We came here for date night and the food was amazing! Small plates so we could try lots of things the cod croquettes were amazing!!! Margarita verde was delicious too! Service 10/10 lovely place and will defo be coming back to try more of the menu. The only downfall is the price was quite expensive for the amount of food but was delicious :)

Hello! We often pop into Fern for a drink and have often looked at the food menu, but last night we were celebrating a new job for my partner, so we decided to dine with you. It's always a lovely atmosphere, staff are always lovely, and we've popped in sister lounge, Trickle, too, and been very happy. I am a restaurant manager with 15 years experience in 5* hotels and Michelin starred restaurants, so I have very high expectations. About last night - we were initially greeted at the door by a very friendly young man, who was very helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed a drink at the bar, then moved to our table, where we met our waitress Cassandra - she was the perfect host, with great knowledge about the menu and specials of the day, extremely upbeat and passionate about everything, and had a lovely presence about her, without being imposing. I was especially impressed with her honesty in telling us from the get go that the kitchen was very busy, and offering some complimentary nibbles, and also offering to move us to a more romantic table as soon as one became available, without us having to even ask. These small touches made our evening so much more special, as we felt completely comfortable with her and trusted her recommendations and went for a three courses with digestifs and the full works. We had the cut of the day, Cote de Beouf, which was perfectly cooked and rested, so incredibly juicy and flavoursome, and we finished with the chocolate dome dessert, which was beautifully presented and delicious. We also noticed that lots of different types of people (couples, friends, groups) were enjoying their evening, and all the other food we saw looked amazing. Also, the young man who initially greeted us was incredible throughout the evening, he mostly ran food but he was like a rocket doing a bit of everything - an amazing colleague to have! Thank you very much to all of your team for a perfect evening. We can't wait to come back!

Love love their food! The staff are always friendly & helpful. I often pop in for a light bite and cocktail with friends and we love it there. Background noise can get a bit loud but that's cause it's busy.

LOVE! I have been a few times and every time has been amazing. This was the perfect spot a Friday night catch up with friends. Cocktails are incredible and the food was so tasty, we ordered so much but why not. I think the duck and chicken were the stars of the show. I love the sharing concept and everything comes out when it’s ready. This rivals some top places in London so it’s incredible to have something this good on your doorstep. We need more of this!!!

I always bring family & friends here for the roast because it always, always delivers!! We travel from brixton to Croydon, because I'm yet to find somewhere that beats the Fern. All the meats are cooked to perfection n tasty but the pork belly is an all time fav - and generous portions. Great cocktails and wines. Service is always friendly but not overbearing. Good music, good vibes. The only thing that would top my roast, is if there was a sticky toffee pud & Custard option to send me over the edge haha

The food is exceptional. Dishes are for sharing and the range is extensive. Simply described on the menu but when they arrive - wow. Everything I've eaten here has been terrific. Even something apparently simple like potatoes were so packed with flavour we continued to eat them long after we were full. It's hard to believe this is a local, south London restaurant. It would give most Soho restaurants a run for their money. The dining room is beautiful and the cocktails and wines are great. It has a less formal but large bar area (which is also dog-friendly). Conor, the manager, is wonderful - charming and welcoming.

Dear FERN Croydon Team, I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to share our experience from our visit to your restaurant yesterday for our wedding anniversary, which, unfortunately, was quite disappointing. From the start, we were told that for a table of two, we had to order a minimum of 4-6 plates, which felt like a mandatory rule imposed on us. Despite our surprise, we complied and placed our order. However, when the food was served, we noticed an additional dish had been added without our consent, making it six plates instead of five. When we questioned this while receiving the bill, the waiter bluntly responded with a straight “no,” without any explanation or attempt to understand our concern. Additionally, when we asked about the service charge, we specifically inquired whether it was mandatory or optional. The waiter confirmed it was optional, so we chose to have it removed. Shortly after, we simply requested if someone could take a picture for us as a small gesture. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, the response was, “Oh, I’m sorry, I’m busy.” This left us feeling unwelcome, especially as it seemed to follow our decision to remove the service charge. To add to the disappointment, when we requested to pack our leftover food, all the dishes were placed in a single box without any consideration, making it difficult to enjoy later. Small details like this make a big difference in the overall dining experience, and unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. While some dishes were good, others were not up to the mark, and the overall service and hospitality were truly lacking. We weren’t expecting anything grand for our occasion, just a warm and pleasant dining experience, which, unfortunately, was not the case. Seeing other tables with just coffee while we were forced into ordering multiple dishes added to our frustration. A refund wouldn’t truly compensate for the experience, but I would still like to request one, or if there’s any other way you could make up for this, it would be appreciated. More than anything, I hope this feedback helps improve your customer service, so no other guests feel the same way we did. Looking forward to your response.

