As a motorcyclist, I like to ride quiet and interesting roads, and often reward myself with a breakfast part way through the ride. Seeing some pictures on line of what appeared to be an amazing looking breakfast at the Exford Bridge Tea Rooms, I decided to try one for myself. I had a Full Monty; it was beautifully served and delicious. The sausages were herbie, meaty, moist and tasty, the bacon was thin and tasted amazing, an interesting addition were the potatoes which included herbs and peppers that made them fruity and juicy. I could go on, about the real butter that came with the two generous slices of granary toast or how wonderfully hot everything was, including the plate ( essential in my experience), but my advice is to try it for yourself, I doubt you will be disappointed, I certainly wasn't.

There was only a choice of two places in Exford to get a drink and something to eat, Bridgeford tea room or the pub. We chose the tea room. We had a very friendly welcome from the two members of staff. The were no visible menus outside or inside when we sat down a laminated paper was give to us. A traditional breakfast £10 a pot of tea for two £6. A small criticism food needed to be hotter and on a warm plate. There isn't a huge choice of food and some of the prices seemed high ie £6 for a tea cake!

This cafe was OK, though nothing special, and indeed the cranberry teacakes were delicious. However, we felt it to be expensive - each teacake (two halves) cost £5. I think a tea, latte, and 2 teacakes totted up to over £17. There were no menus on the table, or anywhere to be seen, so when the owner asked what we'd like, we had to ask what was on offer, rather than being shown a menu with pricing! We should have asked of course, but didn't like to. I'm afraid we won't be going back.

What a little gem this place is!!! We did book a table via Messenger the week before. The communication was good and I did get very quick responses. We booked a high tea for two people. I did mention that hubby likes cheese and I eat veggie sandwiches. It was spot on. On the plates we had cheese and ale chutney, egg mayo and tuna mayo. The second round we had lots of chocolate (home made cakes) and warm scones with delicious jams and cream to go with. Tea and coffee was unlimited and included in the price. Overall we are happy with the service, quality, price and cleanliness. Parking is available right opposite the team room, and they have outdoor space as well.

We received a very warm greeting from the proprietor who took our orders in a friendly, helpful manner. The food was served quickly (only one other table occupied at the time) and the food was superb. I had a wholegrain sandwich with tuna and mayo which is served with a nice salad with homemade dressing and crisps. Also had two cups of the freshly made Americano coffee which was lovely. I felt it was excellent value and would hope to visit again when I am next on Exmoor.

Lovely little place to stop for breakfast or lunch. We just stopped for tea and a cake and it was perfect! Really enjoyed our visit here - delicious food and our two young children were well catered for. My husband and I had the nachos main which was delicious and surpassed a regular nachos meal. Our little boy had a jacket potato which he demolished! The owner was working on his own and was very busy (apologising for the delay), but still was able to provide a polite, professional and friendly service. Great tasting food and great value. Would definitely recommend.

This place is SO much more than a tea room. It’s clearly run by someone with a real passion for food. The cooked breakfast is one of the best I have ever had, the hash potatoes just wonderful! We live 45 minutes away but will be returning soon for more! It’s situated right next to a lovely park so the kids could run around. Looking forward to trying the waffles and pancakes next time. Very friendly service and all in all just totally surprised by the offering of what seemed like a normal tea room - this place was something else! Thank you :)

An idyllic village tea room with the best breakfast/lunchtime food!. The scones and cream tea are good as you would expect but my scrambled egg on toast with mushrooms was simply the best and even my sons pizza (in a tea room?) was homemade looking and tasted great. Not the cheapest, but you really get what you pay for!

This is a lovely tea room in the heart of Exmoor. Stopped for a cream tea here and it was lush. A choice of sweet or savoury scones and at least 3 jam flavours including local Exmoor Wortleberry. Scones were lovely and light and the cream and then jam fabulous. The owners were so welcoming even though they were close to closing time and nothing was too much trouble. The downpour outside made it mote atmospheric somehow.

