We had the Feast menu - by choice - and nothing disappointed. I’ve worked and travelled in Thailand quite a lot over the last 25 yrs and this was definitely not “standard Thai fare”! That said there were a couple of “more familiar” items on the a la carte side but if you are looking for spicy- hot and fiery - then Farang is not that. At least not just that. However, if you are looking for great flavour and complexity, then I suggest it has that. That may say more about what I’d been exposed to while travelling but that distinctive novelty is what appealed to us. The dishes were really well balanced and I loved the way that different flavours would emerge during a mouthful. The food kept me completely interested just waiting to what to see what would waft through as the next flavour! I’d normally say if I read that, that that was pretentious! But it’s not something I have often experienced, so I am letting you know. True, some dishes had more of that “flavour journey” than others but that was part of the fun. Service was great and exactly as I like it: no one hovering but were there when needed and always helpful and considerate. I have a shell fish allergy and that was taken care of seamlessly - indeed I think I lucked out on one replacement dish only I had! I am always appreciative of people who respond creatively to such issues and Farang scored 10/10 there. Finally, and this sums up the culture in the restaurant, I dropped my newly recharged (non allergenic!) Oyster card as we left. Not only did they call us to let us know they had it but three days later it arrived at home in Bristol through the mail. I’ve looked at some of the negative reviews and frankly don’t recognise the place that is being described. But we are all entitled to our opinion. We enjoyed the whole experience and will return! I note that Farang has a recipe section which I will give a try!

Nice atmosphere, rather ad hoc service. But the food, so disappointing. Just average, tasty, but also unhealthy, pretty much everything apart from the rice has been deep fried, mostly in batter, with a lot of salt added. Even the roti was deep fried and then covered in salt and SUGAR! The kitchen is visible and we saw that the potatoes which went into the beef stew ( not much beef in it by the way, mostly potatoes) are cooked in the deep fat fryer, mercifully without a coating of batter. So go if you don't mind all that as it is tasty but we did not feel good after that meal, and were thirsty all night too. Disappointing.

Tables of 6 have no a la carte ordering option and are forced to order the Feasting menu. This makes the restaurant incredibly non-competitive as most establishments treat 6 people as a normal sized table. What shocked me even more is the lack of flexibility on the restaurant's part as they would not even entertain the option of pre-ordering our own selection of dishes. We were very excited to visit Farang, but unfortunately will have to give it a miss.

A small place with few tables and very cozy. We tried almost everything on the menu with great satisfaction. It's unusual that they don't serve the tasting menu for two people unless the other diners also order it. Very friendly and efficient staff. You can also buy some products from the shop. I recommend it."

First time family visit to this restaurant, we were greeted with ample smiles as we arrived and were taken to our table to get settled, the space itself was simple , comfortable and authentic , our server Fabiano was very friendly and had a good knowledge of the menu, he was attentive throughout the course of the evening , always in hand nearby if needed. We ordered multiple dishes from the menu including starters, small & large plates consisting of a variety of meats and veggies which were all beautifully cooked and presented , and to be fair they all tasted very good , the family favourite was the beef shin curry or “ Gaeng gatti “ , the beef was soft and tender and the curry was well made, tasty with a nice little kick , all in all we had a great time with the family and would definitely go back !

Superb. Wherever you’re coming from to have dinner here, it’s worth the journey. This place is unpretentious and the staff care about everything they serve. Rarely do you hear about what goes into your dish and the preparation to produce such excellent food. This is not good food, this is exceptional food. We absolutely loved it. Best Thai inspired food in London, and would give many of the best restaurants in Thailand something to compete with. 100%. Unmissable dining experience.

I can’t begin to tell you how disappointing g this restaurant was, I had read reviews, seen incredible photos of the food months ago, so booked for a birthday dinner and visited on 16th March with my partner. We opted for feasting menu and it was far from a feast, two tiny pieces of chicken ( prob best dish) some prawn crackers a prawn in bettel leave and then served the tiniest sea bass with hardly any white meat, then opted for beef shin curry, which had 2 wafer thin pieces of beef the rest potato’s, the desert we ordered was nasty and left it after one mouthful. Bill came to £220 without a bottle of wine, we had a glass n half each. Don’t understand all the incredible reviews, we eat out regularly and have superior food in most local Thai, Vietnamese cafes. This place was a serious let down and we traveled across from west London for this experience. Overpriced, overhyped and the feasting menu is seriously NO FEAST. Have emailed restaurant who have failed to respond. Have many friends in this area and have advised them against visiting and told them of our experience. So, so disappointing after reading reviews, we left feeling hungry and angry.