Was looking to treat myself to a solo lunch and this place did not disappoint. Prices are on the higher need but 100% worth it. I ordered the burrata, crispy potatoes, shallots and the ruby manhattan cocktail. The food was soooo tasty I could really taste all the flavour choices made by the chef and I was really impressed by the look of their vegan/ vegetarian menu. The vibes were gorgeous and o felt sexy and sophisticated just being there. If you have a bit of extra cash or are looking for actual good quality flavours and food I would 1000% reccomend - great for dates or special occasions of girls brunch

£5 for a beautiful workspace is unbeatable. As a young founder it's one of the best spaces I've been in. Food is amazing, looks amazing and is diverse. The service from Mary is outstanding and some of the best I've ever had. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure comfort and provide service. It feels like a space made with every detail to be perfect for businesses both young and old. Couldn't recommend more

If you’re looking for the ultimate Sunday roast, Fern is the place to be. Everything tasted homemade and absolutely mouthwatering. The gravy was rich and flavorful, tying the whole plate together beautifully. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing Sunday with family or friends. The service was prompt and friendly, and you could tell the staff genuinely care about the experience they provide. Highly recommend treating yourself to a Sunday here – it’s worth every bite!

What an absolute gem for brunch! The menu is creative and packed with delicious options – everything we tried was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Their Bloody Mary? Hands down the best I’ve ever had – perfectly spiced and balanced. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere is cozy yet modern, with a lovely vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. Definitely my new go-to spot for brunch in town!

I had a truly disappointing experience at this restaurant tonight. I traveled all the way from Canada to meet a friend, hoping for a pleasant evening, but instead, I was met with subpar food and abysmal customer service. One of the dishes we ordered was inedible, and when we sent it back to the kitchen, we were informed that nothing could be done about it. Not even an attempt to address our concerns or offer an alternative. The staff’s attitude came across as dismissive, and it felt like we were being treated differently—almost as if there was a bias against us and our guest. It’s shocking that a place charging these prices would not even bother to ensure their customers are satisfied. I’ve dined in many places across the UK and abroad, and I have never encountered such a lack of care or effort from the staff or management. This was supposed to be a special evening, but the unwelcoming atmosphere and terrible service left a bitter taste. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you value good food and respectful service.

My wife and I were staying in the building above Fern for our trip to London. We decided to try Fern for dinner out of convenience. It was so good we went back the second night for their Sunday roasts. The food was amazing. We got the roast for two on our second visit. It was more like roast for four. There was so much food. The atmosphere was relaxed. The bar is separated enough from the dining area that it wasn't annoying. The servers and manager were all so nice. The manager was from Sicily, where we currently live, so she was giving us recommendations on where to visit when we get back. She was very sweet. I would definitely recommend Fern if you are in the area.

Was served by Giudi on my first visit with a friend to Fern. I must highlight not just the amazing food (largest rice pudding I've ever had!) but the outstanding service. There was a mistake with one of our dishes and this was dealt with impeccably. Very happy.

Went to Fern just before Xmas a very great experience. Christina was our server who was outstanding, explained the menu clearly, recommended certain dishes when asked, made sure we did not run out of drinks kept an eye on us but not intrusive. The food was really excellent, especially desert would highly recommend going here. A really great night.

We're no stranger to Fern as it's always our date night choice. The food and drinks never disappoint. We recently planned a dinner here for all of our friends after our town hall wedding. Most of them are foodies and every single one of them was raving about the food, drinks and service. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend for dinner or even an intimate event!

Giudi was our server for the night and she so amazing, cheerful and gave great suggestions from the menu. It was our firat time trying food there we had gone for couple of cocktails before, she welcomed us and explained everything from the menu very patiently in detail.

We recently dined at Fern in East Croydon and were disappointed with the experience. The food arrived in a strange order, some dishes were lukewarm, and others were cold. When we expressed our concern about the overly salty cod, the staff member's response was rude and dismissive. We decided not to pay the £60 service charge and would not recommend this restaurant. The only positive aspect of the evening was the cocktail.

