Poisonously bitter coffee. Like terrible espresso. Getting a good coffee machine doesn’t make any bad coffee you put in it good. I would recommend getting a better variety in coffee and also a less emotionally dead barista

Ok, sample of one by caffeine deprived parent. Passes my macchiato test. Very friendly, relaxed and engaged with the locals (a regular was waiting for his coffee). Probably the best coffee I've had recently. Will return to check! Lovely.

Very light and creamy. Barista is a kind person who can lead you through a short journey of coffe taste. Advise: try it pute, without any milk, you won't regret.

I thought they might have a warm brunch/breakfast croissant (with omelette and bacon inside), but the croissant was room temperature (they didn't have anything to heat it up) and the egg in it was more an egg mayo.

This was the original location before Espresso Rooms popped up everywhere. :) It's still very good, it's still very tiny. Once upon a time this was the only reliably excellent espresso in Bloomsbury. So glad they're still reliably excellent. :)

Might just be the smallest coffee house in London, but serves the most exquisite coffee. Sit outside and watch the world go by, or take it to go and wander up Lambs Conduit Street and lose yourself in all the fabulous shops.

Espresso Room was frustrating. 4 pound lattes with no working wifi and no customer bathrooms. The coffee was good (I didn't try the food because they lack good vegan options) but it just didn't make up for the lack of working services. Rest assured I won’t ever be coming back here.

My personal favourite coffee house currently. Great flavour coffee served up. The little food counter is delightful, cake and cookie heaven.

Great little espresso joint across the street from GOSH. The “winter cookies” are very nice and the service is always friendly. We come to GOSH more than we’d like to, but this place is an oasis on long days here.

Right opposite Great Ormond Street Hospital and ideal for a caffeine fix for parents and medics of whom plenty were present in this tiny cafe. Excellent coffee, made with care. Bit more than the chains but worth it. Friendly service. Note that this is a cashless cafe, card only!

Came into the Espresso Room late one morning after a walking search for great espresso in the neighborhoods to the north of St. Paul's. Walking in was a breath of fresh air. Friendly espresso experts behind the bar crafting double ristretti of perfection. Looking forward to being back in London for another visit.

It’s only when I travel that I realize how incredibly lucky I am to live in a place that is so abundant with high quality coffee places like this one. Tiny and unassuming but with high quality espresso. In a room. Does what it says on the tin.

Competent coffee let down by a staff member who dropped my coffee on the end of my very long table rather than actually deliver it to me, with predictable results. Other staff knew and apologised but didn't actually rectify the now half empty flat white 🤷🏼‍♂️

Vor einem beruflichen Termin im GOSH-Krankenhaus direkt gegenüber noch schnell hier reingeschlüpft, um einen vernünftigen Kaffee zu holen. Das war eine gute Idee, der Kaffee war richtig lecker, das Team sehr nett und die angebotenen Kuchenstücke und Sandwiches sahen auch gut aus. Bin in der Mittagspause gleich noch mal hin, um mir Nachschub zu holen. Sehr zu empfehlen.

I love independent coffee places, and this place did not disappoint. The tea I ordered was given a correct amount of time to brew and the white coffee wasn't drowned in milk like is often my experience. It's cosy inside, so more a grab and go type of place. There is quirky bench seating outside when the weather permits.

This place certainly was amazing when it opened on the footsteps of GOSH (09?). Fab coffee with baristas complaining about nearby chain coffee stores & geekish about roasting etc .! Was a bit bemused when I went in, asked for what size flat white I wanted and nearly got charged for a copy of caffeine! Certainly the best of the rest within 5-10min walk. Went recently - coffee still great ....milk was a little too hot for my liking but lovely & smoothy full body coffee when it cooled. Cakes et al r lovely. Go if u r around the area!

Best coffee I’ve had in London! Went there for a brunch with group of friends on Saturday, food was unbelievably good quality & priced really reasonably!

Multiple visits to this little coffee shop have confirmed my initial impressions. Attention to detail, friendly & competent staff but most importantly, consistently high level coffee. I've not tried the pastries and snacks but it all looks delicious and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

The smell of burnt coffee made me decide instantly to not have coffee. Ordered a chai latte instead which turned out to be terrible. For 4£ I've had one of the worst "coffee" breaks ever.

