This is our new favourite fish and chip shop the chips are always soft and very tasty the fish Is always delicious we highly recommended this little shop the staff are friendly and welcoming

That was the best fish and chips! The largest piece of cod I've ever received in a chippy and all well cooked. The second time we've been here and did not disappoint, this time stopping off on a journey from Norwich to Ipswich. The first time it was the recommendation of locals on where to eat in Eye. Can't recommend highly enough

Ordered fishcake and chips,.got my bank card out to pay only to be shouted at "cash only" by a loud obnoxious female.. Do these cash only chinese owned establishments meet with all the tax requirements? seems a little suspect to me!

The cod itself was beautiful and flakey, but the batter was soft and extremely greasy, the paper it was wrapped in had a puddle of oil in the bottom. I wouldn't be surprised if Just Stop Oil glued themselves to the door at some point! The chips were distinctly average. Had I had an inkling of the quality of the batter I would have driven a few more miles to the Fair Green chippy in Diss. Mental note made for future reference.

We have been going to the Eye Fish and Chip Shop for a while now and they've always been very good quality fish and chips. The fish, which is the main part, is always succulent with a crisp light batter never greasy or heavy and the chips are very much the same. Even though most of the time it's cooked while you wait it's always of a very high standard. It's a good 20min drive to go there for us but they never disappoint. Long may they continue and we will always go there for our fish and chips.

I hadn’t eaten all day and heading back home along the A47 so decided to go through Eye and saw the chip shop. Cod and chips were excellent and the young chap serving was very friendly I’ll definitely go again Well worth the minor detour

Consistently decent Fish & Chips 🙂 Only let down by not having the convenience of taking any card payments (like all Chinese owned businesses 🙄) so make sure you have enough cash...

Always love their food, but perhaps more choices like 'Rock' would go down well.

Love this chip shop. It's not our local but we would rather drive further and go here! Curry sauce is amazing just like from the Chinese!! Cod is always really big nice thick pieces. Very consistent. Priced very well considering the other chip shops we have been too. We have been going here every fortnight since January and I wouldn't go anywhere else now.

I've stopped here a few times when passing through Eye. The staff are lovely and friendly. The food is delicious! The prices are fair. It can be a bit cramped inside which results in having to wait outside during peak hours, but that can't really be helped. Recommended if you enjoy this type of food.

Myself and my husband had large cod and chips and they were really lovely and couldn’t fault then. In fact they were so nice my husband said let’s have some more this week and we wish we hadn’t. The fish was slightly undercooked and the batter was pasty and very greasy. The chips last week were lovely fresh new potato chips, but this week admittedly we went in not long after they had opened and the chips were awful, tiny bits and strange taste which could possibly be they were reheated from the previous session or the fat in the fryers was overdue for changing. Can’t beleive the same meal was so different 2 weeks running. Also the first week we finished them but this week half went in the bin as they weren’t very nice which makes then very expensive. Hopefully if we try again they will be nice like the first week,though will leave it a while before doing so.

Ok if you want everything deep fried and covered in batter, being that I wanted a burger or sausage without, they wouldn’t do it so had to go somewhere else.

Lovely fish and chips generally freshly cooked to order . Not a big menu and only cash taken but what they do they do well. Love the fact big orders come on recycled cardboard trays from supermarkets the ones the tins on.

Lovely light batter on tasty fish

I have been here numerous times and the chips are always excellent. They are crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle with virtually no grease. Iv tried chips from all over Suffolk including Southwold and Aldeburgh, and Eyes are far superior.Only negative is they don't take card payment.

Just had chips but they really were SO good! Don't often find a chippy that manages to create such crisp and tasty chips. Highly recommended

My feelings on this location are mixed. While it has a decent store front and friendly staff, it's food isn't the best. The fish is mediocre - way too greasy and oily for my taste. The sausages are regular for an English fish and chip shop, stodgy and reconstituted meat that tastes alright. My biggest issue is the chips. When they aren't raw, they're soggy and disgustingly vinegar-ed. I have no issue with people who like this place, but it is beyond disgusting for my tastes despite the nice staff and presentable shop.

Ordered a vegetable roll and got home to find it contained pork. Very disappointed.

It's hit and miss with this shop.. Chips could do with more cooking time to crisp them and sadly yesterday the batter was very greasy, so would suggest that the oil needs to be hotter to save things bei g in the oil too long. On the whole a good shop and if not too oily, then food is lovely

Precautions in place for COVID, quick and tasty. The battered sausage was a bit stodgy but chips are especially good. It's really popular, so try to get in there early!

We've been going to Eye Fish & Chips for over a decade now and have to say that the fish we had on Sat 14th March 2020 was the BEST we've ever had there, delicious fish, lovely chips, couldn't fault it. Thanks guys.

My previous review suggested room for improvement, well they certainly nailed it on 14/03/2020 when we had fish and chips from there. It was spot on. The best we've ever had there, and we've been going there since 2008. Tips for newbies: it's cash-only and there's no restaurant.

Not for me - Nice people BUT I thought there was a strange taste to everything, sort of musty - probably due to the type of oil used to cook the food? We won't be going back.

Perfectly cooked haddock, sweet and fresh. Batter was thin, crisp on the outside, and only just cooked on the inside; as I like it.Chips were double cooked so had a crunch when you bite into them. Served piping hot, and not a bit greasy. Best fish and chips I’ve had for a long time.

Here on holiday looked at some of reviews and thought not worth trying .Went past the shop 2or 3 times it looked busy so decided to try them was glad I did as they were absolutely lovely i had fish and chips cooked to order the wife and son had scampi and chips the daughter had chicken nuggets and chips worth every penny of the £21

Has been under new ownership for about a year now. Generally the battered fish is very good, but for me the chips can be a little under-done and slightly soggy, though the flavour is right. Sometimes you have to wait a bit but it's worth it as most things are cooked in front of your eyes. If the owners want to really up their game, perhaps they could offer twice-cooked chips which can be heavenly . . . .

We used to use this fish and chip shop at least twice a month, but have been very disappointed since it changed hands,I guess the lack of a queue on a Friday and Saturday nights outside speaks volumes, I thought I'd give them another chance,Was so disappointed, old grey stale fish and hard chips, made me feel I'll, but on the plus side we are a lot healthier!

Easy fish and chips at least I didn't have to catch the fish but I did catch a good conversation about the One That Got Away but you can't go wrong Good Food
