Farmhouse Dine & Wine in County Durham

Shocking for second time in a row served cold, waited ages kitchen staff let the other staff down no communication or team work. Refund given again but we just wanted decent meal will not go again.

Problems started with booking - I booked online, received an acknowledgement email saying someone would be in touch soon to confirm but I didn't get anything. I phoned a week before the booking, left an answerphone message but still no contact. Phoned the day before and finally spoke to someone who said they hadn't received my original booking - if so, how did I receive the acknowledgement email? Hmm.... We arrived at 6pm, ordered by 6.15 but food didn't arrive until 7.15. Lasagne was awful, overcooked and dry, the cheese on top was black. We did mention this to front of house staff member but didn't send it back because we'd already waited so long. Arrabiata was really tasteless. Fish in batter was also overcooked and dry. Desserts- tiramisu was OK. I had sticky toffee pudding - so overcooked it was burnt and it was so overdone I couldn't get my spoon into it. I tried a bit of the toffee sauce with ice cream, but it was so hot my mouth is burned and sore. We wondered why the place was so quiet with few customers - last time we ate there the place was full - and decided that if that was typical of the quality of food it was no surprise. Very much doubt we'll be back.

Dined here tonight unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. I ordered the spaghetti Bolognese, which turned out to be far too watery, making it unappetizing. The flavors just didn’t come together, and it felt rushed. The service was also a little disappointing—staff were inattentive at times. To make matters worse, there was an issue with the bill. Paid-for items hadn’t been cashed off, which made it impossible to determine what the remaining balance was for. This created unnecessary confusion and frustration at the end of the meal. Overall, the experience lacked the quality that I have previously experienced here

Food was stone cold when it arrived

Had two mouthfuls then put to the side! Really disappointing! I had the picante pasta which ive had before and this was really bland chicken tastes like frozen chicken pieces which had about 4 chunks in , no chilli what so ever , i get this when we sit in and this tastes totally different. partners parmo was overcooked and dry a handful of chips for what you pay its not good enough, shame as we visit in the restaurant and its 10/10 but will not be ordering online again

Food is amazing staff are always friendly the atmosphere is great too! Bar is also dog friendly so perfect for us, couldn't recommend enough !!

The restaurant was warm & inviting on a very cold November lunchtime . Staff were friendly & attentive. Ordered the beef roast lunch which was very tasty & everything cooked to perfection. Followed by desserts, the chocolate fudge cake was to die for. Overall an excellent experience & will definitely be back again. Highly recommend.

Sunday lunch. The soup starter was just a can tomato soup. The portions were generous but the meat and potatoes were dry. Average food nothing to come back for. Service was slow.

Been here many times before and always enjoyed the food, however the same cannot be said for our lunchtime experience yesterday. We ordered from the happy hour menu 2 courses £12 3 of our party ordered 1/2 fish and chips, the waiter explained it was a smaller portion but came with a £4 supplement per person, all 3 were very disappointed in the quality and all said the chips were extremely oily. Considering the same dish on the main menu is priced at £14 the £4 supplement for us was very poor value. Disappointed won't be back for a while

There was a party of 10 visited last night on 7th Nov, 5 adults and 5 children. Took 3 hours to be served a 3 course meal, one starter came out after everyone has eaten. The lasagne was inedible and very dry, the service was appalling never asked if we needed anything or everything was okay. Never asked if we needed anymore drinks and 1 and a half hours to receive a pint that was ordered. Then 40 minutes to receive ice cream and other puddings, that we had to go and ask about. The place is very nice just a shame the staff are not interested in there jobs will not be returning.

Lovely place, I had the nicest burger I've had in a while here. And just to top it off it came with home-made chips and onion rings which is rare these days.👍👍👍

Lovely atmosphere, very pleasant staff and food is great. Please make customers aware of what is not available from the menu before they order as it's very annoying when 2 out of the 3 courses you ask for turn out to be unavailable. This will not stop us returning though as we really enjoy visiting this venue.

I booked a table for 14 for my daughters 2nd birthday, there was also another big party of 25 in so I was not expecting as good a service as we received due to how busy it was. I could not fault the food or the service or the price! Everyone enjoyed their food and had a wonderful time! Thank you.

Had an amazing time here, I’ve been her three times and the food bangs all three times. It’s a family friendly atmosphere and the service was good. Waiters were friendly and were eager to assist at every point. There’s a bar and then the restaurant. I have really stayed at the bar but the restaurant was good. The only reason I’ll not give a 5 star is cos I expected the area to be slightly neater, but that could be just me.

