Great place for a wedding or just a stay at the weekend

Stayed here for the night on a Saturday, hotel looks great from the gardens and outside. However once in the rooms your met with a very extremely dated room, with even mould on the ceiling, broken drawers, mould in the shower and a musty smell. Then came down for a full English breakfast (not very full) not even beans or hash browns, was extremely oily too. Don’t think I’ll be in a hurry to return, it’s a shame though as it is a stunning location for a hotel.

Phenomenal food and Phenomenal grounds kept I immaculate conditions and it's own Wedding Chappel in the centre, and had a look at the Phenomenal Wedding Suite whish is so posh the whole Royal Family would be glad to dine here

Just stayed here one night at a competitive price. The food was good and very reasonable, the staff were great, really friendly and helpful. The grounds and the building look great but sadly the room was tired and dated.

My partner organised a surprise birthday party for me and 20 of my friends. We had a fantastic time. The staff were amazing, food was great and nothing was too much trouble for them. The gardens are beautiful and there is lots of secure parking. 10/10.

Very special place with amazing grounds. Beautiful scenery and a unique style inside. Love the place, although potentially a bit pricey, worth it for those special occasions

I arranged a 60th meal for my sister for approx 24 people last Sunday and asked if could make it look special with a decoration or 2 or something. They pulled out all the stops and it looked absolutely fabulous 👌 food and service wonderful, happy and helpful staff. We were blessed with the sunshine and spent time after in the stunning garden. You will not be disappointed for a lovely meal in an old country house. Spotless. We didn't stay over to comment on rooms but imagine to same standard. Mrs Hudson

Very nice hotel in the Lancashire country side. Way better than chain. Very good service and food great. Lovely gardens to sit in. Would definitely stay here again. About 15 mins off the motorway and all the better for it.

It was really a great experience to be invited for a New Years Dinner and Dance . The food was lovely and the portions were generous. For starters I went for the blackpudding with apple and for the main I went with duck and stuffing and for the dessert round I went for chocolate and cherry roulade .

My friend recently got married here. The venue was beautiful and some of the staff were helpful - but others let it down. The girl serving at breakfast couldn't have been less interested if she'd tried which was a shame. The coffee had ran out - so I politely asked for more - not a word from her to respond - just grabbed the empty coffee pot and stormed off, before returning and banging it down like she couldn't wait to leave. Just not the service you expect when it's a wedding and I paid a lot of money for one nights stay. It let the experience down. The food was nice but the rooms could do with updating - very old fashioned

Attended my grand daughter's wedding here but can't speak for the rooms as we didn't stay overnight. The staff were very friendly & attentive to everyone's needs. The grounds were perfect for staging a wedding with stunning backdrops & a great layout for wedding photos. The food was impeccable & the service was excellent.

'This review is intended to be objective and constructive. Firstly, the good points: A lovely building with fantastic grounds and an enormous terrace. Friendly staff. Now, unfortunately, the problems: Flies! Maybe the time of year, but there were flies all over - I think they enjoyed the food as much as we did. Also, in our room, there was a large number of tiny black flies which I had to attack before putting the light out. Reception. A bit like a dinghy large cupboard, and usually unmanned. The room keys were on a large wooden fob, almost too large to go in a pocket. Very 1960s. Breakfast was poor. Yes, full English available, but no muesli, no weetabix, the granola seemed to run out as there was none on day 3, no fruit, either fresh or other. On two of our three days there was no white sugar, and pots of jam dumped on a table without a receptacle to take to your table. I went down to the bar on day 2 at 9.25pm. The bar was shuttered, as was Reception. Just had to drink water! Our room. Overlooked the car park, and had the smallest TV I've ever come across in a hotel. About the size of a laptop. The tiny bathroom had a loose loo seat, a damaged cord to the basin light, and a filthy, mouldy step up to the shower. These problems were reported - the loo seat was fixed, but a new cord to the light came away at it's first test. We were given a reduction to what we paid, but these problems should not happen in a 3* hotel. A makeover is badly needed as it could be such a lovely hotel. Obviously very popular with wedding groups, but for those staying there - Hmmmm!'
