I've rated this pub 5 stars as I happen to think it's great as a pub, good beer, prices etc. I would however caution against going into the back room on a Saturday afternoon. Despite being in there first and with no warning or signage an act (three people) turned up and started an impromptu gig... to themselves! No audience. It was made clear to us that if we wanted to talk, we should move elsewhere! Why the pub allow these people to perform (to themselves!) only and disturb us is beyond me. I got the impression they felt that they "owned" the place and we were not regulars.

Great atmosphere for a cosy pint and traditional live music

Atmosphere holds the place together, really nice place to grab a pint at anytime, feels traditional and that it isnt trying too hard, guiness supposedly the best in Sheffield. Probably my favourite pub in Sheffield, friendly staff too. I haven't tried their food yet

Good beer and hearty food....with superb trad music sessions. Glad to be a frequent visitor.......been going years now and the Saturday Afternoon music session is a blast.......give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Went to this pub to celebrate St Patrick the Patron Saint of Nigeria only to find the good people of Fagans had decked the place out with Nigerian green, a lovely touch, seemed popular with Irish people that day too, I don't know why.

I’ve been going in fagans since around 1985 with my old band mate Patrick Walker we been in this afternoon for st Patrick’s day and I was disappointed beyond words no atmosphere no music and the toilets are absolutely disgusting I’ve never been in there in all my time and been more disappointed! We went to the Grapes before Fagans and it was packed the spirit of the day was absolutely amazing live music and it was absolutely ramed with people where as Fagans was empty and I can see why, I’ve always loved going to Fagans when Tom had it it had th Irish spirit, unfortunately not anymore I’m sorry to say !! Fagans you need to up you game to get it as it was when Tom had it

Excellent beers and pies. Good to see bass on tap and a variety of pies and sausage rolls. Great pub.

Great city centre pub with a Saturday afternoon turn up and play music thing going on.

Best pub I've ever been to. Back room packed with a table of people playing irish instruments in the middle. Everyone singing and clapping. Fantastic.

Not like it used to be. No food at the time and felt very much like fagans has changed. At least the guitar group in the bike was still in.

Did not have food. Beautiful pub atmosphere, musicians in the back room playing together but did not know each other. Lovely leisurely evening.

Lovely little Irish boozer. Guinness is superb matched with some well kept Bass on tap. Real homely atmosphere.

The live band gives the place a wonderful atmosphere without ever being overbearing. Cosy and subdued lighting in the best way. Good selection of whisk(e)ys!

Great pub for atmosphere, A little cramped but that is what makes it. Friendly service and a good selection of drinks. Pork pie is a must try.

Always feel welcomed, I come whenever I can as it’s one of the best pubs I’ve been to. All the staff are lovely and work very hard x

A top quality pub with a real old school feel, right up my street! Excellent service, good Guinness and a brilliant atmosphere on a Friday night. It's like they've transported a pub from Dublin and placed it in Sheffield, I could've happily stayed here all night

The world needs more pubs like Fagans.

Great music but found the staff to be very rude and discourteous. I was told to keep drinks in my hand at all times and not on the table!? 音樂很好同事很不好，你不可以用那個桌子

Brilliant little traditional cosy pub, with lots of character. And very accommodating and friendly staff.

Traditional pub with proper history, it has been recently taken over but the new owners have kept it as it was which is good , it has a decent drinks selection but more importantly it sells Guinness which seals the deal for me

This place does the best breakfast ever. Not well advertised at all. But yeh. Ommmffff. It’s the best I’ve found.

This pub is a time capsule! It reminds me of some of the pubs we’d frequent as a child over the water. Beers are standard offer for this type of pub. Nice outdoor area in the back. I wasn’t there for the live music which is all the pity.

A promise was made that things would not change when the previous custodians sadly retired! IT HAS! Oh the furniture is the same. But service is poor, a smile is difficult. Before you had a friendly, warm welcome, and conversation. Food has gone, the Guiness is not as good. The whole feel of the pub has changed! Please do not change this into any other Irish themed pub with Irish shirts and flags hung everywhere ect! It is not!!!! Or make this into a prodominently student pub. It is a pub for all, Sheffield heritage! Please return to how it was or you will loose the customers that made this pub popular for many years. And perhaps the pub will fail! The only good thing is it now has Credit card payments. Otherwise 1 star.