After been let down by another booked restaurant we called here with only half hours notice and they were able to accommodate 9 of us. Decor was nice and cosy. Food selection was good and tasted lovely. Prices were reasonable. Overall we had a lovely time unfortunately too stuffed for dessert so will have to return and we ate the food before we took photos 🙈 Thank you for a lovely evening

Celebrated my Birthday on the evening of the 7th October, Table of 9, food and service brilliant especially Darren he was such a pleasure, very polite and professional, he looked after us the whole night, All staff very friendly as always, been my local for many years absolutely lovely little place to go

Went here for my friends birthday, we where a table of 9! 8 adults 1 teenager! Lovely atmosphere from entering till leaving! Darren is an absolute diamond! So pleasant and helpful, nothing was to much for him! The young girl with brown hair (didn't get her name) was also so sweet and helpful! Both always smiling & polite. Kept checking in on us. Offering to get more drinks if needed. The food was lush too! Would deffo be returning again! Thanx again Darren & team!

We went there without a booking and it was Sunday lunch time (I understand they were busy) still our foods which where all pasta and one garlic bread were delayed for more than an hour and some of them were lukewarm! Last time we went there again was during Sunday lunch time and the food was pipping hot so we were more than happy to return! Now I don't know!

Very loud, but could be easy fix, restaurant has nothing to absorb any sound on the walls or ceiling, so it just carries. Lots of kids running into and out of the playground. Probably good if youve got young family Arrived at 6:20 got served 7:45

An excellent place for a meal. I was amazed by the choice of food on offer. The halloumi fries starter was delicious and the parmo burger was delicious too. Customer service was excellent,very polite, professional and felt very welcome. Highly recommended for a meal and to bring friends and family.

Lovely quality food all piping hot. However delivery was later than expected and the cake came with ice cream rather than cream which I’d requested.

Great food excellent service highly recommended gets quite busy so recommend go early to get a seat quite small but not good for a wheelchair but do have disability toilets downstairs.

I’ve eaten in the restaurant on many occasions. If I was served this in the restaurant I would’ve sent it back. Ordered 2 Parmos and they were dreadful, overcooked, almost zero sauce and topping and the fries were appaling. It’s a shame as they have previously been a lot better standard. This was just so poor. At £35 for 2 parmo & chips delivered I expected the food to be at least edible !

Has 4 beautiful meals tonight, it is the best place for a perfect meal in a nice, relaxing atmosphere. I would 100% recommend!!

They made me up the most delicious chicken salad as I couldn't eat anything on the menu and my daughter said her pasta dish and fudge cake was out of this world so they have one Happy mam and daughter defo a 5*

Unfortunately not writing the best review after a disappointing meal the other night. We have visited this restaurant many times before (previously branded Italian Farmhouse?). But this time wish we had booked elsewhere. A quiet Monday evening with a couple of other tables in... Yet we still waited ages for our meals only to be brought a rock solid burnt garlic bread which then set off the restaurant fire alarm. The pollo pesto which was meant to be served with tomatoes, red onion and asparagus had all of that missing from the dish - literally just pasta, pesto sauce and chicken. We sent it back and they did re-make it, as well as the garlic bread. But had to wait another 10 mins. The pasta also came back incredibly greasy and oily, but we were so hungry it had to do. I must say the staff were very apologetic and did offer free drinks as well as 20% off the bill but it's just a shame as we used to love this restaurant. I'm not sure they will be getting our custom again.

The Italian Farmhouse Dine and Wine was an amazing place to celebrate a 13th birthday The food was delicious, the part of the restaurant they privately sectioned off was cozy, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The parmo burger was delicious and the portion was huge majority of the party had only positive things to say even with picky eaters the menu had enough for everyone and the staff were happy to accommodate any changes wanting to be made. Amazing night, food and service overall and we look forward to coming back again😊

Excellent service here like always! All the staff are brilliant & friendly and go above and beyond for you (especially Lewis). They never disappoint. Food was outstanding tonight (like always) ordered a steak for Valentine’s night & we can honestly say it’s the best steak we’ve had by far anywhere. It was done to how we like it, chunky chips were perfect, mushrooms beautiful & the peppercorn sauce was the best we’ve tasted. Would definitely recommend here for food & the company.

Had my daughters 13th birthday party for 22 friends and family. The service from start to finish was above and beyond! I gave a budget and they were more than happy to arrange balloons and decorate table for us. The staff were all lovely and very attentive. The whole party all said how delicious the food was and we have some picky eaters! The whole atmosphere was fantastic we are coming back to celebrate for our next family birthday - Thank you for making a 13th a very special one - we 100% be back!

