This place is just dirty. The toilets especially are dreadful, even though the rota said they’d been checked earlier that day. The whole place needs a really good clean.

I came to your cafe for quick coffee, Before work. To meet with whole place fill students, They limit place to seat. After talking very rude supervisor. You should limit the time student stay they. Really did seem give dame. All she said was that busy period. (After 3pm) Iam local to the area, You spoil it for local people in the area. Because place full of students, I ended shared my table with guy, That no where to seat. You let your self down as company. You lost point about caring for customers. Only if they students locals, Do not seem give matter any more. I will be going else where in future for my coffee. Very unhappy customer.

Quiet coffee shop to enjoy your morning coffee with breakfast.

Great food, Great service. Came early in the morning and got a hot chocolate and crossaint. Prices are fair, you get what you pay for and the food is quality.

Lovely coffee shop that does brunch til 3pm plus bagels, pancake stacks and jackets. Lovely staff, nice ambience and didn’t have to wait long at all. One thing missing off my plate but they were quite to bring it plus very generous when they did. Very clean, not too noisy, nice choice of music. Halal food so beef sausages and turkey bacon - both were really delicious. Will definitely come back 👍

Came here for breakast whoch totalled £30 for 2 lattes and 2 plates of food which was the eggs royal and full english. The pixtures online seemed good however once we received our food it was beyond poor. Although the athetics of the food were plated well the taste was not. The eggs royal were over poached, and the sauce was extremly odd almost resembling vingear, which left a bad taste in the mouth. The full english was presented well but again overcooked, the sausages were dry, bacon was hard enough to smash the window with and the tatertots were so overcooked that they wiufnt pierce with the fork. However the staff were good and attentive, and the prices were okay for the items we ordered. We did not want to complain but maybe coming here for coffee is the best option instead.

We went there with my friend around 5 pm, it was quiet and really chilled. Our friend joined us with his doggy 🐕 as they are dog friendly. We enjoyed our time, and their coffee was nice, too.

Good coffee and good staff, used to go Bread and Honey on King Street but they don't have toilets and always told me to come here to use their toilets. So thought might as well give Esquire my business

Took a break from the touristy things to sit down and have a late afternoon coffee. Definitely a place where you could hang out and kill a few hours - we got there just before closing so we didn’t get to hang around for too long.

Food was lovely, Mexican beef sausages & turkey bacon was beautiful! Only downside was our poached eggs were solid.

So I went here to eat and have brunch for my wife’s bday with my kids. I walked in was not greeted by anyone just starred at awkwardly by the waiters. We sat down no-one presented us with a menu even though the workers made eye contact several times so I had to go and find menus, then when I went up to order I was told no brunch food will be served even though it was 2.30pm and brunch doesn’t stopped being served till 3pm as started in the store. However the customer service was appalling and I will deffo not be returning here and I will also let people know how terrible the service is here. I have been really offended by the lack of customer service for such a nice place. Goodbye forever you won’t be having my money or any of my family or friends.

The hot sandwiches are relatively good but the coffee is not great, it tastes sour and a bit burnt.

I used to love this place until last months when the service has changed, but today it was enough of enough. The young blond till lady (today at 1:42pm) who serviced us was so RUDE to not only me, but to all customers. When me and my boyfriend asked her for decaf coffee, she judged our choice by rolling her eyes and then asked us very quiet whether we want to drink in or take out, so we asked her to repeat, and then she rolled her eyes AGAIN and LITERALLY repeated the question more quietly (this happened twice). That was the worst customer experience I’ve ever got from a cafe worker. Even two other customers resigned from their order with this lady because of her rude behaviour. PS the brown-hair lady (she probably works there around 3 years) is always kind to us.

Bread and honey is way better and better service

As someone who came from Turkey, I was really surprised when I saw people playing backgammon here! 😂 Usually people come here to have drinks and desserts and work, play games or read a book

Disappointing first visit. Miserable service and below average breakfast. A real shame as the usual twists on the menu could be lovely.

Beautiful place on the corner just outside the main shopping centre in Leicester amazing customer service clean and welcoming atmosphere my barista Megan was amazing and so professional in a friendly manner, my latte was delicious and I will definitely be coming here again thank you for a wonderful experience

Nice place to get get coffee or something to eat. Inside there's a fair amount of seating. The drinks were fine, not that hot or that great of a taste though.

Avoid. Badly made coffee, 50p charge for non dairy, can't care less staff, harsh lighting, muzak.

don't think will be back here. the previous staff were so lovely and respectful now the new staff don't have any manners. especially the till girl who takes the order (has nose piercing). I asked her to give some tissues but even though she had tissues right next to her she told to get it from the table that has extras and gave me an annoyed look. Literally no professionalism.

