Great authentic pub food we had the fish and chips and great cider! Friendly service

Hosted naming ceremony for my son here followed by a roast. Brilliant service, delicious food and the library event room is really excellent for an event! We really had a lovely day. Very grateful to the entire team, and George and Sophie who looked after us.

We booked and went here for a late birthday present for my sister. The staff were very helpful and the food was cooked exceptionally well. However.... if I'm being a little hyper critical for the prices paid the food content was below expectations. . My wife ordered the sirloin steak meal ... when it turned up the steak admittedly cooked very well was just that with a small bowl of chips.... no vegetables onion rings etc and similarly with with my mixed grill . My father had sea bass and commented in a similar vein that there wasn't much to it as a meal. All in all not much content to any of our family of 5 meals for the prices paid. 8/10

This is my local restaurant. I must confess that I haven't been been for a number of years, so when my partner and I visited on the 21.04.25, I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant looked lovely, it had obviously been refitted since I last visited. The food was amazing. I had the cheesy garlic mushrooms as a starter, which were probably the best that I'd ever had. Main meal was steak and malbec pie, with mashed potatoes and a lovely selection of veg. The pie was full of big chunks of steak, in a really juicy malbec gravy, it was so tasty. The veg was fresh and cooked to perfection. It was a fantastic meal, with great service. Booked the table after receiving the email regarding the Easter set menu. On arrival, we were shown to the table and given the normal menu, when asking about the set menu was told that it wasn’t available !! We chose from the menu and starters were ok, main course I chose fish and chips to which the fish was overcooked and dry and the batter was very thick and crunchy most of which I left on the plate and my wife chose the chicken pie which the pastry was very hard again this was left on the plate as it was not enjoyable. We never stayed for dessert and coffee as we had not enjoyed the main course .

Food was nice but came wrong for multiple parties. Long wait and waiter seemed like he was in a rush the whole time.

Staff were extremely friendly and the food was Devine. The ‘best pub pie’ really is the best and I highly recommend ordering it!

Lovely venue Daughters birthday meal Ordered Rib Eye got Sirloin; medium but it came like it was cooked in a microwave throughout Daughters tikka masala came with what can only be described as a frozen piece of cardboard as a naan Disappointed as I read good reviews; nice setting but food is Lower standard than witherspoons

After being very impressed by the offerings at The Farmhouse on many previous visits, the family and I visited again on 06/04/2025 and had a very different experience. We were greeted warmly and showed to the table. Then whist others who came in after us got their drinks and their food orders were taken, we waited 15 minutes without service, so I got up wandered to the bar and got my own drinks. I had do this twice throughout the meal. The total wait for food was 45minutes, and the food in general was just OK, nothing special and definitely not to the high standard it has been in the past. The Sunday roast however was very poor. It lacked any life and was just dry and bland and unappetising. The potatoes and other roasted veg had a pale, sad look and feel to them, kind of dry skinned and chewy and they stuck to the sides of ones teeth like they had been sitting under lights for hours. An anaemic stuffing "marble" sat cold and alone at the edge of the plate, probably contemplating diving from the rim and ending it all. The roast pork itself was depressing and I deeply sympathise with the pig that gave its life to end up like that... paper thin, dry and looking like a £1.99 Birdseye frozen meal. If someone told me I was served last weeks Sunday dinner which had been microwave reheated, I'd have easily believed them. Simply not good enough for a nice meal out and the price tag. It fell into the quality brackets of a cheap chain pub or school canteen. To be fair to them though, after leaving 90% of my meal on the plate and telling the staff of my displeasure, it was taken off the bill.

