Lame effort here. Battered sausage cold, chicken and mushroom pie was tasteless, chips very greasy and bland. Over priced. Staff miserable. Will avoid in future.

Been a number of times and it's been good and reliable. But tonight in particular, I genuinely had the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. Amazing. I hope the team/owner reads this, your staff and food are great, you're doing everything right. Thanks.

Worst customer service I have ever had 2 large cod and chips with curry and gravy £37 They served so many people after us - we waited over 35 mins for the take away with zero apology. Staff need a course of how to treat customers!!!

The food is good, and not greasy, unlike some fish and chips. However, I wasn't very impressed with the service. I get that it was close to closing time, but the time you serve until, should be the time you serve until, and that service should remain the same. Unfortunately our order was rushed through and some of it was missed off the order. By the time that was realised, we were made to feel awkward about the issue and ended up leaving without all of our order, just so that they didn't have to process the missed items, and could instead, finish closing up. If the service had been better I would probably have recommended this place

Scampi and chips, fishcake and chips were absolutely delicious. Chips were not at all greasy, crispy and fluffy, can't say for the sausage but the dog absolutely woofed it down so definitely got his seal of approval! (Needs must when having a takeaway to keep him happy!) Quick and easy service and incredibly reasonably priced! Top marks and would recommend!

We visited Christchurch and wanted some fish and chips. The Catch was the closest to where we were staying, so we decided to go here. I am glad we did! The food was fantastic with good portions. The fish was flaky but not dry, and the batter was crunchy like battter should be. The chips were lovely, and well cooked. They had a slightly crunchy texture which I really liked. The kids had the children's meal which includes an item from a choice of 4, chips, and a drink. The kids' meal portions are very generous and range from £3.50-£5. I highly recommend The Catch if you are in the area or visiting Christchurch.

Quick service, excellent quality food quick friendly staff

A little pricey but well worth it, best cod and chips we've had in a longtime! Kids meals were decent too and only £3.50 for sausage, chips and a drink!

Having bought fish and chips a few times here, fish was fine, but chips weren't the greatest! Too much debris included.

I have used this fish and chip shop on many occasions and the quality of the food has always been excellent.

Chips are bloody amazing, proper proper crispy 👌 how chip shop chips should be!

Lovely Fish and Chip shop! Light fluffy fish, chips as crisp as you like, large portions and friendly staff. Great quality for the price. They even brought us a mint chocolate when we had finished!

The assistant, gave the impression that he did not want to be there , and while waiting for me order , he sat on the counter near the till , then was told off by another member of staff , food excellent staff blaisa

Always get my fish and chips here, maybe I'm a creature of habit, but this is my nearest chippy and have never had any complaints. Staff always cheery. Staff are quite young or maybe I'm getting old but always polite and helpful.

Had gorgeous fish and chips when I was down in Highcliffe on a break. They were so nice I ate every crumb. 😊😊

Popped in for quick cod and chips. 5 staff members on duty and only one customer waiting for their order. All staff just blanked me for 3-4 mins until I asked if I could order something. No sense of urgency to serve customers, no atmosphere and cold chips. For the same price, I could have sat down for steak and chips at the Harvester..😕

A solid 4 all day long. Popped in here as needed to eat quickly & had a sit down Haddock & chips with mushy peas & a pot of tea which was very nice. The service was great too & staff were very obliging. I would have liked the chips a little crisper but they were pretty standard for a f&c shop, & the tomato sauce too which was sachets was ok. It is what it is, clean & hospitable, decent fish & chips, which I can recommend. Sit down or take away, your best option for Fish & Chips in Highcliffe, so give The Catch a try.

So it's taken a while as I thought I'd give them a chance but it's not improving! Walking in on Saturday with a couple of other customers and you find 4 members of staff behind the counter chatting with arms folded and no interest in welcoming you at all! Small portions compared to other chip shops, barely warm food and expensive so all in all..... poor 👎

We had a meal here whilst on holiday. The food was quite tasty, but a bit expensive. The service was friendly, but not much atmosphere in the restaurant. It was very clean though. Wouldn't particularly recommend to family or friends.

We arrived with only minutes to spare before the restaurant side closed. We were greeted by one of three young men working there. We were shown to our table and quickly placed our order. It wasn't long before the food arrived but had it been longer it would still have been worth it, delicious. The staff were a credit to the company.

I love a local when on holiday and did read the reviews for this place and from that decided against it 🤷‍♀️ BUT... I looked at berties and the price was way over my budget and plus they've too many shops. Lin's was also looked at. But I went to the catch and glad I did. Fish was cooked fresh and the chips 😍😍😍😍😍😍 omg I do love a good chip lol the fish was crispy and full of flavour, so I can't understand the other review. But I will say this m8 your staff need to be older and people friendly. It's letting your lovely F&C shop down. Common sense with the amount of salt and vinegar given and a flick of the wrist with the most miserable looking face ever seen. Let her get a job in tescos or morrisons and hire a friendly woman with a bit of chat ❤ but your fish was fantastic and your prices outstandingly reasonable. Thank you for making our stay tasty

This place does great food and usually has fantastic service, however on my last visit I was served by an older lady who offered a scowl and a reprimanding tone.

