Been using Essex Grill for a few years now and have sampled many of the dishes, all great quality. The Essex full house offers a bit of everything on a bed of perfectly cooked large grain rice. For burger enthusiasts who are hungry, try the mega burger which is tasty and huge. Definitely recommended

Went in Monday night with my wife and daughter and we all had the chicken kebab, absolutely lovely, lots of chicken, lots of salad and not just a bit of lettuce, but a proper salad. very tasty.

Been using this place for a while, especially when I finish a late shift as it used to be one of the only decent places to get some food late at night. However recently the quality of the food has been really bad, cold kebab meat and they often get the order wrong. Last night I ordered a mixed lamb and chicken kebab but when I got home realised they had only given me lamb! I don't know if there has been a change in management or the they have just let their standards drop, but I strongly suggest you rectify whatever is going on. Unfortunately I've had too many bad experiences here so you have lost me as a customer.

Kebab was very greasy.. I asked for salad on my burger & all I got was a measly bit of lettuce. Not 1 tomato slice in sight or a bit of onion ...

Collected from the shop this time but usually order via takeaway. Food is always good with a wide range of choice. Staff are always helpful and efficent.

You would think if you asked for a bit of meat and rice, then you would get some meat and rice, right? Well, twice I've done that, and they have failed to give me a single bloody grain! I get in there, specifically ask for rice (and I'm very specific because of last time), and pay for my takeaway. I trust the process. I get home, no bloody rice again. I'm not too happy, second time this has happened. Again, I find myself thinking, what the ruddy hell am I going to do with essentially a big pile of meat and nothing to go with it. Meat is boring and a little bit disgusting without something else involved.  You would think a kebab house employee would understand that, right? Call up, absolute faff! It seems like purposefully no one wants to understand that they messed up. Communication is very, and I mean very, poor. Eventually, they say they will send me some rice. The delivery driver (1 minute drive, 20 minute wait, just to clarify) gets to the door and asks for £4.90. The cheek of it! I thought they were sending the rice I bought and asked for, I wasn't making a new order for it. Let's think about this.. rice for £4.90! Are you mad, chaps? So, at the end of all this, here I am looking at a pile of average at best quality, cold meat on my table and again, I'm thinking, why the hell did I go back there and order from them again? It wasn't good last time, why did I give them a second chance? Still no rice. My suggestion is, if you do want to eat here, repeat your order in person often and potentially slowly as if speaking to a child or a family member that is coming out of anaesthesia. Do not presume that what you said a minute ago is still valid. Ask them to repeat your order clearly. Simply saying "Hello, do your dishes come with rice, I would like a dish that comes with rice." will unfortunately and unexpectedly not guarantee that you are actually ordering or will receive any of the aforementioned rice.

I have been using this restaurant for 4/5 years and over the last few month the standard has dropped to the point where the food is inedible. The kebab I order was so overcooked and rock hard, as you can see in the image and really greasy as I assume it’s been sitting in a pot for ages. I did try to raise this issue via there app but they didn’t really care.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating and food was delicious and plentiful

I ordered chicken doner without sauce.... I received a burnt chicken meat in the last hal and it's also spicy....I don't recommend it!

I have used the Essex Grill for years, since they opened, takeaway always fab but recently the portion size has dramatically decreased whilst the prices have gone up a lot (I understand cost of living etc) had two takeaways recently and both have been disappointing, not sure if its because we are using just-eat to order but this time £14 for a large donner wrap and it was very small, med lamb shish with veg again £14 very small and a regular donner £9,80 very small, so I think the time has come to find another shop, sadly as food is nice just not value for money any more.

The kebabs here are probably the best in the area, the staff are very friendly even with the language barrier. My new regular kebab house.

(Edit: I have not been here in a while, the shop from what I hear has changed it's practices) Nice customer service, very fast, but the salad has no flavour, the chicken was so greasy I thought you wanted me to deep fry it when I got home I suggest adding a vinegar to the salad, I'm not sure how you cook this chicken, but its small, broken up and greasy (It tastes nice though but feels gross). Also the pita bread was hard and had no flavour, this would also be helped by putting vinegar as it can be soaked up better then grease I think you have also put some false reviews up on this page to make it look like you are 5 star, when some coments are repeats and users seem to have photos from angles only staff/owners could have

After having food from here before, we ordered via the website. While we acknowledged it was a Saturday night, after 2 hours we were still waiting for food. After attempting to ring for another 10 minutes we finally got through only to be told that the food had not even be cooked, but that it would be less than 30 mins. Another 45 minutes later with no update or delivery, I got through again to be told that it would be another 15 minutes. Staff made no real attempt to apologise, only giving excuses of lack of staff and too many orders. I would recommend not accepting orders if you cannot fulfil them. Still waiting for food ...