I booked a table for 2 of us we were seated drinks order and food ordered waited nearly an hour for food totally ignored rest of evening food came no apology for waiting garlic bread and chips burnt couldn’t eat bread when our table server collected plates we explained we weren’t happy with any part of food or service that we actually didn’t receive all night we were very disappointed throughout won’t be going back 👎

Visited this place a few times, previously the Italian Farmhouse and I’ve only ever had one poor experience where the staff were a bit overwhelmed and orders took a while to come out, food was lovely but very slow. We visited last night and they’re now the Farmhouse Dine and Wine. Unfortunately after last nights visit I’ll never visit again. We were initially seated down the back of the restaurant close to the fire escape leading onto the playground. The restaurant is busy at this point, most tables are full and there are kids, everywhere - playing, running around screaming, in and out, in and out, in and out of that fire escape, leaving the door open, it’s absolutely baltic outside. Meanwhile the parents haven’t a clue because they’re just sat totally ignoring them, nursing a pint and allowing their kids to be everyone else’s problem. I only took this for so long before I asked to be moved tables - which the staff facilitated. We moved tables to up by the bar which was much more pleasant and I didn’t feel as though I was in a wacky warehouse. Baring in mind we had already ordered starters 25 minutes ago. We waited a further 40 before they arrived - which is a bit ridiculous considering we ordered 2 x potato skins, some garlic mushrooms and salt and pepper squid. Thankfully we didn’t wait long for mains, but again, the quality was very hit and miss, one of our party ordered a diavolo pizza which was completely cremated - we didn’t pay for this and staff were again happy to facilitate this. The rest of the food was OK but nothing I couldn’t have put in the oven at home unfortunately. The staff are all really nice and always happy to help but unfortunately after this occasion, I won’t return, it’s just not a nice environment - I’ve attended during the week before and it’s been totally different so maybe if I do return it’ll be then and definitely not on a weekend - too many selfish parents just letting their horrible kids run wild and bother every other folk. The only reason I haven’t rated this as terrible is the staff - they’re really pleasant and basing it on previous visits where we haven’t had this problem and the food is quite nice, I’d have felt rather harsh. But the staff really need to get a grip on letting people let their kids run about screaming and disrupting everyone else, leaving external doors wide open, pulling decoration (paintings and mirrors) off the walls and being a general nuisance. Also, I think they need to invest in another chef or just a more capable team if they can’t cope with the demand when they have a full restaurant - it’s a bit of a trend.

I love this Italians and come regularly, However the portion of calamari I had recently was baffling.. if they had ran out of calamari that evening I’d rather have been told and chosen something else than getting scraps. It was nice regardless which is why I didn’t complain but compared to what I had last time, during happy hour, was baffling.

Lewis & the staff are great & looked after us very well a lovely Christmas dinner , great food, great service even booked up for 2024 x the beef & pork were very tender & desert was lush x thanks again 3rd year running

Can’t rate this place highly enough. Friendly, warm and comfortable environment. Staff attentive - with a special call out to Lewis in particular. Having had a bit of bad luck that day he was so kind and caring and cheered me up no end. He really restored my faith in humanity and honestly made my whole day. Absolutely love it here so family friendly and dog friendly too. So grateful to have this on our doorstep. H

This is our absolute favourite restaurant, the food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. We eat here regularly and I recently celebrated my 40th birthday here too. It’s family friendly and our boys love it too, it’s always their first choice of places to go and the kids meals are excellent value. I feel lucky to have such a gem of a venue so locally. I would highly recommend for all occasions

Great venue and fantastic food. We live local so been several times in the past and always had a great meal. We went for steak night (actually Monday-Wednesday night). 2 rump steaks with sides, sauces and bottle of wine for £35. A total bargain and steak was really good quality and cooked exactly how we wanted it. Will definitely be returning for steak night again.

I was at the Italian farmhouse for a Christmas night out, we had a lovely meal, food excellent and our waiter Lewis couldn't do enough for us! We'll definitely be back.

A very pleasant surprise! Lovely food and a great building, much larger than it looks from the outside. The pizza and lesagne were both delicious, the chips were the biggest I've ever seen and the kids loved the Nutella calzones for dessert.

Well We've had few meals to take out and dine in here... they we're all pretty much appalling to say the least. We waited 2 hours one time for a couple of pizzas to be cooked !!! You stick to the bar like glue, which they have poorly done with something cheap and tacky!! We have Watched other people's orders come out and even seen a hair on one plate on its way past, which the customer had to mention instantly... The place looks canny like but that's all I would say for this place.. The Staff are all miserable, can't have a laugh and stand about doing nothing just talking between themselves!!... Absolutely nothing Italian about the place !!! The chefs are all English and never seen real Italian food themselves never mind being able to cook authentic Italian food like there website says !!! We won't ever be back, we gave it plenty of tries only because we're locals but never again