We decided to visit Lynton and Lynmouth on our way back home, after a camping holiday in Devon. We were going to have lunch, and a trip on the funicular railway. Unfortunately we couldn't park anywhere, so we found ourselves on a random road out of Lynton which took us through part of Exmoor to a little village called Exford - and are we glad it did!We discovered The Exford Bridge Team Rooms, where we stopped for a light lunch, and the best customer service I've experienced in a long time.My brie and tomato toastie, served with an appetising salad - which included kiwi fruit, apples, orange and strawberry - plus crisps, was delicious. My 12 year old twin granddaughters, were especially well catered for, with changes made to the menu to accommodate them, and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her cheese and ham toastie, (again with salad and crisps). Three of us had warm brownies with clotted cream to follow, and one slice of carrot cake - again all mouth-wateringly delicious! Although busy, the waitress stopped to explain what Whortleberries are, and all about the Exmoor's Dark Skies initiative, and the proprietor went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our meal - nothing was too much trouble. If you also manage to get lost in Exmoor, or, better still, find Exford on the map, I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Lunchtime approached, it was raining, the woman in the tea Room welcomed us all, let us move around the tables, patiently took the kids' orders. Just lovely.A few things took a while and a couple of things got missed, but overall what a fantastic experience. Service was always with a cheery smile, a chat, humour and warmth. Booked here for breakfast with my brother, after staying near Ilfracombe for a week. Thought it would be a good idea to have breakfast out, now that we all have to vacate self catering accommodation so early there isn’t time for a good breakfast before long journey home. Breakfast highly recommended. Well presented, hot, fresh and tasty. Came with sautéed potatoes which were a change from hash browns and really nice. We had English breakfast but menu has good selection of other options for breakfast too. Also particularly impressed with little waxed paper pots for accompanying brown and tomato sauces, rather than single use plastic sachets. Well done for doing your bit, Greta Thunberg would be pleased. Also, nice atmosphere and friendly owner. Looked like a lovely village too, definitely worth a repeat visit, hopefully with less rain next time.

I’d only previously managed to make breakfast at Exford Bridge Tea Rooms. I can now confirm that the lunch menu is just as tempting! A warm welcome awaited us from Bruce and we were seated in a sheltered court yard garden which protected us from the cool breeze whilst outdoor dining remains the only option. Having eventually made our choices from the range which includes substantial meals like nachos through to sandwiches & cream teas. For those who like a lie-in the breakfast menu is on offer all day! We live relatively locally and have visited twice in 2 weeks. On each occasion we have been greeted warmly and the service has been excellent. As for the previous review regarding the lady owner, this is totally not the service we received from her. And based on the reply I can see why 'her buttons may have been pressed' and all my praise to her for putting up with, what sounds like a vile customer. Now back to our review; on our latest visit we had lunch, the homemade quiche was amazing, my BLT with added Brie was devine. Entirely different experience. Shouted at by the wife for being five mins late. Extremely rude service. Asked where the food was after waiting for an hour to be told that it was our fault as they don’t take large bookings. Literally told off like naughty school children. Would avoid like the plague. This is a little gem of a tea shop in the heart of the village. Despite a slightly awkward start we discovered the two owners to be absolutely delightful! We arrived at 15:45 which rather unusually we discovered, was approaching closing time but the gentleman was only too pleased to allow us in under the assumption we were in for simple cream teas. Our appetite demanded something slightly more filling and eventually after a little deliberation and a little concern from the owner, he agreed to our order despite his desire to be heading home.A few moments later we soon realised his concerns when 2 enormous plates of freshly made sandwiches arrived with our teas and coffees. This was only the start of what would become a delectable feast! Sandwiches were duly followed by a huge selection of scones with fine jams and moments later audacious proportions of homemade cakes followed to complete the meal.Overall we cannot thank the owners enough more making extra time in their busy bank holiday and look forward to being served by them next time we visit. next time we will make sure we book in in good time!

Stopped in this idyllic village for a bite to eat. Parked across the road. Entered the tea room and found a seat, was then subjected to an onslaught from the owner as my wife mentioned sharing a sandwich. The lady said she was running a business and sharing was unacceptable. She told us she was having a bad day and she felt close to a nervous breakdown, which made us uncomfortable. She took our orders and my wife asked to share, the waitress told us she would charge £1 for a plate to share. We agreed then she went off coming back a minute later asking us to leave her tea room. If this is the way she treats customers then stay away and go to watersmeet. Totally unacceptable behaviour towards customers.