Lovely lamb shish grilled veg and good donner kebabs, lamb is tender and rice is delicious good pots of salad, I love chilli sauce but be warned it is hot it should come with a fireman to put out the heat!

Can’t trust them with timings for delivery. Several times they have failed us, coming to us about 1 hour late. And what is more annoying is that they push back the promised timing several timing in each order, perhaps by each 15 min each time -but ends up in about 1 hour or 1.5 hour delayed. This is specially an issue when you have kids and rely in a specific time for dinner, or today as we missed eating outside to enjoy the beautiful sunset given the failed promise Essex grill gave us with the timing for delivey. All said, we had enough of this and have decided not to order again from this store.

Good standard of food especially considering you are unlikely to be sober at midnight on a Friday. Even still, food tastes great sober! A lot of choices including sweet options (such as doughnuts and a few pastries), kebabs, burgers and chicken nuggets at a reasonable price.

Waited over an hour for food which was cold. I hv an allergy to onions and requested no onions. All orders were covered with them. When phoning spoke to man who was incredibly rude eventually said he wld send new order. Hv bn waiting 2 hrs now no food. Will never use again.

Consistently high standard of takeaway food that is full of flavour. Their kebab is Not dripping with fat, their chicken shish is flavoursome and their prices are competitive. Yes, their delivery times can be long but this is due to them being a highly rated local takeaway, so are busy. Recently achieved a 5* hygiene rating for Havering too.

rude service on the phone when taking my order, completely ignored when i arrived to collect, no thank you for your custom when paying and yes you guessed it when i arrived home part of my order was missing......phoned them back up and was told to come back or get a free bottle of drink next time i ordered. There wont be another time.

I live in Hornchurch but always order from Essex Grill in Upmister. They are by far the best kebab shop in the area. The food is always good quality, the portions are decent and the delivery driver is always very friendly & happy. They are also open later than other shops in the area, which is handy when my partner is working late or when we've been out for a few drinks. We highly recommend them!

We often use Essex Grill for takeaway when the family come (10 of us). Apart from a brief lapse earlier this year the food is just great to put in the middle of the table and help yourself.

A very good way of the kebabs cook on real charcoal grill and served with rice salad and sauce sepret. Very tasty kebabs worth every single peny. Try will not be disapointed. Best kebabs.

Ordered a very nice kebab on a walk in but realised I'd left my very expensive e-cigarette at the shop. Called them and they had kept it for me so popped back and picked it up. Very nice staff and really good mixed kebab.

Decent and they prepare very good food

On my last order spent over £26 and delivery came over half an hour late. 5 portions of chips arrived stale and not edible. All burgers requested without cheese due to allergies arrived with cheese. Unfortunately all food wasted and thrown in the bin.. phoned just eat and tried to resolve the issue... they spoke to the restaurant. The restaurant requested i call them to resolve the issue as they were deeply sorry. Telephoned the restaurant and the man i spoke to was very helpful and apologetic.. explaining that there has been huge mess ups with deliveries due to how busy they were... but was only able to credit my account with £20 and not the full amount as his manager was not around. He also informed if there were any issues with this, he would call me back that night, otherwise to trust my address has been credited with £20. He requested that the next time i order, not to go through just eat and to call the restaurant as a note is on the system with the credit. I accepted his honesty and apology. I have phoned the restaurant today to make an order with the £20 credit as promised. I spoke to another man who stated there is no manager and that they are two brothers that run the shop. I explained the situation, he didnt request my details or address and accused me of wanting free food and was nothing but rude and insulting. He told me never to contact the restaurant again. Absolutely disgusting.. a restaurant clearly run by dishonest ***** with no respect for customers. The amount of times i have ordered from them on just eat and also turned up to the shop to pick up food. After sticking up with them for their zero food hygiene on all social media posts and the local community comments who are disgusted by the restaurant.. Not only do they have zero food hygiene but also about their disgusting service, dishonesty, accusations, insults and theft of money owed.

Avoid this place. Terrible service, terrible food and very very rude staff. Likely to give you an upset stomach.
