Highly recommend this gem of a pub for Sunday lunch. Our Family of four arrived at the The Farmers Arms after a long journey back from North Wales. The meals were absolutely amazing! Both Adult and Children’s sized portions area available. Beef, Pork or Lamb or a nut roast were on the menu. Prices were clearly shown for one, two or three courses. We decided on beef and pork the meals were fantastic, served piping hot, the meat melted in your mouth, potatoes were tasty as was the gravy (extra gravy was served in a boat) vegetables broccoli, peas, carrots and cauliflower cheese were brought in serving dishes to help yourself all piping hot and cooked to perfection. The staff serving were very friendly and the toilets clean - cannot recommend a stop to eat at this pub enough - would give more stars if available!

This pub is very friendly and welcoming. We were looking for a quick meal on a long journey. We certainly were not disappointed. The food was of a great quality, cooked well and the staff could not be more helpful. The prices were very reasonable. We highly recommend this pub and will be returning again.

This is the forth Sunday lunch we have had since the pub reopened and we have had an excellent lunch every time. This time we went for Fathers Day and my fussy dad wasn’t disappointed. In his words the”beef melts in your mouth” and the apple crumble and custard “was absolutely delicious”. The standard of food, staff and atmosphere was excellent. The service from the staff was very, friendly and attentive. It’s about a 40 minute drive to the pub from where we live but well worth it. See you again soon.

On a random trip through Crickhowell, we fancied a Sunday lunch. Its was quite late in the day so our options were minimal in terms of booking last minute. But we found the Farmers Arms online for a 3.30pm, unbeknownst to us that they stopped serving food at 3pm and it shouldn't have taken our booking. When we arrived they explained this but put in every effort to ensure we enjoyed their Sunday dinner and that we definitely did! Great tasting pork, with all the trimmings that were incredibly seasoned. The staff are all extremely friendly and pleasant and ensured we were catered for during our meal. Highly recommended and great value for money! Don't just pass through. Make sure you stop here for a meal if you ever visit the Brecons!

Food was ok, nothing special, wasn’t warm enough for me, also quite small portion of dinner, 1 bowl of veg between 4 adults, vegan option veg was really poor not even a parsnip or Yorkshire pudding on there! And ordered in advance for the vegan in the group. Desserts had run out of some options even though we ate quite early, also again 1 vegan option and no vegan cream or ice cream to accompany it, still got charged full price….. also for my two year old I asked for some plain pasta ( just a small bowl as he wouldn’t eat a dinner) got charged £8 for it ( just plain pasta!!! I always leave a true review as this is what I would also like to read.

Scene setting: We're English and went for dinner at the Farmers Arms, just as England were playing Wales at Rugby. The place was heaving with locals watching the rugby all sporting their Welsh rugby tops - brilliant atmosphere. We sat in the restaurant area (just us, as everyone else was watching the rugby - we were too scared to join them ; ) ) and the team lit the open fire for us which was very much appreciated. Drinks came very quickly, along with menus. The beers were brilliant - highly recommend the Reverend James. We ordered food and didn't have to wait too long for our starters to arrive. OH had leek and potato soup. He said it was very tasty and the portion size was incredibly good. I had the Thai fish cakes with home made sweet chilli sauce - both of these were just wonderful. We both had the sirloin steak - fabulously cooked and very tasty. England then won the rugby! 😮 At this point we feared for our lives (and we were utterly relived that the food had arrived before the end of play ; ). It was also at this point that the lovely young waiter showed us the side door, just in case we needed a swift exit strategy! After the majority of locals had left (to go and have a cry about losing to the English), the manger came over for a chat. What a thoroughly lovely man. All of the staff were just wonderful. Great beer, food, service and very good value for money. Highly recommend. (I don't follow sport. I love Wales and the Welsh people - all of this is meant very much tongue in cheek xx)

Group of 14 staying locally for a walking weekend visited The Farmers Arms last Saturday. We pre-booked and pre-ordered for dinner and were looking forward to warm hospitality and some lovely home-cooked food. We weren't disappointed. From the welcome we received to the service throughout, everything was spot on. Catering for such a large group can be challenging but the whole team managed with ease, were friendly, and provided a fabulous service - with a smile. Thank you to everyone at The Farmers....you were great.

I spent time in the the area over summer camping. We stayed at a campsite a few minutes walk away where they’d suggested visiting the Farmer’s Arms for a drink and some dinner. What followed was us visiting every night we stayed because it was genuinely a super place to eat and drink. The landlord/chef was a cracking fella who made us feel really welcome. He also served without a doubt one of the best steak and ale pies I’ve ever eaten (no exaggeration). If I’m ever in the area again I’ll certainly pay a visit to the farmers arms.

Great little pub good ale House wine also good. Unusually very good for red meat eaters and vegetarians steak was great rare bordering blue and the bean burger was almost good enough for me to try a bit (I did and it was really good) we both had sticky toffee pudding left full as an egg. Quirky ordering and going to the front door to pay just added to a great lunch.

