Fairmile Fisheries in Christchurch

Been here several times for some Fish & Chips for lunch. All cooked to order and very tasty. Try the curry sauce ! Keep it up

This is probably the best fish and chips in the area when you factor in price and access. The do good quality fish and chips plus other items (sausages etc) and are all cooked freshly to order. It can get busy e.g. Saturday dinner, but other times you'll be fine. Even when it's busy, just set your expectations. They have a system which calls you when the food is ready. This is all classic, basic, fish and chip takeaway territory. It's popular, it's reasonable value, there is parking very close nearby and the owners are friendly. In the area and want the classic take away, then this is it. (People I know say it's expensive but it's no more expensive than anywhere else - my tip is the portions are huge so perhaps get one and share - it's enough for regular appetites).

This was one of the best chippies in the area but I hadn’t been there for a while until last week and I was very disappointed. I bought cod and chips to eat at Milford on Sea. The chips were soggy and tasted like boiled potatoes which had been soaked in fat. The fish was undercooked and was pretty tough so I put it all in a frying pan when I got home and finished off the cooking but by this time there was no batter left on the fish because it was pasty and had slid off. It tasted ok after I had cooked it properly but the cooking oil just ran out of the food. I’m guessing they turned the fryer temperature down to save energy but that is always a recipe for poor food. I was asked if I wanted salt and vinegar. I said no but got it anyway. On the positive side portion size was good, the price was reasonable, the staff were friendly enough and the shop looked spotless as always. In particular it is usually easy to park right outside. I only leave reviews if something is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad.

Absolutely fantastic food. Nice big fresh fish batter perfect chips very nice had a pea fritter and a cheeky battered banger too both very indeed. Always nice and polite service cooked to order on fish but the wait is well worth it and not long at all. Probably one of the best chippys I been to.

Cannot remember exactly the last time but this was one of the first I went. What can I say? Very lovely staff. The owner was extremely chatty and spoke to me about my job and that. The fish was cooked amazingly and the batter was crisp and crunchy. Chip portion was extremely generous and certainly something I could have eaten separately or with a meal. I had tried Large Cod and jumbo battered sausage with chips on my visits. Would certainly go back again in the future

I went here with my daughter on Saturday night after the stomping on the quomp..we only wanted chips and curry sauce…to be told it’s CASH only…we waited for a friend that had popped in to co op for cash..as I went back inside the man in a really rude way shouted we’re closed..he needs to learn some manners and customer service skills…ALSO cash only…maybe the inland revenue needs to know this..we definitely won’t be going back…

Have visited many times over the years.The staff/owners are pleasant, often fairly quiet unless they know you, then they are more chatty. Majority of the time the food/cooking is very good, but occasionally the fish batter can be a little oily. The cod itself is always lovely quality and cooked well, haddock when I’ve had it has not been so good. Chips beautiful - plentiful and not oily. Keep going back as overall a very decent place. Queues prove that! Btw it’s cash only.

We have had lunch frim here on several occasions, and always very pleased with the wuality and portion sizes. Fish is generally cooked fresh, as ordered which is great, and chips are a good Always a friendly welcome from the owners, and popular with the locals.

Ordered fish and chips for the family, cooked fresh to order however not really very good fish, fish was over cooked and dry, batter lacked taste and laid very heavy on the stomach....curry was powdery and peas were dry...I’ll not bother going back here

Everything cooked to order without a long delay . Food very hot and good quality. Free parking outside.

Been there twice for lunch and on the first time I thought it was okay but slightly pricey. The second time I thought the chips were too undercooked.

The best chippy, Always such lovely food received from here, regular visitors every Friday. It’s so busy you have a wait but totally worth it.

Lovely fresh fish and chips cooked to order, we had cod and chips, really huge fish and hand cut chips. Delicious - its the chippy that the locals use - always a good sign.

We popped in here after a long day on the road visiting family. We live in Christchurch but usually go to a different chippy. We ordered 2 jumbo plain sausages with chips and mushy peas. The staff were friendly and the food cooked freshly, which meant a bit of a wait. However it was worth it as it was delicious. Great chips and fab sausages.. I loved the peas too, just the right consistency. We will definitely come again.