Would definitely recommend this restaurant! Had our xmas lunch here. Food was delicious (best christmas lunch we have had, so flavoursome and just the right portion size). Starter, main and dessert - all wonderful. Waiter was very attentive and polite. Atmosphere great, with not too loud background music playing so you could have good conversations without shouting. Would recommend and would love to visit again. Credit to our waiter who was great! (sorry didnt get his name to give him a personal shout out).

Love Fern - so great to see the number of higher end options in Croydon increasing. I used to go to their sister venue Mr Fox for Sunday roast, so very glad they’re now serving it here. Although I do miss the pork! The regular menu here is pretty great (if a little pricey) and the staff are always lovely, as is the decor. It’s got a nice chilled vibe.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say 'it was the best roast I've ever had'. This is from someone who doesn't care for a roast, never gets excited about them. If they were all this good, I'd eat them more. Service was excellent, very attentive. Atmosphere gets a knock because it was so hot, stifling when sat upstairs as we were.

What a gem! I walked passed this place many times, but one cold November evening I decided to pop in solo. The sea food was divine. Hats off to Cassandra, who understands service and is extremely pleasant. Looking forward to visiting again.

What a great restaurant, a truly new addition to Croydon’s high end restaurant scene. Brought to you by the owners of Mr Fox, this place has an amazing atmosphere, with the most amazing cocktails and great service, couldn’t stop asking for the Margarita Verde! It’s a must! Staff were great and weren’t afraid to admit that they might have made a mistake (even though there was not many). Loving the bar area as well. Decor has a plush relaxed feel and loved the way the sunlight pierced through the huge windows. It might slightly blind you for a little while, 😎 but you can still see. Promise. Now to the food. Being that there was 4 of us we ordered quite a bit from a good array of food on the sharing menu which is the whole concept of the restaurant. The Beef Tartare was on point as well as the Sea Bream Ceviche, maybe not enough to share between 4. 🤷🏾‍♂️ What really stood out was the Rendang Corn-fed Chicken which we actually had as an extra dish after our original order, (glad we did it!). Could not stop thinking about how good that tasted! 😋 We also had the ribs. Both the Lamb and Short Ribs taste were nice, the only critic is that they both needed a sauce as I found it on the dry side. Padrōn Peppers a plenty however the Courgette Flower & Octopus both needed maybe two a plate. I didn’t try the £58 steak but may well do the next time I go. All in All it’s a great restaurant and would highly recommend. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

I usually go here during the week and make use of the hot-desking deal. I enjoy working from here as the workspace is segregated, so it is peaceful and a good calm space to focus. I have had the lunch special - I usually get the fish, which is a delicious perfectly cooked portion of hake with a delicious veg side. I’ve also received excellent service from Mary, she is always super friendly and helpful! Very approachable! I appreciate that she still provides excellent service to the hot-desking area which is on a separate floor to the normal dining area.

I had my birthday lunch in this awesome restaurant. I celebrated with a couple of friends. Our overall experience was great! Food was delicious, fresh and nicely presented. Oysters were my #1. Judy, our waitress was absolutely amazing! She gave us a brief, but essential description of all dishes and really looked after us properly. We surely will be visiting Fern shortly!

Best place to go in Croydon. Either for a romantic dinner. A simple drink with friends in a good ambiance, but also for work!! They have a space for it monday to Friday. Marie in the bar makes the best drinks and coffees!!! Love the tapas concept, and Sunday roasts too! You’ll be welcomed and appreciated right away. Guiditta will make you feel home ❤️ .

What an awful experience! The brunch took an hour to arrive. The French toast was cold and tasted nothing like any French toast I've ever tasted. When this was pointed out to the manager, I received no apology - just an offer to warm the toast which was covered in cream - how he proposed to warm it, I have no idea. There was no offer to replace the meal. Sadly, even if the meal was hot, it would have been a sorry attempt at French toast. Don't waste your time, go elsewhere where customers are appreciated.

I went to Fern for a Sunday roast as my go to place (Mr Fox) has closed. I wasn't sure it would reach their high roast standards but it was absolutely delicious! Really good service, choice of drinks and interesting desserts too. Highly recommend.