A Really Good Food Experience! A quaint and unpretentious restaurant with suitable wooden furniture featuring a large window looking out to the main road. Super friendly and helpful staff. Fresh and well presented tasty food. Spicy, fragrant, imaginative and textured (do I sound a bald chap with glasses on the BBC?). This is superb cooking with great tasty Asian flavours. Some dishes are presented on a folded leaf to be eaten whole. Great fun! The only niggle was that some dishes were over-sweetened with palm-sugar that dominated the food. Still very nice.

This was my second visit to Farang and I arrived hoping it was as good as I remembered, particularly as I had massively hyped it up to the friends I was with. We were seated at a lovely table by the window. Our waitress was really attentive and friendly, and dealt with our chaotic ordering style with a smile. The food is, without a question, phenomenal. I eat out a lot in London and Farang remains firmly planted as one of my favourites. We started with two portions of the crackers and two dipping sauces - sweet chilli and burnt chilli, and this was an excellent start to the meal. The crackers, made in house, are so unlike commercial prawn crackers with true flavour of prawn. The small plates (which aren’t that small!) are so tasty with both subtle and punchy flavours - the crispy chicken is outstanding (especially with the burnt chilli dip which has a really good heat to it), and the salad which comes with the (soft, tender) pork belly compliments it beautifully. For mains, our friends shared the sea bass, whilst my husband and I got the jungle and prawn curries. We all shared some sticky rice and roti. Our friends said the sea bass was absolutely beautiful, soft, cooked perfectly and so flavoursome. The prawn curry was rich and fragrant, and the generous number of huge, delicious prawns made it great value for money. The beef in the jungle curry was melt in your mouth tender, and the broth packed full of flavour. The rotis deserve their own paragraph, but I will summarise that they are buttery, flaky and delicious. My husband (the bottomless pit that still had room) got the pannacotta special and said it was faultless, and the rest of us got a pot of fresh mint tea each. For drinks, the table had four cocktails, two beers and two cokes. All of the above plus service came to £50pp which I think given the quality, atmosphere, service and sheer amount of food is extremely fairly priced. I will literally *run* back as soon as I can.

A restaurant pretty local to me that I visit fairly frequently for lunch with my wife. Good service, nice interior (although visible riffing on the Italian trattoria that it used to be, in a good way). The food is really amazing - shout out to the Miang Bites. Smoked chicken curry is also very good. Portions are large - one starter and main is normally enough to share for lunch.

I first visited Farang in, I think, 2017, when it was supposed to be only a transient pop up. Thankfully, it has become an enduring presence and retained the great, vibrant flavours I remembered from my first visit. I particularly like that all dishes are punctuated with the heat and spice seen in the authentic Thai kitchen. Clear thought obviously goes into presentation, too: the dishes are pretty with crunchy, attractive garnishes. Particular highlights for me were the betel leaf parcels, a mix of savoury, spicy, sweet and sour (though I nevertheless felt the sweet had slightly too much prominence in this fine balance), as well as the roti served with the curry main, which was so buttery, fresh and delicious. I also really enjoyed the flavours of the sauce the whole sea bass swam in; with the sticky rice it was extremely eatable. Service was pleasant throughout, but a few constructive points: 1. Maybe I’m a pedant, but I like to be offered chopsticks in (South) East Asian restaurants 2. Be more generous with serviettes: albeit delicious, this is a fishy and sticky experience and we would’ve liked not to have felt we were rationing paper napkins 3. By the same ilk, it would’ve been nice to receive a citric wipe at the end of the feasting menu to refresh one’s hands with

Every dish we ordered tonight was exciting including the crispy kale snacks but especially the Miang and battered chicken starters. The former was a tip from our lovely waiter and one of his favourite dishes. So many flavours in each bite. We had the prawn curry’s with a roti and rice to share and a side order special which was a sweet and sour salad and which one of the chefs came to explain which was fascinating, zingy and delicious. Great atmosphere and a wonderful team and when we hadn’t managed to finish everything we were offered the option to take some home. Found a new north London favourite.

Finally managed to try Farang because there's no chance to get a table without a booking. Thai food is one of my favourite cuisines but finding a restaurant in London that sits in the sweet spot (between price and quality) is not an easy task. Farang is that place, a no-frills restaurant but uses high-quality ingredients and also offers a selection of delicious house cocktails. Service is a bit slow but the food makes it up for it, spicy, sour and bold, as traditional Thai food should taste but with a touch of finesse. And the bonus is their pantry, which offers homemade sauces, Thai ingredients and ready-cooked meals. I'm looking forward to trying their Thai tasting menu!