This fish and chip shop has been run by the present owners a long time, they're friendly, work hard and serve the usual range of stuff.They don't cook loads of stuff and just leave it in the warmers, so you're likely have to wait a few minutes especially if wanting fish. The upside is food is freshly cooked, the slight downside for me is the fish sometimes comes a bit oily, you know nice crunchy batter but a film of oil between that and the fish. Probably just a personal taste but prefer fish cooked and drained for a bit longer.Other than that it's a decent chippy.

We had bought food from here before and been very happy with the quality. Arrived early evening on Saturday night to a full shop, asked about card payment and was directed to a cash machine two doors down at the coop. I ordered the food and made my way to the cash machine.

Fuimos allí por 7. ayer eveving 30 tener salchichas y patatas fritas. No nos preguntaron si queríamos que la sal y el vinagre, pero tenía demasiado de ambos. Las patatas fritas eran obviamente recalentados y difícil y la salchicha estaba recargado. Todo lo que pudimos probar era sal. El precio era normal, y el tiempo de espera de los clientes a pesar de unos largos. No volvería allí.

Really good, not soggy or greasy! Friendly service, parking outside! Can get busy but if you go on later it's usually quieter.

Yo he tenido durante años, patatas fritas, así que fuimos a este "fish and chips" para un almuerzo para llevar. Pedí el churro de guisantes y patatas fritas, el dueño me dijo cómo su pea buñuelos no estaban heladas, pero empapada y maltratada por ellos, y parecía un churro tradicional pea. No plano como mucho te dan hoy en día, y no congelado.

Me encanta el pescado y las patatas fritas desde aquí siempre fresco buenas porciones y grasiento, muy popular, así que siempre recomiendo venir temprano excelente con niños excelente relación calidad-precio que vienen aquí cada semana así que usted intente no te arrepentirás

Lovely clean resturant. Very friendly staff. Excellent value. Good size portions. Would recommend. Also easy to park out side.

Reliable good non greasy fish and chips. Good price. Also do cat tit bits if you ask. Can be a queue as so popular.

Mustapha always takes great care to prepare the best fish. His wife takes great care to cook it and you dont need to do anything but EAT

They are always busy. However the chips are definately worth the wait. If you want fish it seems to be always cooked fresh for you. The only downside is that they only take cash payments. There is a cash machine near the garage next door.

Getting home late from work this evening decided to treat the family to fish and chips... What we actually got was which seemed to be frozen oven chips fried up!!!! After we had been given our food they said to the customers behind they had ran out of chips it was close to closing time I admit but you don't expect to hear that!!We have had chips from here many of times before and never been disappointed but tonight we definitely was!!!

This small fish and chip shop is situated in a parade of shops on Fairmile Road. The fish is always freshly cooked to order, and is fresh and tasty. the portions are sensible and the prices are average.I use this fish and chip shop on a regular basis and to date have never had any cuase to complain

Excellent portions, freshly cooked and not swimming in grease. Good selection available - can personnaly recommend the haddock. Thoroughly recommend!

Visited here, by chance, half way through a 6 hour journey to Devon, just before closing time on a Thursday evening,but that didn't affect the quality of the food we ordered. All freshly cooked these cod and chips were the best we have had in years. We will definitely visit again when in the area.

Good sized portions, lovely chunky chips and fresh fish fried in clean oil for the best taste. My favourite 'chippy' despite the one time I had bad service, yet I still go back again and again. Value for money too.

found the chips very greasy and fish over cooked, do not think i shall be returning here.I only tried cod n chips with not so mushy peas.

Best chippy ever, always get my chips from there, not found one better, no the owner rather well now and they are always very polite. Food is very tasty and not greasy at all. Amazing :)

We have recently moved into the area and although we rarely have take-aways, we decided to try Fairmile Fisheries and have now gone back three times. The standard of the food is fantastic and everything is cooked to order, so you may have to wait a little while but it is well worth it. Judging by the way the staff speak to their customers, many of them are regulars and I can't say that I'm surprised. If you're looking for a quality fish and chip take-away in Dorset, this is the place to come!!