Best fish and chips in Christchurch

The food was good and the speed and efficiency of service was excellent but I did think the portion sizes, for the price, were a little small. Although costs are rising for small businesses, it looks like the chip and battered fish portion sizes have been reduced since some of the photos on here.

4 stars for the fact that it was open on a Sunday evening. The queue was long and there was a long wait but the staff were very helpful and brought our orders out to us. 2 stars for the food. The chips were soft and soggy and small portions. My savaloy was tasteless, thin and I think the skin was plastic. Horrible. My friend hated her place and chips. I thought the long queue indicated good food but I was wrong. I'm not sure why the chips were soggy when there was such a high demand. They should have been fresh, hot and crispy. Not a pleasant experience except for the nice staff.

Very busy, disgusting plaice and chips. About 12 chips and the plaice batter was not cooked. Both were suck to the paper in the box. Costed me £10.60 and we stopped as reviews were good before travelling back home. Very disappointed.

Today I arrived before 13:30pm for a quick lunch break. Waited a couple of minutes next to the sign "Wait here to be seated" until the waiter noticed I was standing there. He swapped the sign by one indicating "the sitting area was closed" and simply ignored me. I asked if I could sit for 5 minutes to have my lunch and he only repeated the message on the sign. I can't believe people can be so rude.

Unfortunately the quality of the chips seems to have gone down over last few months. Chips use to be loverly here, not any more unfortunately. Don't think I will bother coming here again as the chips were stale or overcooked. Shame really as the chips use to be loverly and well cooked with some just the right amount of chrispy. And the business Don't seem to be bothered about bad reviews.

Great food, atmosphere is a bit weird though

Best chippie around, always queues at dinner time for a reason

Food was OK, service was a bit slow. The fish was left in open containers, next to people queuing for the till. They were there for a few minutes, anyone queuing could have touched, sneezed or coughed on them. When the fish and chips are put in containers, they should get closed straight away.

We've been here quite a lot as it's my grandma's favourite. The food is good, the fish is not too greasy and the chips are a nice mix of soft and crispy. I find the burgers are very bread heavy and it's quite dry in your mouth. This place can get quite busy and is open most days of the week. Service let us down on our last visit. The two teenagers at the till didn't seem interested to be there and we waited a while to be served. The chefs also kept staring at people waiting with a blank look on their face. We'd still go there for the food but not the service.

We haven't been here in a long time and probably won't again. It took half an hour to get our meal and the only thing they had to cook was our chicken bites because my battered sausage was already sat in the hot hold from the moment I paid till 30 minutes later when the chunks were eventually cooked. 2 of the 3 girls assembling the meals were more concerned with thier nails and touching their face and the 2 preparing the food didn't seem in to be in much of a hurry to do anything. After all that the sausage was cold, the battered chicken was soggy and the chips weren't great.

The fish and chips were tasty a little bit greasy but really nice, my daughter commented on the girl behind the till that served us, she was so grumpy and we didn’t feel welcome, the other guests in the queue were really chatty mind

Food was wonderful and all staff very helpful, we got our food within a few minutes and it was a fairly large order. Tried a battered creme egg and was way better than I was expecting! Plus watching the fellow behind the till fold the takeaway boxes was mesmerising. Can't really fault it

Polite and friendly staff. Loads of chips on the plate! Thought the fish portion looked a bit small, but turned out to be just right! (Couldn't eat all the chips though....just too many for us). I had haddock, my wife had cod....both fresh and tasty. We recommend this establishment.

Ordered One small cod .£6,70 ( takeaway) and it was small! expensive yes, large cod was £8.90 small chips £2.60 ( price not a problem if the fish is fresh and cooked to order, and the serving size is fair, I Don't know how long it had been kept warm, far too long! Not recommended. Better quality fish and cooked to order, and larger portion size expected at those prices. Better to throw a fish away than keep it warm for long periods and lose a customers that tell others of your poor experience.

Below average, stingy on the chips and the fish festooned with batter to hide its small size. Lots of staff, not much getting done. Expensive and disappointing.

Lovely fish and chips. Really crispy fish, I think being served in a box might help that. Could perhaps have done with a few more chips but that is me being greedy and the chippy probably shouldn’t lose a star because of that.

Food was really tasty. Chips are a mixture of cripsy and soft a fluffy, so accommodates for all the family. The cod wasn't greasy and was really tasty. We also had onions rings which were really nice. We will definitely be coming back again. Although it was super busy when we arrived, we didn't have to wait for too long and the food was piping hot. Great chippy!

I've been here twice and the customer service is always brilliant. They are so nice, polite and attentive. I love their chicken bites and chips, always hot and well made.