Great atmosphere, great beer and the the bar staff even booked us a taxi.

Great Irish bar, crowded so we couldn't hear the music but no worries.

Edit: Now taken over by a local crowd who have changed the vibe. Not my place anymore. No food, new Guinness lines (colder) and all the pints immediately went up to a fiver each. I’ll remember the good times but won’t be returning now. Lovely little family-run pub, Tom and Barbara make you feel welcome always. Food is great pub food, good prices and massive portions. Best pint of Guinness I’ve ever had, and always struggle to decide between that and a pint of Moonshine. My favourite pub in the land, no competition

Saved and restored by those who know Sheffield, I'm happy to see the wonder of Fagans is kept alive.

Went for Paddy's Day, second-to-none atmosphere as it was rammed inside and out but the service was still fantastic, Guinness in plastic cups (understandable for the occasion). But friendly people inside up for a good chat, a definite place to visit

Had my 40th 50th 60th retirement and all in between since the late 70s in Fagins and loved every visit, Till tonight. Looks the same ish. God bless you Tom and Barbera. £12.50 for a pint and a medium pino which was £3.60 more than the Gardeners rest 1 mile away where the staff were great. Bar staff could not have been less engaging. 45 years that’s me done. I’m at a loss.

Visited for the 1st time yesterday..Could not believe how expensive it was...been drinking real ale all my life but never paid £5,yes FIVE POUNDS for a pint of 4.5% ale.. Unbelievable.Apparently since the last landlord left a few weeks ago prices have gone through the roof. Won't be visiting again anytime soon..

Old school, cash only, a bit frayed around the edges but the finest pint of Guinness in Sheffield. If it's character, a chat and a good pint you're after, pop your head in here. UPDATE: Been in again. It hasn't changed one bit and that's a blessing. Absolute gem of a boozer.

I went to Fagan's for the first time in middle 90's when I lived in Sheffield for over 2 years. Since then, each time I come to the UK and have the opportunity to visit Sheffield, a pint of Guinness there is mandatory. Among many memories, my wife and I will never forget Tom singing Danny Boy as requested by her. Barbara and Tom enjoy your well deserved retirement. Miss you.

Proper boozer! Please do not change a thing. Shame present landlord and lady leaving, they're very friendly. Make sure this pub is passed on to good hands! Prices are good. 1950s time warp pub. But everything you love in a proper pub. Great pint of Guinness.

Nice, quiet bar. Good selection of beers. Landlord, who has been there for years, is the perfect gentleman.

It'll be a crying shame when Tom and Barbara retire, although well earned! Hope it can somehow carry on in its current guise, but sadly I'm not sure. Always good for an excellent pint of Guinness or Moonshine, and try the fish and chips.

Grabbed a pint with my pal when I visited him in Sheffield. The pub was great. Nice vibes and cheap drinks. Very cool venue, don't know muc about it but seemed have a history.

A lovely traditional pub run by a lovely couple, fantastic food (huge portions!) and ale at very reasonable prices - hope to pop down again soon

Sheffield is a tremendous city (I was over for the weekend to see my son who’s in his 4th year of his studies) for going on the ale, there’s plenty of options and you’re never far from a great little run of boozers. Fagan’s fits the bill perfectly. It’s like your own local but not in your town. Can’t recommend this place enough. The drink, the people (see photo, yes, if you know, then you really know), the music. It’s flawless.

Superb oldy worldy bar. Great guinness, massive food portions. Tom & his wife are amazing and the bar has real history in the old owner who was Joe Fagan a POW.

Old skool cash only. Great atmosphere. Very friendly place. Despite all the Guinness hype, this was one of the worst I've had as the barman didn't know how to pour it. So it was 30% head and he ended up chopping the head off with a knife and topping up - not how a Guinness should be poured!

It’s like you instantly have friends, everyone is so nice to everybody, home made food is delicious, musicians are there practicing and playing nearly every night. It’s just a wonderful atmosphere in a historic place.

I went here for a retirement party. It's a great little pub. The food was lovely and the beer is great.