Not my kind of place. Very pricey for what it is. Bought a tuna sandwich, asked for it to be heated. Wasn't heated up and it had like 50 grams of tuna in it. Hardly a tuna sandwich.

Been here a few times now...food and coffee always good. Marked the service down to 4stars as it's often a little slow...last time I went in it was at a peak time so very busy and only one person making the coffees which lead to quite a long wait in the queue.

The food is always great and atmosphere always lovely.. the staff are normally really nice, friendly and engaging but not this time.. I found the staff to be not as welcoming as normally are.. No smiles.. at all.. I had to remind staff twice to send over tap water.. then when I was given it there was only one glass when I was sat with a friend.. Other places bring over a pitcher of water and empty glasses.. it just looks nicer.. maybe staff can adopt this.. Maybe menu pricing can be clearer too.. prices are a little misleading Other than that it was a very nice experience

Staffs are ver friendly and i love the atmosphere.

I love esquires. Even though a lot of their cakes and bake are gluten free or vegan. I still love some of the items. It hadn't changed

Lovely coffee shop slightly off the main street but easy to find lots of seating great coffee!

I stopped at the café for a hot drink. The shop is central and close to new walk and main shops. I tried their hot chocolate and spent a bit of time in the lounge downstairs. The café features indoor and outdoor areas, and is ideal to have coffee with friends and relax. Decor is minimalist yet cosy and offering a warming environment. Hot drinks are well-presented and tasty. Staff is courteous, kind and looks after you. A good spot to have a break in the city centre. I recommend it!

Please check the prices before purchase, prices advertised are not the same. When questioned the cashier she said that the tills had been changed. I mentioned that those prices should not be advertised. I still got charged the full amount.

Expensive & slow service but the food was good.

Looks great from the outside but not a good coffee place. My cappuccino was literally burning. If you’re a coffee person, go elsewhere.

Nice cosy place just at the begining of newalk which is a historic walk way must visit destination in Leicester. I enjoyed the coffee it was really tasty. And the blueberry lemon cheese cake was also really mouthwatering. I highly recommend this place as it is central and quite trendy

Very disappointing visit. We visited on a Sunday, most fresh drinks were unavailable with the exception of orange juice. Waited 50 minutes for a full English breakfast, it was not busy as we were the only people upstairs and the downstairs wasn't full either. The staff could not be more displeased to be there, everything seemed like an effort to them, no smiles or pleasantries. Shame as the place looked like it could have great potential. Would not return.

Just walked in on the way to the museum but such lovely and friendly staff, made the whole experience 5 star.

Entered the coffee shop and was with my sisters. Was discussing with my family what we should order and if we should order food so on. Worker at the counter said in a very rude and abrupt manner “We’re closing in 45 mins” and was very hostile towards us. Extremely rude however it was not our loss and she lost out on customers. Very rude worker and not impressed with the people at all. Disgusted with the service and rude worker

Felt really hostile and moody in this coffee place. The servers did not even smile or say a good word. However they were experienced and the portions were good

I have such a lovely impression about the place its atmosphere and lovely design. Till a moment when a young dark-long haired woman ruined all that wonderful morning for me and my son. We placed an order and the woman (she was neutral)by the till gave us a small wooded board with cutlery and napkins on top of it and asked to have a seat while our order being prepared. And while we were waiting a young woman from the staff came to our table and she was very rude, and I actually meant it that way- RUDE. She asked where our table number was and why it was not clearly showing our number.. we didn't even realize in the beginning which number she was talking about. And she added by the way your ordered tea is next to the counter and if we wanted it we need stand up and go to collect it from there,as nobody going to bring it to us, she turned around and went off. We both were speechless for nearly a minute... Then we checked and found under napkins the wooden board that really got the number she was talking about and I went to collect my tea.. So the place itself was good, other staff were from good to neutral which is absolutely fine. But that young woman did not just have a bad mood herself. But she actually made an unpleasant morning for myself and my son. Would I personally go to that place again - No. Would I recommend visiting this place - No. Even if I like it and the food was nice. But while such workers represent business this would be a No Go for me and for people around me.

Beautiful and chic café, great for tele working. They have food and drinks to cater all day, basically every meal, since they’re close at 19:00. I love their red velvet cake, so rich, moist, gooey and satisfying. A pure dose of pleasure

some of the best coffee ive had to be honest, i had with a shot of vanilla and it was perfect. first time trying eggs benedict and it was quite nice not sure if id get again tho but ill definitely be back for the coffee

Cozy and sweet. The staff are absolute sweethearts. The inside is slightly noisy for my taste, but I would recommend the place nonetheless.

I bought the carrot, lemon, ginger, apple drink for £4.80. It was really nice and I definitely felt healthy after drinking it! (helps open your bowels 😉) I wish the price was a bit lower though.

