menu and one of our party ended up with burger as there was nothing else she liked. What was had was OK but not worth the money we paid, would not go back there.

I ate in the hotel bar restaurant. The service was friendly. The food was not expensive but ordinary - I had a Caesar salad that was overdone with tubes of toasted break and grated cheese. The beer selection was a bit limited and not "hand pulled" ale which was a disappointment. The decor seems very old fashioned - stretch nylon white chair covers and the carpets are worn.

This place is a little gem. I visited for the Rod Stewart tribute evening with a group of friends. Absolutely amazing, we all had a great night...the guy (Rod) was fabulous. We ate in the restaurant beforehand. Lovely food, we took advantage of the 2 mains for £15. Great offer. Will definitely be back for the Elvis Presley tribute evening :-)

We arrived about forty minutes before the time our table was booked for, but this wasn't an issue to the staff who were all extremely efficient and friendly. The chef even came out the kitchen to our table, to let us know that he had ingredients left from earlier which would allow him to cook a couple of dishes not on the menu, and for a reduced price, if we wanted! We just stuck to the menu, and thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, well cooked, well presented, and with generous helpings, all at very reasonable prices. We will most definitely be back, and may even stay over night one time after their regular cabaret nights.

The Ferrybridge Hotel restaurant/pub was on our list based on TA reviews. We stayed in a B&B in North Queensferry and the owners recommended it as their go to place when they eat out. With 2 recommendations, we were not disappointed. On the first visit, I had the spinach and mushroom risotto with smoked haddock at an extra cost. The risotto was excellent but the extra cost for smoked haddock was definitely not worth the cost. Served with an excellent salad. My husband had the lamb shank served with roasted veggies and mashed potato. Excellent. On our second visit, I had the steak and ale pie which was excellent and my husband had the lamb shank again - don't mess with success. All meals were in the 10-13 pound range. We ate in the pub - very comfortable. There is a separate dining room. Service was friendly.

Don't listen to the bad reviews untill you have tried it for yourself...My partner picked this hotel in queensferry as it was it was close to the deep sea world and had amazing views of the bridges, On arrival we managed to park right at the side of the building and oh the views were ideal for pictures, its a hidden gem i would say, When walking into we approached the bar and were served by a women who was the owner she was very friendly and told us everything we needed to know for our stay.We went up the stairs towards the room and i never knew what to expected as i never seen the place before going, opened the door and oh the room was lovely, and the view of the rail bridge was amazing, Our room had a double bed, soft comfy chair, tv and free view box, and bathroom with basket of towels, shower gel and soap, and tea and coffee facility's. The rooms have a lock but we felt safe the min we walked in to the hotel. As we had traveled we went to the restaurant for dinner, its limited but has offers on, and the prices were alright, we got burgers and chips, the waitress was very polite and well manarerd, within couple of mins sitting down she asked us what drinks would would like and then came and took our order, You will be happy with the size of meal it was filling.Queensferry is a small village and not many shops but if your looking for romantic views then this area is ideal for you, We went out a walk and then headed back for a drink at the bar, there was 3 other couples sitting, and some music was been played in the background, its a relax place and feels like home, the women that owners it is very friendly and so is the chef and waitress they are happy to help if you ask.I saw below regarding the noise from the trains yea you hear them but after a wile you don't i had a great sleep, breakfast is served in the restaurant in the morning, we had orange and pineapple juice, tea, theres cereal on offer, and cooked breakfast is available if you want.Well on leaving we said to ourselfs we will be back, Pictures will be uploaded soon,

As my boyfriend and I had been going out for a year, we wanted to go somewhere nice for a meal and we picked here as we were going bowling and playing mini golf afterwards near there - so really we picked it for convenience above anything else. Being a pub type place, We weren't expecting anything extraordinary as such - but it still looked nice. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice lady who showed us to our table - a nice table at the window. We were the only ones in so it was nice and relaxing. The menu looked delicious and I opted for both the starter and main course specials - lamb koftas to start and venison steak for my main. Infact, we both had steak I think (apologies as I have only just got round to writing this review just now and we visited at the end of April). We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals... So much so that we even decided to stay for dessert which was great too. For somewhere we werent expecting too much of, it actually turned out o be really great and we really felt like we found a hidden gem which we will definitely return to at some point!