We spent quite a while trying to find a pub that was registered with the Eat out to Help out scheme and also actually open for food. Really pleased to find this one had good reviews and was open on a Wednesday. We were worried about the rainy weather forecast but messaged the pub who let us know that they have some covered tables. Some have a small marquee over them and others have gazebos. We booked food in advance with their online booking system so the food was ready when we arrived. Tables are booked for the whole evening and you can book your time slot for food so it is relaxed and you can stay chatting after. Drinks are ordered at the door and collected at a different door. Toilets are available too. Phew!We had a lovely meal (lamb tagine, beef dopiaza and a burger and chips followed by sticky toffee pudding) and we really enjoyed being back in a pub garden. Having the Eat out to Help out discount made for a bargain evening. Great to be supporting a community owned pub too.

We stayed in Cwmdu for a few nights and this is the only pub in the village. We initially popped in for a drink after a long walk with the the dog (the pub is very dog friendly) and were made very welcome. It's a nice traditional pub, which looks fairly plain from the outside but has lots of character inside! As we liked it we decided to reserve a table for tea the following evening. It was a little busier that night being a Saturday but again all of the staff were very friendly and doing their brilliant best to keep things running smoothly. There was a decent choice of meals on the menu - my ham, egg and chips was very nice and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her scampi. Generous portions meant that neither of us could face a pudding, which was a shame as I really wanted to try the cheeseboard! Decent choice of drinks for a relatively small pub - they had the Rev James and Butty Bach on the ale front which were both well kept. We would love to return at some point - if only all pubs were so welcoming!

Stayed at the campsite nearby for a couple of days and used pub for evening meals.Unsure of what to expect from the rather plain but tidy exterior.Should not have worried. Traditional interior of flagstones, open fires, real local ales, tasty food and full complement of friendly staff. Slow cooked welsh lamb with chilli and homemade mayo kebab was great.. twice (!) Quiet at 6.30 but filled up by 7.30 .. on a Wednesday evening - says it all..

We visited the Farmers Arms twice whilst on a 2 week stay in nearby Tretower & highly recommend the pub.The menu isn't large but what you do get is quality & some amazing flavours. The main course of Mexican chicken soup was to die for & a couple of the starters had unique combinations that certainly got the taste buds going. We received a warm welcome on each visit and enjoyed the general ambience of the pub. Meeting the gorgeous Peggy was an added bonus (20 week old red setter/poodle cross!).We had a 2 mile walk to get to the Farmers Arms but it was well worth it & given the general appeal of the place, we are planning on driving the 40 mins to it when we are back in the locality later in the year.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch at the pub in early 2013, on that occasion I would have rated it 3 out of 5 . However in June 2014 we decided to visit again for Sunday lunch. As soon as the starters arrived, we new this was a bad mistake. I ordered mushrooms in garlic sauce for a starter, Yes I had 5 mushrooms, but the quantity of sauce was barley enough for one!! My wife ordered pate on toast, - again a miniature portion with only one very small butter..- very skimpy starters. The main Sunday dinner was a carvery, I had beef and chose various veg.I was given small 4 pieces of beef, a Yorkshire pudding and a stuffing. I then chose potato, roast potato and sweed., the landlord then added gravy. The beef was largely fat, with only a small piece of beef actually edible. The stuffing was rock hard in the middle and could not be cut with the knife. The sweed was stiff, totally tasteless and seemed as if it was old and re heated. My wife ordered beef also, her meal was similar to mine. On completion of our meals both plates were left with large amounts of inedible food. This poor quality Sunday dinner together with two small glasses of lemonade and lime cost £27.00.!! I realise that small pubs need to survive, but this one will never again have my support!! Very disappointed. .

We stopped in for Saturday lunch one sunny afternoon in late March.Pints in the grassy garden out back, then solid pub-grub (enormous gammon & egg & chips (£8ish, from memory), good rump steak (about £11), home-cooked beef stew and the like) in the cosy-cottagey bar indoors . There was really good local ale on tap, well-kept and served with a friendly hello. The interior decor is pretty standard country pub fare, neither especially rustic nor tarted up with Farrow & Ball. The only other punters were a group of ladies who'd been riding nearby - their horses were all tied up Wild West-style out the back. The landlord was perfectly welcoming - we came in with a friend who grew up in the village, who still drinks there happily whenever he's about. We'll be back soon.

We have been visiting The Drover's for around 25 years. As a full Family initially, now just the two of us. Peter and his Team never disappoint. The welcome is always friendly and we do enjoy a modest pre Lunch drink in the cosy snug out the back. The views of the river are spectacular. It was a bit chilly to be sitting outside on the balcony but one brave chap did take his coffee out there! The food, well, you can't call it 'just Sunday Lunch! It's a foodie treat! Plenty of beautifully cooked food. Always hot and tasty. The quality is certainly there as well. Cannot fault anything and the Sweets are to die for! The atmosphere is invariably pleasant. A good mixture of Walkers, Holiday makers and Locals. Thanks so much for everything over the years Peter. Myself and fiancé ordered a full English, food was lovely not one fault and clear plates. I had a cappuccino which was tasty and perfect. We were approached and asked if everything was okay during our meal. We paid with cash and left a tip as we were very pleased. We will definitely be attending again on our next stay.

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.