Hi, sorry to say, it wasn't great. The setting is lovely, and the £31 menu is a great offer for the weekend. But the quality of the food and service was really poor. I ordered the garlic mushrooms without bacon, it came with bacon (I'm not veggie so it wasn't life or death) but the dish was weird. Greasy, separated melted cheese, overcooked mushrooms, been under the hot plate so some of the cheese had bubbled/gone hard. My lamb main was also not great. The carrot was dry and unappetising, with a brown burn mark from where it had been under a hot light, and the roast potatoes were so bad I couldn't eat any. Tasted like really bad frozen cheap ones - definitely not worth £22.50. The 2 x kids pizzas tasted nice but both wildly different (one barely grilled, one very cooked), and again, ordered 2 x kids Puddings and one was a completely wrong dish. Overall, a very expensive, poor experience meal however we'd been out all day so just got on with it but won't be back sadly.

Food was delicious and hot. Service excellent. Menu was varied and catered for a vegetarian diner so very pleased .

Arrived at the venue and ordered drinks had to wait an age for them to arrive. The food wasn't too bad to be fair but when we ordered another round of drinks we had to wait ages again. One of the servers said they would sort something out on the bill for waiting but that didn't appear on the bill. I think they may need more staff. Not the best night out.

We came for an early Mother's day meal and had a great time; the food was all really tasty and piping hot, the extra requests we made for my daughter were done with no fuss and all of the team were welcoming and really friendly despite it being very busy. Good time had by all!

Two of us ordered the full English breakfast. We had to return them as the sausages were uncooked. The plates were returned with new sausages. The fried eggs were gelantinous. The toast was barely toasted. The tomatoes grilled only on the very top. Very poor quality.

Went to a baby shower here. we had an afternoon tea, and it was lovely. Service was great, plenty of tea and coffee supplied

Well what can I say. I was struck by the look of the place as soon as we pulled up. It was well looked after, the outside colour is gorgeous and we greeted by a very pleasant hostess on arrival. We were shown to our table and told who our named server would be. It was quite busy but well run. There was no rushing around and we were given a good 15 minutes once everyone arrived before the starters were bought out. We were a party of 13 celebrating my mums birthday. The starters were divine. I had the mushrooms and they were delicious. They asked how everything was and cleared the dishes promptly. There was a short break of about 15 minutes and the mains came out. I had the mixed grill again delicious. Everything was cooked well and the steak was brilliant. Tasty and cooked great. Pudding was chocolate brownie sundae and again was delicious. It was great cooking, great service and a lovely setting. We never felt rushed and were very well looked after. It was a little expensive but well worth the money and I’d definitely go back. I would also love to stay as there are rooms as well. Truly lovely afternoon.

Second visit. Kind of started badly and kept going downhill. Noone to seat us on arrival so our 6.30 reservation was 6.45 seating. We were put in the conservatory which was so noisy we eventually asked to move for dessert (people at the table next to us asked the noisy group to be quiet). Service was slow throughout and it felt like noone was really bothered about us enjoying the evening.

Lovely atmosphere. Staff very attentive and helpful. They had a separate gluten free menu with a good selection of options. Lots of parking too.

We had a large party of 11 people, the restaurant was very busy! George the waiter in charge of our table was amazing! It was a very enjoyable experience and a lovely surprise birthday brownie with happy birthday decorated beautifully beside it for our friend whose birthday it was. So thank you very much!

Good experience overall though not great for children. We came with a 2 & 5 year old. The knives and forks are full size adult forks, no appropriate drinks for them (fruit shoots etc) - they had apple juice but that came in a full size adult glass, we had to ask for straws to make it manageable, the seating was also poor for children and left them too far away from the table without trapping in the adult (we were on the central benches).

I’ll keep it simple - 1 hours wait for overpriced food. Lovely building and decent atmosphere but left my group waiting for so long, brought out meals that were missing items and just simply not worth £15+. The burgers in particular are very lacking. Probs the last time I’ll be here

Honestly if I had the option to give 0 stars I would, in the 24 years of my life I have never encountered such poor customer service the old bag who runs the place must’ve woke up the wrong side of the bed, much better customer service at a kebab shop from someone who doesn’t speak a word of English.

The place was really nicely set out, the atmosphere was great, it was really clean and the staff were really friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the food wasn't great. The burger we ordered was ok but the mixed grills were really disappointing. The meat wasn't great and tasted cheap which wasn't far off Weather Spoons quality but at least it cost 70% less there. The peppercorn sauce was also very poor.