We had a great night out in this lovely restaurant yesterday. What a shame it was so quiet but there again, that meant we had excellent service. Three of us had the steak and ale pie which was delicious and one had the fish which again, looked great. For desert, we had various (Eton Mess was my sin) but all excellent. Portions were plentiful without being excessive. Good value for money. We did not feel rushed when we finished our meal and found the staff courteous and friendly. Will definitely go again. They have started "Tribute Nights" so might be tempted to one of them.

The food has always been pretty good at The Ferrybridge but they REALLY need to retrain their staff to have a decent business. The place is looking really shabby so redecoration and better staff would mean a better business. It is always empty when we go. There is one lady in particular who never asks us if we want more drinks, just serves us our meal and pretty much leaves us to it - no 'can I get you anything else'. Any request just seems to much effort. We had to ask her three times for to out in a drink order yesterday, she was too busy doing her long hair behind the bar, yuck!

The Ferrybridge is local to me and I have eaten there over the years. My wife and I decided to book for Valentines/my birthday. Having seen the menu before hand I already knew my courses. We were sat down promptly and ordered drinks. My wife had a main of sirlion but she is a plain fare eater, unfortunately her appetite was a bit off last night so her thoughts wouldn't be fair however she did enjoy it. I had a starter of scallops on Stornaway black pudding with a micro-herb salad and a red pesto. In all honesty it was by far the best scallop dish I have ever eaten. The main of venison medallions with redcurrant and dark chocolate sauce on potatoes with creamy parsnip mash and steamed broccoli was again top notch and both dishes could easily grace more high end eateries.Home made strawberry cheesecake to finish, not normally a sweet eater but really enjoyed this, the strawberry sauce was amazing.Excellent service, amazing food. Was the perfect finish to my birthday.

We stayed in North Queenferry for 2 nights and ate here 3 times. We got such a lovely welcome from Ina, Natalie & Lesley. They were fantastic with our 7 year old daughter. The menu is quite limited but I think this is because it is Winter, so it's understandable. On saying that we still managed to have 3 different meals so it was all good! :) We will definitely return here...soon I hope. Well done and thankyou to all at the Ferrybridge

From the outside we expected this to be a busy hotel/pubInstead we felt we were greated by a run down hotel. We were seated and drinks order taken whilst looking at the menu. We were sceptical about ordering due to the look on the place but to be fair the food was amazing. We really shouldn't have judged on the look. I'd recommended this place for food definitely. No idea what it looks in the hotel rooms but do pop there if you canShame we live in Wales so cant come backStaff were straight faced and no smiles but isn't that just the Scottish way :-) Inst

Great location on the Old Course. Beautiful modern terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the fairways to the sea. So wanted to like this place but were disappointed. Food was standard golfing fare - steaks and lobster - OK but nothing special . Wine list reasonable for price and choice. What lets the place down is the lack of management oversight. Tables with broken legs, jet lagged golfers asleep in the lobby, incredibly noisy ambience all overseen by a well meaning but overwhelmed serving staff. Not what you expect when paying $400 for a meal for two. Dinner took three and a half hours. We had to track down staff to order wine, coffee and get the check. Could be a good dining alternative to the Old Course Hotel but its let down badly by the service. Seems its owned by one of those absentee investment companies and it shows .

Had afternoon Tea today(Sunday). The view is stunning, overlooking the golf course and the Forth. We had to wait around 10 minutes and received 4 types of sandwiches, a plain scone and fruit scone and a variety of cakes. The scones were some of the best I’ve ever had- warm from the oven, the cakes were light. We received a bottle of water and large pot of tea but had to ask for glasses. The toilets were a bit more dated than the restaurant but clean

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

Arranged to meet friends here for a lunch and a catch up. This is a very popular visit with very pleasant surroundings through a very large conservatory contributing to a very well lit area. There are a number of tables within the conservatory and your extensive menu is on the table. There are hot and cold food choices ordered at the server and brought to your table. We opted for chicken and rice soup and tomato and vegetable soup. To accompany the soup we ordered cheese and onion toasties and cheese and ham. We had carrot cake put aside for later that was the last of it. The chicken soup had a distinct homemade stock flavour with generous amounts of chicken through the rice and veg. The toasties came with crisps and side salad and coleslaw on the side. They were very well cooked with a generous filling. Finally the piece de resistance the home baking carrot cake came bursting with flavour very moist and topped with a very sweet icing. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