I normally work from home once a week due to a course I was assigned to by my employers and I’ve got to say, this place is the best for a suitable working environment. The food is great, the added plus sockets is brilliant and WiFi is very fast. But what sets this place apart is the service. Mary has been incredibly attentive and hospitable from the moment I walk in, I almost immediately made to feel at home and comfortable. I will be going here weekly without a fail. I couldn’t ask for a better environment to work, eat and be social.

Very bad experience. We arrived at 11am, so we were in time for breakfast. Many ingredients were missing (no croissant, mushrooms, halloumi etc.). In addition we asked if the orange juices were fresh, we were told yes even though it was not, we even saw the cartons of juice. After 40 minutes of waiting, we still weren't served, so we paid for our drinks and went elsewhere. No commercial gesture, barely an apology. Very disappointed.

Came at 12:00 to get brunch on Saturday The french toast was soldout They didnt have anymore mushroom and alumi The orange juice came from a carton box and the coffee was burning hot. Needed to wait an hour still not having food and seing the chefs walking around the restaurant with bags of onion.. Big lack of experience from the kitchen and a bit from the waiters. Worst breakfast place i ever seen.

Had a fantastic lunch with a friend. We had the honey chicken and the pan fried hake. Both were delicious!! Good wine and lovely cocktails. Finished with the white chocolate dome for dessert. So lovely. All delivered with fantastic service. Special notes to Mary who and the rest of the team who looked after us so well. Can highly recommend.

I wandered in to Fern after checking in to my hotel and WOW, what a find!! Judy was charming and helpful with excellent advice about my order. I had the Tiger Prawns and the Padrón Peppers and both were excellent. The prawns had an incredible sauce and the peppers were slightly sweet and very unique. It passed the vibe check too, good music and warm but chic atmosphere. Loved it!

Second visit this time with 4 friends. Food was, as ever, fantastic. There is an 'however', unfortunately. One friend's meal arrived significantly after the rest. Similarly we waited a long time for our drinks to arrive and again, one member of the party was missed. Given this is not a cheap dining experience and the place was at most 60% full, it bodes ill for service at a busy time. Also, the door spring needs fixing, especially now it's getting colder as people had to keep getting up from their meal to close it! All fixable things and I will go back. The food is just fab.

We had a wonderful evening at Fern recently. We had both been feeling stressed with work and needed to relax, unwind and indulge, and it was the perfect choice. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service, which were absolutely fantastic, but also the general atmosphere, sound and lighting which really add to the vibe at Fern. went with my twin this evening for a lovely dinner, as born and bred croydon girlies it’s nice to have a cute, fancy little spot to go to. drinks were absolutely 10/10, service was fab (shoutout to jack and the cool babe on the door with all the piercings). food was delishhhh, green lasagne, scallops, and salmon croquettes were our standouts. atmosphere was perfect, chilled with good music (people were shazaming the songs!) would defo come again!

Fabulous vegan options. Tasty and delicious and I am not vegan 😁 fab service and lovely atmosphere. Will go back again.

My recent experience at Fern Bar was deeply unsatisfactory and warrants immediate attention. The hostess, a woman with long hair, displayed unprofessional and hostile behavior, seemingly intent on withholding superior tables from us without any reasonable justification. Despite the mandatory service fee, her actions made it abundantly clear that our presence was unwelcome, as she continually rushed us throughout the evening, effectively ruining our date night. Moreover, her conduct was entirely inappropriate, as she openly flirted with my boyfriend, which was both unprofessional and highly uncomfortable. Such behavior reflects poorly on the establishment’s standards of service. To be fair, the rest of the servers were courteous and professional, which made the contrast in behavior even more glaring. To further compound the situation, the kitchen closes unreasonably early, and the bar offers a disappointingly limited selection of alcoholic beverages. The cocktails we tried were poorly crafted and did not reflect the level of quality one would expect from a venue of this nature. In conclusion, Fern Bar failed to meet even the most basic expectations of service, and I strongly advise others to consider nicer hostess , more welcoming atmosphere.

Went to fern last Sunday to get a roast and it was incredible- both the food and the atmosphere. The staff were also incredibly polite and attentive, really made a difference to the meal. Shout out to our waiter-jack, I believe, so wonderful and polite.

A friend of mine brought me here as she raved about the food. Conveniently situated close to East Croydon station, I loved the decor of the place. Our server was very attentive and friendly, the food was delicious and came out promptly. Sadly something I wanted on the menu wasn't available. Unfortunately there were a rowdy bunch of people near us which took away the full effect of what Fern had to offer. But overall, will definitely be coming back again.