We book every year and have never had a bad experience. Even when there issues the staff accommodate for it. The food is top notch 👌

Staff all seemed like they were on work experience, with little guidance. Staff struggling to deal with the amount of customers. We were a party of 2, and both ordered the Sunday roast, opting for the trio of meats. At £19.29 a plate this is not a cheap meal. The beef was a little tough, the other meats ok. The roast potatoes were very anaemic, needed another 10 minutes at least, the vegetables were a little sparse. We realised that the advertised red cabbage was missing and brought it to staff’s attention. We were eventually told they had ‘run out of red cabbage’ but not offered any replacement. The whole meal was warm rather than hot. Overall, for the price paid, it was a poor effort.

We had a lovely family visit to the Farmhouse. We thought the atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly & helpful and the food was delicious!

Went out for a quick meal somewhere we've never been before and this didn't disappoint! Lovely food and atmosphere, definitely will be returning.

Second visit and just as good as the first time. Absolutely lovely, will definitely come again. Great food and good portions. Served by George who was very friendly and provided really good service.

Great feel to this place, very clean and decor seems to be kept in good shape. Food is great, nothing out of this world but I would definitely revisit as it’s fair priced. Coffee is delicious here! Only thing that let it down slightly is staff seemed to not cope too well when it gets busy. But they did try their best.

We had booked a table for 4:30PM, and were advised that you were running 30 mins late on food however our mains did not arrive until 6:30PM. I'd ordered the Seabass as it comes with king prawns but it didn't quite match the menu as they were small cocktail prawns, and no Kale or Mange tout instead there was just a pile of frozen veg on the side (small green beans and peas) and the pie tasted microwaved. The waiter did not advise of any change before it arrived, very confusing for a 2 hour wait! Thank you to the waiter who sorted out not charging for the pie and was trying his best but the main issue was the time to wait - as whilst we were there tables who came in after us were being served their food and leaving before us!

Great food and service. I’ve been coming for years and have always been impressed.

Terrible service, me and my partner sat at the bar where we normally sit and eat but on this occasion I asked the bar staff if we could have a menu and was refused to be given one as was told by Ellie they are not serving food in this area even though the majority of the surrounding tables people were sitting at had all ate and had cutlery and sauces that hadn’t been taking away, just to rub it in our faces. We then stood waiting to be seated for a table of 2 and was told they are fully booked, turned away by a male member of your staff. We was devastated to had experience this as we have came to eat and drink at this place around 10 times and never had a problem like this before. To make it worse we walked away and decided to book somewhere else, when we sat in another restaurant we checked to see if we could book in, there were slots too book all past 6:15pm up until shutting time. I then rang and spoke to Ellie, she did apologise but I couldnt understand anything explained, I don’t see how the restaurant can be this badly organised. As a customer service assistant in my job we listen to people and don’t turn people away and tell the truth instead of lying

Environment was good. Service a little slow although maybe down to Jake being the only one around and seemingly rushed off his feet. Had the whitebait although the fish was much larger than expected and therefore didn't have the crunch. Maybe my definition of whitebait is not the same as the chef's. The garlic mushrooms and bacon was good, the accompanying bread however had a brief encounter with a grill and therefore too floppy to use effectively. The mains of seabass and lamb rump/mini pie were OK but not anything special. The veg however cooked wel, not soggy and had some crispness.Potatoes could have been a little crisper. Coffee was OK. The wine list showed prices for 175ml, 250ml and a bottle. I asked for small and medium glasses and was presented with a 125ml and 175ml glass. Further reading of the wine list showed that a 125ml glass could be available but nowhere does the price appear. Overall an average experience.

1st time visitors whilst in the area. Popped in on spec. Download a discount code whilst there, to make it even better! Fantastic food, service (from Jake) and drinks. We will be back!