Best coffee and cake in the area

Espresso Room is quite a fitting name, the place is tiny and one has a couple of sitting options, so it's more of a take away place, but in summer there are a couple of additional loungers outside, but don't let this put you off. The time I went there the owner who's a super friendly and vastly knowledgable person (about all things coffee) made me the most amazing cup of single estate espresso that is still in my mind to this day. I even bought a bag of this variety of beans to try to replicate at home and the price tag was well justified. For sure it instantly made it's way into my all time favourite espresso bars. If you are looking for a espresso experience, this should certainly be on your list of places to try!

disappointed, my mocha had no taste of chocolate at all, just milk and coffeee, and the colour of it too. quite depressing.

Most revolting bitter coffee I have ever had. I'm Italian and expert coffee drinker so I know good coffee from bad, this is bad!

Lovely tiny espresso bar with friendly staff. Opens early on weekdays.

Espresso room gives the Holborn another taste of Shoreditch. Its gentle nod toward exposed copper pipes, Edison bulbs and blackboards it should make sure both the city suits and open-edge waffle-knit cardigans feel welcome. The coffee is faultess and reasonably priced for an independent cafe but the true reason to keep coming back here rather than other locals is the caramel shortbread (or Millionaires shortbread if you need the financial ego boost). A not-too-thick base layer of flaky crumbs and a rich chocolate icing which leans more heavily to the former ingredient sandwich the main event. But the filling is unsurpassed - smooth and unctuous caramel is soft enough to melt on your tongue and firm enough to hold its shape is gently flavoured with rosemary. An odd twist but one that works so well. Recommended for coffee and slice any day.

Best coffee in the area. Proper flat whites (although they also do them in large...) If peckish try the egg mayonnaise croissants with cascara-glazed streaky bacon - delicious.

This place is small but the coffee is some of the best in london. They also have other drinks such as a really nice matcha. Few bits of food on offer which are quite pricey also the coffee is not cheap but worth it!

My coffee was okay. Nothing special. I didn't like the cake slice. However, staffs were friendly. The price was reasonable.

Very relaxed environment, service could be a little better... a smile or a greeting would be nice. Good tasting coffee but unfortunately a little cold and a large is in actual fact rather small. Value for money - no, when I order a large and receive a small cup not very satisfying.

I had a peek inside first as I knew there were lots of nearby options both indie and chain variety. The selection of sweet things looked good and unique with some healthy options available. I took a walk and then came back as there were lots of comfortable seating available inside with a range of different options. Tables of different shapes and sizes, some with old cinema seating. Bar stools if you prefer to perch for a while. Unfortunately, the friendly and trendy staff informed me that the expresso coffee machine was out of order. There was indeed an engineer there carrying out some maintenance. I was offered tea or filter coffee instead. I begrudgingly ordered the filter and a matcha green tea cake slice. However, I was surprised when I was told that the total cost would be £6.95. The menu board did not clearly show a filter as being £3.50. Was it the fact I ate in, or ordered a large or was it the soya milk? I couldn’t be sure. I would expect filter to be much cheaper and considering some chains are providing adequate versions of this for £1 I felt a little short changed. Furthermore, the expresso based drinks such as my preferred latte seemed to be at the same prices. As the machine was not working they should have really offered the filter coffee free or at least half price as a gesture of goodwill. I will probably not return and I will use the nearby Holborn Grind instead who provide excellent artisan coffee and if I remember correctly have more than one expresso machine.

I think this place is overrated. Better and cheaper coffees can be found in the neighbourhood.

If you visit the hospital or pass this little shop on your comute your missing out if you don't stop in. Friendly helpful and fast service.

I dropped in by pure accdent, or rather, luck, I should say. I had been looking for good coffee for a couple of days, something thati s really hard to find in London anywhere. They make coffee fast here, but lousy quality. When I saw on menu that they make coffee in Ibrik, I immediately jumped to the order. I booked the double Ibrik with cinnamon takeaway. This is the first time ever I tried anything that is close to the proper Turkish coffee. Great coffee, for me it has become a point of reference for good coffee in London :p