First time here. We walked in down New Walk, saw this modern coffee shop and popped over for a break, before going into town. It has a good atmosphere inside, plenty of good seating and lots of glass, so you feel part of the City. Plenty of bustle and a mixed customer from students working on laptops to seniors having a coffee & a chat. There's a floor up the stairs too, so plenty of room and for better weather, outdoor tables & chairs. We liked this coffee shop! We'll come again. Service from the counter was quick...Thanks guys!

Lovely fresh orange juice and good service but everything else is below standard. Food isn’t cooked properly or too dry and lacks flavour. Also very pricy for what it is.

I’ve been here twice now and it feels like the staff just hate being there and like they are doing me a huge favour when they are serving me. I love how it feels upstairs which is the only reason i returned. The food is ok -ish but there are so many places that do better food without the added awkwardness.

Ordered a burger, after asking them how long it would take (5-10 mins). The kitchen cooked it in that time. One of the servers literally left it cooling on the side (in view of customers) for 10 minutes. Even after I asked if it was ready yet. Paying £7 for a low quality cold burger is not fun. Particularly when you are then not given enough time to go elsewhere for lunch.

There are plenty of better coffee places in Leicester. My experience was less than impressive. I ordered three items and received two. I worked out that I'd only paid for two. The server didn't seem to be paying attention. The coffees are shouted out when they're ready which I find quite annoying but even more so when the server can't pronounce the word latte correctly. It's not lah-tay. Presumably they think it sounds posh.

Good place to work, with WIFI, multiple sockets, all in a quiet environment. The food is good, the coffee is alright. The staff is... not talkative? Which could be alright but gets confusing as to guess whose drink is whose.

Lovely place. We visited for breakfast and went for the full English along with a kale and lemongrass smoothie. The food and the service were great. They also have plenty of wall sockets around and many were getting some work done. Seems cozy for that.

A small cafe, beautiful interior. They always make delicious coffee for every taste. You can have a hearty snack.

Imagine going to Leicester Museum on a Saturday afternoon and being told at the door that we couldn't go in due to an 'emergency ' Esquires a short walk away saved the day. We were cold and miserable but a latte in cosy surroundings saved the day.

Avoid at all cost..... I decided to visit Esquire cafe as in need of coffee a piece of cake and a sit down. I have visited other Esquire cafes and hadn't had any issues. I was sadly disappointed at this very unpleasant experience. On entering I was met by an older female staff member at the counter who was clearly not happy.....So miserable, I wondered if she was doing her community service sentence ....Zero customer friendly not a smile or nice word, After ordering a small coffee and slice of cake I was giving the hefty price of £6:60... This was abit OTT but i thought maybe it will be worth it.. no it wasn't, the cake was more of a slither of cake seriously dry definitely not fresh, the coffee served by three young immature excitable women who were more interested in gossiping about customers previously served gave me a luke warm weak coffee slop the worse I've ever had in any cafe ever!! The toilet was unclean and had a sticky substance all over floor. I would not recommend this Esquire cafe it was the pits. I thought of making a complaint but knew that this would either fall on deaf ears or I'd be offered a replacement of more revolting old cake and another nasty coffee....I decided gotta get out fast.....

Gorgeous food and drink in a great central location, with some reasonable customer service from the staff.

I brought caipichino regular, who making coffee that guy didn't know who order and wich customer,give my caipichino to wrong customer after find out wrong customer, he give me same coffee cup ,put in to take away cup ,disappointed ,tast was hopeful £3.90 charge for this bad quality caipichino, tast was same like macdonald caipichino macdonald caipichino£1.69 half price of this coffee, never recommended, never go again. 0 star

I went in to try a different coffee shop because I enjoy experimenting with flavours. I bought a Cortado but I received latte with very thick milk. The coffee tasted like dirt which is a sign that the portafilter is not cleaned. The people running the coffee shop look like they don't get along because it looked like only one person did everything. The young couple that just stood over the counter did nothing to comfort me. I would probably not come here again for coffee until they clean the filter. If they clean the filter the coffee would taste nice. They need to hire an experienced barista to run the place.

Excellent coffee and breakfast sandwiches, came across this cafe by chance but will be visiting again.

Coffee house. Coffee was okay, double espresso ordered. Not strong enough. A choice of americano or espresso nut no lungo! Prices in keeping with inflation hit Britain. Did not order food, prices around £5.00 for a sandwich. The decor is lovely, concrete with the warmth of wood. High ceilings and reasonable well kept. Staff were friendly.

Basic coffe shop. Can't fault anything but nothing stood out. I was with my assistant dog and had no problrms with her.

A great place for local students. Lots of electric sockets for laptops and charging phones . We are a bit older (uni was a long time ago) we did enjoy coffee and cake.