I've been coming here for years and it used to be my fav place to go to, in it's heydays. Sadly, I don't feel that this is the case anymore. The service, while friendly, was very slow and the place wasn't even full. Above all, the food was really uninspiring. The pizza was average. Not sure what has changed there exactly, but it just wasn't great. The chicken sandwich was a bit of a joke and reminded me of school dinner - rather than restaurant level food. Soggy, un-toasted, cheap white bread with an overfried chicken goujon in between. Just sad. Maybe I just had bad luck and came here on a bad day but I felt it was worth sharing my disappointment.

Excellent, food, service and staff

A beautiful night, with good quality and flavourful food. The service was just outstanding, our waiter for the evening was Emily, she was absolutely phenomenal she had excellent customer service and ensured everything was perfect for us. We will definitely be visiting again. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, perfect food, outstanding service and an all round great experience guaranteed.

The atmosphere was really nice as soon as we walked in. We were a bit early for our reservation but the staff seated us right away. The staff were very attentive and lovely. There is a great selection of food and really good looking vegan/vegetarian options as well! Our roasts were fantastic and the tasty desserts rounded off an excellent meal. We will most certainly be back!

This is now the second time of visiting here for Sunday lunch and certainly isn't our last time. The food was amazing, prices are great for the quality of food and atmosphere. As always the staff are so polite and welcoming, we had fantastic service from Katie on this visit. We will be back. Thank you Farmhouse, see you again soon. Really nice place for a special occasion. Drinks are priced high but food is reasonable. Stayed over after a wedding and the facilities were excellent. Bead really comfy and shower spot on.

No available disabled parking spaces, the two near the door had cones in them. The only parking spaces available were near the Folly and not suitable for someone with mobility problems to walk without difficulty. A lot of items on the menu were sold out including steak and fish and chips. The chicken tikka masala was bland and unappealing. Won’t be in a hurry to return after this experience.

We had a fab Saturday lunchtime meal. The food was scrumptious and the staff were very friendly. There was a slight wait for our food but it was really tasty.

Came here a few weeks ago. Have been a few times before. Don’t really know any better options in the area. Food and service was very poor this time. My child’s macroni cheese was the smallest portion I think I’ve ever seen on a kids menu. Perhaps two dessert spoons of pasta. My poor child polished it off and was literally licking the bowl. I politely told the waitress that my child was still really hungry and it was the smallest portion I’d seen, even on a kids menu. Was there a mistake? I was met with a relatively rude response that it was “all decided in head office”. Eh? A gesture to get a tiny bit more for a very hungry child would’ve been appreciated. Even more so given the adult fish and chips was about the biggest portion I’ve seen. How odd. Appalling really, won’t visit again.

We were waiting a long time for our food to come out as they were a chef down. The server was amazing, very apologetic and offered us free puddings and a free round of drinks as an apology. The food was really nice, despite the long wait time we'll definitely be back

I arranged a family get-together and the Den was ideal. Abbi and Pippa were helpful and friendly when I was deciding on the room and the choice of food. On the day, Ben was polite and friendly, delivering the food and drinks on time. The food itself was excellent. Altogether, a super venue.

Went for an overnight work trip and from the evening meal to the stay to breakfast, it was all excellent. Every member of the team that we interacted with were friendly, polite and couldn't do enough for us. Louie served us for dinner so a special mention to him.

Disappointed the one real vegan choice of chickpea curry was unavailable, bit of a deal breaker really. It’s a ready meal. Surely we’d keep that In stock.

Really good food and excellent service. Just one small complaint is that the espresso martini was served in a wine glass and not a proper martini glass.

Can't fault this place, very well managed and run. Food was good, no one has any complaints about food or service. The only thing for me was that drinks were very expensive. If they could bring their prices down on their drinks then i would return.

I im never unhappy with the place ! The Sunday roast dinners are lovely apart from one thing! NEVER enough gravy! Had one yesterday, but honestly, it seemed like 2 spoon full of gravy was placed on my turkey that was it! But other than that the staff are always excellent! And very friendly