The ambience here encouraged us to linger longer than necessary and this place will go on our growing list of 'places not to be missed when in the area'.

We'd done a long walk, missed lunch and were ravenous. We opted for the afternoon tea which had plentiful freshly made sandwiches, followed by delicious home made scones (obviously freshly made that day) and two slices of home made cake each. Definitely hit the spot and the friendly service, despite the fact that they were missing the chef on that day, made it a very pleasant visit

We had tea today in this excellent tea room. Everyone was so very friendly & the afternoon tea second to none. There was no way we could eat it all so they happily packed the remainder up for us to bring away.

We had an excellent cup of coffee with a scone and cream. The scone was first rate and delicious. Good and cheerful service. We are delighted to find this tea room and will be most definitely returning next year.

I don't like providing mediocre or poor reviews, but sadly our experience was mediocre at best.

The perfect way to spend a day with friends; a 6 mile circular around Exford and a visit to the Exford Bridge Tea Rooms where there is nothing like one of their truly indulgent cream teas. Fresh scones with home made jam and a pot of Earl Grey - perfect.

We used to regularly stop here for coffee a few years ago. Unfortunately for various reasons it closed for a year or so. The new owners have really made a go of it and it's probably better than it ever has been in our 30 years of using it whilst walking on Exmoor. I hope it continues and opens during the winter months as we walk Exmoor a lot and it's nice to start with a coffee.

On a recent stay in Exford, I went in every day - the owners and staff were polite, friendly and chatty and the coffee was great.

We stopped in for a cup of tea and ended up having a truly delightful cream tea. The cream teas where simply too tempting, with fresh baked home made scones, home and locally made jams, and fresh clotted cream who could resit? The young couple who run the tea rooms really have escaped to the country and obviously enjoy their new careers, friendly and welcoming with time to chat made for a perfect afternoon break and cream tea. We will certainly be back the next time we are in the area, well worth the visit.

We can’t get enough of their takeaway pizza. Teas, coffee and cakes are also great. Definitely stop by!

This tea room has now re-opened under new management and they are doing a superb job and filling a niche within the village. I joined them for a super breakfast with excellent coffee which was just the thing after an early morning expedition onto the moor.

Stopped for a break late morning, lovely tea cake with delicious jam. Tea room is incredibly pretty with loos, car park, garden in a great location in the heart of Exmoor. 5 stars!

Dropped in for a morning coffee, order was taken quickly, but waited 15 minutes for coffee & they weren't too busy. Part of the learning curve for new owners I guess, but they need to learn quickly !

We stopped here for lunch and had a great time. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the afternoon teas were immense. Some of the best scones I have ever had (except yours Mum!). There were ten of us ranging from 2 to 60 years old and we all had a great time. We will be back next time we are on Exmoor.

On a recent trip to exmoor the satnav took us through a village called Exford. Delightful looking place so we stopped for a refresher. As we had 6kids with us we repaired to the tea rooms by the green rather than one of the two pubs we saw. What a delight. Great friendly and efficient service both at the counter and by the waitress. Food was very well presented and on lovely fresh bread.

Friendly staff, nice environment, lovely coffee and ice cream. My husband ordered his favourite carrot cake- and was massively disappointed- he should have taken it back. It was basically a bit of dried cake which didn't at all represent carrot cake.

I reviewed the White Horse on the 18 April 24 when it re-opened after a period of failure. It was wonderful then just to have the pub open for drinks but now Lisa and Tim have a limited menu serving meals from Thursdays to Saturdays evenings and Sunday lunches. Some friends dropped into stay the other night and treated us to a Sunday lunch at the pub, the first since re-opening, which was not just good but exceptional. The beef was first rate with five vegetables beautifully cooked. The place was booked out and all by locals enjoying great hospitality filling the room with animated conversation. We shall be going again as soon as we can! On Mondays our 1759 Guinness Club is now able to regain our home in Stogumber’s White Horse. Last night we met to enjoy Irelands greatest stout and gained a fair few members. Word is spreading!