Arrived at 7pm. General manager gives me menus without saying a word of a welcome. At 7.30 he rudely says to us you need to be out by 9 so you need to hurry up. He also at this point accused me of coming at 6 which was untrue. He then told me I should have known the table was until 9 as it was in the booking confirmation. It was not. I know a lot of restaurants have this but the manner in which this was said was appalling. We only ordered mains and this came at 8. At five to 9 he said you have 5 minutes. Completely shocked my by this experience we were telling one of the managers our story when the general manager himself came over and said what’s the problem, do you need more time, go and sit in the corner. He proceeded to say that we need to order straight away or the tables become out of sync. Well that should also be stated clearly and not really the customer’s problem. He proceeded to just reiterate lies that we ordered one hour in when it was half a hour which seems like a reasonable amount of time. At no point did any waiting staff help us with the menu or explain how many dishes to order so no wonder we spent some time deciding. He also reiterated that he told me I had til 9pm when he gave me the menus but he categorically did not. He ought to put sand timers on all tables. I have no idea how anybody would fit it more than one course in this restaurant without inhaling food. When we were leaving a massive group were also told to stand up with their drinks. Unfortunately service charge was included. The general manager also decided to tell me he has never has a complaint before but I can see people have. I will definitely NOT be returning!

Despite high hopes for Farang, I have to be honest and rate it based on my experience. The staff were very nice - so I am shocked to see snarky responses to bad reviews on here- but unfortunately the food isn’t. Some dishes were so spicy that they were inedible while others such as the chicken were poor quality cuts. None of the dishes were to my taste so unfortunately I wouldn’t return though I wish them all the best.

Finally a Thai restaurant that isn’t afraid to pack the punch the cuisine is famous for. We opted for the “Feasting Menu” which really is tremendous value - £45pp for 8 dishes (your free choice of any of the small/big plates, all three sides and...

Four of us went for the tasting menu last night - what a treat ( if you enjoy vibrantly spiced dishes). The flavour bomb in the miang starter, following by the best mussels we’d ever tasted, not to mention the beef cheek mussiman curry and...

Had dinner in Farang last night and it was sensational. We had prawn and chicken small plates which were both amazing. The chicken was extremely spicy! The prawn dish was very different - wrapped in leaf with grapefruit and turmeric. From the large plates we...

Amazing food, best Thai I've had. Authentic flavours and perfect portion sizes. Starters are nicely spicy, mains are less spicy and wonderfully complex flavours.

A few other patrons seem to have responded with similar sentiment. The food is generally flawless. Our table did the taster menu. Every dish was excellent, the fried chicken was a highlight. I would also recommend the spiritual goat cocktail, which was divine. However we...

We got off to a terrific start at Ferang, taking window seats on a warm evening and kicking off with cocktails, cava and miang (prawns, nuts, shallots, spices served on betel leaves). Fishcakes that followed were punchy with kafir lime, if a little bready in...

We enjoyed the meals, great flavours but for the future customers I’d like to point out a quite important detail “the feasting menu” 10 dishes price will be multiplied by the people sitting at the table. So if there are 3 people, then you pay...

Fantastic, vibrant, punchy food. I've been here three times and look forward to returning. Tempura chicken with scotch bonnet, jungle curry & rotisserie are particular favourites.

I was curious as I saw the advertisement of the book from the chef Sebastian Holmes and, as I live locally, I decided to go and check myself if it was worth to buy it. Well, the food is not only delicious but you can...

This is a little gem that clearly everyone but me has discovered...until now. I headed here for a few friends for the first time and can not wait to hit foot it back. This place was pretty empty at 1830 on a Friday, but it...

I had heard many good things about the food at Farang, most of which was true. The starters in particular were excellent - the whiskey, lime and honey cured salmon was amazing if a little small. My partner loved the crispy chicken with scotch bonnet...

My boyfriend found this place online and from the reviews that he has read it is suppose to serve very authentic Thai food similar taste to those found in Thailand. I went with high expectation and although price is slightly higher than average it was...

We have just returned from the nicest meal at Farang. We visited after getting the cookbook from the owner. The food is incredible and the portions are very big, making it good value. We had the duck wontons, special lamb massaman which was incredible, the...

Had the seafood small plates and seabass all which were amazing. Cocktails were a let down however as contained barely any alcohol, which was a shame given everything else.

Having moved to the UK from Aus the biggest thing I missed was quality Asian food. I mean London is a melting pot for everything right? No, I couldn't find great Thai, and at best a couple of pubs had some relatively decent Thai when...
